SPECIAL REPORT: NM SECRETARY OF STATE CANDIDATE PLEDGES TO PROTECT ABORTION-BUT IS THAT THE JOB?

    By Bud Shaver,

    ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.
     — Abortion Free New Mexico (AFNM) is extremely concerned about recently distributed Planned Parenthood Votes New Mexico Independent Expenditure Committee mailers supporting Secretary of State candidate Amanda López Askin.  The mailers raise significant questions about the office of the Secretary of State and about the agenda she is planning to support and promote if elected.

    PLANNED PARENTHOOD MAILER’S

Mailers obtained by Abortion Free New Mexico

Rather than focusing primarily on election administration, campaign finance transparency, business services, or the constitutional responsibilities of the Secretary of State, the mailers emphasize abortion and national partisan politics—even though the Secretary of State has no authority to enact abortion laws or regulate abortion providers.

One of the mailers also prominently features a public endorsement from current Secretary of State Maggie Toulouse Oliver, raising broader questions about ethics, impartiality, and professional conduct

AFNM is asking whether the use of the sitting Secretary of State’s endorsement constitutes a reportable in-kind contribution or other support under New Mexico campaign finance law, and whether such participation is consistent with the neutrality expected of New Mexico’s chief elections official.

Separately, Tara Shaver, a leader with Abortion Free New Mexico, recently filed an ethics complaint alleging Amanda López Askin failed to disclose approximately $2,291.44 in Planned Parenthood-funded in-kind support as required under New Mexico campaign finance law. According to AFNM, the complaint raises additional questions about transparency in a race for the very office responsible for overseeing campaign finance reporting and administering New Mexico’s elections.

AFNM notes that these concerns also influenced its decision to file the campaign finance complaint with the New Mexico Ethics Commission rather than the Secretary of State’s Office. Given the Secretary of State’s public endorsement of Amanda López Askin, AFNM sought review by an independent body.

“New Mexicans deserve confidence that campaign finance laws are enforced impartially, regardless of political affiliation or public endorsements,” said Tara Shaver. “When the office responsible for administering elections publicly endorses a candidate seeking to succeed the current officeholder, questions about impartiality are inevitable. That’s why we asked an independent body to review our complaint.”

Beyond campaign finance records, AFNM’s investigation examines voter participation and political engagement in New Mexico, arguing that election outcomes are often determined by relatively low voter turnout combined with substantial spending by well-funded political organizations.

A Broader Look at Political Influence

According to a previous article by AFNM, New Mexico had approximately 574,000 registered Democrats, 444,000 registered Republicans, and 390,000 Declined-to-State (DTS) voters during the 2026 election cycle. Primary turnout remained relatively low, with approximately 30% of Democrats, 21% of Republicans, and 9.5% of Declined-to-State votersparticipating. Among DTS voters who cast ballots, approximately three out of four participated in the Democratic primary.

AFNM argues these figures illustrate how a relatively small percentage of voters—combined with significant independent political expenditures—can have a substantial impact on election outcomes.

“New Mexicans are repeatedly told these policies reflect ‘the will of the people,’ but the numbers tell a more complicated story,” said Tara Shaver, leader with Abortion Free New Mexico.

“When only a fraction of voters participate in primary elections, powerful organizations spend more than $1 million influencing who gets elected, and ethics complaints raise questions about undisclosed political support, we should honestly ask: Who is really steering New Mexico’s future? Is it the people—or the special interests financing the political machine?”

Referencing Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham’s recent “Pink is Power” slogan, Shaver concluded with a challenge to New Mexicans.

“If ‘Pink is Power,’ New Mexicans should ask what that power represents—and who benefits from it,” Shaver said. “Political power belongs to the people—not to well-funded special interests. We believe New Mexico’s future should be shaped by informed citizens exercising their constitutional right to vote, not by organizations with the deepest pockets or the greatest political influence. The people are the power.”

AFNM encourages New Mexicans to review campaign finance reports, independent expenditure filings, election turnout data, ethics records, and campaign messaging for themselves. An informed electorate is essential to transparent government, accountable public officials, and public confidence in New Mexico’s elections.

This report comes as Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham has repeatedly promoted the slogan “Pink is Power” while celebrating New Mexico’s abortion policies. AFNM says the slogan raises a broader question: Who actually holds political power in New Mexico—the people, or the special interests financing political campaigns?

AFNM recently documented that Planned Parenthood-affiliated political committees spent more than $1 million influencing New Mexico’s 2024 elections, helping elect candidates who continue advancing one of the nation’s most expansive abortion agendas.

PINK IS POWER? GOVERNOR RESPONDS TO SCRUTINY WITH NEW “MORE THAN 11,500” CLAIM AS TRANSPARENCY QUESTIONS GROW

    By Bud Shaver,

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — After Abortion Free New Mexico’s Inspection of Public Records Act investigation compelled the release of internal records concerning New Mexico’s abortion data, Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham issued a new public statement claiming that “more than 11,500 patients received abortion services in 2024.”

The Governor’s statement follows AFNM’s investigation documenting conflicting abortion figures and unresolved questions about how the state’s abortion statistics were compiled, verified, and communicated to the public.

In her latest public message, the Governor stated:

“Since Roe was overturned, New Mexico has stood firm as a safe haven for reproductive health care. In 2024 alone, more than 11,500 patients received abortion services here. We will continue protecting access and defending providers.”

    ▶️ GOVERNOR’S VIDEO DECLARATION

In a separate video (above) accompanying those remarks, Governor Lujan Grisham declared that “Pink is power in New Mexico,” while describing “what we’re doing through Planned Parenthood,” portraying Planned Parenthood’s agenda as part of a broader movement centered on democracy, equality, freedom, and choice.Rather than addressing AFNM’s documented questions regarding conflicting abortion statistics, taxpayer-funded abortion policies, or government transparency, the Governor again emphasized themes closely associated with Planned Parenthood’s political advocacy.Governor Lujan Grisham’s declaration that

“Pink is power in New Mexico” raises a broader and more consequential question: What does that power represent—and whose interests does it serve? In a representative government, political power ultimately belongs to the people. Yet AFNM says the Governor’s remarks, viewed alongside Planned Parenthood’s political spending and expanding influence in New Mexico, raise legitimate questions about whether public policy is being shaped by the will of New Mexico’s citizens or by one of the state’s most influential political advocacy organizations.AFNM’s recent Follow the Money investigation documented that Planned Parenthood-affiliated political organizations spent more than $400,000 in independent expenditures supporting Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham’s 2022 reelection, while affiliated political committees also contributed $20,000 directly to her campaign.

The investigation also resulted in a 2026 ethics complaint alleging that Democratic Secretary of State candidate Amanda Lopez Askin failed to disclose $2,291.44 in Planned Parenthood-funded in-kind campaign support, including mailers, staff time, and other campaign services. AFNM says these findings raise broader concerns about campaign-finance transparency, disclosure compliance, and the influence of powerful political advocacy organizations in New Mexico elections.

AFNM has also documented Planned Parenthood’s continued expansion in New Mexico while affiliates in numerous other states have closed or consolidated facilities. As New Mexico continues funding abortion through taxpayer-supported programs and promoting itself as an abortion destination, AFNM says the Governor’s repeated messaging raises important questions about the influence of one of the state’s most powerful political advocacy organizations.

    AFNM EDITORIAL CARTOON

The Governor’s latest wording also represents another shift in the administration’s public messaging.

The Governor previously cited 11,512 abortions in New Mexico during 2024, while a New Mexico Department of Health abortion dashboard reported 11,523. The Governor has now adopted the broader phrase “more than 11,500” without publicly explaining the difference between the previously released figures.

AFNM’s investigation also highlighted a substantially higher estimate from the Guttmacher Institute, which reported approximately 18,130 clinician-provided abortions in New Mexico during 2024.

The gap between the state’s reported figures and the Guttmacher estimate raises significant questions about the completeness, methodology, provider participation, and verification procedures underlying New Mexico’s abortion statistics.

Rather than addressing those discrepancies, the Governor again promoted New Mexico as a destination for abortion and presented the reported number as evidence of her administration’s commitment to protecting the abortion industry.

When the Governor says ‘Pink is power in New Mexico,’ New Mexicans have every right to ask what that power represents,” said Tara Shaver, a leader with Abortion Free New Mexico. “In our system of government, political power is supposed to belong to the people—not to well-funded special interests. AFNM’s investigation asks whether public policy is being shaped by the will of New Mexico’s citizens or by one of the state’s most influential political advocacy organizations.”

Internal Department of Health communications obtained through AFNM’s public-records investigation showed that state officials were compiling and communicating abortion statistics to the Governor’s Office.

The released records also indicated that compiling, analyzing, and confirming more recent abortion data would require additional time. However, the documents did not provide a complete methodology explaining how the publicly reported totals were calculated or verified.

The records contained no documentation clearly identifying:

    • The methodology used to compile the abortion statistics.
    • Every abortion provider that submitted information.
    • Whether all abortion facilities participated.
    • How the figures were checked for accuracy.
    • Whether duplicate, incomplete, or missing reports were identified.
    • What procedures governed data collection after statutory abortion-reporting requirements were repealed.

These unanswered questions are particularly significant because legislative testimony concerning Senate Bill 30 indicated that abortion providers had not consistently submitted reports required under New Mexico law since approximately 2019. Rather than restoring compliance and strengthening public accountability, the Legislature repealed the abortion-reporting requirement in 2026.

This wasn’t about transparency—it was about promoting the abortion industry’s political narrative. Rather than answering the documented questions raised by AFNM’s investigation, the Governor chose to celebrate New Mexico’s growing role as one of the nation’s leading abortion destinations while repeating messaging closely associated with Planned Parenthood’s political advocacy.”

    Tara Shaver continued,

To announce that more than 11,500 unborn children lost their lives should break our hearts—not become a political achievement. Every child lost represents a profound human tragedy, not a milestone to celebrate.”

AFNM says the Governor’s latest statement does not resolve the central issue raised by its investigation.

Whether the correct figure is 11,51211,523“more than 11,500,” or closer to the Guttmacher Institute’s estimate of 18,130, New Mexicans deserve to know how the numbers were gathered and whether they accurately represent abortion activity throughout the state.

The Governor’s latest remarks also mark an increasingly confrontational posture toward states that have enacted laws protecting unborn children following the overturning of Roe v. Wade. By declaring that “Pink is power in New Mexico” and pledging to continue “the fight,” Governor Lujan Grisham is not merely defending New Mexico’s abortion policies—she is positioning the state in direct opposition to jurisdictions that have chosen to protect unborn children.

AFNM says that escalating rhetoric raises broader questions about the direction of New Mexico’s leadership, the priorities driving public policy, and the influence of the abortion industry’s political allies within state government.

When the Governor celebrates New Mexico’s abortion industry while attacking states that have chosen to protect unborn children, every New Mexican should ask where this path leads,” said Bud Shaver, Executive Director of Abortion Free New Mexico. “This investigation is about more than abortion statistics. It is about political influence, government transparency, and whether powerful special interests are shaping public policy. New Mexicans deserve leaders who welcome scrutiny and place the public interest above political ideology.”

    Power demands accountability.

If “Pink is power,” New Mexicans deserve to know: Who is in control—and who does that power ultimately serve?

Abortion Free New Mexico will continue following the evidence, pursuing public records, and documenting the facts so New Mexicans have the transparency needed to hold government accountable.

  • MEDIA SILENCE: MAJOR NEW MEXICO NEWS OUTLETS IGNORE DOCUMENTED ABORTION INDUSTRY INVESTIGATIONS

MEDIA SILENCE: MAJOR NEW MEXICO NEWS OUTLETS IGNORE DOCUMENTED ABORTION INDUSTRY INVESTIGATIONS

    By Bud Shaver,

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Abortion Free New Mexico is calling out what appears to be a deliberate pattern of media silence from a New Mexico press establishment that has become radically aligned with the abortion industry and the politicians who protect it.

Over the past several weeks, Abortion Free New Mexico has released a series of documented investigations exposing serious questions involving Planned Parenthood’s political influence, state abortion statistics, taxpayer-funded abortion, abortion-facility operations, government transparency, and the repeal of basic abortion-reporting requirements.

Yet New Mexico’s largest media outlets have largely refused to investigate, challenge, or even meaningfully report the findings.

This silence is especially revealing because many of these same outlets routinely promote abortion-industry messaging, celebrate abortion expansion, repeat claims from pro-abortion politicians without serious scrutiny, and frame abortion providers as unquestioned authorities.

When the abortion industry wants publicity, New Mexico’s media provide a platform.

When evidence raises questions about that industry’s money, power, statistics, political relationships, or government protection, the media suddenly lose interest.

    Among AFNM’s recent investigations are:

    • Planned Parenthood’s more than $1.08 million in political spending intended to influence New Mexico elections.
    • An ethics complaint raising questions about political expenditures, lobbying influence, and campaign-finance transparency.
    • Internal Department of Health emails exposing unanswered questions about abortion statistics promoted by the Governor.
    • Major discrepancies between state abortion figures and estimates published by the Guttmacher Institute.
    • The repeal of New Mexico’s abortion-reporting law after years of apparent noncompliance.
    • The closure and consolidation of an Albuquerque abortion facility documented through eyewitness investigation and an undercover phone call.
    • Data identifying New Mexico as having the highest abortion rate in the nation.
    • Continued taxpayer funding of abortion through New Mexico Medicaid.
    • The political influence of an abortion industry that has benefited from years of favorable legislation, public funding, reduced oversight, and expanding operations.

New Mexico’s major media outlets do not appear to function as neutral watchdogs when abortion is involved,”said Tara Shaver, of Abortion Free New Mexico. “They operate within a radically pro-abortion culture that protects the abortion industry from the scrutiny routinely applied to almost every other powerful political interest.”

AFNM’s investigations are based on public records, official government communications, campaign-finance filings, firsthand observations, undercover verification, legislative history, and published data.

These are not rumors, anonymous accusations, or social media speculation,” Tara Shaver said. “We have published the paper trail. We have released the records. We have identified the discrepancies. We have documented the political spending. Every report is publicly available for anyone to examine. The media’s refusal to investigate is becoming a story in itself.”

AFNM contends that the issue is not merely ideological bias. It is a failure of journalism that allows politically powerful organizations and elected officials to operate without meaningful public accountability.

New Mexico reporters frequently scrutinize conservative organizations, Republican officials, churches, and pro-life advocates.

But when Planned Parenthood spends more than $1 million influencing elections, abortion statistics conflict by thousands, reporting requirements disappear, and taxpayer dollars continue flowing into abortion, the silence becomes deafening.

The abortion industry has political allies in the Governor’s Office, the Legislature, and throughout state government,” Shaver said. “It also appears to have ideological allies in New Mexico newsrooms. That raises a basic question: Who will investigate the abortion industry when the institutions entrusted with holding power accountable are committed to advancing the same agenda?”

AFNM is also raising concerns about the responsibilities of publicly funded media outlets. If news organizations receive taxpayer support—whether directly or indirectly—they have an obligation to cover matters of public importance in New Mexico regardless of ideology, political pressure, or editorial preference. Public funding should require a commitment to transparency, fairness, and comprehensive reporting on issues affecting New Mexicans.

Accordingly, AFNM is calling on New Mexico’s journalists, editors, and publicly funded news organizations to answer the following questions:

    • Why have major discrepancies in state abortion statistics received so little scrutiny?
    • Why has Planned Parenthood’s extraordinary political spending not triggered sustained investigative coverage?
    • Why has the repeal of abortion-reporting requirements not been treated as a major government-transparency scandal?
    • Why are abortion-industry claims routinely repeated while documented pro-life investigations are ignored?
    • Do New Mexico newsrooms have ideological conflicts that prevent fair coverage of abortion-related issues?
    • Would the media remain silent if a conservative organization exercised the same political influence and received the same government benefits?
    • If these outlets receive any form of taxpayer funding, what specific policies, editorial safeguards, and accountability measures are in place to ensure they are fulfilling their legal and ethical obligation to provide comprehensive, viewpoint-neutral coverage of all significant public issues affecting New Mexico residents?

AFNM emphasizes that these questions are not intended to challenge the editorial independence of New Mexico’s news organizations, but to encourage transparency, accountability, and public confidence. When documented investigations involving public records, campaign-finance filings, government data, ethics complaints, and undercover reporting receive little or no sustained investigative scrutiny, it is reasonable for the public to ask whether matters of significant public importance are receiving fair, comprehensive, and independent coverage.

The media cannot credibly claim to hold the powerful accountable while protecting one of the most politically connected industries in New Mexico,” Shaver concluded. “New Mexicans deserve journalism, not abortion-industry public relations. The evidence is available. The public records have been released. The only question remaining is whether anyone in New Mexico’s media has the courage to follow them.”

Readers can review the underlying investigations, public records, campaign-finance filings, and supporting documentation referenced in this release at AbortionFreeNM.com and examine the evidence for themselves.

FOLLOW THE DATA: INTERNAL STATE EMAILS RAISE NEW QUESTIONS ABOUT THE GOVERNOR’S ABORTION STATISTICS

    By Bud Shaver,

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Abortion Free New Mexico (AFNM) today published its analysis of public records obtained by Tara Shaver through New Mexico’s Inspection of Public Records Act (IPRA). The records, produced by the Governor’s Office, include internal Department of Health emails, an official abortion dashboard, and related communications that raise new questions about how Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham’s administration obtained, compiled and communicated the 2024 abortion statistics she publicly cited on June 24, 2026.

The records reveal that the Governor’s Office relied on abortion figures that had been circulating internally for months, while a later Department of Health dashboard reflected different numbers. The records released to AFNM provide no explanation for the discrepancy.Following Governor Lujan Grisham’s June 24 social media post stating that 11,512 abortions were performed in New Mexico during 2024, with 71% involving out-of-state patients, Tara Shaver submitted an IPRA request seeking the records supporting those figures.

The records produced by the Governor’s Office on July 15, 2026, reveal a paper trail spanning nearly six months of internal communications between the Department of Health and the Governor’s Office. Taken together, the documents show how abortion statistics were requested, discussed, updated, and communicated publicly, while raising new questions about the methodology and consistency of the figures used by state officials.

    THE PAPER TRAIL

Figure 1. Internal emails released through IPRA show the Governor’s Office requested updated abortion data on January 9, 2026. Nearly six months later, on June 24—the same day Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham publicly cited 2024 abortion statistics—the Department of Health responded with updated data through early May 2026.

    Timeline Summary

The records show that state officials were discussing abortion statistics months before the Governor’s public statement. A January 9 email referenced 11,512 abortions in 2024 and noted that updated 2025 data would require additional time to compile, analyze, and confirm. On May 6, the Department of Health dashboard reflected a different 2024 total of 11,523. The Governor nevertheless cited the earlier 11,512 figure on June 24, and later that same day the Department sent the Governor’s communications staff updated data through early May 2026.

Exhibit C: Official Department of Health Dashboard

Figure 2. Official Department of Health abortion dashboard released through IPRA to Tara Shaver on July 15, 2026. The dashboard reports 11,523 abortions in 2024 and includes detailed resident-state data through May 6, 2026, but no accompanying records explain the methodology, provider participation, verification process, or reconciliation with other published abortion totals.

    The records do not explain:

    • Why the Governor publicly cited 11,512 when the Department’s later dashboard reported 11,523.
    • Which figure was considered final.
    • When or why the total changed.

Perhaps most significantly, the January email acknowledges that the Department’s abortion data required additional work before it could be considered complete.

    In the email, Nott wrote:

…the 2025 data will take some time to compile, analyze, confirm, etc.”

Records Show 2025 Data Was Still Under Review

Figure 3. Internal Department of Health email released through IPRA showing that, as of January 9, 2026, the Department advised the Governor’s Office that updated 2025 abortion data was still being compiled, analyzed, and confirmed.

AFNM says that statement raises broader questions about the Department’s methodology and quality control.

These records show that state officials themselves acknowledged abortion data required additional compiling, analysis, and confirmation,” said Tara Shaver, leader with Abortion Free New Mexico. “Yet the public has never been shown the methodology behind these statistics or why different official records report different totals. New Mexicans deserve transparency, not unexplained discrepancies.”

The released records also contain no documentation explaining:

    • How the Department of Health compiled the abortion statistics.
    • Which abortion providers submitted data.
    • Whether every abortion facility participated.
    • How the figures were verified before being released publicly.

These unanswered questions are especially significant because legislative testimony on Senate Bill 30 indicated that abortion providers had not consistently submitted reports required under New Mexico law since approximately 2019. Rather than restoring compliance and strengthening public accountability, the Legislature repealed the abortion reporting requirement through Senate Bill 30 in 2026.

AFNM contends that transparent, consistent, and independently verifiable reporting is essential to maintaining public confidence in abortion statistics used to inform public policy.

Meanwhile, the Guttmacher Institute’s Monthly Abortion Provision Study estimated 18,130 clinician-provided abortions in New Mexico during 2024—thousands more than the Department’s reported total. Guttmacher’s estimates rely in part on voluntary participation by abortion providers and other data sources, creating a troubling contrast: providers appear willing to share abortion data with a private abortion-rights research organization while legally required reporting to the State went largely unfulfilled. The records released by the Governor’s Office do not explain that disparity or reconcile the competing totals.

This investigation is no longer simply about one number,” said Bud Shaver, Executive Director of Abortion Free New Mexico. “It is about whether New Mexico’s government can demonstrate how abortion statistics are collected, verified, and communicated to the public. When official records conflict and no methodology is released, public confidence suffers. Government data should be transparent, consistent, and independently verifiable.”

AFNM has published the released records and its accompanying analysis to encourage greater transparency, accountability, and public confidence in the abortion statistics used to inform public policy in New Mexico.

ALAMO WOMEN’S ABORTION CLINIC CLOSES ONE OF ITS ALBUQUERQUE LOCATIONS

    By Bud Shaver,

    ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.
–Abortion Free New Mexico (AFNM) has confirmed that Alamo Women’s Clinic has closed its Montgomery Boulevard location in Albuquerque after clinic staff stated during a recorded undercover telephone call that patients seeking appointments are now being directed to Southwestern Women’s Options at 522 Lomas Blvd. NE.The discovery began during Abortion Free New Mexico’s weekly prayer walk on Saturday, July 11, when volunteers observed furniture, equipment, and other items being removed from the Montgomery abortion facility, indicating the clinic was vacating the property.

To verify what volunteers had witnessed, Tara Shaver, a leader with Abortion Free New Mexico, placed the undercover call call to Alamo Women’s Clinic on July 14, posing as a prospective patient seeking an abortion appointment at the Montgomery location.

    Shaver asked:

I was wondering about scheduling an abortion appointment at your Montgomery location.”

An Alamo Women’s Clinic employee responded:

“I can definitely help you get scheduled, but just some upfront kind of knowledge on our recent changes—we’ve recently merged with the Southwestern clinic (Southwestern Women’s Options), so we are down the street now at 522 Lomas. Same doctor, same staff owns both of them. So now it’s one location.”

The employee confirmed that patients seeking appointments at the former Montgomery location are now being directed to Southwestern Women’s Options, where the two operations have been combined at a single Albuquerque facility.

Although Alamo Women’s Clinic’s website continued to list both Albuquerque locations at the time of publication, the staff confirmed that the Montgomery office is no longer serving patients. Southwestern Women’s Options currently describes itself as the “sister clinic to Alamo Women’s Clinic.”

It remains unclear whether the Alamo Women’s Clinic name will continue to be used as a separate brand. What has been confirmed is that the Montgomery location has closed and operations have been moved to the Lomas facility.

    Consolidation Under Common Ownership

    Abortion Free New Mexico previously

reported in 2024 that abortionist Alan Braid became the owner of both Alamo Women’s Clinic of Albuquerque and Southwestern Women’s Options, the late-term abortion facility formerly owned by abortionist Curtis Boyd.According to clinic staff, the two facilities now operate under the same ownership with the same physician and staff from a single Albuquerque location. The closure marks another significant development in New Mexico’s abortion industry, with abortion services previously offered at two Albuquerque locations now operating from a single facility under common ownership.

This undercover call confirmed what our volunteers first observed during Saturday’s prayer walk,” said Tara Shaver, leader with Abortion Free New Mexico. “After witnessing the Montgomery clinic being emptied, we sought to verify what was taking place. The clinic itself confirmed that patients are now being directed to Southwestern Women’s Options, where operations have been consolidated into one location.”

    Years of Faithful Sidewalk Ministry

For years, Abortion Free New Mexico maintained a weekly sidewalk outreach ministry outside the Montgomery facility, offering women prayer, compassionate support, practical resources, and life-affirming alternatives to abortion.Located in a commercial strip mall alongside two dental offices and adjacent to First Christian Church of Albuquerque, the facility became the site of thousands of sidewalk conversations, prayers, Gospel presentations, and offers of assistance to women facing unexpected pregnancies. Through this faithful outreach, Abortion Free New Mexico witnessed numerous mothers choose life and provided practical assistance, prayer, and ongoing support to many other women and families

during some of the most difficult moments of their lives.

Abortion Free New Mexico also experienced ongoing challenges at this location. While some neighboring businesses expressed frustration over the activity surrounding the abortion facility, AFNM volunteers remained committed to peaceful, constitutionally protected prayer and sidewalk counseling. AFNM maintains that the recurring disruptions associated with the property stemmed from the abortion facility’s operations and the public response they generated—not from the ministry’s peaceful outreach.

The closure of this location marks the end of years of faithful ministry outside the Montgomery facility,” Shaver added. We thank God for every opportunity to pray, share the Gospel, offer practical support, and encourage women to choose life. While this chapter has come to a close, our mission has not. We will continue serving women and families with compassion, truth, and the hope of Jesus Christ wherever abortion facilities continue to operate until every preborn child is valued and protected.”

AFNM Will Continue Monitoring the Transition

Abortion Free New Mexico will continue monitoring the transition, including any changes to licensing, corporate records, branding, and the number of abortion facilities operating in Albuquerque.

  • FOLLOW THE MONEY: AFNM EXPOSES PLANNED PARENTHOOD’S $1.08 MILLION POLITICAL MACHINE IN NEW MEXICO

FOLLOW THE MONEY: AFNM EXPOSES PLANNED PARENTHOOD’S $1.08 MILLION POLITICAL MACHINE IN NEW MEXICO

    By Bud Shaver,

    ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.
     — Abortion Free New Mexico (AFNM) today released a new investigative analysis revealing that Planned Parenthood’s political committees spent more than $1.08 million to influence New Mexico elections while simultaneously announcing it has filed an ethics complaint against Democratic Secretary of State candidate Amanda Lopez Askin over alleged campaign finance disclosure violations. AFNM says the findings raise serious questions about the abortion industry’s growing political influence and the need for greater transparency in New Mexico elections.

According to AFNM’s analysis, Planned Parenthood’s political committees spent $1,080,122.89 influencing New Mexico elections by financially supporting at least 31 candidates while spending hundreds of thousands of dollars defeating their opponents.

The analysis comes as AFNM has filed an ethics complaint with the New Mexico State Ethics Commission against Democratic Secretary of State candidate Amanda Lopez Askin, alleging violations of New Mexico’s Campaign Reporting Act and campaign finance disclosure requirements. According to the complaint, Planned Parenthood Votes New Mexico Coordinated Committee reported $2,291.44 in in-kind contributions to Askin’s campaign–$2,171.30 in mailers and $120.14 in staff time provided on May 26, 2026—while Askin’s Third and Fourth Primary Campaign Finance Reports allegedly failed to disclose those contributions.

Askin is seeking to become New Mexico’s chief elections officer, responsible for enforcing campaign finance laws, administering elections, and protecting public confidence in the electoral process. Her Republican opponent, Ramona Goolsby, is a strong pro-life candidate who has campaigned on election integrity, transparency, and accountability and has not benefited from Planned Parenthood’s political spending. AFNM encourages voters to carefully examine the stark contrast between the candidates and to follow the money behind New Mexico’s Secretary of State race.

New Mexicans deserve to know whether those entrusted with enforcing our election laws are independent public servants or beneficiaries of one of the most powerful political organizations in our state,” said Tara Shaver, leader with Abortion Free New Mexico. “The Secretary of State’s office should inspire confidence—not raise questions about political influence from an industry that has invested more than a million dollars shaping New Mexico elections.”

31 Candidates Financially Backed by Planned Parenthood in 2022

AFNM’s review found Planned Parenthood’s political committees directly financed at least 31 New Mexico candidates, including:

    G. Andres Romero, Javier Martinez, Dayan Hochman-Vigil, Antonio Maestas, Cynthia Borrego, Gail Chasey, Jonell Anyanonu, Meredith Dixon, Christine Trujillo, Eleanor Chavez, Marian Matthews, Pam Herndon, Joy Garrett, Natalie Figueroa, Angelica Rubio, Nathan Small, Joanne Ferrari, Tara Jaramillo, Susan Herrera, Kristina Ortez, Christine Chandler, Kathleen Cates, Andrea Romero, Reena Szczepanski, Matthew McQueen, Willie Madrid, Charlotte Little, and Ambrose Castellano all received financial support from Planned Parenthood political committees, with support ranging from $54.66 to $20,304.08.

    Political Spending, Political Returns

AFNM argues that Planned Parenthood’s unprecedented political investment has coincided with years of legislative victories benefiting the abortion industry, including:

    • Repeal of New Mexico’s abortion reporting law.
    • Continued taxpayer funding of abortion through Medicaid.
    • Expansion of abortion facilities across the state.
    • Recruitment of out-of-state abortion providers.
    • Policies allowing minors to obtain abortions without parental notification or consent.

According to AFNM’s research, New Mexico has gone from being known as the nation’s late-term abortion capital to becoming the nation’s abortion capital, following unprecedented growth in abortion, out-of-state abortion tourism, and abortion facility expansion.

AFNM’s analysis also found that Planned Parenthood frequently spent significantly more money defeating candidates it opposed than directly supporting its preferred candidates. Independent expenditures opposing candidates often dwarfed the direct support provided to Planned Parenthood-backed campaigns.

    Examples include:

    • Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham: $20,000.05 in direct support and $422,078.28 opposing Mark Ronchetti.
    • John Allen (Bernalillo County Sheriff): $20,000.00 in direct support and $171,639.13 opposing Pacheco.
    • Kathleen Cates (HD 44): $7,194.93 in support and $24,098.44 opposing Powdrell-Culbert.
    • Pam Herndon (HD 28): $7,603.05 in support and $24,144.60 opposing Chavez.
    • Marian Matthews (HD 27): $7,863.67 in support and $23,924.52 opposing Godshall.
    • Joy Garrett (HD 29): $14,174.96 in support and $21,929.76 opposing Cunningham.
    • Natalie Figueroa (HD 30): $13,975.79 in support and $21,914.96 opposing Johnson.
    • Meredith Dixon (HD 20): $7,930.25 in support and $21,840.36 opposing Salazar.
    • Charlotte Little (HD 68): $8,348.38 in support and $19,568.68 opposing Moss.
    • Nathan Small (HD 36): $6,222.28 in support and $18,907.88 opposing Skaggs.
    • Tara Jaramillo (HD 38): $20,304.08 in support and $13,301.84 opposing Hammack.
    • Willie Madrid (HD 53): $9,504.60 in support and $12,726.28 opposing Winterrowd.

The abortion industry isn’t spending this kind of money out of charity,” said Shaver. “It’s an investment in political power. When politicians receive the support of Planned Parenthood and then consistently advance the organization’s legislative agenda, New Mexicans have every right to ask whether they are representing their constituents or the special interests that helped elect them.”

AFNM Files Ethics Complaint with State Ethics Commission

The complaint against Democratic Secretary of State candidate Amanda Lopez Askin requests a full investigation, findings of violations if warranted, amended campaign finance reports accurately disclosing the alleged in-kind contributions, any appropriate civil penalties authorized by law, and any additional relief the Commission determines is appropriate to ensure transparency and accountability in New Mexico elections.

I filed this complaint directly with the New Mexico State Ethics Commission because the current Secretary of State has publicly endorsed this candidate,” said Shaver. “To protect public confidence in the process, we believe these allegations should be reviewed by an independent body. Regardless of political affiliation, every candidate—especially one seeking to become New Mexico’s chief elections officer—should be held to the same campaign finance disclosure standards.”

    Public Trust Requires Transparency

The issue before New Mexicans is larger than one complaint or one candidate,” Shaver said. “When a powerful special interest can spend more than $1.08 million to influence elections and financially support at least 31 candidates, the public must have confidence that campaign finance laws are being faithfully followed and fairly enforced. Transparency isn’t optional—it’s essential to preserving trust in our elections.”

    Tara Shaver continued,

The contrast in this race could not be clearer,” Shaver continued. “One candidate benefited from Planned Parenthood’s political machine, while Ramona Goolsby has stood for election integrity, transparency, and the protection of innocent human life. We encourage New Mexicans to examine the facts, follow the money, and support leaders who will serve the people rather than powerful special interests. The office of Secretary of State should never be influenced by organizations that have invested millions to shape New Mexico’s political landscape.”

  • NM Medicaid Funded $3.7 Million For Abortions From 2022-2024

NM Medicaid Funded $3.7 Million For Abortions From 2022-2024

    By Bud Shaver,

Albuquerque, New Mexico- Under the current administration, led by Democrat Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham, Abortion Free New Mexico has obtained very limited data about taxpayer funded abortions through New Mexico Medicaid. In an Inspection of Public Records (IPRA) request on February 6, 2025 made to the New Mexico Health Care Authority (HCA), Tara Shaver of Abortion Free New Mexico asked for a plethora of information regarding the numbers of abortions that were funded through New Mexico Medicaid. The response that the Health Care Authority provided was unprofessional, unclear and incomplete but Abortion Free New Mexico is publishing what has been revealed so far in this investigation.

    The following information was requested:

    1. How much money was paid for abortion procedures by New Mexico Medicaid in 2022, 2023 and 2024?
    2. How many abortion procedures were paid for by New Mexico Medicaid in 2022, 2023 and 2024? (Please specify whether the procedure is chemical or surgical.)
    3. Which providers in New Mexico were paid by New Mexico Medicaid for abortion procedures in 2022, 2023 and 2024?
    4. What is the gestational ages of the fetus’ for which abortions were paid for by New Mexico Medicaid in 2022, 2023 and 2024?
    5. How many abortion procedures were paid for by New Mexico Medicaid on undocumented immigrants in 2022, 2023 and 2024?

On March 4, 2025 the New Mexico Health Care Authority public records custodian gave a one sentence reply to Shaver’s initial request which was quite concerning. It simply stated,

“The New Mexico Health Care Authority, $2,980,083.31 was paid in PregTerm through 2022- 2024. The New Mexico Health Care Authority does not have documents responsive to the remainder of this request.”

In a back and forth to clarify, two different dollar amounts were ultimately given, with the final amount being over $3.7 million dollars (Total – $3,768,818.32for 2022, 2023 and 2024. The letter below dated April 16, 2025 also included a breakdown by year, showing that 2024 had the highest amount paid out for abortions. The lack of transparency regarding this request, however, is a breach of the public trust.

In previous years under a different administration, public records requests were fulfilled completely with all requested data included. Not only did the HCA give a limited repsonse, they also stated that they did not have documents responsive to the rest of the request. Upon reading this, Shaver decided to ask where additional data could be obtained in the interest of public accountability.

Shaver then received the following response via email correspondence with the public records custodian,

“Dear Mrs. Shaver, no we do not know of an government agency that would have this because Medicaid, as we have indicated, does not pay for this. You could try private entities like planned parenthood. Thanks, HCA IPRA Team.”

Tara Shaver, spokeswoman for Abortion Free New Mexico issued the following statement,

“It is very frustrating when a state agency, like the New Mexico Health Care Authority, that is entrusted with public information withholds, denies and even changes the information when it is requested by the public. This is unfortunately the norm in Democrat run states like New Mexico. The New Mexico Health Care Authority denied that Medicaid even pays for abortions but gave two contradicting dollar amounts for PregTerm (short for Pregnancy Termination) which is regarded as medical or surgical abortions. For a state that is so proud to champion abortion, why are they so unwilling to release actual abortion numbers that state taxpayers have funded? Is this an indication that they know how evil abortion really is and are attempting to hide this information from the public?”

Abortion Free New Mexico has reached out to an open government organization for assistance and has submitted another IPRA request to the New Mexico HCA to try and gain the original requested  information based on the medical codes used for abortions.

New Mexico is 1 of 19 states that uses state tax dollars through Medicaid to fully fund elective abortions.  This use of state tax dollars being utilized to fund abortions through New Mexico Medicaid despite the Hyde Amendment, is based on a New Mexico Supreme Court order.

According to the ruling issued in 1999,

The New Mexico Supreme Court has ruled that the State must cover all medically necessary abortions in its Medicaid program using State-only funds. The Court based its decision to expand coverage of abortion services on the State Constitution’s Equal Rights Amendment (ERA). Specifically, the Court found that the Medicaid agency’s rule prohibiting State funding for certain medically necessary abortions denies Medicaid-eligible women equal rights. The agency’s rule results in a program that does not apply the same standard of medical necessity to both men and women, and there is no compelling justification for treating men and women differently with respect to their medical needs.”

The cost of a first trimester abortion is typically around $600, whereas a 32 week abortion costs $17,500.

There is a definite trend in New Mexico to promote abortion but keep citizens in the dark about their shameful deeds. During the most recent 2024 legislative session, radical abortion legislators introduced multiple bills to suppress abortion related data. Unfortunately, one bill did pass, SB57 which prevents the public from knowing the names of abortion providers, employed by a public body. It begs the question, why do you want to hide your identity if you are so proud to take the lives of little babies by performing grisly abortions, some up to 32 weeks of pregnancy? The citizens of New Mexico deserve transparency from their government and every innocent life should be protected under the law, born and preborn,” stated Tara Shaver.

  • ABORTION FREE NEW MEXICO CALLS UPON TRUMP TO FREEZE FUNDS USED BY NM MEDICAID TO FUND ABORTIONS

ABORTION FREE NEW MEXICO CALLS UPON TRUMP TO FREEZE FUNDS USED BY NM MEDICAID TO FUND ABORTIONS

    By Bud Shaver,

Albuquerque, New Mexico- On January 24, 2025 President Donald J. Trump issued an Executive Order reinstating the Hyde Amendment.

The Executive Order, “Enforcing The Hyde Amendment” stated in part,

Section 1.  Purpose and Policy.  For nearly five decades, the Congress has annually enacted the Hyde Amendment and similar laws that prevent Federal funding of elective abortion, reflecting a longstanding consensus that American taxpayers should not be forced to pay for that practice.  However, the previous administration disregarded this established, commonsense policy by embedding forced taxpayer funding of elective abortions in a wide variety of Federal programs.

It is the policy of the United States, consistent with the Hyde Amendment, to end the forced use of Federal taxpayer dollars to fund or promote elective abortion.”

On Tuesday January 28, 2025 President Donald J. Trump announced an abrupt freeze on broad swath of federal payments.

The Trump administration will temporarily stop payments on multiple federal programs Tuesday evening [.]”

It was unclear how this freeze on federal funds would impact Medicaid.

Democratic U.S. senators reported Medicaid portals in all 50 states were down on Tuesday.”

However, a subsequent document issued from the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) stated,

“In addition to Social Security and Medicare, already explicitly excluded in the guidance, mandatory programs like Medicaid and SNAP will continue without pause.”

Interestingly though, this document clearly indicated that programs affected by this freeze on federal funds must adhere to President Donald J. Trumps recent Executive Orders including the, “Enforcing The Hyde Amendment”.

New Mexico is one of the most dependent states upon federal funds to cover Medicaid. According to Google AI,

    • In 2022, the federal government covered 84.6% of New Mexico’s Medicaid costs.
    • Medicaid is the largest expenditure in New Mexico’s budget.

New Mexico Medicaid 100% funds full-term abortions.

New Mexico Medicaid 100% funds full-term abortions. In fact, in a recent report, Abortion Free New Mexico exposed that the New Mexico Department of Health website indicated that New Mexico Medicaid would fund abortions for minors and even illegal immigrants!

In this bombshell report Abortion Free New Mexico brought the receipts. Here are screen shots from the New Mexico Department of Health website, links therein and related links:

Abortion Free New Mexico took to social media and asked President Trump’s Press Secretary, Karoline Leavitt,

Can President Donald J. Trump and The White House ensure that NO federal funds will continue to fund full-term abortions in New Mexico?”

Tara Shaver issued the following statement,

Abortion Free New Mexico is calling upon President Donald J. Trump and his administration to immediately freeze federal funds to New Mexico that are being used by New Mexico Medicaid to fully fund full term abortions.”

    Shaver continued,

New Mexico Democrats have created an ‘abortion free for all’ in our state that has opened the door for minors, illegal immigrants and out of state residents to kill their children via abortion using public tax dollars! Enough is enough.”

  • New Mexico Abortion Landscape 2024: Dangerous Trend- Out of State Traffic and Chemical Abortions Expanding Throughout the State

New Mexico Abortion Landscape 2024: Dangerous Trend- Out of State Traffic and Chemical Abortions Expanding Throughout the State

    By Bud Shaver,

Albuquerque, New Mexico- As 2024 comes to an end Abortion Free New Mexico has surveyed New Mexico abortion centers to assess their abortion practices. Unfortunately, in the wake of Roe vs. Wade being overturned in 2022 and the longstanding lack of any common sense protections for unborn children and pregnant women, there is now a dangerous trend of out of state abortion clinics relocating to New Mexico as well as chemical abortion providers expanding throughout the state.

Abortionist Alan Braid now owns both Alamo Women’s Clinic of Albuquerque and Southwestern Women’s Options. Southwestern Women’s Options is the notorious late-term abortion center, formerly owned by abortionist Curtis Boyd. Their website advertises abortions up to 32 weeks of pregnancy for “fetal anomalies”, but  when you call the facility they only schedule election abortions up to 25 weeks. No further details were given over the phone for scheduling the later-term abortions for fetal anomalies.

    • See below for the survey analysis, the dangers of chemical abortions, and Abortion Free New Mexico’s Abortion Landscape summary of 2024.

    Notable Facts

    • New Mexico allows telemedicine abortions via mail and has no gestational limits on abortion- full term abortions are legal through all nine months of pregnancy.
    • While ALL of the abortion facilities provide the abortion pill, half (6) of the abortion facilities across New Mexico exclusively provide only chemical abortions also known as medical abortions.
    • Half (6) of the abortion providers relocated to New Mexico from out of state (4 from Texas).

    Notable Dangerous Trend

The majority (9) of New Mexico abortion facilities including ALL of the Planned Parenthood clinics, Whole Woman’s Health, Southwestern Women’s Options, Alamo Women’s Clinic of Albuquerque and The Satanic Temple offer remote or telemedicine appointments where women seeking abortions never step foot into an abortion facility nor do they receive any in-person screenings. The abortion clinic mails the abortion pills and the pregnant woman’s home becomes the abortion facility where they will flush their baby down the toilet after taking two different medications, Mifepristone (blocks progesterone) and Misoprostol (triggers contractions).

ALL of the free-standing abortion facilities distributing the abortion pill across New Mexico are prescribing the medical abortions well beyond the FDA’s approved cut off of 10 weeks.

    • 7  New Mexico abortion facilities are distributing the abortion pill up to 11 weeks.
    • 3 dispense the pill up to 11 weeks 6 days.
    • Full Circle Health Center located in Las Cruces, New Mexico offers the abortion pill up to 12 weeks.
    • Ironically the Satanic Temple is the only abortion provider abiding by the FDA’s protocols and only distributing the abortion pill up to 10 weeks gestation.

Abortion Pills Are Dangerously Distributed Well Beyond 7 Weeks

While the FDA initially approved the abortion pill to only be administered up to 7 weeks gestation, in 2016 the FDA approved the abortion pill for use up to 10 weeks gestation but only when administered during an in-person visit where an ultrasound is performed to ensure that there in not an ectopic pregnancy. Abortion facilities across New Mexico are dangerously administering the abortion pill remotely with no in-person visit to unsuspecting women well beyond 10 weeks, in violation of FDA protocols.

According to Operation Rescue’s recently released 2024 Annual Report,

“It’s important to note that even the 10 week gestational cut-off is much later than what was originally approved by the FDA. Mifeprex (mifepristone) was first approved for chemical abortions in 2000 with a gestational cut-off of seven weeks. In 2016, the gestational cut-off was moved to 10 weeks, when paired with an in-person visit. This dangerous rollback ushered in a steady removal of safety regulations over the next several years.

Those removals came to a head in 2020, when the Biden administration used the COVID pandemic to temporarily suspend the requirement that abortion drugs must be given during an in-person visit with a doctor.

Shortly after Biden allowed the temporary suspension, the FDA made that change permanent, and abortion-pills-by-mail began to skyrocket. When a group of doctors dealing with growing complications from the reckless use of the abortion pill regimen tried to challenge these dangerous changes in the courts, the U.S. Supreme Court ultimately ruled the doctors had no standing and allowed all the rollbacks to stay in place.”

The Abortion Pill has a “Black Box” Warning

It is important to note that the abortion pill was approved by the FDA in 2000 to only be used up to 7 weeks gestation due to serious risks and health complications including death. In fact, the abortion pill comes with notorious “Black Box” warning.

    According to ConsumerSafety:

“What ‘Black Box’ Means: Drugs only receive this label in the case of serious, often deadly adverse reactions, which have been reported to the FDA after the drug was originally approved. In some cases, the manufacturers of these drug hid their knowledge of the side effects to speed the approval process, so the problems weren’t found until after release.”

A concise summary from ChatGPT explains,

“The abortion pill, also known as the medication abortion regimen, typically involves two drugs: mifepristone and misoprostol. The black box warning associated with mifepristone, which is the first drug in the regimen, is issued by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to highlight the serious risks that can occur with its use. The black box warning is the FDA’s most serious safety alert and is used when there are significant potential dangers that users need to be aware of.

In the case of mifepristone, the black box warning is related to:

    1. Risk of Serious Infection

    • There have been reports of sepsis, a life-threatening infection, following medication abortions, particularly in cases where an infection has spread after the procedure. The risk is higher when there is a retained pregnancy tissue or infection in the uterus.
    • Clostridium sordellii, a rare bacterium, has been implicated in some of these cases, which can cause severe infection and can be fatal if not treated promptly.

    2. Risk of Heavy Bleeding

    • Some women may experience heavy or prolonged bleeding following the use of mifepristone, which may require medical attention. While bleeding is a normal part of the abortion process, excessive or uncontrolled bleeding can pose a serious risk to health.

    3. Ectopic Pregnancy

    • The medication is not effective for terminating an ectopic pregnancy, where the fertilized egg implants outside the uterus, often in a fallopian tube. If the pregnancy is ectopic and treated with mifepristone, it can lead to complications such as rupture and internal bleeding, which may be life-threatening.

    4. Misuse or Unsupervised Use

    • The FDA also emphasizes that mifepristone should only be taken under medical supervision because improper use (such as using it without medical guidance or in cases where it is not indicated) can lead to serious complications.

The FDA ‘black box’ warning on the use of the abortion pill highlights the need for proper medical supervision, including screening for ectopic pregnancies and monitoring for potential complications. The warning serves as a precaution to inform patients and healthcare providers about these risks.”

According to a clinical trial conducted by the NIH titled, Deaths and Severe Adverse Events after the use of Mifepristone as an Abortifacient from September 2000 to February 2019.

There were 2660 (AER’s) Adverse Event Reports:

“2660 (83.20%) Codable US AERs. (Figure 1). Of these, 20 were Deaths, 529 were Life-threatening, 1957 were Severe, 151 were Moderate, and 3 were Mild.
20 were Deaths, 529 were Life-threatening, 1957 were Severe, 151 were Moderate, and 3 were Mild.

    The deaths included: 9 (45.00%) sepsis, 4 (20.00%) drug toxicity/overdose, 1 (5.00%) ruptured ectopic pregnancy, 1 (5.00%) hemorrhage, 3 (15.00%) possible homicides, 1 (5.00%) suicide, 1 (5.00%) unknown. (Table 1).

Retained products of conception and hemorrhage caused most morbidity. There were 75 ectopic pregnancies, including 26 ruptured ectopics (includes one death).”

    Documented Abortion Injuries

Since 2010, members of Abortion Free New Mexico have documented at least 50 abortion related injuries, including one death at abortion facilities across New Mexico. These documented abortion injuries were related to surgical abortions obtained by 911 records, confidential informants and eye witness testimony.

In conclusion, Tara Shaver spokeswoman for Abortion Free New Mexico issued the following statement:

“New Mexico has sadly become a hot spot for abortion tourism and unrestricted abortion. Be it late term abortions, or now chemical abortions, the New Mexico abortion cartel is hell bent on foisting the most dangerous abortion practices upon unsuspecting women. Chemical abortions are being distributed in New Mexico abortion facilities well beyond FDA approved protocols and remotely without any prior in-person screening nor follow up appointments afterwards.

Every day Abortion Free New Mexico volunteers are prayerfully positioned on the sidewalk to let women know that they have options and that abortion is a death sentence for their pre-born child and a risk to their own wellbeing. We pray for new leadership in this state so that there is some measure of accountability for the irresponsible, dangerous abortion expansion that is currently so rampant throughout the state.

In response, Abortion Free New Mexico is launching an interstate campaign UTURNFORLIFE.COM to encourage pregnant mothers to choose life and inform them of the risks posed by the unchecked New Mexico abortion industry, before they ever reach our state. It is our hope that women are empowered by this campaign to be mothers through the resources and help that will be provided for them by the pro-life community.

ABORTION FREE FOR ALL IN NEW MEXICO: TAXES FUND ABORTIONS FOR MINORS, ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS AND OUT OF STATE RESIDENTS

    By Bud Shaver,

Albuquerque, New Mexico- On August 5, 2024, New Mexico Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham announced that her administration launched a $400,000 ad campaign throughout Texas to recruit more abortionists to New Mexico.

    According to Newsmax

“The ad campaign, strewn across five major Texas newspapers and displayed across six billboards around the Houston Medical Center, is aiming to lure doctors to New Mexico, where they will have the ‘Freedom to Provide’ abortion, among other ostensible health services.”

For over eight years, New Mexico has ranked last in the nation for education (the entire tenure of governor Michelle Lujan Grisham) and consistently ranks as one of the poorest states in the country. In addition to using New Mexico tax dollars to recruit abortionists, New Mexico Medicaid fully funds abortions as well. Is it not obvious that tax dollars would be better utilized to help pull children out of poverty and provide them with a good education, not kill them?

Tara Shaver, spokeswoman for Abortion Free New Mexico issued the following statement:

“Using $400,000 of New Mexicans hard earned tax dollars to recruit abortionists to our state is disgraceful. The only thing New Mexico has to offer people is ABORTION under Michelle Lujan Grisham’s tenure as governor. Not a quality education, or a higher standard of life! The New Mexico Democrat controlled legislature couldn’t even deliver public safety measures to the people of New Mexico during its recent emergency special session. ABORTION and only ABORTION is all that the Democrat Party of New Mexico can agree upon. New Mexico has a vast supply of natural resources that should provide a high quality of life to every child in our state, but instead, the leaders only want to use our tax dollars to kill its most greatest asset, our children.”

New Mexico Department of Health Provides Tax Funded Abortions to “Undocumented People”

Abortion Free New Mexico discovered a website highlighted by the New Mexico Department of Health (pictured above) that is also promoting Medicaid funded abortions for (illegal) “undocumented” immigrant women and they emphatically state,

“A social security number is not required to get these benefits.”

In fact, this website boasts how Planned Parenthood of New Mexico intentionally skirts around regulatory requirements to provide abortions to (illegal) “undocumented” immigrant women.

In case there wasn’t enough proof of the abortion free for all in New Mexico, the radically pro-abortion network, “Hey Jane” spells is out pretty clearly:

    Tara Shaver continued,

“New Mexico Democrats have created an ‘abortion free for all’ in our state that has opened the door for minors, illegal immigrants and out of state residents to kill their children via abortion using public tax dollars! Enough is enough, New Mexicans must rise up against this corrupt government. Take action, make your voice heard, contact your elected officials and make a plan to vote in November!”

  • Staggering 565% INCREASE In Out of State Abortions In New Mexico Since ROE V. WADE Overturned

Staggering 565% INCREASE In Out of State Abortions In New Mexico Since ROE V. WADE Overturned

    By Bud Shaver,

Albuquerque, New Mexico- The leading pro-abortion research and policy organization, Guttmacher Institute, published the most recent data available revealing a staggering increase in abortions in New Mexico since Roe v. Wade was overturned in 2022. According to Guttmacher Institute, 71% of abortions performed in New Mexico were from out of state women in 2023. By contrast, in 2020, 38% of abortions performed in New Mexico were women from out of state. The total number of abortions performed in New Mexico in 2020 were 5,880 (38% out of state) therefore, 2,234 abortions were from out of state women. Shockingly, the total number

of abortions performed in New Mexico in 2023 were

20,950 (71% out of state) therefore, 14,875 abortions were from out of state women.

    • This represents a staggering 565% increase in women coming from other states to have their abortions performed in New Mexico since 2020!

According to a report from the Pinon Post,

14,200 Texas babies were killed in the womb in New Mexico, marking a tragic influx since the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade.”

That means, 95% of all out of state abortions performed in New Mexico are from women traveling from Texas.

Tara Shaver, spokeswoman for Abortion Free New Mexico issued the following statement:

Every day Abortion Free New Mexico volunteers minister to out of state women coming to Albuquerque for abortions. The majority of these women are from Texas as two Texas based abortion facilities relocated to Albuquerque after Roe v. Wade was overturned. These killing centers specifically target Texas women. Many of them are experiencing conflicting emotions as the abortion industry and its collaborators are using new methods of coercion by funding travel expenses and accommodations in addition to fully funding their abortions. It is time for more concerned citizens to rise up and be engaged in the battle for Life that we are now facing. Women deserve better than abortion, it is not healthcare and there are so many resources available to them.”

Since 2017, the average number of abortions performed in New Mexico was around 5,000 however, after Roe v. Wade was overturned nearly 21,000 abortions were performed in New Mexico in 2023.

    • This represents a 353% increase in the total number of abortions performed in New Mexico since 2017!

While many are celebrating the overturning of Roe v. Wade and championing the fact that banning abortions is now in the hands of each individual state, the sad reality is, the number of abortions performed annually in the USA actually increased from 930,160 in 2020, to 1,037,200 in 2023 according to the Guttmacher Institute.

    Tara Shaver continued,

Since Roe v. Wade was overturned in 2022, abortions have INCREASED as women just travel across state lines to kill their children. Pre-born babies all across America need and deserve constitutional personhood from the moment of conception. The United States Supreme Court and the U.S. Congress need to address the constitutional crisis that is looming for pre-born babies. How is the right to life lost by crossing a state line? This crisis is very reminiscent of the earliest days in this nation when free states and slave states existed. Surely we are not going back into that dark place where your place of residence determines your value.”

  • EXCLUSIVE: New Mexico Abortion Hotline Exposed

EXCLUSIVE: New Mexico Abortion Hotline Exposed

    By Bud Shaver,

Albuquerque, New Mexico- On June 24, 2023, Abortion Free New Mexico spokeswoman, Tara Shaver spoke with KOB 4 about New Mexico Governor, Michelle Lujan Grisham’s new abortion hotline. It is being called the “NM Reproductive Health Hotline ” and is linked to the New Mexico Department of Health’s (NMDOH) Abortion and Reproductive Health section which explicitly affirms that,

“Abortion is legal and accessible in New Mexico.”

Abortion Free New Mexico had it’s suspicions about the real purpose of this new initiative and Tara Shaver stated to KOB 4 during her interview the following,

“I can certainly appreciate that, you know, the governor is trying to make an effort to provide resources for women,’ said Shaver.

’The pro-life community is so vibrant, and we have so much to offer. However, local abortion facilities, the Department of Health, even public schools are not willing to share our information about the resources that are available. So I feel like this hotline is probably going to serve one purpose, and that’s to promote abortion and birth control.’”

In order to confirm exactly what this hotline offers Abortion Free New Mexico conducted its own investigation by calling the hotline.

Here is the 22 minute recorded conversation in its entirety:

The representative that answered the call confirmed that she was with the New Mexico Department of Health (NMDOH) and when the investigative caller tells her that she is 8 weeks pregnant and calling for resources, the NMDOH representative immediately assumes that the caller wants an abortion.

When the investigative caller says she’s not sure if she wants an abortion or to keep the baby and asks if there are pregnancy resources, the NMDOH representative gives her phone numbers for pro-abortion groups, “All Options” and “ReproCare”. The representative then circles back and gives the caller all of the Albuquerque abortion centers names, addresses and phone numbers.

The investigative caller then asks about other resources like maternity homes and housing during the pregnancy. The investigator is told to call the New Mexico Religious Coalition for Reproductive Choice (NMRCRC) for housing information. However, upon calling the NMRCRC a recording instructs women to visit their website and fill out their Abortion Fund Application.

The first thing you see on their website emphatically states,

“UNLESS YOU ARE SEEKING ASSISTANCE OBTAINING AN ABORTION, PLEASE DO NOT CALL OUR PATIENT HELPLINE.”

It’s unclear why the NMDOH would refer to this organization for housing as their stated mission is to ONLY help women seeking abortions by providing,

Plane tickets, meals, ground transportation, and clinic fees fully paid.”

During the investigation, the caller also asked about prenatal care and parenting classes and was told that all  hospitals provide those instead of referring to life affirming organizations like CareNet that provide free parenting classes outside of a hospital setting.

“It is misleading and downright dishonest for the Governor to state that the NM Reproductive Health Hotline is comprehensive. This couldn’t be further from the truth. During the investigation conducted by Abortion Free New Mexico, the New Mexico Department of Health representative had to research housing on the spot and only referred to domestic violence shelters and a radical group that ONLY helps women obtain abortions.

The investigative caller kept clarifying and asking whether or not the hotline had any actual reproductive health resources but was always referred to another extreme pro-abortion entity. Women calling this hotline are absolutely not given all of the comprehensive resources available to them in New Mexico, this hotline is primarily referring them to groups with an extreme pro-abortion bias.

Pro-life groups in New Mexico like the local maternity home, Casa De Mariposa located in Albuquerque and CareNet which offers statewide parenting classes, pregnancy tests as well as items for both and mom and baby, and even Options Beyond Adoption are blatantly excluded,” stated Tara Shaver, spokeswoman for Abortion Free New Mexico.

It’s truly a sad reality that the New New Mexico Department of Health is actively promoting abortions and as a result,  the number of abortions have more than doubled as the KOB 4 report mentioned above revealed,

“there were over 11,000 reported abortions statewide in 2022. Of those, over 6,000 were from out-of-state patients.”

The KOB 4 news coverage continued,

”[Tara] Shaver says she doesn’t want women to travel to New Mexico.

‘It’s a disservice to them. Because, you know, women deserve so much better than abortion. Women deserve to know, again, other options that are available to them,’ Shaver said.”

New Mexico pro-life organizations have so much to offer women with unplanned pregnancies.

In fact, Abortion Free New Mexico recently announced, Life Fund: Emergent Financial Support During Pregnancy.

  • Abortion Pill Ruling Could Shutter Five New Mexico Abortion Facilities

Abortion Pill Ruling Could Shutter Five New Mexico Abortion Facilities

    By Bud Shaver,

Albuquerque, New Mexico- On (Good Friday) April 7, 2023, a Texas U.S. District Judge Matthew Kacsmaryk ruled to suspend approval by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) of the abortion drug mifepristone. Mifepristone has a black box warning issued by the FDA, which is the strictest and most serious type of warning indicating serious or life threatening risks. However, it is being widely dispensed to unsuspecting women in abortion centers, by mail and most recently plans to obtain them over the counter at CVS and Walgreens has divided the nation.

    According to Operation Rescue,

“The implications of this decision are monumental, as more than half (53%) of all abortions committed in the U.S. currently are by use of mifepristone followed by misoprostol. As the number of chemical abortions has increased, so have abortion complications. The CDC’s latest data reveals that of approximately 620,327 abortions that took place in 2020, 12,460 mothers experienced some type of complication.”

In recent years, Abortion Free New Mexico documented and filed multiple complaints after uncovering abortion facilities in New Mexico that were administering the abortion pill in violation of FDA protocols, and beyond 70 days (10 weeks), which is the recommended usage.

The Biden administration has already stated that they plan to ignore the ruling. Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra appeared on CNN stating that not only has the administration filed an appeal, but that every option to make sure women can still use this drug to kill their babies is on the table.

In response to the federal judge’s ruling, halting the abortion drug, Becerra ranted on CNN,

“This is not America, [America] goes by the evidence, America does what’s fair, America does what is transparent and we can show that what we do is for the right reasons.”

In response, Tara Shaver, spokeswoman for Abortion Free New Mexico issued the following statement,

“The evidence actually proves that the abortion pill (mifepristone) has a track record of injuring women and is ‘black boxed’ by the FDA as dangerous. It’s certainly not fair that mifepristone literally starves a human baby to death in their mothers womb and the Biden Administration along with pro-abortion advocates want no transparency with regard to these truths. This current administration is simply pushing an extreme abortion agenda and there is no right reason to make sure that innocent human beings continue to die.”

    Impact on New Mexico

If the original Texas ruling stands or if the case makes it’s way to the U.S. Supreme Court it has the potential to shutter five New Mexico abortion facilities. In a state where radical Democrat leaders are doing everything in their power to keep killing children in the womb legal, this would be an amazing outcome.

“Dangerous abortion inducing drugs should never be administered to pregnant women, nor should they be sent by mail where homes become abortion centers. Women deserve so much more than simply prescribing abortion to solve their problems and it is our hope that all chemical abortions are halted immediately. The leaders of New Mexico need to quit playing politics with women and their pre-born babies lives and support legitimate healthcare protocols,” stated Tara Shaver.

New Mexico is one of twelve states that recently filed suit with the FDA seeking to remove safety restrictions on the abortion pill. According to the New York Times, “The suit argues that [the safety] rules applying to mifepristone unnecessarily limit patients’ access to medication abortion.”

Just hours after Texas U.S. District Judge Kacsmaryk issued his ruling, LifeSite News reported,

“However, just two hours after Kacsmaryk issued his order, a different judge in the state of Washington made a conflicting Order requiring the abortion drug to remain on the market in the states of Washington, Oregon, Arizona, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, New Mexico, Rhode Island, Vermont, Hawaii, Maine, Maryland, Minnesota, Michigan and the District of Columbia.

Kacsmaryk is a Trump administration appointee in Amarillo, Texas. The Washington judge, Spokane-based Judge Thomas O. Rice, is an Obama administration appointee.

It is noteworthy that the judge in Washington admitted there were serious issues with the FDA’s approval of the abortion drug and ‘potentially internally inconsistent FDA findings regarding mifepristone’s safety profile.’

These are ‘dueling’ cases that will both be appealed quickly to different Circuit Courts of Appeal. Very likely this will end up in the Supreme Court.”

Abortion Free New Mexico will be following this case closely and its impact upon New Mexico.

BREAKING: New Mexico No Longer Late-Term Abortion Capital

    By Bud Shaver,

    Albuquerque, New Mexico-
Abortion Free New Mexico has confirmed that the notorious Southwestern Women’s Options abortion facility is no longer performing third trimester abortions. Citing staff shortages and overwhelming clientele from out of state, they are now referring to other abortion facilities in Colorado, Maryland and Washington D.C.

Southwestern Women’s Options is the abortion facility where the late Carmen Landau specialized in providing third trimester abortions. Her sudden death is presumably in part the reason for this abrupt change.

Southwestern Women’s Options is, however, still offering abortion pills in clinic, and by mail, as well as first and second trimester abortions through 23.6 weeks of pregnancy. This means that Albuquerque currently has two abortion facilities that offer abortions up to six months of pregnancy, Southwestern Women’s Options and the University of New Mexico Center for Reproductive Health.

Tara Shaver, spokeswoman for Abortion Free New Mexico issued the following statement,

Since 2010 Abortion Free New Mexico has worked to see the day when Curtis Boyd and Southwestern Women’s Options would no longer give New Mexico the reputation of being the late-term abortion capital of the nation. After years of public exposure, relentless pressure and lots of prayer, t

hat day has finally come. This is a small victory, especially for third trimester babies, that Southwestern Women’s Options is no longer equipped to kill. Every abortion is a tragedy because it takes a human life but late-term abortions are particularly disturbing because they are performed on viable babies in the latest stages of pregnancy. We hope and pray that this is just the beginning of the end of all abortions in our state and we will keep fighting to be a voice for unborn children and to help women choose life with compassionate life affirming resources.”

SATANIC TEMPLE: Latest Group Intent On Expanding Abortion Services In New Mexico

    By Bud Shaver,

    Albuquerque, New Mexico-
In the wake of Roe vs. Wade being overturned, the Satanic Temple is the latest group that has expressed their intention to expand abortion services in New Mexico.

For its new facility, the temple said anyone in New Mexico seeking to perform its abortion ritual will be able to receive online medical services free of charge. Patients undergo a screening and virtual appointment before having their prescriptions sent to the clinic’s pharmacy partner, who will mail the medications in a discreet package, it said.

Since Roe vs. Wade was overturned on June 24, 2022, two abortion facilities have set up shop in New Mexico, one in Las Cruces and one in Albuquerque, New Mexico. This brings the total number of active abortion facilities in New Mexico to nine with at least four others (including (1) the “virtual” Satanic Temple clinic and (2) a $10 million dollar facility pledged by New Mexico Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham) expressing the desire to provide abortions in New Mexico.

    • (3) On December 7, 2022 Whole Woman’s Health announced that it had purchased a building in (Albuquerque) New Mexico and plans to provide abortion services.

Whole Woman’s Health is grateful to announce that we have purchased a building and we will soon offer a full range of abortion and sexual health care in New Mexico.”

    • (4) Valley Abortion Group, founded by Carmen Landau, announced its intention to open a facility in New Mexico to  provide abortions at all gestational ages. However, it is uncertain if their plans to open a new late-term abortion clinic in Albuquerque will succeed after the recent sudden death of abortionist Carmen Landau.

Valley Abortion Group will be the first 100% employee-owned, majority-BIPOC, women- and nonbinary-led abortion care facility in the US. We are a group of practitioners who are local to New Mexico, who have worked as a team for years. We provide expert, compassionate abortion care at all gestational ages.”

Tara Shaver, spokeswoman for Abortion Free New Mexico issued the following statement,

The Satanic Temple is, unfortunately, the latest group to capitalize on New Mexico’s abortion extremism. Satanists, extreme feminists and progressive Democrats are opening our state to the worst elements of society. Not only is New Mexico a destination for abortion tourism, it is now the destination for ‘religious abortion rituals’. It’s a sobering reality that the leaders of this state, who continue to push their radical pro-abortion agenda upon the people, have made an alliance with sinister forces.

In stark contrast to the pro-death agenda being foisted upon New Mexico, the pro-life community is working to empower women, protect children and build a culture of life.”

  • BREAKING: Babies Aborted In New Mexico Transported To Texas For Disposal

BREAKING: Babies Aborted In New Mexico Transported To Texas For Disposal

    By Bud Shaver

Albuquerque, New Mexico– Abortion Free New Mexico’s latest investigation has uncovered that Oncore Health Solutions (a conglomerate of Oncore Technology LLC and BioCycle Inc.) is transporting babies that are aborted in New Mexico across state lines to be disposed of as biohazard waste in the state of Texas. These disposal facilities are located in Amarillo and Grand Prairie, TX.

Due to the recent SCOTUS decision, Texas law now bans babies from being aborted. However, no law currently exists preventing aborted babies from the neighboring state of New Mexico from being transported to Texas and disposed of as, “biohazard waste”

“The fact that babies can’t be killed in Texas but aborted babies from New Mexico can be disposed of as biohazard waste in Texas by companies like Oncore/BioCycle must be remedied by the Texas legislature,” stated Tara Shaver of Abortion Free New Mexico.

This alarming discovery has come after months of documentation and several complaints with the New Mexico Environment Department.

In November 2020, local sidewalk advocates began sending Abortion Free New Mexico pictures of an unmarked waste hauler vehicle that routinely picked up the biohazard waste containers full of aborted babies that were killed at the Planned Parenthood surgical center in Albuquerque. Planned Parenthood performs abortions up to 19.6 weeks of pregnancy.

Abortion Free New Mexico filed a complaint with the New Mexico Environment Department (NMED) based on the statute, NMAC 20.9.5.14 (A) (7) and (8) which, requires commercial haulers of infectious waste to:

    • (7) conspicuously label all solid waste collection vehicles with the company,municipality, or county department name;
    • (8) conspicuously label all solid waste collection vehicles with the environment department registration number.

After a six month investigation the NMED determined that the company servicing Planned Parenthood was, “Oncore Technology LLC”, a waste hauler with an expired registration as of March 2019.

According to Thomas Simmons, the Operations Manager for Oncore Technology, they purchased BioCycle and no longer operated under the name “Oncore Technology” but are also known as Oncore Healthcare Solutions, LLC. However, they failed to re-register with the state of New Mexico and had been operating with multiple violations.

The NMED noted the following manifest violations with both the waste generator (Planned Parenthood) and the waste Hauler (Oncore Technology LLC.) These manifests accompany each pickup and transport of biohazard waste and document how much waste is being transported. On average there were two to three 28 gallon containers that were collected weekly from the Albuquerque Planned Parenthood surgical center between January-April 2021.

Of the 17 manifests Planned Parenthood submitted to NMED, all of the

“generator blocks of the special waste manifests were insufficiently completed.”

Oncore Technology LLC’s specific manifest violations are as follows:

    1. Oncore Technology LLC is currently an unregistered commercial hauler.
    2. The manifests used were in Oncore Technologies LLC’s name but BioCycle’s NMED commercial hauler registration number was used.
    3. The treatment facility block information required on the manifests was not completely filled-in and lacked the:
    • telephone number of the facility
    • total weight deposited/unloaded
    • printed name of the facility’s representative
    • the date of the signature
    • section, instead of an actual hand-written signature.
    • a signature stamp was used to “sign” the manifests in the treatment facility block

Oncore Technology was ultimately also found to be in violation of the following:

    1. Failure to re-register as a commercial hauler (unregistered commercial hauler), violation of 20.9.3.31.A NMAC, seventeen (17) instances of violation, occurring on or before January 8, 2021 to April 30, 2021;
    2. Misrepresentation of information on special waste manifests (used BioCycle’s NMED commercial hauler registration number), violation of 20.9.8.19.C NMAC, seventeen (17) instances of violation, occurring on or before January 8, 2021 to April 30, 2021;
    3. Failure to properly complete special waste manifests, violation of 20.9.8.19.C NMAC, seventeen (17) instances of violation, occurring on or before January 8, 2021 to April 30, 2021; and
    4. Failure to properly label vehicles for infectious waste removal, violation of 20.9.5.14.C (4) NMAC, seventeen (17) instances of violation, occurring on or before January 8, 2021 to April 30, 2021.

Just a Slap on the Wrist

In a letter dated May 19, 2021 from NMED Enforcement Officer Daniel Galasso to Amy Dickson, Chief Operating Officer of Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains, he simply instructs Planned Parenthood to begin filling out the special waste manifests properly to document chain of custody. Regarding Oncore Technology LLC, BioCycle and Oncore Health Technologies violations, they were instructed to correct the violations within 10 days. This amounts to nothing more than a slap on the wrist from the NMED even though there are legitimate documented violations of New Mexico statute that have occurred.

2nd Complaint Filed- Aborted Babies illegally transported in the Front Seat

(THESE RED BINS CONTAIN THE HUMAN REMAINS OF ABORTED CHILDREN.)

On April 7, 2022, Abortion Free New Mexico’s Tara Shaver filed an additional complaint with the New Mexico Environment Department after volunteers outside of the Albuquerque Planned Parenthood took pictures and video of Oncore/BioCycle waste haulers illegally placing biohazard containers in the front seat of a pickup truck. These red bins contained the human remains of aborted children. The vehicle still lacked proper identification in accordance with New Mexico statute.

Dan Galasso, Enforcement Coordinator and Environmental Scientist informed Tara Shaver that the company has been instructed to correct these items of non-compliance but at this time, there has been no disciplinary action taken.

Abortion Free New Mexico has sent letters to Oncore/BioCycle’s President, Otley Smith, CEO Vernon Wells and Vice President, R. Mason Bryant to urge them to sever ties with Planned Parenthood of New Mexico. The Project Weak Link initiative that Abortion Free New Mexico has teamed up with Created Equal to implement in New Mexico believes that,

“If abortionists are going to kill babies, they should be forced to dispose of the bodies by themselves. The abortion industry does not exist by itself. It is deeply ingrained in cultural institutions, norms, and economies. To end abortion, we must decrease the industry’s relevance by socially and financially isolating it from other industries.”

It’s time to implement the next phase of this initiative because the New Mexico Environment Department has failed to properly discipline Oncore/BioCycle for their violations. Abortion Free New Mexico may be calling on the public in the coming weeks to let their voices be heard by Oncore/BioCycle leaders as well as leaders in the Texas Legislature.

    Tara Shaver continued,

“Not only is Abortion Free New Mexico sounding the alarm about the transportation and disposal of aborted babies across state lines, we are also calling for the U.S. Congress to address the constitutional crisis that is looming for pre-born babies. How is the right to life lost by crossing a state line? This crisis is very reminiscent of the earliest days in this nation when free states and slave states existed. Surely we are not going back into that dark place where your place of residence determines your value. Pre-born babies all across America need and deserve constitutional personhood from the moment of conception.”

New Mexico Medicaid Spent Nearly $1,000,000 of Taxpayer Money To Fund Abortions From 2020-2021

    By Bud Shaver,

    Albuquerque, New Mexico-
Abortion Free New Mexico has obtained the most current Medicaid data from the New Mexico Human Services Department which shows how much state tax dollars are being used to fund abortions through New Mexico Medicaid.

    • New Mexico is currently one of 16 states that, due to a court order fully funds all abortions, even those in the third trimester.

In a public records request submitted on July 13, 2022, Abortion Free New Mexico’s Tara Shaver asked for information that is a matter of public record which included:

“1. Total number of abortions abortions paid for by New Mexico medicaid in 2020 and 2022. 2. Please include with specificity the week of pregnancy in which each abortion was performed and also the medical provider who was reimbursed for the procedure. 3. Total dollar amount that was paid for these procedures.”

Unfortunately, under the current administration only the total number of abortions and the total dollar amount reimbursed by New Mexico Medicaid in 2020 and 2022 was provided. This lack of transparency is in stark contrast to previous years that Abortion Free New Mexico has made public requests in order to inform the public about how their money is used to fully fund abortions using state tax dollars.

    • In 2020, New Mexico Medicaid funded 3,372 abortion procedures that resulted in expenditures to abortion providers totaling $386,096.06.
    • In 2021, the numbers rose as New Mexico Medicaid funded 3,955 abortion procedures that resulted in expenditures to abortion providers totaling $421,026.90.
    • This amounts to almost $1 million tax dollars funding 7,327 abortions over the course of two years alone!

On Wednesday, August 31, 2022 Governor Lujan Grisham signed an executive order pledging to designate $10 million dollars to fund a borderland abortion center in Dona Ana County. By signing this order she has vowed to use New Mexico tax dollars to fund out of state abortions, primarily for women who cross state lines to kill their unborn children. For her to be able to foist this radical agenda upon New Mexicans she would have to be re-elected and be able to get the funds approved through the state legislature. Abortion Free New Mexico has been working tirelessly to make sure this doesn’t happen by helping to get out the vote for pro-life candidates.

“Nearly $1,000,000 of our tax dollars that are already being paid out by New Mexico Medicaid over the past two years alone for 7,327 abortions should alarm us all and motivate us to act! While we can’t stop New Mexico Medicaid from funding abortions, we can work to prevent Michelle Lujan Grisham’s latest attempt to force us as New Mexican citizens to pay for an abortion center that will cater to out of state women seeking to kill their children by voting pro-life. It is vital that each New Mexican of conscience is mobilized to help get pro-life candidates elected in November. Early voting is right around the corner so time is of the essence to volunteer your time, talents and treasure to the candidate of your choice who will stand for life and make sure that Lujan Grisham’s nefarious plans don’t come to fruition,” stated Tara Shaver, spokeswoman for Abortion Free New Mexico.

Albuquerque, New Mexico- According to the most recent data, published in 2019 by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), New Mexico unfortunately leads the nation with the highest percentage of late-term abortions. In other words, late-term abortions represent 11.6% of all abortions performed in New Mexico. TABLE 10 of the CDC Abortion Surveillance — United States, 2019 report shows that New Mexico performed 406 late-term abortions (over 21 weeks gestation) which was 11.6% of the total number of abortions performed in the state (3,485) that year. By comparison, of the 43 states that met the CDC’s reporting requirements, (Nine states, California, District of Columbia, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York State, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin either did not report, did not report by gestational age, or did not meet reporting standards) Florida performed the most abortions according to TABLE 10 with 71,914 in 2019, however, 217 or 0.3% of the total number of abortions performed in Florida were over 21 weeks gestation.

Since 2010, Abortion Free New Mexico leaders Bud and Tara Shaver have reported (and coined the designation) that Albuquerque, New Mexico is the, “late-term abortion capital of the country” based on the groundbreaking research and undercover investigations that they have conducted. Virtually every major news source in the country has reported on this fact.

The New York Times was one of the earliest to report that Albuquerque, New Mexico is known as the “late-term abortion capital of the country” in 2013:

Albuquerque has become the latest flash point in the abortion wars, with Operation Rescue, the militant group based in Kansas, calling it the “late-term abortion capital of the country.” This is because a private clinic, Southwestern Women’s Options, is one of only a few nationwide that offers abortions after the sixth month of pregnancy.

The drive for a city referendum has been led here by a couple who trained with Operation Rescue in Kansas and moved here three years ago as anti-abortion “missionaries.”

“We felt called to come and serve in Albuquerque,” said Tara Shaver, 29. She and her husband, Bud, moved here largely to find a way to shut down Southwestern Women’s Options, she said.

The CDC report Abortion Surveillance — United States, 2019 published on November 26, 2021 confirms what Abortion Free New Mexico has been sounding the alarm on for many years.

It is important to note that while New Mexico performed the second highest number (406) of late-term abortions in 2019 behind New York City (1,096) only 2.2 percent of the total number of abortions performed (49,784) in New York City were late-term abortions. Additionally, according to a survey conducted by Abortion Free New Mexico, in conjunction with this report, no abortion clinic in the entire state of New York will perform an abortion beyond 24 weeks gestation. New Mexico on the other hand will perform full-term abortions up to the day of birth. In fact, Abortion Free New Mexico conducted an undercover investigation in 2017 that revealed that late-term abortionists at Southwestern Women’s Options located in Albuquerque, New Mexico will perform a full-term abortion at 37 weeks of pregnancy.

Undercover At 37 Weeks- Pressure to Abort! from Abortion Free New Mexico on Vimeo.

The designation that Albuquerque, New Mexico is the “late-term abortion capital of the country” takes into consideration not only the high number of late-term abortions performed after 20-21 weeks gestation, but also the fact that New Mexico has become the hub for abortion tourism where women travel to New Mexico for full-term abortions well into the third trimester because their state has either:

    1. Enacted common sense legislation prohibiting late-term abortions, or
    2. As is the case with the handful of radically pro-abortion states, where there aren’t necessarily laws restricting abortions, abortionists regulate themselves by refusing to perform abortions beyond a certain point.

For example, while New York performs abortions over 21 weeks gestation, women travel from New York to New Mexico to obtain third trimester abortions. In fact, in 2013 Abortion Free New Mexico leaders, with the help of Operation Rescue brought national attention to the fact that a woman was severely injured after traveling from New York to obtain an abortion at 35 weeks gestation at Southwestern Women’s Options, located in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Southwestern Women’s Southwestern Women’s Options, owned and operated by Curtis Boyd who specializes in third trimester abortions, is drawing women from all across the nation, and even the world, for the latest possible full-term abortions. Disturbingly, Albuquerque based late-term abortionist, Curtis Boyd, takes great pride in this. A fact that he openly admitted when asked in a 2017 interview,

So when he’s asked about what he thinks when he hears Albuquerque described as “the late-term abortion capital of the nation”—a term the Shavers take credit for coining—Boyd responds wryly.

“A great sense of pride,” he says.

It is necessary to note that both Maryland and Colorado are also destinations for third-trimester abortions, however Maryland did not meet the CDC reporting requirements and according to the CDC data, Colorado performed 173 late-term abortions (1.3 percent of the total abortion rate) in 2019 compared to 406 late-term abortions performed in New Mexico.

Late-term abortions are performed over a 3-4 day period. It includes an injection into the mother’s womb on the first day which causes a fetal heart attack. Over the course of the next few days, the cervix is artificially dilated so that the mother can be induced to deliver her stillborn child. This is called the induction method and occurs at an out patient clinic setting or in a local hotel. Late-term abortions are never performed when the mother’s life is at risk, the procedure alone takes too much time to benefit a woman who is in a dire situation. In fact, this abortion method has many risks and is responsible for the death of at least one local New Mexico woman, Keisha Atkins in 2017. A late-term abortion in New Mexico can cost as much as $17,000.

The University of New Mexico (UNM) also performs late-term abortions up to 24 weeks of pregnancy at their free standing abortion facility in Albuquerque, NM. This location in particular is the the focus of Abortion Free New Mexico’s “No Sidewalk Without the Savior” prayer campaign that is launching on April 1, 2022. Tara Shaver of Abortion Free New Mexico issued the following statement,

“New Mexico currently has zero laws protecting pregnant women and their unborn babies from dangerous and barbaric late-term abortions. It is the absence of laws and the unwillingness of our legislators to come to the table to seek the wellbeing of both mother and child that has made us an abortion magnet, even in the latest stages of pregnancy. Abortion Free New Mexico is working many angles to build a culture that protects life, because every life is unique, precious and unrepeatable.”

These extreme late term abortions are occurring all across America on healthy mothers carrying healthy babies.

The 28 states that have been contacted during this undercover series are: Alabama, Minnesota, Iowa, Utah, Virginia, Nebraska, Connecticut, Arkansas, Texas, Georgia, Arizona, Massachusetts, New York, Oregon, Nevada, Illinois, New Jersey, Ohio, Montana, Wyoming, California, Florida, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Washington, Maryland, Colorado and New Mexico. 1. NEW MEXICO ABORTION CARTEL EXPOSED: Abortion Free New Mexico released a 6 Part Series exposing the New Mexico Abortion Cartel. Abortion Free New Mexico documented the Abortion Landscape Shift in New Mexico since 2010, in parts 1-6 of this series. These reports highlight how the abortion cartel is in full retreat and that their plans of expansion throughout New Mexico have been stifled. We have a watchful eye on the entire state’s abortion facilities and have plans to continue working to systematically see that these facilities close down until New Mexico is an abortion free state.

    2. UNDERCOVER AT 37 WEEKS PROJECT: In this undercover project Abortion Free New Mexico takes viewers inside the notorious Southwestern Women’s Options (SWO) late term abortion facility. This project combines raw footage of dialogue with clinic staff and exclusive interviews with the undercover investigator detailing her unique account of what it was like to go inside of a late term abortion center while pregnant at 37 weeks gestation. The investigation also uncovered that the University of New Mexico (UNM), a publicly funded institution, is willing to collude with late term abortionists to deliver dead babies at UNM Hospital once a deadly injection is administered by abortionists at Southwestern Women’s Options, the nation’s most notorious late term abortion killing center.

    3. LATE TERM ABORTION ACROSS AMERICA: Abortion Free New Mexico partnered with Priests for Life in this nation-wide project to expose that Late Term Abortion is more common in America than most people believe. In fact, this undercover project exposed that 28 states across America perform late term abortions. In all, Abortion Free New Mexico and Priests for Life have released 35 video’s that expose, LATE TERM ABORTION ACROSS AMERICA.

    4. EXPOSED: NEW MEXICO ABORTION CLINICS ARE VIOLATING FDA PROTOCOLS In an undercover investigation, Abortion Free New Mexico called Hilltop Women’s Reproductive Clinic in Santa Teresa, and Southwestern Women’s Options in New Mexico to determine whether or not they are compliant with the prescriber agreement required by the FDA to prescribe Mifeprex (Mifepristone). Our investigation reveals that neither abortion facility has the proper ultrasound to diagnose ectopic pregnancies, which is a clear violation of the REMS requirements. As outlined in the FDA approved REMS document, prescribers of the abortion drug, Mifeprex (Mifepristone) must have the “ability to diagnose ectopic pregnancies.”

HUSH Film at UNM: Overcoming BIAS concerning Women’s Health

    By Bud Shaver,

Albuquerque, NM- Abortion Free New Mexico and Students for Life UNM hosted a FREE screening of the HUSH – Feature Documentary and held a Q&A session afterwards at The University of New Mexico – UNM.

This event was not Pro-Choice vs. Pro-Life… but PRO-INFORMATION!

Click here to watch the trailer

We extended an invitation to several pro-abortion student groups at UNM and even asked them to include a physician of their “Choice” for the Q&A session…but they only showed up to protest and steal ALL of our information off our table!

IRONICALLY the Director of HUSH, Punam Kumar Gill, is a Pro-Choice feminist who produced the HUSH film to begin a healthy conversation about how LEGITIMATE fact-based scientific research proving the harmful effects of abortion is being suppressed by the “Pro-Choice” community. She saw that the BIAS among her own base must be addressed if there will ever be a chance to truly #StartAHealthyConversation about abortion and women’s health…

Despite Abortion Free New Mexico and Students for Life UNM’s willingness to reach out to the “Pro-Choice” community in Albuquerque, they refused to participate in a healthy conversation surrounding the facts presented in HUSHfilm.com

(Pictured- Fr. Stephen Imbarrato, Tara Shaver, physician Maryrose Turner, and Emily President of Students for Life UNM)

Tara Shaver issued the following statement,

“Abortion always ends the life of a child, but women have no idea how abortion will effect them in the years to come. The majority of ‘pro-choice’ proponents and abortion mills in this nation are not informing women of the true nature of abortion when it pertains to women’s health. This is why I applaud Punam Kumar Gill, the director, of HUSHfilm.com and the producers who had the courage and strength to go against the tide amongst her own ‘pro-choice’ community.

The information presented in HUSH is invaluable and relevant in today’s culture where abortion is used as birth control and is often the only choice that women with unplanned pregnancies are offered help for among the radicalized ‘pro-choice’ community.

I’ve witnessed this firsthand. A few months ago I took a teenage pregnant mother to her first OBGYN prenatal appointment at a University of New Mexico health clinic. That morning right before her appointment she had an argument in the waiting room with her teenage boyfriend and when we were taken back to visit with a doctor this mom was visibly upset. Pregnancy can be a difficult and emotional time for any woman, but how do you think the doctor responded to this situation?
Instead of providing positive reinforcement that this too shall pass, the University of New Mexico doctor immediately questioned if she wanted to keep the baby and assured her that she still had options and could terminate the pregnancy! If life throws the smallest curveball at a young mom who is pregnant the ‘pro-choice’ world tells her that having an abortion will somehow remedy her situation. However, all the abortion will do is rob her from indescribable joy and potentially leave her scarred both physically and emotionally in ways that are never explained to her beforehand.
When women are 20 and have an abortion they don’t think about how it will negatively effect their physical or mental health when they are 30, 40 or 50. All women need to unite together and stand for the truth about how abortion profoundly impacts those who obtain them. I proudly stand with those like Punam who are willing to use their voice for what is best for women despite any presuppositions.”

45 Years Later, Corruption In New Mexico, We Are Here To End It

This January marked 45 years of legalized pre-born child killing in America. It is devastating to think of the multitudes of God’s masterpieces that have been deprived of life outside the womb. As a nation we must confess and repent of the sin of abortion that permeates our culture. These innocent babies desperately need us as a people to stand up for them, to act on their behalf and do everything in our power to protect them. As pro-life missionaries we are committed to doing this and to closing the remaining 5 abortion centers in our state. New Mexico will one day be an Abortion Free state. The Lord sustains us and your prayers, encouragement and support make our life saving efforts possible.

Sanctity of Life Month January 2018

This month, known as Sanctity of Life month, we were SO blessed to visit 5 different local pro-life churches. This was an answer to prayer as we set our minds to be more intentional in reaching out to churches to inspire, encourage and equip fellow believers to stand up for the babies. Please pray for all of the wonderful new people we met this month who are eager to be informed and find ways to plug in. It was so nice to meet all of you!

During this month we also joined fellow pro-lifers in Santa Fe for the annual SOLAUD march, we didn’t simply march though… we collected petition signatures for Michelle Garcia Holmes who needed help to get on the republican ballot to run for Lt. Governor of New Mexico. Please keep her in prayer as she heads into campaign season.

In Albuquerque, our friends organized some amazing efforts to light up the darkness. We joined them for a 2.5 mile 1st Annual March For Life in Albuquerque, around the University of New Mexico, the heart of the NM Abortion Cartel. We joined the pro-life Messianic community for prayer and fellowship on Shabbat, the eve of Pro-lIfe Sunday in ABQ as well…and then we took our prayerful presence out onto the streets to be a visible witness for life. Thank you for having us!

Collaboration with Priests for Life: Exposing Late Term Abortions Across America

We continued our months long collaboration with Priests for Life by continuing to expose late term abortion in America. Albuquerque is the late term abortion capital where abortions are performed up to the day of birth, but abortions after 20 weeks of pregnancy occur nationwide. This month alone we released 14 undercover calls from 14 states where elective late term abortions are taking place on healthy moms carrying healthy babies. A total of 36 of these undercover calls have been made by Tara and were used as a means to educate the pro-life community, the general public and leading up to the senate vote on the Pain Capable Unborn Child Protection Act.

This nationwide investigation revealed that 28, over half of the states in our country, perform elective late term abortions beyond 5 months of pregnancy! Tara posed as 33 weeks of pregnant in one call to Albuquerque’s late term abortion center and was offered an appointment. Unfortunately, most politicians don’t want to end abortion (BUT WE DO) and the democrats in D.C. blocked the vote on this legislation that would protect babies from 20 weeks of pregnancy and beyond if passed.

Corruption in New Mexico: Attorney General Fails to Prosecute Abortion Cartel

In July 2015, Tara filed a formal complaint with New Mexico Attorney General, Hector Balderas’ office regarding late term abortion mill, Southwestern Women’s Options whom we believe to be in violation of at least one state law. The complaint was later amended to include another statute, the Maternal Fetal and Infant Experimentation Act.

Balderas, unfortunately, put his party and political aspirations before his Catholic faith and before the babies being slaughtered in New Mexico by finding no violation of either laws. Thankfully, at the request of Congressman Steve Pearce, the DOJ has asked the FBI to review the case, please pray with us that the FBI will take an honest look at these violations and prosecute these members of the New Mexico abortion cartel. Tara and our Attorney issued the following statements in response to Balderas’ decision.

“Laws that are overlooked and unenforced are a disservice to everyone, and in this case to the babies who are viewed as experimental research material instead of human beings. Balderas only furthers this mindset by failing to act justly in prosecuting those that are actively harvesting and transferring aborted baby remains. For any reasonable person this reality should shake us to our core and encourage us to keep moving forward seeking justice for all,” stated Tara Shaver, spokeswoman for Abortion Free New Mexico.

Angelo Artuso, Attorney for Abortion Free New Mexico issued the following statement:

“I am very disappointed but, unfortunately, not surprised by the Attorney General’s conclusions regarding the ongoing trade in baby body parts here in New Mexico.  After all, we live in a State where aborting a baby in utero is lawful through all nine months of pregnancy.  Under any common sense reading of New Mexico’s Maternal, Fetal and Infant Experimentation Act, the actions by SWO and UNM violate the law.  If the statute is not going to be enforced as written, then I would strongly urge the Legislature to revisit the question of whether an unborn child who has been lawfully killed in this State should be subjected to the further indignity of being carved up and experimented upon like a piece of animal flesh.  It is time for our elected officials to stop hiding behind convenient definitions which provide that an unborn child is not human, or not a person.  The use of aborted baby parts for any purpose should be repugnant to all civilized people.  To deny this truth is to join the ranks of Mao, Stalin, Idi Amin, Dr. Josef Mengele, and every other tyrant who deals with inconvenient people by denying that they are people.  I pray that New Mexico will find its way back to a higher standard.”

Thank you for standing with us for life!

We are a Christian missionary family serving in Albuquerque, NM. Putting our faith into action, for the past 7 years we have exposed Albuquerque as the late term abortion capital of the nation and have worked to bring accountability to an unregulated abortion industry that is killing children in their mothers wombs up to the day of birth.

In order to be the most effective in our pro-life ministry, we do this important work full time while homeschooling our children and raising them to have a biblical worldview. We rely solely on the provision of the Lord and individuals like you to provide for our daily needs.

    Blessings, Bud and Tara Shaver

    • Report by Priests for Life, the nation’s largest Catholic pro-life organization dedicated to ending abortion and euthanasia.

As Alveda King, director of Civil Rights for the Unborn, and Priests for Life staff have begun calling U.S. senators’ offices about the upcoming vote on the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act, Abortion Free New Mexico and Priests for Life today released two new undercover calls to Planned Parenthood abortion centers that perform late term-abortions beyond 20 weeks of pregnancy. These abortions are being performed on healthy mothers carrying healthy babies.

If passed by the Senate and signed by President Trump, the Pain-Capable bill would ban abortion after 20 weeks, with some exceptions.

Planned Parenthood is the nation’s largest abortion provider killing over 321,384 babies in 2017 alone. In 2016 Planned Parenthood received $543.7 million tax payer dollars from the U.S. government and in spite of being a 501c3 non-profit organization they profited $98.5 million dollars in 2017.

Father Frank Pavone of Priests for Life and Bud and Tara Shaver of Abortion Free New Mexico released the following statement regarding the latest calls:

“Despite the claims that Planned Parenthood cares so much about women, the organization is not doing abortions for free. In fact, this undercover investigation exposes that Planned Parenthood in Salt Lake City, Utah, charges the highest fee of any abortion provider in the nation, a staggering $4,000 for an abortion at 20 weeks of pregnancy.

“In the second undercover call exposing Planned Parenthood’s complicity in late-term abortions, Iowa is revealed to be another state performing abortions up to 21 weeks of pregnancy. In July 2017, Iowa lowered its abortion limit from 22 weeks to 21 weeks of pregnancy. By reducing the gestational limit by just one week, lives have been saved.

“Next week the Senate will have the ability to pass legislation that will save even more lives by ensuring that every state in America will protect pain-capable babies starting at 20 weeks of pregnancy.

“Contact your senators, email them these videos, and urge them to support the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act. This is a matter of life and death.”

Evangelist King noted that in her phone calls to Senate staffers, she is encouraging the lawmakers to vote for that bill, and letting them know she is praying for them.

“I pray that God leads every man and woman in the Senate to do the right thing and vote to save the babies,” she said. “It’s a small step to take, and it’s the right step.”

A staffer at the Richmond Medical Center for Women is adamant that the fee of $1,700 must be paid on the first day of the two-day procedure, and if the mom doesn’t have a ride home the second day, she’ll be admitted to the hospital for $9,000 out-of-pocket cost.

In a statement released today, Bud and Tara Shaver of Abortion Free New Mexico and Father Frank Pavone of Priests for Life said

“While abortion advocates claim that abortions are safe and rare, this investigation has revealed that late-term abortions are a common occurrence in many states all across the country. Second-trimester abortions are so risky for the mother that, in Virginia, abortionists are required to complete the final day of the procedure at a local hospital.

“Not only do late term abortions put the lives of women at risk, the procedure itself involves the painful dismemberment of the baby in the womb. In fact, Supreme Court Justice Kennedy, in his dissent to the U.S. Supreme Court’s 2000 Stenberg v. Carhart decision, observed that in dismemberment abortions, “The fetus, in many cases, dies just as a human adult or child would: It bleeds to death as it is torn limb from limb. The fetus can be alive at the beginning of the dismemberment process and can survive for a time while its limbs are being torn off.”

The U.S. Senate has the opportunity to put an end to late-term abortions by passing the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act (S. 1922). Please contact your Senators and urge them to pass this common-sense legislation that will protect both mother and child from dangerous late term abortions.”

“Carhart has a sordid history of bouncing from state to state, performing abortions into the latest stages of pregnancy. This notorious circuit riding abortionist’s opportunistic manipulation of the varying late-term abortion laws nationwide, resulted in the tragic death of Jennifer Morbelli in Maryland in February 2013, due to complications sustained during a third-trimester abortion at 33 weeks. The abortionist had already left Maryland to return to Nebraska when Mrs. Morbelli went into distress. Her family had to take her a local emergency room, where she died.

“Carhart’s careless and deadly behavior is the result of inconsistent laws between the states and demonstrates how vitally urgent it is for the Senate to pass the Pain- Capable Unborn Child Protection Act, scheduled for a vote next week. This bill will protect babies at 20 weeks of development and beyond and will make it impossible for abortionists like Carhart to kill babies in the late second trimester and third trimesters of pregnancy.”

    • A previous recording in this undercover investigation revealed Carhart’s willingness to kill healthy babies of healthy mothers up to 28 weeks into pregnancy in Bethesda, MD

Priests for Life is leading a campaign to urge Democratic incumbents up for re-election in 10 Red States to vote in favor of the Pain-Capable Bill. Residents of the 10 states have been invited to sign an open letter to their senators.

It’s $2,200 out-of-pocket to kill a baby at 20 weeks at the Hartford Women’s Center in Connecticut.

The staffer there who answered a call from pro-life activist Tara Shaver seemed almost reluctant to give out information about abortion limits and costs to the caller. But since the abortion business exists to make money, she does ultimately tell Tara what she wants to know: Abortion is an elective procedure for healthy babies of healthy mothers.

Father Frank Pavone of Priests for Life and Bud and Tara Shaver of Abortion Free New Mexico released the following statement regarding this latest call:

“In the 30th undercover call released by Abortion Free New Mexico and Priests for Life, Connecticut is exposed as yet another state in America performing elective late-term abortions on healthy mothers carrying healthy babies up to 22 weeks of pregnancy. The Hartford Women’s Center charges $2,200 for abortion at 20 weeks.

“We agree with President Donald J. Trump’s assertion in his historic speech to the March for Life on Jan. 19. The president said: ‘As you all know, Roe versus Wade has resulted in some of the most permissive abortion laws anywhere in the world. For example, in the United States, it’s one of only seven countries to allow elective late-term abortions along with China, North Korea and others… It is wrong. It has to change.’

“We stand with President Trump and join him in calling upon the Senate to pass the Pain- Capable Unborn Child Protection Act and send it to his desk for signing, thereby putting an end to painful late-term abortions nationwide.”

At an abortion mill in Little Rock, staff sticks to the tired old mantra, “It’s your body, it’s your choice.”

Abortion Free New Mexico and Priests for Life released another undercover phone call today as part of its months-long effort to expose the reality of late-term abortion. In her call to Little Rock Family Planning Services, pro-life activist Tara Shaver learns that abortion is legal for healthy moms of healthy babies until 21 weeks.

When asked if there are any laws against aborting a healthy baby so late in pregnancy, a staffer named Heather responds: “It’s up to you. That’s your choice. It’s your body, it’s your choice.” Heather also quotes prices: $1,750 for 20 weeks, $2,000 at 21 weeks.

In a statement released with the call, Bud and Tara Shaver of Abortion Free New Mexico and Father Frank Pavone of Priests for Life said:

“Even though Arkansas is considered to be a very pro-life state, in this 29th undercover recording, late-term abortions on healthy mothers carrying healthy babies are business as usual. This has been revealed to be the case time and time again all across America.

Despite claims that late-term abortions are rare and only done in extreme cases, this investigation has conclusively established that late-term abortions are primarily elective procedures. Pre-born babies are being exterminated every single day, brutally ripped out of the sanctuary of their mothers’ wombs. This cannot be ignored by our leaders any longer; please speak up for these babies by contacting your Senators and urging them to vote for the Pain Capable Unborn Child Protection Act.”

    • Report by Priests for Life, the nation’s largest Catholic pro-life organization dedicated to ending abortion and euthanasia.

The 28th undercover recording released by Abortion Free New Mexico and Priests for Life demonstrates the dire need for a federal law protecting children in the womb from abortions after 20 weeks of pregnancy.

Southwestern Women’s Surgery in Dallas, Texas is another abortion mill performing abortions up to 22 weeks of pregnancy on healthy babies who could live outside the womb if given the chance. In this recording the undercover caller probes the abortion worker by asking what would happen if she had to postpone her abortion beyond the 22-week Texas limit and is told that she would simply cross the state line from Texas to their sister clinic located in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Bud and Tara Shaver of Abortion Free New Mexico and Father Frank Pavone of Priests for Life issued the following statement today:

“By crossing the border from one state to another, a woman is able to obtain an elective abortion into the third trimester of pregnancy. Their sister clinic is the notorious Southwestern Women’s Options, which earlier in this investigation scheduled an undercover caller posing as 30 weeks pregnant for a third trimester abortion, simply because ‘life happens’ and having another child would put undue added strain on her marriage.

“As shocking as it is for the American people to learn about the prevalence of late-term abortions, it is equally disturbing that the abortion industry is capitalizing on the lack of a federal mandate to protect pre-born babies in the second and third trimesters of pregnancy.

Contact your Senators and urge them to support the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act so that every baby over 20 weeks old in the womb is protected throughout this nation.”

Apparently abortions are sold at a discounted rate for some moms at the Feminist Women’s Health Center in Atlanta.

In the latest undercover call released by Priests for Life and Abortion Free New Mexico, the staffer who answered the phone wants to know if the caller qualifies for a discount rate by having Medicaid or serving in the military. The full rate for those healthy moms who want to abort a healthy baby at 20 weeks, it will cost $1,670.

Father Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life, and Bud and Tara Shaver of Abortion Free New Mexico released the following statement today:

“Abortion Free New Mexico and Priests for Life continue to document states all across America that are performing late-term abortions beyond 20 weeks of pregnancy. Georgia law allows babies to be killed in the womb up to 22 weeks of pregnancy. Feminist Women’s Health Center screens patients to see if they have Medicaid to fund the abortion which, at 20 weeks of pregnancy, is $1,670. They also ask if you are “serving in the military” to qualify for a discount. Once again, this investigation reveals that it only takes a matter of minutes for a healthy mother who is pregnant with a healthy baby to schedule a late-term abortion in this country.”

Abortionist DeShawn Taylor, who previously was caught on undercover video joking about what a workout it is to dismember a baby in a late-term abortion, is apparently still building her biceps.

In the latest undercover call released by Priests for Life and Abortion Free New Mexico, a staffer at Taylor’s Phoenix abortion mill books an appointment for a woman who said she is a healthy mom pregnant with a healthy baby.

The majority of the call is spent talking about price — $2,300 for an abortion at 22 weeks and $2,500 one week later.

Father Frank Pavone, national director of Priests for Life, and Bud and Tara Shaver of Abortion Free New Mexico, released the following statement regarding the call:

“Arizona is another state in the long list of places across America where late-term abortions are a common occurrence. In this undercover call to Desert Star Family Planning, the caller makes sure that she can have an abortion at 22 weeks of pregnancy even though she is healthy and there are no abnormalities with the baby. She is told the clinic does elective abortions through 23 weeks and 6 days of pregnancy.

“DeShawn Taylor, the abortionist at Desert Star Family Planning, who was confirmed to be the one to perform this particular late-term abortion, made national news earlier this year when the Center for Medical Progress released footage of conversations with her about the harvest and sale of aborted baby remains. She was caught on video joking about the brutality of the late-term procedure stating, ‘It takes a bit more [arm strength to dismember a late term baby]. I have to hit the gym for this.’

“In addition to these babies being fully developed enough to survive outside the womb between 22-24 weeks of pregnancy, their lucrative body parts, organs and tissues are then being harvested for experimental research.”

Priests for Life this week hosted a briefing in the Senate Russell Building in Washington, D.C., on the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act and specifically on undercover calls Priests for Life has released. House and Senate staffers attended.

Also this week, Father Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life, hosted a national webcast on the same topic. You can listen to the webcast here.

These informational sessions focused on a series of undercover calls that Priests for Life is commissioning with Abortion Free New Mexico The calls are being made to legal abortion clinics and are designed to educate the public that healthy babies carried by healthy mothers are being killed in the later stages of pregnancy. This information can help prepare the U.S. Senate for the vital vote coming up on the Pain-Capable bill this month.

Today, the 25th undercover call was released, demonstrating that abortion to 23 weeks and six days weeks is legal in Massachusetts and available to anyone who can come up with $3,300. Previous calls have revealed that healthy babies can be scheduled for termination at 32 weeks.

In a joint statement released today, Father Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life, and Bud and Tara Shaver of Abortion Free New Mexico, noted that:

“Late-term abortions are occurring in our country more frequently than most Americans are led to believe. This investigation has revealed that late-term abortions are an elective procedure, women do not have to be experiencing health issues and there doesn’t need to be anything abnormal about the baby they are carrying to legally obtain one.

“In Brookline, Massachusetts, the abortion worker makes it clear that Women’s Health Services does elective late-term abortions through 23 weeks and 6 days of pregnancy simply because state law allows it. Babies at this age are able to live outside the womb and they should have every legal right to do so.

“Please contact your U.S. Senator and urge them to vote for the Pain Capable Unborn Child Protection Act so that these babies can be protected from inhumane late term abortions.”

ACTION ITEM: Help us Protect Babies in the Womb Who Feel Pain

    By Bud Shaver

Albuquerque, NM– Abortion Free New Mexico has been working with Priests for Life to release 24 undercover phone calls to late term abortion mills across 16 states and the District of Columbia (D.C.). Each one of these calls documents the willingness of the abortion industry to perform late term abortions on healthy mothers who are pregnant with healthy babies from 20 weeks of pregnancy and beyond. These calls cut through the pro-abortion rhetoric and exposes their lies about the necessity of late term abortions. These recordings give the public the opportunity to hear the abortion industry in their own words, that late term abortions are common and done electively on babies that are healthy.

Why support the Pain Capable Unborn Child Protection Act?

    • By focusing on pain, we are able to humanize the baby in the womb. the questions become: Who feels pain? How do they feel pain? How do we stop them from feeling pain?
    • Every life is unique, precious, and unrepeatable. This legislation is a small step toward protecting every baby. If we can end late term abortion at 20 weeks, we will be halfway towards our ultimate goal: Over turning Roe vs. Wade and protecting all of the babies!
    • Public support is overwhelmingly behind this legislation. The pro-life community and the pro-abortion contingency agree that late term abortion is too extreme and must end.
    • This legislation has been passed in multiple states (17) across America.

    What can you do?

    • Call and email your U.S. Senators and ask them to support the Pain Capable Unborn Child Protection Act. Find your Senator here.
    • If you have already contacted your U.S. Senator, contact them AGAIN.
    • Share this information and encourage everyone you know to contact their U.S. Senator.
    • Share these video’s and information on social media.

“We want people to download the recordings and transcripts and share them far and wide, in their churches, on social media and in whatever other way they can,” Father Frank Pavone, national director of Priests for Life.

    For Clergy

“We want pastors to preach about this and candidates to be challenged in town hall meetings,” Fr. Pavone said. Tara Shaver of Abortion Free New Mexico and Irene Zamorano, a member of Silent No More Awareness Campaign, will be guests on the webcast.
