Albuquerque, New Mexico- Abortion Free New Mexico exposed the fact that The University of New Mexico – UNM a publicly funded institution, is willing to collude with late term abortionists to deliver dead babies at UNM hospital once a deadly injection is administered to stop the baby’s heart!
The price tag of a late term abortion at Southwestern Women’s Options (SWO) is a staggering $17,000, but in a SHOCKING revelation, SWO employee Susana Estorga, states that for $5,000 they would be willing to administer just the fetal injection and then send the woman away to deliver the baby 2-3 days later elsewhere.
If the woman’s own OBGYN objects to finishing the barbaric late term abortion by overseeing the labor and delivery of the dead baby within their own practice, Southwestern Women’s Options has an arrangement with the University of New Mexico to finish the late term procedure at UNM Hospital.
In a phone call placed by undercover investigator, Tara Shaver, with Abortion Free New Mexico it was confirmed that, Lilly Bayat a UNM Fellow at the University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center would in fact deliver the dead baby at UNM hospital after Southwestern Women’s Options administered the lethal injection.

Santa Fe, New Mexico- On Saturday, February 8, 2020, Abortion Free New Mexico attended the “We The People Unity Rally,” where New Mexicans from all across the state gathered to stand together and send a unified message to legislators to stand up for conservative values this session. In particular, a troubling red flag gun bill has been introduced and was passed on the senate floor last week.

At the rally, Steve Pearce, Chairman of the Republican Party of New Mexico announced that Governor Lujan Grisham (D) has put the notorious abortion bill (formerly HB51) on the call. Abortion Free New Mexico had previously reported that the abortion bill, which sought to remove New Mexico’s criminal abortion statute, would not be introduced due to lack of votes. Last session, the Archbishop of Santa Fe was a strong voice in opposition to this radical legislation, which garnered bipartisan opposition and ultimately died on the senate floor. So far, no legislation has been filed but we are asking that the pro-life community reach out to thank the courageous democrats, most of whom are Catholic, that voted against this pro-death legislation last session. Without their votes our legislature would have voted to decriminalize abortion. In a state that allows abortions up to the day of birth because we have no laws on the book to limit them, this would certainly be a step in the wrong direction. Santa Fe, NM- As New Mexico’s short 30 day legislative session kicks off in Santa Fe this week, it appears that the radical pro-abortion agenda that was defeated last year has been tabled this legislative session due to the lack of votes!

“A new version of the abortion bill pushed last year by Lujan Grisham is not included on the governor’s agenda for this year’s session.
The bill died on the Senate floor last year when eight Senate Democrats joined the chamber’s Republican members in voting against it and Senate Majority Leader Peter Wirth, D-Santa Fe, recently said during a pre-session event that “we simply do not have the votes” to pass the legislation during this year’s 30-day session, according to a Santa Fe New Mexican report.
The legislative session begins Tuesday and goes until Feb. 20.”

Imitation is the greatest form of flattery! Apparently, Progress Now NM realizes how effective our tactics have been over the years and are distastefully implementing a few tactics out of our playbook with billboards and a “Truth Truck” this session!
“The two billboards, from ProgressNow New Mexico*, will be on I-25 near the Budagher Drive exit, between Albuquerque and Santa Fe. The signs face both north and south so drivers traveling in either direction will be able to see the message.
The two highway billboards both say, ‘Rape is about power and control. So are abortion bans.’
The second billboard will be on the side of a truck driving around the state Capitol building and downtown Santa Fe Tuesday.”
For the duration of the last legislative session Abortion Free New Mexico sponsored the billboard (pictured below) on I-25 between Albuquerque and Santa Fe. We also mailed thousands of postcards to churches throughout the state and hand delivered postcards to every legislator urging them to oppose HB51 and HB90.

Catholic Democrats Join GOP to Defeat ‘Pro-Death’ Agenda in New Mexico

Pro-life advocates and Republicans in New Mexico are thanking the Catholic Democrats and other “patriots” who joined them [in] ending what was referred to as the “Pro-Death” agenda in the state legislature. Bud Shaver, who leads AbortionFreeNM.com, told Breitbart News the defeat of House Bill 51 was “pretty miraculous.”
“With the Democrat party in total control of both chambers of the legislature, and the power to sign any law into effect with newly elected governor, Michelle Lujan Grisham, a radically pro-abortion Democrat, we knew that if there was to be any hope of opposing their pro-death agenda, it was vital to activate the voice of the people of New Mexico and reach the hearts of the Catholic Democrats and urge them to vote their faith,” Shaver said.
He added that one of the “most encouraging developments” for members of his group during this legislative session was the connection they made with the patriot community of New Mexico.
“We were proud to stand together and protest in the capital against the push by fringe leftist democrats to destroy the values that most New Mexicans hold so dear,” he said. “Patriots from all across New Mexico joined together as one voice for prayer for New Mexico and to support President Donald J. Trump, stand up for life, the Constitution, the Second Amendment, Free Speech, the wall and against illegal immigration, rigged elections, higher taxes and corruption running rampant in New Mexico!” The “Pro-Death” agenda consisted of HB 51, which would have decriminalized abortion, and HB 90 and an identical state Senate bill, SB 153, which would have legalized assisted suicide.
HB 51 would have compelled doctors and nurses in New Mexico to perform abortions and – similar to New York’s new abortion law and the controversial Virginia legislation – would have removed all restrictions to abortion.
While New Mexico already allows abortion up until birth, HB 51 would have removed a criminal ban on abortion that has remained on the books since before the Supreme Court’s invention of a right to abortion in Roe v. Wade in 1973.
“The criminal abortion law that was enacted by the legislature in 1969 doesn’t need to be stripped from New Mexico law, but strictly enforced,” Shaver said.
“We needed six Democrats to oppose HB 51, which was the attempt by the radical elements within the Democrat party of New Mexico to remove the partially unenforceable criminal abortion law enacted by the legislature in 1969,” he explained. “In the end, eight Democrats voted to oppose HB 51.”
“We applaud the eight Democrats who voted their faith values in defense of life and broke rank with their radical extremist party that currently controls New Mexico,” he added.
Shaver said pro-life advocates are especially grateful for the efforts of the Catholic bishops of New Mexico who worked in defense of life. In addition to several official statements from the bishops. Abortion Free New Mexico noted the prayer vigil organized by the Archdiocese of Santa Fe in the rotunda of the capitol building. Archbishop John Wester welcomed people of all faiths to join in prayer to “move the hearts of the Democrat legislators to oppose pro-death legislation,” the pro-life group said.

“Your feedback will help create the leadership profile used to develop the candidate pool for the next EVP/Chancellor of UNM Health Sciences.”
Apart from a representative of a sitting U.S. Congresswoman, the Pro-Life Community (which included several UNM alumni) were the only ones that showed up to speak to the committee!
The Pro-Life Voice Was Heard, Exclusively!
It was a great intimate setting where members of the pro-life community were able to EXCLUSIVELY voice their concerns about the radical abortion agenda that the University of New Mexico (UNM) has taken under Dr. Paul Roth’s tenure as Executive Vice President/Chancellor of the Health Sciences Center.
Tara Shaver, of Abortion Free New Mexico, was able to voice her concerns about UNM’s free standing abortion facility that performs abortions up to 24 weeks of pregnancy, the U.S. Congressional Criminal Referral related to the use of aborted baby remains in research and was able to convey the fact that as we stood outside and spoke with medical students before the meeting, the majority of them were in agreement with our position and want UNM to change its direction to be more life affirming! El Paso, TX- In a new investigation, Abortion Free New Mexico has uncovered that a nurse at Hilltop Women’s abortion facility is performing illegal medical abortions in clear violation of Texas law. Hilltop also operates an abortion facility in Santa Teresa, NM which has come under recent scrutiny when Abortion Free New Mexico filed an FDA complaint regarding non-compliance with federal protocols for the abortion pill drug, Mifeprex.
The Texas Health and Safety Code Section 171.003 clearly states that “An abortion may be performed only by a physician licensed to practice medicine in this state.”
Section 171.063(1) clearly states that, “the person who gives, sells, dispenses, administers, provides, or prescribes the abortion-inducing drug is a physician.”
According to Texas law only a licensed physician can perform abortions and includes medical abortions. In a recent undercover call placed to Hilltop Women’s Reproductive Clinic located in El Paso, Abortion Free New Mexico reveals that clinic manager, Gloria Martinez is performing medical abortions at a cost of $550.

Hilltop El Paso, TX: Thank you for calling Hilltop Women’s Reproductive. How can I help you?
Caller: Yeah. Is this your El Paso location?
Hilltop El Paso, TX: Yes ma’am.
Caller: Okay. I wanted to schedule an appointment for the abortion pill with your, female practitioner. Is her name Gloria Martinez?
Hilltop El Paso, TX: Yes.
Caller: Can I make an appointment with her?
Hilltop El Paso, TX: Sure.
Hilltop El Paso, TX: Do you know how far in the pregnancy?
Caller: Um, I think just about like seven weeks.
Hilltop El Paso, TX: Okay, so you qualify for the pill.
Caller: Okay. And then how much money do I need to bring?
Hilltop El Paso, TX: The cost for the pill is $550.
Caller: Okay. But definitely then on Monday I’d be able to see Ms. Martinez. She could give me the pills and that’s fine. Right.
Hilltop El Paso, TX: Yes.
Caller: I don’t have to worry about seeing what is it, doctor Theard?
Hilltop El Paso, TX: Yes.
According to the Texas Nursing Board database, Gloria Martinez is a Registered Nurse, not a licensed physician. It is shocking that someone who has taken the time to receive a nursing degree and understands the medical standards involved in practicing medicine would intentionally break the law by performing illegal medical abortions.
Tara Shaver of Abortion Free New Mexico issued the following statement,
“Gloria Martinez is not a licensed physician and should, therefore, not be administering the abortion pill to women in the state of Texas. Gloria Martinez is placing Texas women’s lives at risk by violating the state’s Health and Safety Code that was put in place to ensure patient safety. It appears as though the Hilltop Women’s abortion facilities are having trouble complying with multiple abortion pill regulations.
On September 10, 2019 Abortion Free New Mexico filed an FDA complaint against Hilltop’s New Mexico location, where Gloria Martinez is the clinic manager, for performing medical abortions in violation of FDA protocols. The FDA requires that the facilities dispensing the dangerous abortion drug Mifeprex, be able to diagnose ectopic pregnancies. As of December 31, 2018, there have been 24-reported deaths connected with Mifeprex use. Our undercover investigation revealed that Hilltop Women’s Clinic is not equipped to diagnose ectopic pregnancies according to their own admission.
The total disregard by Gloria Martinez, as a nurse and clinic manager, to comply with both state and federal laws is quite concerning as her negligence poses serious life threatening consequences to the unsuspecting women who believe they are being seen by a licensed physician who is following proper protocols.”
In addition to the Texas Nursing Board, Abortion Free New Mexico has submitted this complaint to the Attorney General of Texas as well.
Hopefully, these complaints filed in Texas will garner the critical attention needed to protect the lives of women. Unfortunately, most of our complaints filed in New Mexico over the past decade have fallen on deaf ears.

Survey Results Show Disturbing Trend: More Abortion Clinics Moving into the Late-Term Abortion Business

Washington, D.C. – Operation Rescue released the second part of a two-part report, “The Status of American Abortion Facilities in 2019.” Today’s report reveals the disturbing trend that more surgical abortion facilities are now conducting abortions at later gestational stages overall.
Today, there are 710 abortion facilitiesin the U.S., comprised of 464 surgical and 245 medical abortion clinics. Of the 464 surgical abortion facilities, 177 limit abortions to 14-19 weeks gestation while 143 clinics will conduct abortion at 20 weeks gestation or later.
Despite an overall decrease in surgical abortion facilities, these numbers represent an increase in the number of facilities willing to abort babies in the second and third trimesters of pregnancies.
“Much of the data gathered during our survey this year either debunks pro-abortion rhetoric or red-flags dangerous trends,” said Troy Newman, President of Operation Rescue. “We see women being exploited by rising prices and a rush to get abortions done. We also see abortion becoming riskier with the new push into dangerous late-term abortions. This information exposes areas where more can be done to save lives.”
Other noteworthy facts are revealed in Operation Rescue’s survey results.
The national average cost of a first-trimester abortion rose to a record high of $603 in 2019, the greatest increase in three years.
The national average wait time for abortion appointments remains under a week at 6.8 days, which is more than two weeks less than it takes to arrange a first appointment with a family physician.
Planned Parenthood had decreased the number of abortion facilities participating in abortions at 20 weeks or more, opting instead to focus on dominating the first trimester chemical abortion market.
Each year, Operation Rescue conducts a nationwide survey that involves contact with each abortion business in the U.S. The information gathered about the abortion clinics and their practices represents the most accurate data available.

The Status of American Abortion Facilities in 2019:Operation Rescue’s annual survey shows that overall, abortion facility numbers tick up.

Washington, DC — A total of 36 abortion facilities closed nationwide in 2019, according to a survey of every abortion facility in the U.S. conducted by Operation Rescue.
In 2019, new abortion facility openings slightly outpaced closures. Today, there are a total of 710 U.S. abortion facilities, up nine facilities from 2018’s record low of 701.
However, the number of surgical abortion clinics continues to decline with seven fewer today than last year at this time, hitting a record low of 464.
“The closer we get to ending abortion in America, the harder the Abortion Cartel will fight against our efforts to save innocent lives,” said Operation Rescue President Troy Newman.
“Our side cannot afford complacency, especially as we enter a critical presidential election year that will determine whether our national policies favor greedy abortionists or the protection of babies in the womb. The outcome of that election – as well as the fate of millions of innocent lives that hang in the balance – will be up to us.”
Other noteworthy facts were revealed by Operation Rescue’s survey.
Since 2013, 367 surgical abortion facilities have permanently closed.
2019’s closures represent a staggering 79 percent drop in the number of surgicalabortion facilities nationwide since 1991, when there were 2,176 surgical abortion facilities.
There was a net gain of nine U.S. abortion clinics in 2019.
Planned Parenthood doubled down as the chief supplier of abortion-inducing drugs by opening five new pill clinics, dropping surgical abortions from five others, and adding chemical abortion availability to 14 of its centers that previously did not conduct abortions.

We partnered with the Southwest Coalition for Life in the borderland to expose Abortionist Franz Theard who is leading a double life in Texas and New Mexico as an abortionist and OBGYN.
With the help of local sidewalk counselors and pro-life groups, we were able to confirm 34 abortion injuries at Southwestern Women’s Options since 2008.
We were at churches and events this year registering voters for the 2020 election. We also helped Michelle Garcia Holmes get on the ballot for US Congress 2020!
We went to our nation’s capital, Washington D.C., for prayer and repentance with Holy Nation and then joined Survivorsfor 10 days of activism in Washington D.C.
Bud joined Fr. Stephen Imbarrato: The Protest Priest for a Red Rose Rescue in the nation’s capital. The clinic was shut down for 5 hours, they spent 5 hours in jail & ultimately the charges were dismissed!

Being a full time pro-life missionary family serving in New Mexico since 2010 has been a blessing in so many ways. We have laid a firm foundation by identifying and exposing the key players in the New Mexico abortion cartel, held leaders accountable on both sides of the aisle and have put Albuquerque on the map as the late term abortion capital- a reputation that we’re working so hard to get rid of.

Round 2: Protest Abortionist Franz Theard Campaign
Our second trip to the borderland was eventful and fruitful. Our team, which included the Martin family and our friend Joe, lit up the darkness and were a strong voice for the babies killed in Santa Teresa, NM and El Paso, TX by abortionist Franz Theard.
Not only did we spend time outside his separate OBGYN office to inform his prenatal patients that he kills babies, we also had a presence outside of his surgical abortion center in El Paso. While local interns and sidewalk counselors ministered to the women as they entered the facility, we stood on the opposite side of the building to speak to the women as they were inside the facility.
We know that the women could hear us inside and our message was, that it’s never too late to change their minds, that even though they are inside the devils domain, they can be strong, get up and walk out of the clinic and that we were there to help them!
“Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute. Speak up and judge fairly; defend the rights of the poor and needy.” Proverbs 31:8-9

“Abortion Free New Mexico spokesperson Tara Shaver says the goal of the protest is to raise public awareness that Theard is not just a popular El Paso OB/GYN but is also an abortionist. ‘He’s doing abortions on minors in New Mexico who are evading Texas laws,’ Shaver advises. Texas is bordered on the north and east by states that, like Texas, place strict limits on abortions, but Shaver says the abortionist has found a way around it: an abortion clinic in New Mexico.”
When we received leaked information about a political fundraiser that was being held by Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountain Region, we organized a protest presence of about 30 people to stand outside. Planned Parenthood is not just killing babies under the guise of a non-profit offering “health care” they are also a political machine that uses the MILLIONS of tax dollars it receives annually to funnel back into political campaigns to ensure that their killing agenda goes unimpeded.

“Planned Parenthood and their minions are mobilized and unified in their child killing agenda and we must be prepared to out work, out give, and ultimately vote out the radical leftist democrats destroying our values, our country and the great state of New Mexico! Our family stood in solidarity with New Mexicans Against Child Abuse at a local protest. A 10 year old girl was killed and dismembered in 2016 and one of the suspects in her case was just released. We wanted to remind the community that dismembering children is a crime in and out of the womb.

Anyone with common sense is not going to want criminals back on the street once they’ve been arrested,” Shaver asserts. “But unfortunately when you’re dealing with a state like New Mexico, where there’s so much corruption, there is no rule of law.”
Our family visited several churches this month to register voters and we spent election election day 2019 out at the polls helping to Michelle Garcia Holmes on the 2020 ballot.
Michelle Garcia Holmes is a 20 year veteran of the Albuquerque Police Department (APD) 10 years of which was spent as a Detective with APD. In addition, Michelle served 8 years as the Chief of Staff for the New Mexico Attorney General’s office, for Attorney General, Gary King. Where she worked on the creation of the first Government Corruption Division, legislation against child predators and human traffickers, as well as overseeing agency grants, budget review, hiring, and training.
There was great enthusiasm exhibited by the Christian community to support candidates that will represent our pro-life, pro-family and pro-faith values and who will support our President in Washington D.C. In fact, since the democratic party has abandoned their values, several people updated their voter registration and changed their party affiliation!

Albuquerque, New Mexico- New Mexicans are rightfully outraged over the murder and dismembering of Victoria Martens as the New Mexico courts are set to release, Fabian Gonzales, who is implicated in these horrific crimes.
According to KRQE,
Judge Charles Brown ruled that Gonzales, the man charged with helping dismember 10-year-old Victoria Martens, should be released.
Gonzales has been charged with child abuse and tampering with evidence. The way he tampered with evidence was by dismembering 10 year old Victoria Martens body after her death.
Hundreds of outraged community members protested, and stood against child abuse in New Mexico this Sunday, and Abortion Free New Mexico joined them. Abortion Free New Mexico stands in solidarity with the event organizer, New Mexicans Against Child Abuse and against ALL forms of child abuse.

This month Abortion Free New Mexico launched the #NewMexicoTruth campaign in conjunction with the kick off of the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta 2019.
In 2018 over 800,000 people came to Albuquerque for this world renowned annual festival and this year over 1 million tourists were expected. While Albuquerque is home to the International Balloon Fiesta, it is also home to the nation’s largest late term abortion killing center, Southwestern Women’s Options and is considered the late term abortion capital of the world.
From Oct. 5th- 13th, Abortion Free New Mexico lead several high pro-file public awareness efforts to educate the masses.
“While people are coming from all across the world for our green and red chile and for the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta, it is unfortunate that due to the radical pro-abortion political climate, New Mexico is also drawing women from all across the world for late term abortion tourism. This is the hard New Mexico Truth that is disparaging our states’ reputation and it can’t be ignored any longer. Late Term Abortion will not be New Mexico’s dirty little secret anymore and we are determined to shine the light on this grave injustice until the killing stops,” stated Tara Shaver, Spokeswoman for Abortion Free New Mexico.
Our friend Kimberly was recently featured in a report by KOB. In addition to being known as the Late Term Abortion Capital of the World, according to a recent investigation-
“Kimberly Wahpepah knows this crisis first-hand. She’s a Native American woman, and a survivor of sex trafficking on and off the reservation. ‘I was trying to get myself out of that position, but I just couldn’t,’ she said. Wahpepah, who is now an advocate for other victims, said she was forced into the sex trade after high school by an ex.”
In addition to being an advocate for sex trafficking victims, Kimberly is also a strong advocate for the unborn abortion victims and their mothers! We have been helping Kim (who’s pregnant), her husband and their daughter Naomi as they are currently homeless.

BABY SAVED FROM DEATH, WHY WE MUST PUT OUR FAITH TO ACTION
During the past five months, it has primarily been the faith community who has joined us each week for Faith to Action Fridays. It’s been amazing to witness how a sidewalk and alley surrounding an abortion clinic have been transformed from a dark hopeless walk of death, to a beacon of light and hope simply because the faith community has stepped out into the public square and are boldly bringing the light of Jesus to the most lost and desperate in our community.
Culminating this month with a baby being saved!
Simply being present has the potential to save lives as the Holy Spirit brings conviction to the mom’s seeking abortions. We’ve witnessed it time and time again. However, utilizing your voice and speaking to the mothers and fathers going into an abortion clinic also brings conviction, changes minds and saves lives. Our friend Joe (who is at the UNM abortion center daily) spoke for 17 minutes, one Friday, with a young man who had brought his girlfriend for an abortion and through Joe’s encouragement went back inside and got his girlfriend and they left for a nearby pregnancy center.
This month, Abortion Free New Mexico joined 40 Days for Life for prayer and protest at Planned Parenthood by the invitation of our friends at Holy Child Parish of Tijeras. Tijeras is in Bernalillo county (CD1) so we also got signatures for Michelle Garcia Holmes to get her on the Republican 2020 ballot for US Congress to take on the radical pro-abortion progressive incumbent Deb Haaland (D).
“A young woman, alone in her car, quickly pulled into the Planned Parenthood parking lot passing several prayerful pro-life protesters holding various pro-life signs. She slowly got out of her car and then stopped, turned around, got back in her car and left. Before pulling out of the parking lot she rolled down her window and thanked the pro-life protesters for being there and told them that because of our presence, she changed her mind about getting an abortion and said that she is going to keep her baby!
Praise God! Simply being present at Planned Parenthood, protesting their child killing business, has the ability to change minds and save lives.”
This month at Olive Tree Messianic Community, Abortion Free New Mexico joined the celebration, visited with friends, registered voters and had a petition to get Michelle Garcia Holmes on the 2020 ballot to represent New Mexican values in the US Congress (CD1). As Sukkot 2019 drew to an end in Albuquerque, a new day is awakening in New Mexico to establish justice for everyone in our state born and pre-born!

Albuquerque, NM- When Abortion Free New Mexico launched Faith to Action Friday five months ago, we committed just one hour a week to prayer and protest at the University of New Mexico’s free standing abortion killing center. The UNM Center for Reproductive Health is using our tax dollars (as a publicly funded institution) to promote their radical abortion agenda that is killing babies up to 24 weeks gestation!
Jesus to his disciples in his darkest hour, “Couldn’t you keep watch with me for one hour?” Matthew 26:40
While an hour of prayer seems so minimal of a commitment, it meant so much to Jesus in his darkest hour and it means everything to the babies scheduled for death at UNM.
Over the past five months we realized that we could better reach abortion minded women if we could have access to the alley behind the abortion killing center so we did our research and learned that it was in fact a public right of way. So we called the Albuquerque Police Department (APD) and worked with them to establish our position and our right to be back there unimpeded by UNM Police and security. By doing so, we built bridges with APD, gained an important ally and claimed more territory to peacefully engage in the battle for LIFE.

The need to put our faith into action and to combine our prayers with protest could not be more important. James (the brother of Jesus) emphatically stated,
“Faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.”
Fr. Stephen Imbarrato: The Protest Priest, director of Life Ministries US recently stated in an interview with One America News in Washington D.C.,
“We should not be afraid of the word protest because surely everything I do in defense of the unborn I do in protest of their mass murder! And so, I was encouraging the pro-life movement to embrace the word protest, to not be afraid of the word protest, surely Martin Luther King [Jr.] wasn’t afraid of the word protest. He called what he did peaceful prayerful protest.”
By combining our prayers with protest and putting our Faith to Action, we are also utilizing our first amendment rights as American citizens at a crucial time in our history as a free nation. If we don’t utilize our rights now for the most defenseless among us, then we are at risk of losing them in the near future when no one will be left to speak up for us!

One highlight from this month is that we released two undercover projects revealing that abortionist Franz Theard, doing abortions at Hilltop Reproductive Clinic in Santa Teresa, NM, and the four abortionists at Southwestern Women’s Options (SWO) located in Albuquerque, NM are potentially violating FDA protocols for prescribing Mifepristone aka the abortion pill (RU486). According to our investigation, neither Hilltop Reproductive Clinic nor Southwestern Women’s Options formally diagnose ectopic pregnancies. Their inability to diagnose ectopic pregnancies is in clear violation of FDA protocols, places women’s lives at risk and is a clear violation of the REMS requirements. As outlined in the FDA approved REMS document, prescribers of the abortion drug, Mifeprex must have the “ability to diagnose ectopic pregnancies.” We then filed complaints against abortionist Franz Theard and the four abortionists at SWO (Curtis Boyd, Shelley Sella, Carmen Landau and Shannon Carr) with the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and other federal and state agencies regarding this and other deviations from FDA protocols. Please pray that these complaints bring action against these abortionists.
This month we followed up our expose and FDA complaints by heading down to Southern New Mexico and into El Paso, Texas from September 16-17 we had two full days of protesting across two states! Fr. Stephen Imbarrato: The Protest Priest and Southwest Coalition for Life join forces with us at Franz Theard’s OBGYN office located only a half a mile down the street from his abortion killing center.
We also protested outside of two El Paso hospitals, The Los Palmas Medical Center and The Hospitals of Providence Memorial Campus, where abortionist Franz Theard has admitting privileges to deliver babies on the days he’s not killing them. Tara Shaver of Abortion Free New Mexico spoke to representatives of both hospitals to follow up with them since they refused to release a statement earlier this month. On both of their websites abortionist Franz Theard is listed as a “Physician affiliated” with their hospitals “in good standing”. While both hospitals confirmed that in fact Franz Theard does deliver babies at both hospitals. Theard is living a double life where he delivers babies at one location and kills babies at the other! We then teamed up for prayer and protest in Santa Teresa, NM at Hill Top Women’s Reproductive Clinic located just across the Texas border in New Mexico. Fr. Stephen Imbarrato who is On The Road For Life lead Mass and prayers of minor exorcism on location! Effective collaboration, unity, fellowship and community are just some of the things that we experienced over the two days doing pro-life outreach in the borderland.
In addition to being on the ground, we mailed postcards throughout both communities in El Paso, TX and Santa Teresa, NM surrounding his abortion killing centers, his OBGYN office and both hospitals.
The pro-life community of Southeastern New Mexico and El Paso were such a blessing as they welcomed us with open arms and fully recognized the need to work together in unison, complimenting each other in an effort to make their communities abortion free. We would also like to thank the Martin family from Rio Rancho who joined us for this trip to light up the darkness, our families combined totaled four adults and ten children, a truly powerful presence and witness for life.
After our visit, Southwest Coalition for Life Director, Mark Cavaliere, issued the following statement,
“We are extremely humbled and grateful to Abortion Free New Mexico for generously traveling from Albuquerque to invest two days of their time and expertise to help our local mission by drawing attention to El Paso abortionist Franz Theard’s FDA violations and double-life of delivering babies at his ObGyn office while killing them just a half mile down the road at his Hill Top abortion center. Their gracious collaboration and dedicated focus on accountability has helped to fill a void in El Paso which complements our specific ministry focus of crisis intervention through sidewalk advocacy and prayer, and Guiding Star El Paso’s focus on crisis management through ongoing client care. We sometimes forget that unity does not mean uniformity, but God gives us each unique callings and talents to suffer and rejoice together as one Body (1 Cor 12:18-27).”

Shining bright, defending our first amendment rights, building bridges with the Albuquerque Police Department and gaining territory… We actually called the Albuquerque police this month, to deal with UNM security outside of the UNM abortion center. We were able to resolve our position that we could access the public alley between properties and better position ourselves for sidewalk counseling to reach abortion minded women with love and resources!

Of the 60 million victims of abortion since Roe v. Wade was handed down in 1973, only a tiny fraction have received a proper burial, at gravesites scattered throughout the country. On September 14, 2019 all of them were mourned during memorial services at those gravesites and dozens of other memorial markers set up in their honor. In Albuquerque, NM our memorial service for the Aborted Children who are buried at Sandia Memory Garden put everything into perspective. Being at the place where aborted babies are buried at your feet is such a powerful reminder of why we work so hard to stop the killing in New Mexico.

Albuquerque, NM- Abortion Free New Mexico has filed a complaint against four Albuquerque abortionists who operate at the notorious late term abortion facility, Southwestern Women’s Options (SWO) with the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and other federal and state agencies regarding a violation of the Risk and Evaluation and Mitigation Strategies (REMS) and prescriber agreement for the drug Mifeprex, also known as Mifepristone and the RU486 abortion pill. The abortionists include Curtis Boyd, Shelley Sella, Carmen Landau and Shannon Carr.
Earlier this month Abortion Free New Mexico filed a joint complaint with colleague Leisha Armijo-Martin against Franz Theard for his inability to comply with FDA regulations for prescribing Mifeprex. Theard operates abortion facilities in New Mexico and Texas.
In a second undercover investigation conducted this month, Abortion Free New Mexico called Southwestern Women’s Options to determine whether or not they are compliant with the prescriber agreement required by the FDA to prescribe Mifeprex (Mifepristone).
According to the receptionist, SWO does not formally diagnose ectopic pregnancies either. Their inability to diagnose ectopic pregnancies in clear violation of FDA protocols places women’s lives at risk and is a clear violation of the REMS requirements. As outlined in the FDA approved REMS document, prescribers of the abortion drug, Mifeprex (Mifepristone) must have the “ability to diagnose ectopic pregnancies.”
Risk and Evaluation and Mitigation Strategies (REMS) are required by the FDA, for the use of certain medications that carry a significant risk or, in the FDA’s own language, have inherent “serious safety concerns,” in order to mitigate some of that risk. As of December 31, 2018, there have been 24-reported deaths connected with Mifeprex (Mifepristone) use. Two of these deaths were attributed to ectopic pregnancies resulting in death.
Abortion Free New Mexico consulted a local OB-GYN about what should be done when caring for a patient with an ectopic pregnancy and continuity of care is at the top of the list. However, in a previous investigation, Tara Shaver exposed that Southwestern Women’s Options doesn’t provide ongoing care for their patients, the only service they provide is abortions.
When asked whether or not annual well women’s exams like pap smears are offered, the answer was, “No.” When asked if they screen for sexually transmitted diseases, the answer once again was no.
“When a woman goes for an abortion at Southwestern Women’s Options, the abortionists are getting paid to do one thing, kill the baby, period. Curtis Boyd, Shelley Sella, Carmen Landau, and Shannon Carr named in our FDA complaint are not interested in providing ongoing legitimate OB-GYN healthcare because once the baby is dead then their job is done, but in the process many things related to the woman’s health can be missed or overlooked. An ectopic pregnancy is one of those life threatening complications that no-one suspects and that requires rigorous continuity of care including, ongoing blood serum monitoring and medical intervention if needed. Women going into Southwestern Women’s Options simply are not going to receive this type of quality health care,” stated Tara Shaver, spokeswoman for Abortion Free New Mexico.
Additional FDA Violation
Through the course of this investigation SWO has also been found to be in violation of an additional FDA protocol by prescribing Mifepristone up to 11 weeks, which is 77 days gestation according to their website.
Mifeprex was only approved by the FDA to be administered up to 70 days gestation. This additional violation of FDA protocol by the abortionists at Southwestern Women’s Options has also been included in the formal complaint filed by Tara Shaver of Abortion Free New Mexico.

237 Abortion Pill Mills Scattered Across America
According to AbortionDocs.org there are 237 abortion pill clinics across the United States that are exclusively prescribing Mifeprex.
Could it be that many if not all of these facilities are in violation of FDA protocols?
Abortion Free New Mexico has sent the information contained in our complaints to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and we call upon the Trump administration to do a thorough investigation to see if these abortion pill mills nationwide are in violation of FDA protocols for prescribing the dangerous abortion drug Mifepristone.

The pro-life community of Southeastern New Mexico and El Paso were such a blessing as they welcomed us with open arms and fully recognized the need to work together in unison, complimenting each other in an effort to make their communities abortion free. Abortion Free New Mexico would also like to thank the Martin family from Rio Rancho who joined us for this trip to light up the darkness, our families combined totaled four adults and ten children, a truly powerful presence and witness for life.
Revealing Drive Along Schuster Ave.
As you exit I-10 onto Schuster Ave. in El Paso, Texas you immediately pass the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) on the left, directly past UTEP are the two hospitals where abortionist Theard delivers babies when he’s not killing other women’s babies, then on the right is his abortion mill “Hill Top Women’s Reproductive Clinic”, 1000 feet away is El Paso High School. Each afternoon these high school students walk on the sidewalks right in front of Franz Theard’s abortion business as they make their way home.
1500 feet in the other direction, Franz Theard has his very separate OBGYN practice, where Abortion Free New Mexico spent time each morning to let his patients know that he is an abortionist. Many were surprised and appalled. What woman would want an abortionist to deliver their baby? One mile up the road, with a scenic overlook, is Theard’s home. Being on the ground in El Paso and exposing Franz Theard’s abortion business helped us to see who his targeted client base is and how his grisly abortion business has infiltrated this part of El Paso.
Just 11 miles down I-10 and across the Texas/ New Mexico border is Hill Top Women’s Reproductive Clinic in Santa Teresa, New Mexico. This clinic is being strategically utilized to evade Texas abortion laws regarding minors. Theard readily sends minors to this clinic from his El Paso location and continues to put these girls lives at risk while prescribing the deadly abortion drug Mifepristone (RU486).
Even though members of our group asked to meet and pray with him, Theard refused. This hardened heart, we hope, will change as we continue to reach out to him and educate the community about who he is and how his abortion businesses are bad for New Mexico and Texas.

Stephen Imbarrato: The Protest Priest and Southwest Coalition for Life protested outside of two El Paso hospitals, The Los Palmas Medical Center and The Hospitals of Providence Memorial Campus, where abortionist Franz Theard has admitting privileges to deliver babies on the days he’s not killing them.
Tara Shaver of Abortion Free New Mexico spoke to representatives of both hospitals to follow up with them since they refused to release a statement earlier this month. On both of their websites abortionist Franz Theard is listed as a “Physician affiliated” with their hospitals “in good standing”. While both hospitals confirmed that in fact Franz Theard does deliver babies at both hospitals.

Albuquerque, NM- As the fate of Roe v. Wade hangs in the balance, state legislatures across the country have passed some of the most extreme abortion bills ever seen. While states like New York and Illinois have swept away abortion restrictions, other states like Ohio and Alabama have passed abortion bans that could provoke the overturning of Roe. In New Mexico, this past legislative session, pro-life legislators from both parties put partisan politics aside and crossed the aisleto defeat the radical pro-abortion lobby’s attempt to overturn settled law in New Mexico. New Mexico representatives and senators defeated HB-51 and upheld a criminal abortion law that was passed by the state legislature in 1969. If the criminal abortion law was currently being enforced, New Mexico would not be known as the Late-Term Abortion Capital of the world.
On Saturday, September 14, local residents will gather to remind the community that abortion is not just a political issue. They will be marking the seventh annual National Day of Remembrance for Aborted Children with a graveside memorial service at 10:00AM at Sandia Memory Garden (9500 San Pedro Drive NE Albuquerque, NM 87113).
“Too often, abortion is just seen as a political issue or a matter of personal choice, but abortion has real victims: the 60 million American children who have lost their lives to abortion since 1973,” said Tara Shaver of Abortion Free New Mexico, one of the organizers of the Day of Remembrance in Albuquerque. “In fact, you may be surprised to learn that some of those victims have been buried right here in Albuquerque.”

They were never even given names by their parents so we the pro-life community give them their names and remember them.”

The Day of Remembrance is being organized by three national pro-life groups—Citizens for a Pro-Life Society, Priests for Life and the Pro-Life Action League—to humanize the unborn victims of abortion by raising awareness of their burial places. The bodies of tens of thousands of aborted children have been retrieved from trash bins, landfills and other locations and buried at more than 50 gravesites across the country.
At AbortionMemorials.com, visitors can learn the stories of how many of these children were killed, how they were found, and the details of their burial. The website also lists hundreds of memorial sites dedicated to the victims of abortion throughout the United States.
The first annual National Day of Remembrance for Aborted Children was held in September 2013 to mark the 25th anniversary of the burial of several hundred abortion victims in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Memorial services were held at 38 burial places of abortion victims nationwide, as well as scores of other memorial sites dedicated to these children. The Day of Remembrance is now held annually on the second Saturday in September.

Risk and Evaluation and Mitigation Strategies (REMS) are required by the FDA, for the use of certain medications that carry a significant risk or, in the FDA’s own language, have inherent “serious safety concerns,” in order to mitigate some of that risk. Mifepristone is the drug used on the first day of chemical abortion procedures which blocks progesterone, a necessary hormone during pregnancy. The blockage of progesterone essentially starves the newly formed baby of vital nutrients needed to survive. A second drug called misoprostol is given up to 48 hours later which causes cramping, bleeding and the ultimate loss of the pre-born child if there is no intervention. Some RU486 abortions can now be reversed if progesterone is supplemented throughout the remainder of the pregnancy.
In an undercover investigation, Abortion Free New Mexico called Hilltop Women’s Reproductive Clinic in Santa Teresa, New Mexico to determine whether or not they are compliant with the prescriber agreement required by the FDA to prescribe Mifeprex (Mifepristone). According to the receptionist, abortionist Franz Theard does not have the proper ultrasound to diagnose ectopic pregnancies, which is a clear violation of the REMS requirements. As outlined in the FDA approved REMS document, prescribers of the abortion drug, Mifeprex (Mifepristone) must have the “ability to diagnose ectopic pregnancies.”
In the call to Hilltop Women’s Reproductive Clinic, the caller asks, “Are you guys able to detect like an ectopic pregnancy if I came in for a procedure there?”
Hilltop Women’s Reproductive Clinic receptionist responds, “We do not have a vaginal ultrasound, the vaginal ultrasound would detect if it’s um ectopic.”
In the recorded phone call to Hilltop, the abortionist who performs the abortions, in clear violation of the FDA’s requirements, is identified as, “Doctor [Franz] Theard.”
Despite the fact that Franz Theard is unable to detect and diagnose ectopic pregnancies, he is still prescribing Mifeprex (Mifepristone) and performing medical abortions up to 9 weeks gestation.
In the FDA complaint filed by Shaver and Armijo-Martin they request, “that the Sponsors (drug manufacturers) ensure that they have on file, a current, signed prescriber agreement form for Franz Theard M.D. who operates at Hilltop Women’s Reproductive Clinic located at, 5290 McNutt Road Suite 106, Santa Teresa, NM 88008 and ensure compliance prior to dispensing the drug to the dispensers in question. We are also requesting an FDA-audit on both the suppliers and the prescribers to the ensure safety of the consumers.”
The Weak Link: An Abortion pill mill that is violating FDA requirements
In 2017 Abortion Free New Mexico conducted an undercover investigation revealing that Franz Theard was utilizing Hilltop Reproductive Health Clinic located in New Mexico to circumvent Texas parental notification laws.
Hilltop’s website boasts that, “New Mexico does not have any of the major types of abortion restrictions regarding mandated parental involvement or limitations on publicly funded abortions—often found in other states.” This makes it so easy for Theard to instruct minors in Texas who don’t want their parents to know they are pregnant to cross state lines to obtain abortions using drugs that have long list of side effects and life threatening complications.
Tara Shaver of Abortion Free New Mexico issued the following statement,
“Franz Theard is placing the lives of minors in jeopardy when he prescribes Mifepristone, the abortion pill, to his patients in Santa Teresa, New Mexico. He is doing this in violation of FDA requirements that are in place because this drug poses such a threat to the women who are receiving it. An ectopic pregnancy is usually diagnosed by a physician who then provides continuity of care to them, but abortion facilities simply aren’t in business to provide legitimate healthcare that protects both mom and baby, instead the lives of both are held in the balance. It is our hope that the FDA and other responsible agencies, as a result of our complaint, will investigate and act swiftly to make sure that Theard is no longer able to receive and administer Mifepristone, the deadly abortion drug, in southern New Mexico.”
Abortionist Franz Theard performs abortions in New Mexico and El Paso, Texas at Hilltop Women’s Reproductive Services. He also has an OBGYN practice just down the street from his El Paso abortion center where he does surgical abortions up to 15 weeks of pregnancy. Even though he went to school to become an OBGYN, just 4 years after Theard received his medical license he began performing abortions in the El Paso area. Theard has maintained hospital admitting privileges at two El Paso hospitals over the years, The Hospitals of Providence and Las Palmas Del Sol Healthcare.
Abortion Free New Mexico reached out to both hospitals for a comment and asked them if they were aware that they were giving admitting privileges to an abortionist but they both refused to give a statement.
Theard is caught in between two worlds and at some point they will collide. In fact, Theard’s dirty little secret isn’t completely under the radar as locals have informed Abortion Free New Mexico that Theard has been called to the hospital to assist with the delivery of a baby, but those in the community who know that he is an abortionist have refused to allow him to do so.
If these hospitals are only just now finding out about Theard’s abortion businesses, will they want to keep him in good standing? Will Theard be faced with a decision, to kill babies or bring them into this world?
What More Can Be Done?
Abortion Free New Mexico intends to visit Santa Teresa, New Mexico and El Paso, Texas this month to further inform both communities about who Franz Theard really is and to urge him to stop performing abortions. We also have a few other public awareness projects in the works!
This past month we were blessed to return to Flagstaff, Arizona for some pro-life fellowship and a church presentation in the city where our pro-life journey began 12 years ago. Back then we were involved in an apartment ministry outreach when the Lord opened our eyes and heart to the injustice of abortion raging all around us that we were completely oblivious to.
We made a commitment to our Lord not to remain oblivious nor silent any longer, twelve years later and we remain steadfastly engaged in ending America’s greatest injustice! Whether it’s traveling to Washington D.C. or joining you on the sidewalk for Faith to Action Friday, all of our efforts are working towards the goal of ENDING the killing of innocent pre-born children. We were blessed to join the South Valley Walk For Life which started in prayer at Praise and Worship Center and ended in prayer at Sonrise Church and was saturated with prayer all along the 1.5 mile route and back! These churches of South Valley Albuquerque are letting their light shine bright and redeeming our city by being a bold witness for Life in the name of Jesus.
After the South Valley Walk for Life, Praise and Worship Center opened their doors to feed, clothe, and serve the community by giving away free food, school supplies, tooth brush and hygiene care products, free hair cuts, health screenings and Abortion Free New Mexico registered voters for the upcoming 2020 election!
This is what it looks like in Albuquerque, New Mexico to be a city on a hill, a community of believers shining bright, being the light of the world! It’s amazing that we had more churches and ministry leaders represented out on the sidewalk this month in front of UNM’s freestanding abortion killing center than pro-life organizations!
Churches represented this month by their Pastors and ministry leaders for Faith to Action Friday: Praise and Worship Center, Connection Church, Calvary Chapel East, Olive Tree Messianic Community, Vertical Church, and the Catholic Church. Pro-Life organizations represented: Sidewalk Advocates for Life ABQ and Abortion Free New Mexico.
The University of New Mexico is at the heart of the abortion cartel in our state and uses our tax dollars to fund their radical abortion agenda and through NM medicaid that funds abortion 100%.
Now more than ever, we need to pray collectively, publicly, and strategically. Our presence has the ability to reform the University of New Mexico so that they get out of the abortion business! Abortion is their dirty little secret that must be exposed. We are the light of the world, so come on and join us and let your light shine bright for Christ and HIS babies!

Albuquerque, NM- Join us for an important pro-life prayer service taking place in Albuquerque on Saturday, September 14th. On that day, pro-life Americans will honor the memory of the more than 50 million unborn victims of abortion during the National Day of Remembrance for Aborted Children. Solemn prayer services will be held simultaneously at gravesites around the country where abortion victims have been buried, as well as at many other memorial sites dedicated in their honor.

Albuquerque, NM- This past week we were blessed to return to Flagstaff, Arizona for some pro-life fellowship and a church presentation where our pro-life journey began 12 years ago. Twelve years ago we were involved an apartment ministry in Flagstaff, that is when the Lord opened our eyes and heart to the injustice of abortion raging all around us that we were completely oblivious to.
We made a commitment to our Lord not to remain oblivious nor silent any longer, twelve years later and we remain steadfastly engaged in ending America’s greatest injustice! Whether it’s traveling to Washington D.C. or joining you on the sidewalk for Faith to Action Friday, all of our efforts are working towards the goal of ENDING abortion in our lifetime. This July was packed full of so many blessings! Thanks to you we traveled many miles to Washington D.C. for two very important outreaches and Bud’s trial for the Red Rose Rescue he did in March.
Bud’s mom stayed with our big kids while Tara was in D.C. and then remained until I returned on the 26th. We are both SO grateful that she spent almost the whole month in New Mexico and was such a huge help to Tara. While my mom was here Tara and I also celebrated our 15th wedding anniversary (and were actually able to have a date night.)
So many blessings and so much to be thankful for. We especially thank God for you! Your faithful and fervent prayers on behalf of our family, our ministry and our state are so powerful. Your financial support keeps us in this battle for life. Every life is so precious to the Lord and so together we continue to move forward seeking justice for the babies. God bless you abundantly!
RED ROSE RESCUE CHARGES DISMISSED IN WASHINGTON D.C.
Red Rose Rescuer’s Bud Shaver, Fr. Stephen Imbarrato and Lauren Handy appeared in the Washington D.C. Superior court on July 23, 2019 for their March 19, 2019 Red Rose Rescue that took place at the notorious late term abortion center, Washington Surgi-Clinic. In a major victory, all charges against them have been dismissed. Washington Surgi-Clinic performs abortions on babies beyond 27 weeks of pregnancy.
During a Red Rose Rescue devout Christians enter abortion facilities with red roses to distribute to pregnant mother’s that are present for their abortion appointments. Being present in the facility allows the rescuers to be prayerful and intentional as they sit with these women and urge them to leave and accept the help that is readily available to them. Red Rose Rescuers also serve to stand in solidarity with the babies that will be killed at the request of their own parents.
These rescues are just one way that Christians can heed the call of Christ to carry their own cross and follow him.
Bud Shaver issued the following statement,
“I am so thankful that the charges against us have been dismissed as myself, Fr. Stephen and Lauren Handy merely followed our conscience and acted on behalf of the innocent pre-born babies who die daily in our nation’s capital and across America. Instead of spending 7 days in jail, which was what I anticipated, we will continue to be with the Survivors of the Abortion Holocaust for activism events in Washington D.C. and touring the White House. Thank you to everyone who has prayed for and supported us in our efforts.”
Fr. Stephen Imbarrato issued the following statement,
“I’m glad the Red Rose Rescue charges were dismissed because of course we did nothing wrong. We are merely trying to save babies and bring more attention in Washington D.C. to the daily mass murder of pre-born children that is sanctioned, protected and funded by our government.
“The glaring disproportional response by law enforcement in Michigan and Washington, D.C. to the peaceful Red Rose Rescue efforts highlights the constitutional crisis that Roe vs. Wade has created in America.”

Life Ministries US provided a full scholarship for Survivors camp to four young people from Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Above and below are pictures from various activism locations in D.C. during camp. From the Smithsonian portrait gallery (home to the Margaret Sanger bust) to the Lincoln Memorial, we brought the truth to the masses.
A call to repentance and holiness is not always a welcome call for us as Americans but it is truly needed as we contemplate the blood of the innocents that continues to be shed daily in our nation. We were humbled to participate in this important event in our nation’s capital where it all began.
In unity we marched around the Supreme Court, the highest court in our land 7 times. Upon arrival of the coffin of the unknown baby, we knelt in prayer at the nations capital while the declaration of repentance was read. While our efforts were very much physical, we know that the Lord works through our efforts in the spiritual realm. Our prayer is that this is just the beginning and that more people will truly repent on behalf of our nation and pursue holiness.
1 Peter 1:15-16 makes it clear what our calling is:
“But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; for it is written: “Be holy, because I am holy.”
We’ve teamed up with the Albuquerque Tea Party to oppose pro-abortion politicians and in July at a local Democrat Debate watch party. Also, pictured are some of the faithful who join us for Faith to Action Fridays as we light up the darkness and stand for the babies being killed at UNM’s free standing abortion center.
