Albuquerque, NM.- The legislative session that just ended in Santa Fe was truly remarkable, 53 legislators heard the voice of the people of New Mexico and opposed pro-death legislation ENSURING that LIFE PREVAILED in New Mexico.
The Republican legislators in both chambers had a 100% voting record in defense of LIFE and 14 democrats in the House and Senate broke rank with their party and voted for life and against HB 51 Criminalize Abortion. This session the voices of New Mexicans were heard loud and clear and we were reminded that nothing is impossible for God.
The pro-abortion extremists have vowed to carry this legislation again and we want to make sure that these legislators are encouraged to stand firm for life in the next legislative session.

Albuquerque, NM.- After five hours ministering to couples and praying fervently inside a Washington D.C. surgical abortion facility Bud Shaver, Fr. Stephen Imbarrato and Lauren Handy were arrested and spent 5 hours in jail. They were arraigned the next day and will return to D.C. for a court date in May.
Jesus told his disciples, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.”

“In New Mexico it’s currently a fourth degree felony to commit an abortion. When Roe vs. Wade is overturned New Mexico will be one step ahead and the law passed by the New Mexico legislature in 1969 that predated 1973 will go into immediate effect. That’s why it’s so important for President Donald J. Trump to take direct action and issue the Personhood Proclamation by way of an executive order. This will create a constitutional crisis that we feel is necessary for the Supreme Court to finally step in and reevaluate the indisputable science that establishes that life begins at conception and the abundant case law already on the books all across the country. Washington, D.C.- On March 19, 2019 Bud Shaver of Abortion Free New Mexico joined 9 others in our nations capital in what is known as Red Rose Rescues. Two rescue teams, led by Catholic priests, entered two Washington D.C. abortion facilities Tuesday morning.
Pro-lifers quietly approach mothers scheduled for abortions and offer them red roses as a symbol of life…thus the name “Red Rose Rescue.” Attached to each rose is a card which states: “God is love and he loves you and your unborn baby. Don’t be afraid. Your life circumstances will change and this baby will give you boundless joy… There is help for you and your baby.” The reverse of the card contained phone numbers of local pregnancy help centers.
In doing so, each of the pro-lifers risk arrest for trespass and possible incarceration. They also prayerfully witness to moms, their escorts, the medical workers, and law enforcement who arrive on the scene. Several of the rescuers, including Bud, remained in the facility until arrest, prayerfully standing in solidarity with the babies scheduled to die in that location from abortion.
Red Rose Rescues serve multiple purposes, to save babies lives by reaching the moms sitting in clinic waiting rooms, to be present in these killing places in solidarity with the babies who will die and the arrests that occur could be challenged up to the Supreme Court and be the catalyst for the highest court in our nation to overturn Roe vs. Wade. When Roe vs. Wade, the landmark case that decriminalized abortion in our nation, is overturned, performing an abortion in New Mexico becomes a fourth degree felony!
It is for this reason that radical leftist democrat legislators in Santa Fe sponsored HB 51. This bill sought to remove New Mexico’s criminal abortion statute, most of which is not currently being enforced because of Roe. However, the existing criminal abortion statute, positions New Mexico to be one of the most pro-life states in the nation. Pro-lifers, especially those in New Mexico, must work to ensure that Roe vs. Wade is overturned so that our state moves from being the late term abortion capital in the nation to a safe haven for the pre-born.
Bud Shaver, Lauren Handy, and Fr Imbarrato being arrested at Cesar Santangelo’s late term abortion facility after CLOSING IT DOWN for 5 HOURS.
Fr. Imbarrato, Lauren Handy, and Bud Shaver were arrested at around 1:30 p.m. for their Rescue at Washington Surgi-Clinic. Grace Woo and Linda Mueller were not arrested.
Fr. Imbarrato and Bud Shaver were released later on Tuesday, Lauren Handy spent the night in custody and was released Wednesday. They were able to shut down the abortion center for 5 hours. They will be in court for a status hearing May 14.
Bud issued the following statement and is grateful for your continued prayers and support,
“I stand in solidarity with the Red Rose Rescue participants and today join in their peaceful efforts in Washington D.C., our nation’s capital. My prayer is that through this unified, peaceful and sacrificial witness, the hearts of those who go to kill their children will be changed and they will joyfully receive the responsibility of parenthood by choosing life for their babies.
I also appeal to President Donald Trump in hopes that he will continue to lead the charge in changing the heart of our nation so that our laws can be reformed to protect pre-born life in the womb. While we anticipate the overturning of Roe vs.Wade, we eagerly urge you to issue a presidential executive action through a Personhood Proclamation to give constitutional protection and personhood to the pre-born.”
This Red Rose Rescue is happening on Fr. Imbarrato’s birthday and he issued the following statement,
“I felt strongly called to this mission of saving babies on this special day on which I give thanks for my own birth, knowing that God desires that these babies, conceived through His grace, are granted the additional grace of being born, loved, and cherished in this world.”

Background:
Fr.’s Moscinski and Imbarrato, who led the March 19, 2019 Red Rose Rescues in Washington D.C. have been arrested several times prior, attempting to peacefully save preborn babies from death as have the majority of pro-lifers in today’s activism.
Red Rose Rescues began in September 2017. The March 19, 2019 Washington D.C. saving efforts mark more than a dozen in a little over 10 months. Red Rose Rescues are known to have saved numerous babies’ lives from abortion as well as untold numbers of babies who may have been saved because women are not able to keep their appointment when these rescues occur. Rescuers have been known to remain in abortion facilities up to 3 hours praying, singing, counseling women, and witnessing to medical and building staff, and law enforcement.
This is the 5th and 6th rescues in Washington DC, the 4th rescue at Capital Women’s Services and the 2nd at Surgi-Clinic. Three of the previous DC rescues brought no charges against the rescuers. Two other rescues that occurred in the greater DC area, in Alexandria Virginia, at the Landmark Towers Alexandria Women’s Health Clinic are thought to have had a role in that facility moving to another location. There have also been rescues in Michigan (2), New Jersey (2), and Albuquerque (1).

In addition to several official statements from the Bishops, the Archdiocese of Santa Fe organized a prayer vigil at the Rotunda of the capital building and welcomed members of all faiths including all advocates for LIFE to join Archbishop John Wester in prayer for God to intervene and move the hearts of the democrat legislators to OPPOSE PRO-DEATH LEGISLATION. We stand unified against any legislation that weakens the defense of life and threatens the dignity of the human being.”

IN THE END THE CATHOLIC DEMOCRATS CAME THROUGH FOR LIFE

Rep. Cathryn Brown (R-55) stated during debate on the House floor as HB 51 was being debated that in her 8 years of serving in the legislature she has never heard such a public outcry from her constituents in opposition to a bill.
In addition, on the first official day of the session on January 16, 2019 Bud and Tara Shaver of Abortion Free New Mexico hand delivered 112 postcards to all 70 Representatives in the House and all 42 state Senators urging New Mexico state legislators, both Democrat and Republican, to OPPOSE PRO-DEATH LEGISLATION.
During the 2019 session, Abortion Free New Mexico stayed on top of which committees the bills were assigned to and urged the pro-life community to contact the committee members and their legislators personally in person and via phone and email. They were also encouraged to testify at the committee hearings.

Opponents of the bill are celebrating the victory. “We’re just thankful that the voices of the people of New Mexico were heard,” Tara Shaver, who works with the nonprofit Abortion Free New Mexico.
Santa Fe, NM- The Pro-Death Assisted suicide bill, HB 90 ELIZABETH WHITEFIELD END OF LIFE OPTIONS died on the House floor when the bill sponsor, Rep. Deborah Armstrong, D-Albuquerque withdrew her bill when she realized that she did not have enough votes to pass it.
According to the Santa Fe New Mexican,
“Though the bill [HB 90], known as the Elizabeth Whitefield End of Life Options Act, made it through two House committees this year, it was quietly tabled in the House of Representatives in late February. On Tuesday, Armstrong wrote in an email that the bill was tabled ‘at my request.’
‘At the time we are just a few votes shy to pass the bill,’ she said.”

“It’s good to know that the New Mexico House did not have enough votes to even consider HB 90 and it’s a testimony that New Mexican Democrat legislators aren’t fully embracing a culture of Death with regard to assisted suicide.
However, on the other side of the ‘PRO-DEATH’ coin, it’s shameful to the great state of New Mexico, that House Democrats weren’t willing to protect innocent life in the womb and have fully embraced ‘Abortion on Demand and Without Apology,’ by passing HB 51. While some are trying to capitalize on the growing national outrage concerning late-term abortion and infanticide, HB 51 doesn’t even have anything to do with either of those things, in fact New Mexico is already known as the late-term abortion capital of the WORLD. With HB 51 DECRIMINALIZE ABORTION, the pro-aborts are anticipating the Supreme Court of The United States overturning Roe vs. Wade (due to President Donald Trump’s excellent appointments to the bench and potential future appointments). When that happens the current 1969 criminal abortion law would be in immediate effect!
Abortion Free New Mexico has also raised concerns that, HB 51 places women’s lives at further risk by opening the door for non-physicians including nurses and midwives to preform dangerous and risky abortions. Instead of reducing abortions like the pro-aborts claim to want, HB 51 will surely mean that the number of abortions performed in New Mexico will rise.”

HB 51, the abortion decriminalization bill has been advanced through its first Senate committee hearing with a party line vote of 4-2. It will now be heard in a second committee before it goes to the Senate floor for a vote. HB 90, the assisted suicide house bill, has yet to be voted upon by the House floor but could be voted on any day now. Both pro-life bills, HB 600 and HB 608 were killed in committee.

TWO PRO-LIFE BILLS POSTPONED UNTIL TUESDAY MARCH 5, 2019
Representative Rebecca Dow (R) District 38, pro-life sponsor of HB 608 issued the following statement about the postponement:
“Conscious Protections for those who do not want to preform abortions rolled until Tuesday-
People ask how the party in the majority can impact the legislative process. Today was a perfect example. 1. A health care bill that should be referred to Health and Human Services is instead sent to CORPS (the kill committee) 2. At the last minute the order of bills to be heard is changed and the democrat bill (BTW- a terrible malpractice bill) is moved to the top of the list. 3. Because we are “busy” public comment is limited to 2 minutes each. Time runs out of the first bill and the abortion bill is rolled until Tuesday. This delays the hearing by 5 days decreasing the likelihood of it passing.”

This month, Abortion Free New Mexico, with the help of local sidewalk counselors, documented two botched abortions in January of this year at Southwestern Women’s Options late term abortion facility that required medical transport to University of New Mexico Hospital. These emergencies occurred on January 10 and January 31. Ironically these botched abortions occurred while New Mexico Democrat legislators in Santa Fe are set to STRIP AWAY THE LAST PROTECTIONS for women!
Tara Shaver, spokeswoman for Abortion Free New Mexico issued the following statement,
“New Mexico is already one of the least restrictive states when it comes to abortion. We are also home to the largest late term abortion facility outside of communist China. Due to New Mexico’s lack of common sense regulations women who come to New Mexico for late-term abortions from all across the world remain in constant danger. The abortion cartel in New Mexico is unregulated and out of control, and yet the Democratic party is seeking to make sure we have absolutely zero protections for women by stripping away the only common sense provisions in New Mexico’s criminal abortion statute. These minimal but necessary provisions include a woman’s right to consent to an abortion and the requirement that only licensed physicians may perform abortions. Can we really expect the numbers of abortion injuries to decrease in light of these proposed changes in the law?”
Since 2008, members of Abortion Free New Mexico with the help of Operation Rescue and local pro-life street activists have documented 20 abortion related injuries at Southwestern Women’s Options which include at least one confirmed woman’s death!
NMAFL, a local pro-life group, recently released their log of 17 medical emergencies, that have been sustained by women during botched abortions at Southwestern Women’s Options, which have resulted in emergency transports by ambulance since 2014.
This log includes confirmation of 3 abortion related injures that members of Abortion Free New Mexico previously reported on but were never able to obtain CAD reports or 911 calls for. These include:

“Liberal logic dictates that if you are a legislator and your faith contradicts their radical leftist agenda then you should leave your faith and morals at the door.
