Albuquerque, NM – A New Mexico woman who unknowingly suffered injuries that led to a hysterectomy after a bungled abortion filed suit against an Albuquerque abortion business last month for medical malpractice.
But this is not just a run-of-the-mill abortion-related malpractice suit. This story takes surprising twists and turns into the dark world of aborted baby organ trafficking and a devastating personal family tragedy.
According to court records obtained by Operation Rescue, Nicole Atkins was 24-years old when she visited Southwestern Women’s Options (SWO), on December 27, 2010, for a consultation regarding an abortion in her second trimester of pregnancy.
Just over six years later, misfortune would once again strike the Atkins family when Nicole’s sister, Keisha, would also seek a 24-week second trimester abortion at Southwestern Women’s Options.
Keisha’s abortion proved fatal.Her autopsy report was obtained by the pro-life group Abortion Free New Mexico,who was tipped off to the death by another family member. Abortion Free New Mexico provided the report to Operation Rescue for review.
Tara Shaver of Abortion Free New Mexico released the following statement,
“When Abortion Free New Mexico obtained the autopsy for Keisha Atkins and alerted the public to her death, back in 2017, we hoped that women would be shocked by this tragedy and choose life for their babies and for themselves. To learn that abortion has devastated this family more than once is heartbreaking. We hope and pray that Southwestern Women’s Options and those implicated in both Keisha’s death and her sister Nicole’s horrific botched abortion are held accountable. May those who learn about the true nature of abortion and all of it’s consequences reject this barbaric practice and affirm life so that our community may become a safe haven for the pre-born and their moms.”

Washington, D.C.- Red Rose Rescuer’s Bud Shaver, Fr. Stephen Imbarrato and Lauren Handy appeared in the Washington D.C. Superior court on July 23, 2019 for their March 19, 2019 Red Rose Rescue that took place at the notorious late term abortion center, Washington Surgi-Clinic. In a major victory, all charges against them have been dismissed. Washington Surgi-Clinic performs abortions on babies beyond 27 weeks of pregnancy.
During a Red Rose Rescue devout Christians enter abortion facilities with red roses to distribute to pregnant mother’s that are present for their abortion appointments. Being present in the facility allows the rescuers to be prayerful and intentional as they sit with these women and urge them to leave and accept the help that is readily available to them. Red Rose Rescuers also serve to stand in solidarity with the babies that will be killed at the request of their own parents. These rescues are just one way that Christians can heed the call of Christ to carry their own cross and follow him.

Albuquerque, NM- Last week during our peaceful Faith to Action Friday presence I witnessed a 180 conversion of a man who was convicted by our presence and what he saw on a sign. I was approached by this man who felt that he needed to point out how hypocritical pro-life Christians are. What drew him out to talk to me though was the image of a 20 week old abortion victim (photo below). He immediately began to lecture me about how horrific the image was and insisted that I needed to remove it. Coming face to face with the reality that abortion kills children is hard for many to swallow, it cuts to the core of a person.
While I wholeheartedly agreed with him about how tragic the image was, I explained to him that instead of censoring the true nature of abortion, what our community needs is to see abortion for what it really is and to then peacefully work to end it. As I stood in front of the University of New Mexico’sCenter for Reproductive Health abortion center, I also pointed out to him that our tax dollars are funding what he saw on the sign as well as an entrenched radical abortion agenda at this public institution.
It’s important to point out that he assumed/knew that we were Christians! (Because who else would peacefully confront our culture of death in the public square?)
As the conversation continued he proceeded to ask the typical three questions that the pro-abortion community loves to bring up to deflect the real issue at hand:
1. How many children have we adopted? 2. Do you oppose war? 3. As a man you can’t have an abortion so why are you out here?
On the first question, I quickly pointed out that the pro-life community has the best track record of adopting children. I mentioned that the state of Alabama, which recently enacted a law banning virtually all abortions in the state, also leads the nation for adoption.
I explained to him that we as a pro-life movement want to ban abortion outright because we really do care about all children. As I pointed to the abortion victim, I asked him “how can you claim to care about children if you support the brutal violence of abortion that this image alone depicts”?
He then abruptly shifted to asking why I wasn’t opposed to war and working to stop all wars. I simply agreed with him about the horror of war atrocities such as the killing of innocent people. I asked him to think about what is so tragic about war? He said “bloody violence” and then went on to point to the sign and say “Like that.” In that moment a light bulb turned on for him and he immediately saw my point about the atrocity of abortion. I pointed out to him that abortion is the biggest war that has ever been waged in our country and has killed the most innocent people, over 60,000,000 since 1973. This is the most preeminent injustice that we need to end as a nation. He agreed!
And just like that the conversation shifted again and he asked why as a man I was discussing abortion since men can’t have abortions? I have to admit I was waiting for him to ask that because it’s ALWAYS brought up! I responded, recently a presidential candidate brought up the fact that not only does he support a woman’s right to have an abortion but that he also supports a “trans” man’sright to have an abortion.
This fallacious argument of attacking men is officially over! If men can NOW have an abortion according to Julian Castro, then men can NOW openly talk about abortion.
Suddenly he said, “AHHH you support Trump” and walked away!
Though I never mentioned president Donald Trump, I guess the thought of supporting our president was more than he could handle and he walked away.
Over the past 12 years I have had untold numbers of conversations just like this one, however, this one was unique in that it wasn’t over…
This Abortion Victim Image Brought Him to His Senses and Back to Apologize!
Several minutes later I was surprised when this man came rushing back over with tears in his eyes asking for our forgiveness and stated, “I came over to you to point out how hypocritical you were and how you need to get that horrific sign out of here but now I realize I was the hypocrite and THAT sign made all the difference! Thank you for representing Jesus and Christianity so boldly!”
He went on to confide in us that one of his girlfriends had gotten an abortion and that ever since, he felt that he needed to defend abortion. But now because of the sign and our conversation, he sees it as the true violence and injustice that it really is! We hugged and shook hands. I went on to tell him that the reason I always try to have an abortion victim image displayed during our prayer and outreach is because like with him, it changes minds instantly and saves lives when abortion minded women see what will really happens to their baby if they choose abortion.
Numerous women have told me personally that the abortion victim image was the only thing that convinced them not to have an abortion and stopped them even after driving hundreds of miles to come to Albuquerque for a late-term procedure…
It’s true that a picture speaks louder than words and pictures are a powerful educational tool against those who want to conceal and sterilize the term abortion. Instead of some vague misunderstanding about abortion as a controversial issue never to be mentioned, people must have these pictures in their mind as the impetus for demanding that this violent injustice to end.

Washington D.C.- On July 4, 2019 President Donald J. Trump issued one of his best speeches, on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial, beautifully detailing the American struggle for freedom, liberty, and justice for all over our 243 year history. The quote from George Washington that he shared during this speech, came at the time when the continental army was surrounded and facing insurmountable odds. They had recently declared their independence and the stakes could not have been greater. The British army was eager to crush the American resistance in its infancy.
On August 27, 1776 General George Washington stated,
“The fate of unborn millions will now depend, under God, on the courage and conduct of this army. Our cruel and unrelenting enemy leaves us only the choice of brave resistance, or the most abject submission.”
That American spirit of triumph over adversity in the pursuit of a brighter future for all has fueled past generations to overcome their deeply entrenched cultural grievances.
While we have come so far as a nation, there is still one class of Americans mentioned prophetically by George Washington that has even greater significance today in 2019.
“The fate of unborn millions now depend on [our] courage and conduct.”

The debate over abortion, interrupted by a Supreme Court decision almost half a century ago, is finally beginning anew. And it will not go away until some sort of a national consensus is achieved. Some are attempting to achieve this consensus by articulating reasoning based on science and enumerated rights in the Constitution. A quick review of videos on the Internet confirms that others have not moved beyond yelling, bullying and outright violence. Since we know the latter will not result in consensus, let’s look at the science and enumerated rights.
The science is clear. The fetus is a human being. The standard medical text “Human Embryology and Teratology” states, “Although human life is a continuous process, fertilization is a critical landmark because, under ordinary circumstances, a new, genetically distinct human organism is formed.” The textbook “The Developing Human” states, “Human life begins at fertilization.” I could add 40 more references.
Abortion-rights author David Boonin in his book “A Defense of Abortion” acknowledges, “A human fetus after all is simply a human being at a very early stage of development.”
So, if the consensus is to be based on science and morality, the decision is simple. Taking an innocent human life is immoral. There is no justification. A child is not responsible for the circumstances for her conception, so rape, incest, poverty and being unwanted are not grounds for taking a human life. Likewise, mental illness or physical deformities are not justification for killing a human being.
But Roe v. Wade was not based on morality. Justice (Harry) Blackmun claimed to base it on the 14th Amendment to the Constitution. This created a sticky situation since the 14th Amendment explicitly states, “nor shall any state deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law.” Justice Blackmun acknowledged this in Roe v. Wade when he wrote: “The (state of Texas) argue(s) that the fetus is a ‘person’ within the language and meaning of the Fourteenth Amendment. In support of this, they outline at length and in detail the well-known facts of fetal development. If this suggestion of personhood is established, (Jane Roe’s) case, of course, collapses, for the fetus’ right to life would then be guaranteed specifically by the Amendment.”
This – the question of personhood – is the core issue to be resolved in this debate over abortion. All other issues are used by one side or the other to distract from the central question. Based on the words of the author of the Roe v Wade decision, if the fetus is a person, then the fetus is protected in all circumstances by the 14th Amendment.
So, the question we need to resolve and reach a consensus on is actually very simple: We know a fetus is a human being, the question is: Are all human beings persons? And if not a person, what would this human being be?
History gives us some possible answers. In the infamous Dred Scott decision, the Supreme Court found a human being – a slave – to be property. During much of the early history of our country, owing to their non-person status, Native Americans were almost exterminated. But on issues of human rights, history says Americans eventually get it right. If we can agree that all humans are persons, we can resolve this divisive issue and finally bring protection to the last unprotected group – the unborn.

Sid Gutierrez is from Albuquerque, New Mexico and currently lives about 100 yards from where he grew up. He was a Distinguished Graduate of the USAF Academy with a BS in Aeronautical Engineering. He earned an MA in Management from Webster University. He is retired from the Air Force at the rank of Colonel where he flew the F-15, F-16, T-38 and many other aircraft while serving as a fighter pilot, test pilot, and instructor pilot. He joined NASA as an astronaut in 1984 and flew as the Pilot of Columbia on STS-40 and Commander of the Endeavour on STS-59. He then served in several leadership positions at a national laboratory before retiring again to become an entrepreneur and spend more time with his grandchildren and the Pro-Life ministry. He and his wife of 42 years have three children and six grandchildren. They are devoted to the Sanctity of Human Life and are particularly interested in helping single Moms who have chosen life for their children. Sid has served on the Board of a state university, several for profit companies and multiple charities dedicated to helping those in need.

…that was the final straw that sparked the “Tea Party” (America’s first and most famous) protest and our independence as a nation! The American colonies were being taxed without representation and our (Christian leader) forefathers finally said enough! Fast forward to 2019: $17,000 tax funded ABORTION… In New Mexico we are being forced to fund abortion with our tax dollars!
In fact, the University of New Mexico is the heart of the abortion cartel in our state and they are using our tax dollars to fund their radical abortion agenda…

This community is taking seriously the spiritual implications of the illegal abortions that were performed there and how a culture of death is impacting them so many years later.

We had a table this month in Valencia County, south of ABQ, to meet folks attending a fundraiser for the Federated Republican Women whose primary goal is to elect pro-life candidates. We met lots of new friends and had a raffle for a pro-life bundle that included the book “Abortion Free” written by our friends Troy Newman and Cheryl Sullenger of Operation Rescue.

Babies are killed each week at this location up to 24 weeks of pregnancy, many of whom could survive outside the womb if born this late in the pregnancy.

Tara simply took information at a pro-life booth and the rest is history!
Driving back to Flagstaff, AZ from San Diego, California our hearts were penetrated with the reality of the Abortion Holocaust that has taken 1/3rd of our generation!
We prayed a simple prayer,
“Lord we commit our lives to your service to work to end this grave injustice until you call us home with you, or until abortion is ended in America. Use us as you see fit we humbly pray.”
The pro-life booth that Tara took information from was Survivors of the Abortion Holocaustand in addition to pro-life facts, it included an invitation to their annual pro-life training camp. We attended their camp in 2007 and our lives have never been the same. We never looked back and have been fulfilling our commitment to God, to work to end abortion, ever since!
After attending the pro-life training camp in 2007 we moved to Riverside California in 2008 to work with Survivors as assistant Directors of the Campus Life Tour where we toured the country visiting over 180 college campuses and High Schools from 2008-2009. After that, we moved to Wichita Kansas to work as interns with Operation Rescue from 2009-2010 and have been full-time pro-life missionaries working in Albuquerque New Mexico from 2010 until the present (2019).

We married in 2004, moved to Arizona, and worked fulltime in various ministries. Then it happened. In 2007, we heard about Survivors camp and even though we were older than most who attend, Survivors leadership gave us a green light to come as a married couple.
Those 14 days at camp changed our life forever. We surrendered all of our other ministry efforts and joined the Survivors Campus Outreach Team! Tara and I toured the nation for a year, visiting over 180 high schools and colleges, an experience that chiseled us into seasoned, uncompromising pro-life activists. We have never been the same.”

The last Red Rose Rescue that took place on March 19, 2019 was Fr. Stephen Imbarrato’s birthday! He and Bud were willing to risk their freedom for the babies and are currently facing jail time for their Red Rose Rescue efforts in Washington D.C.

Bud returned to Washington DC this month for a hearing regarding his Red Rose Rescue arrest that took place on March 19, 2019. The judge set the trial for July 23, 2019 if convicted of trespassing he faces up to 8 days in jail. Bud issued the following statement to the press,

MEANWHILE IN ALABAMA…
This month, Alabama Governor Kay Ivey virtually banned ALL abortions in the state by signing pro-life legislation. Abortionists now face up to 99 years in jail for committing abortions! The bill, designed to challenge Roe v. Wade protections, makes it a felony for a doctor to perform or attempt an abortion during any stage of pregnancy.
We are blessed to see this happen so many years after our Survivors campus life tour team ignited the spark that activated the local pro-life community. It all began in 2009 when we unjustly spent time in the Birmingham jail after sharing the message of life outside of Parker High School, the first all black high school in America.
This arrest, however, was not in vain. Numerous students received invaluable information- one student went home to share our information to her sister who had an abortion appointment scheduled. After our arrest we had an injunction placed on the local authorities so that Bud could return with a team of “Pro-life Freedom Riders” to minister to women outside a local Birmingham abortion center. This center had not been a location for counseling for many years but our challenge of an unjust law opened up the sidewalk where the locals documented numerous abortion injuries, then filed complaints to proper authorities and eventually this center closed its doors for good.
“Abortion Free New Mexico applauds Alabama for their bold stand against the premeditated killing of innocent children in the womb. Every state, all across our great country, should follow Governor Kay Ivey’s lead and act to ensure that every child in their jurisdiction is valued and protected. This bold step forward now compounds the constitutional crisis brewing in our country because while abortionists face jail time in Alabama for intentionally killing pre-born babies, in Washington DC, peaceful pro-lifers also face jail time for intentionally trying to intervene to stop the killing of pre-born children at abortion facilities. These two conflicting realties can’t coexist in a just society.”

This month we had the pleasure of meeting Kim Chadwell of HOLY NATION as she stopped in Albuquerque with the coffin of the unknown baby. She is on a 48 state tour to ignite repentance and a return to holiness in our nation. It was so providential that she arrived on our first “Faith to Action Friday” that you will read about below.

Bud will be speaking during the weekend’s events while representing New Mexico. The weekend will wrap up with what will hopefully set a world record for the largest gathering of Christians kneeling in prayer… In our nations capital!

It has been said that… “Bad officials are elected by good citizens who don’t vote.”
In order to vote in the upcoming 2020 election, New Mexicans need to be registered to vote. According to NM Voter Group, there are 203,003 potential unregistered voters. We need to make sure that the Christian community is not sitting on the sidelines but is a strong and mobilized voting block who will support candidates that will represent our values.
Tara Shaver, of Abortion Free New Mexico, is currently a voter registration agent and is willing to come to your Church or local event and set up a Voter Registration table! Registering voters in the church setting is a great way to educate and mobilize those who may otherwise never have the opportunity to be registered.
Here’s what’s at stake:
All 42 seats in the New Mexico State Senate are up for election in 2020.
All 70 seats in the New Mexico House of Representatives are up for election in 2020.
Voters will elect three candidates to serve in the U.S. House of Representatives from each of the state’s three congressional districts.
Voters in New Mexico will also elect one member to the U.S. Senate in the election on November 3, 2020. The election will fill the Class II Senate seat held by Tom Udall (D).
The general United States presidential election will also take place in 2020.

After appearing in court for the Red Rose Rescue arrest that took place on March 19, 2019. Bud Shaver joined Fr. Stephen Imbarrato and Lauren Handy outside of Planned Parenthood’s flagship national headquarters located in Washington D.C. As they arrived there was a baby saved when Lauren Handy reached out to the mom and offered encouragement and resources.

Alabama Governor virtually bans ALL abortions in the state by signing pro-life legislation. Abortionists now face up to 99 years in jail for committing abortions!
The bill, designed to challenge Roe v. Wade protections, makes it a felony for a doctor to perform or attempt an abortion during any stage of pregnancy.
Alabama governor Kay Ivey issued the following statement,
Today, I signed into law the Alabama Human Life Protection Act. To the bill’s many supporters, this legislation stands as a powerful testament to Alabamians’ deeply held belief that every life is precious & that every life is a sacred gift from God.
Governor Ivey has created a constitutional crisis now that she has signed a law that bans abortion in her state and sends abortionists to jail for 99 years for killing pre-born children. She believes that this bold action is necessary to create the needed tension necessary to force the Supreme Court to act and finally examine the overwhelming scientific evidence and the abundant case law already on the books that affirms the humanity of pre-born life in the womb at conception/fertilization.
No matter one’s personal view on abortion, we can all recognize that, at least for the short term, this bill may similarly be unenforceable. As citizens of this great country, we must always respect the authority of the U.S. Supreme Court even when we disagree with their decisions. Many Americans, myself included, disagreed when Roe v. Wade was handed down in 1973. The sponsors of this bill believe that it is time, once again, for the U.S. Supreme Court to revisit this important matter, and they believe this act may bring about the best opportunity for this to occur.
In addition to the legal precedent that Alabama has set by banning abortions in their state, now abortionists will face up to 99 years in jail for performing abortions because Alabama law now recognizes that their practice intentionally kills children.
The measure, which is easily the most restrictive abortion law in the country, would make performing an abortion a criminal act — including in cases of rape or incest. Doctors caught attempting to perform an abortion could face up to 10 years in prison and those who actually complete the procedure could receive a sentence as long as 99 years. The law does not penalize the woman receiving the abortion.

Albuquerque, NM.- In order to vote in the upcoming 2020 election, New Mexicans need to be registered to vote. According to NM Voter Group, there are 203,003 potential voters that are currently unregistered. We need to make sure that the Christian community is not sitting on the sidelines but is a strong and mobilized voting block who will support candidates that will represent our values.
It has been said that…

Tara Shaver, of Abortion Free New Mexico, is currently a voter registration agent and is willing to come to your Church or local event and set up a Voter Registration table! Registering voters in the church setting is a great way to educate and mobilize those who may otherwise never have the opportunity to be registered.
Here’s what’s at stake:
All 42 seats in the New Mexico State Senate are up for election in 2020.
All 70 seats in the New Mexico House of Representatives are up for election in 2020.
Voters will elect three candidates to serve in the U.S. House of Representatives from each of the state’s three congressional districts.
Voters in New Mexico will also elect one member to the U.S. Senate in the election on November 3, 2020. The election will fill the Class II Senate seat held by Tom Udall (D).
The general United States presidential election will also take place in 2020.

It was sidewalk counseling, telling them about the dangers of this place, it’s very dangerous at this place, and where the alternatives they can go to. Now that the girls are in the lobby I’m just sitting and praying.”

“Pro-life advocates and Republicans in New Mexico are thanking the Catholic Democrats and other ‘patriots’ who joined them last week in ending what was referred to as the “Pro-Death” agenda in the state legislature.
Bud Shaver, who leads AbortionFreeNM.com, told Breitbart News the defeat of House Bill 51 was ‘pretty miraculous.’
He added that one of the ‘most encouraging developments’ for members of his group during this legislative session was the connection they made with the patriot community of New Mexico.
‘We were proud to stand together and protest in the capital against the push by fringe leftist democrats to destroy the values that most New Mexicans hold so dear,’ he said. ‘Patriots from all across New Mexico joined together as one voice for prayer for New Mexico and to support President Donald J. Trump, stand up for life, the Constitution, the Second Amendment, Free Speech, the wall and against illegal immigration, rigged elections, higher taxes and corruption running rampant in New Mexico!’
The ‘Pro-Death’ agenda consisted of HB 51, which would have decriminalized abortion, and HB 90 and an identical state Senate bill, SB 153, which would have legalized assisted suicide.
HB 51 would have compelled doctors and nurses in New Mexico to perform abortions and – similar to New York’s new abortion law and the controversial Virginia legislation – would have removed all restrictions to abortion.
While New Mexico already allows abortion up until birth, HB 51 would have removed a criminal ban on abortion that has remained on the books since before the Supreme Court’s invention of a right to abortion in Roe v. Wade in 1973. ‘The criminal abortion law that was enacted by the legislature in 1969 doesn’t need to be stripped from New Mexico law, but strictly enforced,’ Shaver said.
‘We needed six Democrats to oppose HB 51, which was the attempt by the radical elements within the Democrat party of New Mexico to remove the partially unenforceable criminal abortion law enacted by the legislature in 1969,’ he explained. ‘In the end, eight Democrats voted to oppose HB 51 (six of them were Catholic). Most assuredly, due to their leadership and public opposition to HB 90/ SB 153 – which was called the most dangerous assisted suicide bill in the nation ever – that bill died on the House floor when the bill’s sponsor, Deborah A. Armstrong, pulled the plug on it when she realized that she didn’t have the votes!’
‘We applaud the eight Democrats who voted their faith values in defense of life and broke rank with their radical extremist party that currently controls New Mexico,’ he added.
Shaver said pro-life advocates are especially grateful for the efforts of the Catholic bishops of New Mexico who worked in defense of life. In addition to several official statements from the bishops. Abortion Free New Mexico noted the prayer vigil organized by the Archdiocese of Santa Fe in the rotunda of the capitol building. Archbishop John Wester welcomed people of all faiths to join in prayer to ‘move the hearts of the Democrat legislators to oppose pro-death legislation,’ the pro-life group said.”

Washington, D.C.- On March 19, 2019 Bud Shaver of Abortion Free New Mexico joined 9 others in our nations capital in what is known as Red Rose Rescues. Two rescue teams, led by Catholic priests, entered two Washington D.C. abortion facilities Tuesday morning.
Pro-lifers quietly approached mothers scheduled for abortions and offered them red roses as a symbol of life…thus the name “Red Rose Rescue.” Attached to each rose is a card which states: “God is love and he loves you and your unborn baby. Don’t be afraid. Your life circumstances will change and this baby will give you boundless joy… There is help for you and your baby.” The reverse of the card contained phone numbers of local pregnancy help centers. In doing so, each of the pro-lifers risked arrest for trespass. They also prayerfully witnessed to moms, their escorts, the medical workers, and law enforcement who arrived on the scene. Several of the rescuers, including Bud, remained in the facility until arrest, prayerfully standing in solidarity with the babies scheduled to die in that location from abortion.
Rescuers had five hours to minister to couples and to pray fervently inside Washington Surgi-Clinic. Washington Surgi-Clinic is one of 19 abortion facilities in the DC metropolitan area. Also known for providing later abortions, Cesare F. Santangelo, has a history of medical malpractice. Court documents obtained by Operation Rescue showed a 2011 medical malpractice/wrongful death lawsuit filed by the family of a woman who died during an abortion.
Through great sacrifice Fr. Stephen Imbarrato and Lauren Handy were also arrested and spent 5 hours in jail. They were arraigned the next day and will return to D.C. for a court date in May.
Jesus told his disciples, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.” This looks different for everyone and for Bud this Red Rose Rescue was a denial of himself as he advocated for the littlest humans, babies in the womb.
Red Rose Rescues serve multiple purposes, to save babies lives by reaching the moms sitting in clinic waiting rooms, to be present in these killing places in solidarity with the babies who will die and the arrests that occur could be challenged up to the Supreme Court and be the catalyst for the highest court in our nation to overturn Roe vs. Wade.
When Roe vs. Wade, the landmark case that decriminalized abortion in our nation, is overturned, performing an abortion in New Mexico becomes a fourth degree felony! It is for this reason that radical leftist democrat legislators in Santa Fe sponsored HB 51. This bill sought to remove New Mexico’s criminal abortion statute, most of which is not currently being enforced because of Roe. However, the existing criminal abortion statute, positions New Mexico to be one of the most pro-life states in the nation. Pro-lifers, especially those in New Mexico, must work to ensure that Roe vs. Wade is overturned so that our state moves from being the late term abortion capital in the nation to a safe haven for the pre-born.

“In New Mexico it’s currently a fourth degree felony to commit an abortion. When Roe vs. Wade is overturned New Mexico will be one step ahead and the law passed by the New Mexico legislature in 1969 that predated 1973 will go into immediate effect.
That’s why it’s so important for President Donald J. Trump to take direct action and issue the Personhood Proclamation by way of an executive order. This will create a constitutional crisis that we feel is necessary for the Supreme Court to finally step in and reevaluate the indisputable science that establishes that life begins at conception and the abundant case law already on the books all across the country. We feel confidently that especially with the two Supreme Court appointments that President Trump has already put in place or if it drags on and Trump is able to appoint another one or two that Roe will be overturned. Pro-lifers quietly approach mothers scheduled for abortions and offer them red roses as a symbol of life…thus the name “Red Rose Rescue.” Attached to each rose is a card which states: “God is love and he loves you and your unborn baby. Don’t be afraid. Your life circumstances will change and this baby will give you boundless joy… There is help for you and your baby.” The reverse of the card contained phone numbers of local pregnancy help centers.
In doing so, each of the pro-lifers risk arrest for trespass and possible incarceration. They also prayerfully witness to moms, their escorts, the medical workers, and law enforcement who arrive on the scene. Several of the rescuers, including Bud, remained in the facility until arrest, prayerfully standing in solidarity with the babies scheduled to die in that location from abortion.
Red Rose Rescues serve multiple purposes, to save babies lives by reaching the moms sitting in clinic waiting rooms, to be present in these killing places in solidarity with the babies who will die and the arrests that occur could be challenged up to the Supreme Court and be the catalyst for the highest court in our nation to overturn Roe vs. Wade. When Roe vs. Wade, the landmark case that decriminalized abortion in our nation, is overturned, performing an abortion in New Mexico becomes a fourth degree felony!
It is for this reason that radical leftist democrat legislators in Santa Fe sponsored HB 51. This bill sought to remove New Mexico’s criminal abortion statute, most of which is not currently being enforced because of Roe. However, the existing criminal abortion statute, positions New Mexico to be one of the most pro-life states in the nation. Pro-lifers, especially those in New Mexico, must work to ensure that Roe vs. Wade is overturned so that our state moves from being the late term abortion capital in the nation to a safe haven for the pre-born.
Bud Shaver, Lauren Handy, and Fr Imbarrato being arrested at Cesar Santangelo’s late term abortion facility after CLOSING IT DOWN for 5 HOURS.
Fr. Imbarrato, Lauren Handy, and Bud Shaver were arrested at around 1:30 p.m. for their Rescue at Washington Surgi-Clinic. Grace Woo and Linda Mueller were not arrested.
Fr. Imbarrato and Bud Shaver were released later on Tuesday, Lauren Handy spent the night in custody and was released Wednesday. They were able to shut down the abortion center for 5 hours. They will be in court for a status hearing May 14.
Bud issued the following statement and is grateful for your continued prayers and support,
“I stand in solidarity with the Red Rose Rescue participants and today join in their peaceful efforts in Washington D.C., our nation’s capital. My prayer is that through this unified, peaceful and sacrificial witness, the hearts of those who go to kill their children will be changed and they will joyfully receive the responsibility of parenthood by choosing life for their babies.
I also appeal to President Donald Trump in hopes that he will continue to lead the charge in changing the heart of our nation so that our laws can be reformed to protect pre-born life in the womb. While we anticipate the overturning of Roe vs.Wade, we eagerly urge you to issue a presidential executive action through a Personhood Proclamation to give constitutional protection and personhood to the pre-born.”
This Red Rose Rescue is happening on Fr. Imbarrato’s birthday and he issued the following statement,
“I felt strongly called to this mission of saving babies on this special day on which I give thanks for my own birth, knowing that God desires that these babies, conceived through His grace, are granted the additional grace of being born, loved, and cherished in this world.”

Background:
Fr.’s Moscinski and Imbarrato, who led the March 19, 2019 Red Rose Rescues in Washington D.C. have been arrested several times prior, attempting to peacefully save preborn babies from death as have the majority of pro-lifers in today’s activism.
Red Rose Rescues began in September 2017. The March 19, 2019 Washington D.C. saving efforts mark more than a dozen in a little over 10 months. Red Rose Rescues are known to have saved numerous babies’ lives from abortion as well as untold numbers of babies who may have been saved because women are not able to keep their appointment when these rescues occur. Rescuers have been known to remain in abortion facilities up to 3 hours praying, singing, counseling women, and witnessing to medical and building staff, and law enforcement.
This is the 5th and 6th rescues in Washington DC, the 4th rescue at Capital Women’s Services and the 2nd at Surgi-Clinic. Three of the previous DC rescues brought no charges against the rescuers. Two other rescues that occurred in the greater DC area, in Alexandria Virginia, at the Landmark Towers Alexandria Women’s Health Clinic are thought to have had a role in that facility moving to another location. There have also been rescues in Michigan (2), New Jersey (2), and Albuquerque (1).

Albuquerque, NM- The legislative session in New Mexico is officially over! Chairman Steve Pearce of the Republican Party of New Mexico issued his thanks for all of the valiant efforts made by everyone.

Rep. Cathryn Brown (R-55) stated during debate on the House floor as HB 51 was being debated that in her 8 years of serving in the legislature she has never heard such a public outcry from her constituents in opposition to a bill.
In addition, on the first official day of the session on January 16, 2019 Bud and Tara Shaver of Abortion Free New Mexico hand delivered 112 postcards to all 70 Representatives in the House and all 42 state Senators urging New Mexico state legislators, both Democrat and Republican, to OPPOSE PRO-DEATH LEGISLATION.
During the 2019 session, Abortion Free New Mexico stayed on top of which committees the bills were assigned to and urged the pro-life community to contact the committee members and their legislators personally in person and via phone and email. They were also encouraged to testify at the committee hearings.

Santa Fe, NM- The Pro-Death Assisted suicide bill, HB 90 ELIZABETH WHITEFIELD END OF LIFE OPTIONS died on the House floor when the bill sponsor, Rep. Deborah Armstrong, D-Albuquerque withdrew her bill when she realized that she did not have enough votes to pass it.
According to the Santa Fe New Mexican,
“Though the bill [HB 90], known as the Elizabeth Whitefield End of Life Options Act, made it through two House committees this year, it was quietly tabled in the House of Representatives in late February. On Tuesday, Armstrong wrote in an email that the bill was tabled ‘at my request.’
‘At the time we are just a few votes shy to pass the bill,’ she said.”
