Albuquerque, NM- Abortion Free New Mexico has made a request to Paul Roth, Chancellor of Health Sciences, at the University of New Mexico (UNM) for the 72 aborted baby remains that are mentioned in the Albuquerque Journal’s article last week announcing that UNM has halted their fetal tissue research program. According to a memo from Roth, these baby remains are in storage and he has not yet decided whether or not he will destroy them. Abortion Free New Mexico believes that these human remains are worthy of a proper burial.

The aborted baby remains are from the notorious late term abortion facility, Southwestern Women’s Options, which has been the sole provider of fetal tissue used by the University of New Mexico for experimental research. The ending of UNM’s fetal tissue research program is a first step in bringing UNM to a place where all lives are valued and protected. Abortion Free New Mexico urges UNM officials to make the right decision in putting these babies to rest.

“Abortion Free New Mexico has made arrangements with a local mortuary to receive these babies from UNM so that they may be buried with dignity and respect. It is our hope that we be allowed to honor these babies and finally put them to rest with a memorial service and burial. It is time that New Mexico start taking even the smallest actions that demonstrate the value of every human being,” stated Tara Shaver.

This is a solemn time to remember the innocent victims of abortion and to stand in solidarity with them. SHOCKING REVELATION COMES TO LIGHT

According to an Albuquerque Journal article published this week, Dr. Robin Ohls, a neonatologist at University of New Mexico Hospital, who specializes in caring for ill newborns, has been conducting experimental research using aborted babies for years.

“[Ohls] said her UNM lab has used fetal tissue to explore various ‘developmental questions,’ evaluating issues that affect premature infants, such as heart and eye disease and brain growth.”

Due to the public scrutiny generated by these shocking revelations and two internal investigations by the University of New Mexico, this week, the Albuquerque Journal announced:

“an indefinite end to any such research at the state’s largest university.”

The abortion industry has attempted to justify the use of aborted babies in medical research as some kind of “greater good” that can come from their barbaric practices, but instead Americans have been horrified and appalled by these shocking realities.

Albuquerque, NM- In 2015 when the liberal “progressive” Pat Davis ran for City Council in Albuquerque, we believed that voters in his district needed to know what he stood for and what a vote for him meant. Not only were we residents of District 6 at the time, but two of the three abortion facilities in Albuquerque are located in this district, the Planned Parenthood surgical facility and the University of New Mexico’s Center for Reproductive Health. However, when you utilize your constitutional first amendment rights in Albuquerque it apparently comes with a stiff $1,000 price tag.

In spite of a lack of evidence being submitted to the city’s ethics board proving that we had violated the city’s election code, when we sent postcards to voters in district 6, we received a public reprimand and were fined $1,000. We filed an appeal with the New Mexico Court of Appeals because we believe that the city’s election code is unconstitutional. The code requires, in part, that if any individual or group spends $250 or more in support of, or in opposition to a candidate for city office, they must register with the City Clerk’s Office, submit “campaign spending” financial reports, establish separate bank accounts for any such spending, attend a mandatory meeting prior to the election, are subject to having their books audited, and comply with other administrative and regulatory requirements.

“As important as it is to show to the truth about what abortion does to women and children, it is equally important to make sure that our constitutional right to do so peacefully are also protected. The complaint filed against us by Pat Davis’ staffer was merely an attempt to block our ability to inform voters in Albuquerque what happens to women and children when radical progressives obtain public office. We must always fight to protect our rights to free speech especially during a time when the first amendment is under attack. As Christians, we are called to stand up for what we believe to be right and true,” stated Tara Shaver.

Court of Appeals Ruled Against Us

Unfortunately, the three judge panel on the Court of Appeals, (Judge Julie Vargas, Judge Monica Zamora, and Judge Linda Vanzi) ruled that the city ethics committee’s ruling, based on their pure speculation that we “must have spent more than $250,” even though there was no evidence as to how much money was spent, was correct. The Court further ruled that the committee’s failure to follow a mandatory procedural rule, which should have resulted in a dismissal of the complaint was unimportant. The Court of Appeals sent the case back to State District Court to consider the constitutional rights issues. We then agreed to dismiss the case without prejudice, meaning that we can pursue our constitutional claims in another court.

Abortion Free New Mexico’s counsel, Angelo Artuso, believes that the Albuquerque election code is not constitutional based on the ruling in New Mexico Youth Organized v. Herrera, 611 F.3d 669, a 2010 case from the federal Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals holding that New Mexico’s state campaign reporting act was unconstitutional because it automatically made anyone who spent $500 a year for “political purposes” subject to mandatory registration and reporting requirements.

“Despite the importance of free speech, especially speech concerned with political matters and elections, no one has ever challenged the City Election Code and its Measure Finance Committee requirements. The requirements are onerous and present a significant roadblock to public participation in the City election process. As such, these portions of the City Election Code need to be overturned” said Mr. Artuso.

Stephen Imbarrato was sentenced to 7 days in jail for his efforts on December 4, 2017 to peacefully defend the lives of babies from imminent death at the hands of American abortionists. This ruling by Superior Court Chief Judge Robert Morin in Washington D.C. is in stark contrast to a previous rescue in which law enforcement officers opted not to bring charges against four others. According to a report from LifeSiteNews:

Father Stephen Imbarrato of Priests for Life had been participating in the Red Rose Rescue, a campaign to enter abortion facility waiting rooms and distribute red roses while offering women words of encouragement not to abort their babies. He was one of three pro-lifers to enter Steven Brigham’s Capital Women’s Services in Washington, D.C., where they were eventually arrested for trespassing on private property.

On Monday [June 25, 2018], DC Superior Court Chief Judge Robert Morin found Imbarrato guilty, along with pro-lifers Julia Haag and Joan McKee, according to a press release from Mercy Missions DC. The judge suggested that their punishment would consist of supervised probation and being barred from the abortion facility, conditions that Imbarrato declared he could not abide by.

The priest explained that while he respected authority, he rejected a ruling from a “corrupt and immoral government that sanctions, protects (through its courts), and funds the daily mass murder of thousands of innocent preborn babies.”

“When do the babies get their day in court?” Imbarrato asked. “Today they do! Judge, you will have to send me to jail!” Morin sentenced him to seven days in prison.

“Father is at peace and exactly where God wants him to be. It is an honor to be in chains for Christ,” Mercy Missions DC founder Lauren Handy said. “Visiting those in jail is a Catholic corporal work of mercy and Father has been placed in an unique situation where he can live out his faith daily.”

“Multiple lives were saved that day” of the rescue,” Handy added in a Facebook Live video from outside the prison. “Mom’s chose life instead of abortion.”

Trump to issue a Personhood Proclamation affirming the value of ALL human life from the moment of fertilization and to direct all of federal agencies including the Department of Justice and all federal law enforcement to act accordingly. Albuquerque, NM- Albuquerque, New Mexico joined 149 locations across the Nation in 39 states to protest Planned Parenthood…the nation’s largest abortion provider.

In Albuquerque more than 75 people joined in solidarity through prayer and protest to stand for LIFE, and in opposition to their hard earned tax dollars being spent to subsidize a failing child killing industry that more and more Americans reject.

Tara Shaver of Abortion Free New Mexico issued the following statement,

“The effort to defund Planned Parenthood has nothing to do with taking healthcare away from poor women and families. It’s about taking tax dollars away from the nation’s largest abortion chain. Until Planned Parenthood stops killing children they shouldn’t receive one more cent of taxpayer funding. We will continue to use our voices and every peaceful legal means necessary to ensure that we are not willfully complicit with the government sanctioned killing business of Planned Parenthoods across this nation.”

There were 4 counter protesters present and several cars driving on San Mateo Blvd. threw bottles and a lemon which struck members of both the pro-abortion and pro-life demonstrators. Women from both sides were bloodied by the glass bottles, in fact, a pro-abortion woman had to leave in an ambulance! The Albuquerque Police Department (APD) took statements as members of the pro-life #ProtestPP event filed police reports. APD is conducting a thorough investigation and will obtain video surveillance to see if they can identify the perpetrators who threw projectiles at the peaceful demonstrators of both sides.

Abortion Free New Mexico is grateful to APD for their prompt response and their willingness to pursue an investigation of this incident.

Planned Parenthood is the largest abortion chain in this nation performing over 320,000 abortions each year. In Albuquerque, we don’t want to just see Planned Parenthood defunded, although they do not deserve one dime of taxpayer funding, we want to see Planned Parenthood CLOSE. • Planned Parenthood receives $553 million annually from taxpayers, 43% of their annual budget, of which $430 million comes from the federal government.
• Planned Parenthood claims abortion is only 3% of their services, a figure so misleading that Slate magazine called it “the most meaningless abortion statistic ever.” Out of the 9.5 million individual services Planned Parenthood provided in 2016, 321,384 were abortions—roughly 3%. Albuquerque, NM- On April 28, a pro-life rally will be held at the Planned Parenthood facility at 701 San Mateo Blvd. NE in Albuquerque, starting at 10:00 am. This rally is one of more than 100 taking place outside Planned Parenthood centers across the United States, marking the third annual National Day of Prayer and Protest Against Planned Parenthood.

This nationwide day of prayer and protest is being coordinated by #ProtestPP, a coalition of more than 75 national, state and local pro-life organizations, in response to Planned Parenthood’s aggressive new agenda. In February, Planned Parenthood executive vice president Dawn Laguens declared that the organization is “going on the offense,” pursuing abortion expansion plans in “all 50 states.” This month, Planned Parenthood announced their participation in the “Win Justice” project, devoting $30 million to advancing their agenda in the November elections.

“Planned Parenthood is on the warpath,” said Tara Shaver of Abortion Free new Mexico, “but too few Albuquerque residents know the truth about this controversial organization. Planned Parenthood claims American women rely on them for healthcare, but in reality, four out of five women will never set foot in one of their centers. Planned Parenthood provides less than 1% of annual pap tests and zero mammograms, but they’ve cornered 35% of the U.S. abortion market. They’ve also been caught shielding child predators, defrauding Medicaid, and harvesting fetal tissue for profit.”

The protests to be held April 28 will also call on federal authorities to stop Planned Parenthood’s taxpayer funding. The effort to fully defund the organization of all federal tax dollars—about $430 million annually—has stalled in Congress. But an effort is now underway to revise Title X family planning rules to block Planned Parenthood as a recipient, and deprive them of some $60-80 million annually.

Shaver emphasizes that every dollar taken from Planned Parenthood would be redirected to healthcare providers that are not involved in abortion. “The effort to defund Planned Parenthood has nothing to do with taking healthcare away from poor women and families. It’s about taking tax dollars away from the nation’s largest abortion chain,” she explained.

This event is open to the general public and has the potential to be life changing for those who attend and hear due to the fact that both sides of the debate are interviewed, the research presented is clear that having an abortion effects women’s health in many ways.

HUSH takes an honest and compelling look at the effects of abortion on women’s health in many areas that the pro-choice community continues to ignore. All are invited and encouraged to attend this screening.

Albuquerque, NM- The Santa Fe New Mexican published an article on Sunday March 25, 2018, “On abortion, Pearce would mark shift to right in New Mexico”  highlighting the pro-life credentials of Congressman Steve Pearce who is currently running unopposed as the republican candidate for Governor of New Mexico.

Abortion Free New Mexico issued the following statement validating the pro-life credentials of Congressman Steve Pearce,

Our concerns for New Mexico are not fringe, but common sense and reasonable for everyone. New Mexico’s ongoing crisis of being the unrestricted and unregulated late term abortion capital of the nation has been ignored for too long. The current Governor, Susana Martinez (R) was ill advised and took the wrong approach to addressing this crisis. Abortion Free New Mexico leaders have for years exposed the nation to the horrors of this reality and have led the charge in calling upon all of New Mexico’s leaders to use their positions as elected officials to stand on their principles and to stand up for the children of New Mexico. These children that are residing in the sanctuary of their mothers wombs are currently deprived of their most fundamental right, the sacred right to life.

No one is above the law, and it is time we hold those accountable for their wrongful actions.”

Albuquerque, NM- Abortion Free New Mexico received confirmation from the New Mexico Medical Board (NMMB) that they have launched an investigation into the death of a local Albuquerque woman who died on February 4, 2017 as a result of complications suffered during a late term abortion performed by Curtis Boyd.

Curtis Boyd owns Southwestern Women’s Options, the largest late term abortion center in the country, which is located in Albuquerque, NM. An undercover investigation done by Abortion Free New Mexico exposed that at Southwestern Women’s Options a woman can obtain an abortion up to 37 weeks of pregnancy for $17,000. Curtis Boyd has readily admitted on national television that he knows that he is killing babies.

The letter from the New Mexico Medical Board dated March 2, 2018 addressed to Tara Shaver states in part,

“[The] New Mexico Medical Board received your complaint against Curtis Boyd, M.D. on 12/18/2017, and was forwarded to the Executive Committee for their review and determination on whether or not a formal investigation is warranted.

The Board’s Executive Committee have reviewed the complaint and have determined that the allegations contained in it warrant further formal review to determine whether the licensee is in violation of the Medical Practice Act.”

Tara Shaver of Abortion Free New Mexico released the following statement,

“Curtis Boyd’s unregulated late term abortion practices will finally come under scrutiny by the New Mexico Medical Board, and this is long overdue. It is unfortunate that one woman had to die to produce this investigation, but we are hopeful that what is uncovered will serve to protect many babies and their mothers from late term abortions at the hands of Curtis Boyd in the future.”
