    LifeNews.com just released the following announcement, “BREAKING NEWS: Senate Will Introduce Pro-Life Bill Next Week Banning Late-Term Abortions After 20 Weeks”

    “The lead Senate sponsor of the pro-life bill that bans abortions from after 20-weeks of pregnancy up to the day of birth will introduce the legislation next week. Last month, the House of Representatives voted 242-184 for the Pain Capable Unborn Child Protection Act

    Senator Lindsey Graham of South Carolina, who is the lead sponsor of the pro-life measure in the Senate, has announced that he will introduce the measure next week. In a new letter to members of the Senate, released to LifeNews.com, the National Right to Life Committee is urging members of the Senate to sign on to the legislation as cosponsors.”

    City, State and Federal Efforts to Ban Late Term Abortion

    Dear Friends and Partners in the battle for LIFE,

    Since moving to Albuquerque, New Mexico in 2010, our efforts have shined the light on the barbaric reality of late-term abortion and the role New Mexico plays, having the largest late-term abortion “Killing Center” in the world outside of communist China! In fact, Albuquerque is now known nationally as the Late-Term Abortion Capital of America due to the fact that women travel from all across the country…and the WORLD to have late-term abortions that are illegal where they live. Recently, Bristol Palin (daughter of Vice Presidential candidate, Sarah Palin) wrote an article titled, “Woman Traveled from UK to US to Have an Abortion at 30 Weeks.” Here is a brief excerpt:

    “Why should our country be the abortion destination? A 20-year-old woman from the UK traveled all the way to New Mexico just so that she could get an abortion. Why did she have to do that? Because abortion at 30 weeks is illegal in the UK. Is this what our country has become? The place you can come to kill your child when your own country won’t let you? This has to change!”

    While other states (and countries) have severely restricted abortions by passing various laws, New Mexico is ranked #1 by the pro-aborts (according to an article in the ABQ Journal) as having the freest access to abortion since there are no laws limiting abortion. Abortions are fully funded by state tax dollars and it is legal to kill a baby up to the day of birth in New Mexico.

    Needless to say, we have our work cut out for us as Pro-Life Missionaries! But, that is why we moved here to New Mexico to work to make it, “Abortion Free.”

    One of our strategies has been to expose late-term abortion since nearly 90% of Americans oppose late-term abortions. In addition, we have tirelessly documented and exposed abortionists who are running grossly negligent abortion mills, which we know will eventually shut them down for good.

    We helped launch the first ever citywide referendum that attempted to ban abortions after 20 weeks of pregnancy in 2013. This legislative session, our groundbreaking research and public exposure campaign (Protest ABQ) was the catalyst of the first pro-life bill to EVER pass the New Mexico House…a Late-Term Abortion Ban!

    This month, in a monumental national effort to ban late-term abortions, Bud traveled all the way across the country to Washington D.C. and stood in solidarity with pro-life leaders in calling for a vote on H.R. 36, the Pain Capable Unborn Child Protection Act. Coinciding with the National Day of Prayer (May 6, 2015), pro-life leaders gathered at U.S. House Speaker, John Boehner’s office to pray and urge the passage of a National Ban on Late-Term Abortions. Bud hand delivered signatures collected from a petition by New Mexicans and voices from all across the nation calling for an end to abortions at 20 weeks of pregnancy to House Speaker Boehner’s office…and just days later the U.S. House did just that! When House Speaker John Boehner gave his speech in support of the 20-wk Late-Term Abortion Ban on the House Floor urging Congress to pass the bill he noted, “And I want to take a moment to recognize all of the Americans who spoke out for this bill. Your voices have been heard.”

    The U.S. House approved  H.R 36 The Pain Capable Unborn Child Protection Act on a 242-184 vote!

    This vote comes just days after National Pro-Life Groups Protested at House Speaker John Boehner’s office on Capital Hill demanding that Republican leaders #FreeTheBan and put it up for a vote. Bud Shaver, Executive Director of Protest ABQ stood in solidarity with Pro-Life leaders from all across the country and also delivered signatures collected from a petition by New Mexicans and voices from all across the nation calling for a Ban on Late-Term Abortion to House Speaker Bohener’s office despite his office remaining closed and locked.

    When House Speaker John Boehner gave his speech in support of the 20-wk Late-Term Abortion Ban on the House Floor urging Congress to pass the bill he noted, “And I want to take a moment to recognize all of the Americans who spoke out for this bill. Your voices have been heard.”

    Well the U.S. House heard our collective voices and we thank them for passing this bill, though not perfect, it will save thousands of lives and will end barbaric Late-Term abortion’s in New Mexico and all across the nation. We will continue to take peaceful and prayerful steps of faith until the mountain of Abortion in our country is cast into the abyss of history!

    WND reports,  “The bill now goes to the Senate, although there are no immediate plans there to address the measure. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., backs a Senate version of the legislation. Obama’s press secretary, Josh Earnest, blasted the vote as “disgraceful,” threatening a veto from Obama should it reach his desk.”

    But according to LifeNews.com, “Pro-life groups hope to use the measure as an election tool in 2016 in an attempt to wrest control of the White House and approve a pro-life president who will sign it into law.”

    Albuquerque, NM- Bud Shaver, Executive Director of Protest ABQ and Apostle Manny Lardizabal, New Mexico Heartland Apostolic Prayer Network (HAPN) State Leader, stood in solidarity with pro-life groups and leaders from all across the country in Washington D.C. urging the passage of the Pain Capable Unborn Child Protection Act.

    On January 22, the date of the Roe v. Wade Memorial, Republican House Leadership broke a promise and cancelled a vote on the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act. If passed it would ban abortions after 20 weeks of pregnancy nationwide.

    Pastor Manny Lardizabal issued the following statement: “I can’t help but meditate on what is at stake, Life and death, lives of millions of children. It’s that fact that motivates us to travel out of our comfort zones into Washington DC. We will join other pro-life leaders from around our nation to hold a protest at the office of House Speaker John Boehner on May 7, urging the passage of the Pain Capable Unborn Child Protection Act. This is a life and death situation.”

    The protest coincided with the National Day of Prayer, 2015. This provided a great opportunity to join together at our nations capital in prayer for our country and it’s leaders…then to get up off of our knees and put our faith into action by protesting the lack of action by House Speaker John Boehner and Republican leadership to introduce a Late-Term Abortion Ban that will save thousands of lives. Everyday that passes means that babies are dying!

    Unfortunately, House Speaker Boehner’s office did not provide an opportunity for the Pro-Life leaders to present their concerns which included a petition gathered by Protest ABQ, in fact, Boehner’s office was locked and no one came to the door after repeated attempts by EVERY Pro-Life leader gathered.

    One of the event organizers, Rev. Patrick Mahoney of the Christian Defense Coalition issued the following statement in response,  “It is with a sense of profound sadness that…Speaker Boehner…did not even have the decency or courtesy or decorum to even answer the door” for the activists “who helped make him Speaker.”

    LifeSiteNews.com journalist Dustin Siggins reported the following from on location:

    “The diverse coalition of pro-life leaders held a press conference in front of the building, then walked to Boehner’s office. There, approximately a dozen people prayed, made brief statements about the lack of action on this legislation, and knocked on the locked door. Mahoney, one of the organizers of today’s protest, noted that Boehner’s door is consistently locked. He also criticized the speaker’s staff for not answering the door, which Mahoney said they have done in the past, and which was done when LifeSiteNews.com knocked on the door nearly two hours before the protest started.”

    Rev. Patrick Mahoney explained to WND who also covered the event:

    “Mahoney said the protesters are following Jesus’ example as outlined in the parable of the widow and the unjust judge in the Bible. The poor widow kept coming to the judge to beg him to grant her justice, and he eventually relented because of the woman’s persistence.

    ‘That is what we plan to do with Speaker Boehner and House leadership, ‘Mahoney explained. ‘We will not stop ‘knocking’ until this legislation is voted on.’”

    Survivors of the Abortion Holocaust’s James Conrad, Director of Training and Apologetics summarized our protest in Washington D.C. to urge Republican leadership to pass the Pain Capable Unborn Child Protection Act, “This is a good bill to get behind, not because it is perfect, but because it shows the Democratic party’s platform for what it is: abortion on demand, any reason or no reason, to the day of birth!  It will also protect thousands of children right now from being callously and heartlessly killed! And yet, even if this bill is passed, the children will not have attained justice, because it will still be legal to kill them before 20 weeks or if their father was a rapist.  It is wrong to kill defenseless people, even if they cannot feel it and even if their father was a rapist. So we will continue to knock. We will not stop knocking until all children are protected!”

    Bud Shaver agrees and as Executive Director of Protest ABQ he and Protest ABQ is committed to stand side by side Survivors of the Abortion Holocaust, national pro-life organizations, leaders, and individuals until ALL of the babies receive justice!

    Bud Shaver, Executive Director of Protest ABQ and others attempted a second time to hand deliver signatures collected from a petition by New Mexicans and voices from all across the nation calling for a Ban on Late-Term Abortion, and stated to a journalist from Saynsumthn’s Blog that, “House speaker Boehner refused to open his constituents office to hear the desire of people representing states all across the nation who want to see an end of Late-Term Abortion in our country.”

    “Boehner and his staff were well aware of our desire to speak with them today,” Shaver told Saynsumthn.

    “It’s a huge disappointment that House Speaker Boehner closed his public office in Washington D.C. to the organizations, Pastors, and leaders from all across the country. In New Mexico it is the Radical pro-abortion Democrats that refused to allow a vote to end Late-Term Abortion. Now it’s the Republican majority in D.C. who are apparently doing the same thing,”

    House Speaker Boehner’s office remained locked without anyone willing to open the door…so Bud Shaver left the signatures there at his door.

    No Coincidence! Vote on Late-Term Abortion Ban Set for This Week!

    Operation Rescue reported Friday morning, “Just hours after 20 pro-life leaders held a press conference seeking an immediate vote on the delayed Pain Capable Unborn Child Protection Act, it has been announced that a vote will now take place next week.”

    The Weekly Standard published an article Friday morning, May 8, 2015 with this headline, “House to Vote on 20- Week Abortion Limit Next Week.”

    Pastor Manny Lardizabal issued the following statement in response to this encouraging BREAKING development, “This comes a day after many of us pro-life leaders gathered at Speaker Boehner’s office to pray and urge the ban on late term abortion.     This month we began the process of consulting with attorneys and coming up with a plan of action. Have you ever worked so hard to get something done and in those moments have everything seem to go wrong? Things break down, emails won’t send and it becomes obvious that Satan is attempting to thwart your efforts. Thankfully with diligence, perseverance and God’s mighty working power we were able to overcome these obstacles this month! However, this is common place for us here in New Mexico, which is why your prayers play an integral part in saving lives.

    James 5:16 tells us that “the prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.” Prayer is the most powerful tool we have in “our struggle that is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.” (Ephesians 6:12)

    New Mexico, “Is it OK to Kill a 7lb Baby?”

    This past legislative session New Mexico Senate Democrats killed all of the Pro-Life Bills introduced. Senator Jerry Ortiz y Pino was the chair of the Senate Committee in which three of the four bills were heard in.

    The late term abortion clinic in is Ortiz y Pino’s district as are the hotels that house abortion patients undergoing the 3-4 day procedure.

    Presidential candidate, Senator Rand Paul, recently posed this question to the Democratic National Convention, “Is it okay to kill a 7 pound baby in the uterus?” Protest ABQ thought that was a reasonable question to also ask of Democrat Senator Jerry Ortiz y Pino and the other Democrat politicians attending a local town hall meeting.

    It’s long overdue that New Mexicans held their pro-abortion legislators accountable, Protest ABQ is doing just that and our hope is that hearts will be changed in such a way that we will begin to see results at the legislative level.

    The Democratically controlled Senate Public Affairs Committee proved to be more biased than “democratic” by voting on party lines to kill ALL THREE pro-life bills introduced this legislative session. The first pro-life bill killed was SB 437 Physician Admitting Privileges for Abortions. This bill would have prevented abortion providers in New Mexico from ditching their patients on local Emergency Rooms where other physicians are left in the dark about the woman’s condition after an abortion related injury. (*UPDATE: The NM Senate killed a FOURTH Pro-Life Bill, WOMAN’S INFORMED DECISION ACT  SB 652!)

    During the charade chaired by Sen. Pino, he cut off the testimony of expert witness Tara Shaver, Senior Policy Advisor of Protest ABQ when she attempted to introduce 911 calls made from Albuquerque abortion facilities. Sen. Pino objected and threw a “tantrum,” claiming that the 911 calls were “too emotional” when the bill’s sponsor Sen. Brandt asked for the 911 calls to be played, which documented severe injuries sustained by women from Albuquerque abortion clinics.

    The New Mexico House sent two pro-life bills, HB 390 (Late-Term Abortion Ban) and HB 391 (Parental Notification for Abortion) to the Senate after a bipartisan vote on the House floor. These pro-life bills didn’t have a chance of passing this pro-abort Senate “Kill” committee. Chairman, Sen. Gerald Ortiz Y. Pino a proud, “Catholic for Choice” seemed more concerned about insulting his Priest, the Bible and his Church during his testimony. He stated that his Priest, exhorted the parishioners today [Sunday] to leave and do their duty to defend and protect the sanctity of human life. But Sen. Pino continued, “However the Bible has no scriptural basis for when life begins!” After this statement there was a roar of BOO’s resounding from the committee chamber. To which Sen Pino slammed down his gavel and chastised those for being “disrespectful” and threatened to have them “evicted.” Sen. Pino continued his tirade by publicly rebuking Alan Sanchez, spokesman for the three Bishops of New Mexico stating he disagreed with the Bishops attempt to, “force Roman Catholic teachings upon people of other faiths like Hindus, Muslims, and even atheists.”

    Ravenous pro-abortion Chairman Sen. Gerald Ortiz Y. Pino

    Sen. Pino’s attack of the Bible, Christians, and his own Church was frightening coming from an elected official.

    Other Senators chimed in with their lame excuses for opposing the Late-Term abortion bill. Sen. Jacob Candelaria stated that, “Abortion is a constitutional right.”

    Senator Daniel Ivey Soto continued the committee, “bully pulpit” by heaping abuse upon his pro-life constituents calling them, “unprincipled” and pretty much Hypocrites! Ironically during Soto’s testimony he spoke about how he and his wife watched their child so diligently in the womb, “never passing by an ultrasound without taking a quick peek” of his daughter, Olivia, calling her by name in-utero. He publicly stated he “wouldn’t do anything to harm her in the womb” but then went on to cast his vote in opposition of the Late-Term Abortion Ban, which would have protected viable babies in the womb at 20 weeks.

    I agree with Fr. Imbarrato, Director of Protest ABQ when he stated that we shouldn’t do things on the politicians’ terms, but instead we need to hold our elected officials accountable. Unless the pro-life movement can come together as a unified force, to be reckoned with, the New Mexico Senate will continue to kill pro-life legislation over the next 4 years.

    Both the Late-Term Abortion Ban HB 390 and the Parental Notification for Abortion HB 391 were tabled on party lines 5-3. ALL of the Senate Democrats voted to kill these pro-life bills: Jacob Candelaria (D-Albuquerque), Daniel Ivey-Soto (D-Albuquerque), Bill O’Neill (D-Albuquerque), Jerry Ortiz y Pino (D-Albuquerque) and Mimi Stewart (D-Albuquerque).

    Protest ABQ is a peaceful awareness campaign launched to educate and stand against the injustice of abortion through a strategic and sustained presence.   • NM Forced Vaccination Bill TABLED

    Santa Fe- A bill that would remove religious exemptions for vaccinations was tabled in a House committee on Saturday morning.

    Armstrong’s bill HB 522, “REMOVE RELIGION IMMUNIZATION EXEMPTION would have forced religious people to use unethical vaccines which have been directly linked to serious health risks and are derived from aborted children. According to Children of God for Life, there are currently 22 vaccines that contain aborted fetal remains.

    Armstrong began her testimony by telling the committee that her bill may have some portions that violate the constitution.

    According to New Mexico Political Report, “The committee room was packed full audience members, with the majority in opposition of the bill. Many people spoke out against vaccinations and why they might not be safe. Others spoke about religious freedom and why, they said, the bill would limit those freedoms. Republican committee members expressed concern with Armstrong that her bill would infringe on a person’s right to choose.”

    As a Pro-Life activist I never thought I would ever say, “My body, my choice” but this rhetoric is ironically spot on…when it comes to opposing forced vaccinations!

    There is the possibility that the bill could be tweaked and resubmitted before the end of the session so we will be keeping a close watch on this.

    Santa Fe- The New Mexico House passed the Late-Term abortion bill that would ban abortions at 20 weeks of pregnancy by a vote of 42-26. Five Democrats joined the Republican majority to pass the bill.

    Yvette Herrell, R-Alamogordo, the sponsor of  the Late Term Abortion Ban said, “New Mexico is known as a late-term abortion capital. Forty-two states have banned such abortions, and New Mexico is kind of behind the curve.”

    The bill does contain broad exemptions to preserve the life or health of the woman, or if the pregnancy resulted from sexual abuse, rape or incest.

    A second Pro-Life bill, Parental Notification For Abortion, was passed by the House by a vote of 39-28. Two Democrats joined the Republican majority to pass the bill. Alonzo Baldonado, R-Los Lunas was the bill’s sponsor.

    Both bills now head to the New Mexico Senate.

    Albuquerque, NM- With all of the “anti-vaccine” fear propaganda buzzing incessantly, a New Mexico Representative is attempting to legislate medical tyranny by introducing a forced vaccination mandate bill.

    Debbie Armstrong (D) from Albuquerque is the sponsor of HB 522, “REMOVE RELIGION IMMUNIZATION EXEMPTION“ which removes the religious exemption from those who choose not vaccinate their children.

    (By the way, here is a great article to provide perspective on the current measles discussion.)

    We know that the topic of vaccination can be a bit dodgy, especially for those who have children. However, what most people are completely unaware of is that some vaccines actually contain aborted human fetal cells. Yes, you read that right. According to Children of God for Life, there are currently 22 vaccines that contain aborted fetal remains.

    There is no “ethical” version of the commonly administered Mumps, Measles and Rubella (MMR) vaccine or the chickenpox vaccine. Also, noteworthy is that the Ebola vaccine that is underway also uses aborted fetal cells. To see the rest of the vaccines and other products using aborted fetal cells click here.

    The use of aborted fetal cells in vaccines also has links to the increase in autism, leukemia, and even childhood lymphoma.

    Armstrong’s bill will force religious people to use these unethical vaccines which have been directly linked to serious health risks and are derived from aborted children.

    Pro-Life Senate Bill 437 KILLED In (D) Controlled Senate

    Santa Fe, NM — In a crazy night of drama in the democratically controlled Senate Public Affairs Committee hearing, chaired by ravenous pro-abort Sen. Gerald Ortiz Y. Pino. The democrats were successful in tabling Pro-Life bill SB 437 Physician Admitting Privileges for Abortions.

    Pino played politics from the outset of this particular Senate hearing by pushing the pro-life bill SB 437 dead last (even though it was scheduled 4th in line). The bill was finally heard at 10:30pm.

    SB 437 had been “rolled over” from a previous date due to an appendicitis attack suffered by Senator Gay Kernan (R). Due to the shenanigans of Sen. Pino, Sen. Kernan was not able to stay and hear SB 437 since she was in severe pain and physically not able to endure the long night.

    Chairman Pino also cut off the testimony of expert witness Tara Shaver, Senior Policy Advisor of Protest ABQ when she attempted to introduce 911 calls made from Albuquerque abortion facilities. Sen. Pino objected and threw a “tantrum,” claiming that the 911 calls were “too emotional” when Sen. Brandt asked for the 911 calls to be played, which documented severe injuries sustained by women from Albuquerque abortion clinics.

    Tara Shaver issued the following statement after the committee hearing, “When facts are disregarded as emotion you know there’s a problem. Quote of the night ‘women need and want [to kill their children by] abortion.’ There you have it my friends: insanity. Hospital privilege bill was tabled and hearts were exposed. Jesus is Lord and that’s where I cast my crown.”

    Protest ABQ sponsored both the key testimony introduced by Sen. Brandt and testimony in support of the bill provided by Alliance Defending Freedom allied attorney Melanie Hathorne.

    Michael Norton, of Alliance Defending Freedom, was planning on attending the hearing last Friday but was not able to make it tonight. Here is an excerpt of the testimony he submitted to the committee members:

    “Dear Mr. Chairman:

    Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF) is pleased to represent Protest Albuquerque in regard to its support of Senate Bill 437.

    ADF is an alliance-building, non-profit legal organization that promotes religious liberty, sanctity of life, marriage and the family. While ADF itself does not engage in lobbying, ADF is able to explain the legal impact of a legislative proposal.

    SB 437 is important to the health and safety of women of New Mexico.

    -It acknowledges the critical need for there to be continuity of care by the physician who performed the abortion to the patient in the event of post-abortion complications.

    -It would enhance doctor-patient communications and the transfer of information about the patient and the post-abortion complications problems the patient is experiencing.

    -It would support the ethical duty of the abortionist to care for the physician’s patient and not engage in patient abandonment.

    -It would assure that there was a thorough evaluation mechanism of the abortion doctor’s competency to practice medicine and better protect patient safety.”

    Several members of the public endured the LONG night and circus atmosphere and testified in support of the pro-life bill. Cliff Severson, 40 Days For Life Coordinator of Rio Rancho and also proud member of Protest ABQ, shared his testimony of personally witnessing two ambulances transporting injured women from the late-term abortion clinic, Southwestern Women’s Options. He urged the committee to pass the bill to provide a measure of safety protocols for New Mexico women.

    Alan Sanchez, spokesman for the three Bishops of New Mexico urged the committee members to pass the bill stating that, “the Archdiocese of Santa Fe fully supports this bill.”

    Sen. Pino continued his belligerent attitude by throwing out a supporter of the bill after his testimony!

    Needless to say the Democrats voted on party lines to kill SB 437!

    Albuquerque, NM- On Tuesday, March 3rd SB 437 will be heard in the Senate Public Affairs Committee in Santa Fe. This Pro-Life bill needs your support through email, phone calls and in Santa Fe on Tuesday. Your presence is also needed to be a visible and vocal support of this bill.

    We just got word that the Pro-aborts are busing in people from out of state to testify at the committee hearing in opposition of this IMPORTANT Pro-Life bill!

    SB 437 will be heard in Room 321 in the Roundhouse. Please be there by 12:00pm since this is a small room and we need as many people (at least 30) in support of this bill inside as possible.

    Each week out of state abortionists fly or drive into New Mexico from California, Arizona and Texas to perform abortions through all nine months of pregnancy.

    Most women who seek abortions at these clinics do not have any relationship with the physician who performs the abortion either before or after the procedure.

    In most instances, the woman’s only actual contact with the abortion provider occurs simultaneously with the abortion procedure, with little opportunity to ask questions about the procedure, potential complications, and proper follow-up care.

    The bottom line is that when life threatening abortion injuries occur, every second counts. 

    Hospital admitting privileges will ensure that the abortion provider will be held accountable to get proper care for women the fastest. 

    -SB 437 will provide the minimum protection and continuity of care that women deserve here in New Mexico. When life threatening abortion injuries occur, every second counts.

    -SB 437 will also prevent abortion providers in New Mexico from ditching their patients on local Emergency Rooms where other physicians are left in the dark about the woman’s condition. This wastes precious time in diagnosing the problem and bringing in specialists to deal with it.

Complaints were filed with the Medical Board and the investigation into these unsafe clinics is progressing. In addition, the role of the University of New Mexico in the abortion industry has been fully documented, and efforts are underway to convince the UNM Regents to cease all participation in abortion and abortion training.

    Year in Review: Top Ten Victories from 2012:  Shelley Sella, faced a disciplinary hearing before the New Mexico Medical Board in November for gross negligence in a 35week abortion where Sella overused uterine contracting drugs on a woman with a history of a previous Caesarian Section, resulting in a ruptured uterus. The injury was discovered when former OR intern Tara Shaver obtained the 911 call records. OR and Mrs. Shaver filed complaints resulting in the Board action.

The Protest ABQ campaign has been attributed by national pro-life groups for the dramatic political reversal in New Mexico, “Dramatic Reversal: Abortion Protests Lead to Promising Public Policy Shift in New Mexico” also, “Tectonic Political Shift in New Mexico Prompts Life-Saving Pro-Life Legislation.”

    In fact, as I am writing this, the 20 week Late-Term Abortion Ban just passed the second NM House committee and will now proceed to the House floor for a vote! This is one of the ONLY pro-life bills to ever make it to the NM House floor for an up or down vote in New Mexico in over 60 years!

    TWO Pro-Life Bills Reach House Floor

    The 20 week Late-Term Abortion Ban (HB 390) PASSED the second and final NM House Committee vote 7-6. It will now go to the House floor for an up or down vote! The bill’s wording was amended to make the determination of “viability” stronger.

    Due to some criticism over the exceptions in the bill for rape, incest, and sexual abuse, Alan Sanchez spokesman for the three Bishops of New Mexico addressed this issue during his testimony at the House Judiciary committee hearing.”The bill would be a step toward outlawing abortion — a position the Catholic Church supports.” He stated that, according to “Evangelium Vitae 73″,  exceptions included in the bill do not violate Catholic teaching if the purpose of the legislation is to seek to save the lives of some babies. The late-term abortion ban was requested this legislative session on behalf of the three bishops of New Mexico.

     In Evangelium Vitae 73 Pope John Paul II states, “A particular problem of conscience can arise in cases where a legislative vote would be decisive for the passage of a more restrictive law, aimed at limiting the number of authorised abortions, in place of a more permissive law already passed or ready to be voted on.  Such cases are not infrequent.  It is a fact that while in some parts of the world there continue to be campaigns to introduce laws favouring abortion, often supported by powerful international organisations, in other nations––particularly those which have already experienced the bitter fruits of such permissive legislation––there are growing signs of a rethinking in this matter.  In a case like the one just mentioned, when it is not possible to overturn or completely abrogate a pro-abortion law, an elected official, whose absolute personal opposition to procured abortion was well known, could licitly support proposals aimed at limiting the harm done by such a law and at lessening its negative consequences at the level of general opinion and public morality.  This does not in fact represent an illicit co-operation with an unjust law, but rather a legitimate and proper attempt to limit its evil aspects. [emphasis in original]”

    The second pro-life bill to pass the House JUDICIARY COMMITTEE (7-5) was HB 391 (PARENTAL NOTIFICATION OF ABORTION ACT). This bill, “protects minors from sexual predators, protects parents’ rights and establishes an abortion doctor’s responsibility to notify parents before underage girls undergo an invasive abortion procedure.” The bill’s wording was amended from death to “physical health.”

    If both bill pass the New Mexico House floor they will then go through 2 Senate committee hearing meetings before reaching the NM Senate floor. If the NM Senate passes the bill it will then go to Gov. Susana Martinez’s desk for her signature.

    SB 437: Hospital Admitting Privileges Committee Hearing this Friday

    Albuquerque, NM- On Friday, February 27th SB 437 will be heard in the Senate Public Affairs Committee in Santa Fe. This PRO-LIFE bill needs your support through email, phone calls and in Santa Fe on Friday. Two other bills (Late Term Ban and Parental Notification) will also be heard in committee on Friday so it is imperative that everyone that is able comes up to speak in support of one of these bills.

    SB 437 will be heard in Room 326 in the Roundhouse. Please be there before 1:00pm since this is a small room and we need as many people in support of this bill inside as possible.

    SB 437 will provide the minimum protection and continuity of care that women deserve here in New Mexico. When life threatening abortion injuries occur, every second counts.

    Hospital admitting privileges will ensure that the abortion provider will be held accountable to get proper care for women the fastest.

    SB 437 will also prevent abortion providers in New Mexico from ditching their patients on local Emergency Rooms where other physicians are left in the dark about the woman’s condition. This wastes precious time in diagnosing the problem and bringing in specialists to deal with it.

    Albuquerque, NM- On Tuesday, February 24th the Senate Public Affairs Committee will hear testimony on Senate Bill 137 sponsored by Linda Lopez. SB 137 titled “Prevention of Births Among Adolescents” which appropriates $500,000 a year to the NM Department of Health to implement statewide “programming” to prevent births among adolescents.

    The Fiscal Impact Report for this bill gives further insight into what this “programming” entails. Apparently the funds will be utilized by the DOH Family Planning Program (FPP) which promotes population-based strategies: service learning and positive youth development programs, adult/teen communication programs, and comprehensive sex education programs.

    Furthermore the report states that, “These strategies work in concert with clinical family planning services to prevent teen pregnancy. Clinical family planning services are provided in public health offices statewide and in some community and School-Based Health Centers (SBHC). Clinical services include birth control, counseling, and laboratory tests.”

    “This bill is merely a way to further indoctrinate adolescents with sex education that is well known for promoting casual “safe” sex as long as one is using birth control. Young people need proper direction and guidance on self worth, and to be taught that abstaining from sexual activity is the only way to prevent pregnancy 100% of the time,” stated Bud Shaver.

    Our last expose’ on the University of New Mexico’s radical abortion agenda included the fact that UNM also has a presence through School Based Health Centers. These centers are currently in two Albuquerque high schools, three middle schools, and one elementary school. The Adolescent Division of UNM proudly boasts that their “physicians are comfortable seeing teenagers with any sort of problem, from acne to contraception.”

    The pro-life community should also be concerned that Planned Parenthood may be a recipient of some of these funds. An undercover investigation conducted back in 2013 revealed that Planned Parenthood of New Mexico was willing to cover up the sexual exploitation of minors. In light of this Bud Shaver, issued the following statement, “Young girls in New Mexico cannot trust Planned Parenthood to do the right thing, so we are calling on New Mexico legislators to protect our young girls from sexual predators…and from Planned Parenthood!”

    We ask that you contact the committee members below and ask them to oppose SB 137. People of conscience should not be forced to foot the bill for sex education that will inevitably lead to more pregnancies among our youth. These pregnancies will then most certainly turn into tax funded medicaid abortions which will further perpetuate the culture of death in our state.

    TWO Pro-Life Bills PASSED House Committee Hearing

    Late-Term Abortion BAN HB 390 which will restrict abortions after 20 weeks (based on viability) PASSED the first of two House Committee hearings 4-3 on Friday February 20, 2015. It was amended during the committee hearing to go into IMMEDIATE effect once signed into law by New Mexico Gov. Susana Martinez.

    There were over 5 hours of public testimony with people testifying from all across New Mexico, the youngest of which was 12 (testifying in support of the bill.) HB 390 does contain a broad “health” exception and a “sexual abuse, rape, or incest” exception. Testimony was presented regarding the exceptions in the bill for rape, incest, and sexual abuse. Everyone is encouraged to attend future hearings and to give their testimony.

    This bill, though not perfect, does have the potential of saving the lives of many viable babies currently scheduled for death in New Mexico. You can read the bill in its entirety here: LATE-TERM ABORTION BAN.

    The second bill to pass the House REGULATORY & PUBLIC AFFAIRS COMMITTEE was HB 391 (PARENTAL NOTIFICATION OF ABORTION ACT).     Albuquerque, NM- The New Mexico Vital Statistics has released its annual Selected Health Statistics Report that includes data on abortions performed in the state. This data shows that abortions in New Mexico increased 8% from 3,134 in 2012 to 3,408 abortions in 2013.

    The report shows that minority Hispanic women are disproportionately targeted by the abortion cartel, accounting for 53% of all abortions in the state while Hispanics account for only 42.1% of the population.

    In addition, abortions rose amongst Hispanic women by 9% from 1,643 in 2012 to 1,798 in 2013. This represented a larger percentage than the overall statewide trend.

    According to Life Dynamics’s report, “Racial Targeting and Population Control,” New Mexico has the highest concentration of Hispanics of all 50 states.

    Pro-abortion organizations like Planned Parenthood, Young Women United and even the University of New Mexico have exploited this demographic in the worst possible way by targeting them for elimination by abortion.

    As documented in previous reports, the University of New Mexico has a sordid reputation of targeting Hispanics for elimination by abortion thanks to UNM’s Eve Espey, Professor and Chair of the Department of OB-GYN, and Medical Director at UNM’s off-site abortion facility, the UNM Center for Reproductive Health.

    Espey has also worked on the faculty of the Health Sciences Global Health Program (GHP), which collaborates with the United Nation’s World Health Organization (WHO) on education, service and research. Espey’s focus with the GHP was family planning and abortion in Mexico and Central America.

    Espey performs abortions up to 22 weeks and is Medical Director at the UNM Center for Reproductive Health abortion facility. Eve Espey is not modest when it comes to promoting a radical pro-abortion agenda at UNM, she is the main catalyst for this agenda according to her medical students.

    As an avid promoter of abortion expansion in New Mexico and worldwide, Eve Espey received the 2014 Margaret Sanger award at the New Mexico Planned Parenthood’s 50 year celebration. Sanger was the founder of Planned Parenthood, whose beginnings were deeply rooted in a racist, eugenics agenda, as evidenced by her own writings.

    Sanger once stated, “Eugenics is … the most adequate and thorough avenue to the solution of racial, political and social problems.” (The Eugenic Value of Birth Control Propaganda. Birth Control Review, October 1921, page 5.)

    “Hispanic women are being lulled to their cultural extinction by following the ‘Abortion Pied Piper’ in New Mexico to the demise of their progeny. Unfortunately, pro-abortion groups in the state are doing a better job of marketing death to these women than they are in actually helping women through their pregnancies,” stated Bud Shaver.

    It is up to those of us who support life-affirming alternatives to abortion to see that this deadly trend is reversed.

Imbarrato launched Protest ABQ as a “year of rebuke” after the residents of ABQ decided that killing babies after 20 weeks of pregnancy is tolerable here. The mission of Protest ABQ has been simple, we protested and exposed those who profit from, condone and support abortion. These protests have finally culminated into the first ever National Protests and Strike for Life that was observed on Jan. 22-23, we had both nationwide and statewide participation.     We realize that people may not have understood or fully supported our Protest ABQ efforts over the past year but we believe that God is using ALL of the pro-life efforts statewide including those of Protest ABQ to perfectly align the opportunity for those in authority to seek justice on behalf of our pre-born neighbors.

    Our yearlong protests have produced a change of heart from our Gov. who has finally gone on record stating that she will support a late-term abortion ban and now our legislators have an opportunity to not only go on the record but to go a step further and enact a bill that will cripple the abortion industry in the state.

Our research revealed that in NM abortions were legal and being performed through all nine months of pregnancy. Notorious abortionist Curtis Boyd, owner of late-term “abortion” killing center, Southwestern Women’s Options located in Albuquerque, New Mexico, has marketed and capitalized on this harsh reality. This fact alone has earned ABQ the designation as the late term abortion capital of the nation.     On January 22-23rd Protest ABQ held protests at the State Capital building in Santa Fe, NM, in front of the New Mexico Medical Board and other high traffic areas including 2 of the 3 remaining abortion facilities in Albuquerque. Our protests were effective in exposing the injustice of abortion which so many, including satan himself, wants to keep hidden.  Our protests also served to show our leaders and others in authority that as New Mexicans we do not want pre-born child killing to be ignored or tolerated any longer.

    While it was a disappointment in the nations capital, Washington D.C., with “Pro-Life” lawmakers sabotaging the Vote on Bill to Ban Abortions after 20 weeks…However, on the FIRST day of National Protests and Strike Jan. 22, 2015 here in the capital city of New Mexico, there was an encouraging development which was on the front page of the Santa Fe New Mexican…

    The pro-life community from all across the world came together in prayer and action in an attempt to help a divided family from the United Kingdom who traveled to the United States for a late-term abortion. Unfortunately, the pro-life efforts were unsuccessful and a mother aborted her 30-week old baby yesterday in the U.S.

    Local New Mexico-based pro-life advocate Bud Shaver tells LifeNews that a 20-year-old woman came to Albuquerque, New Mexico to seek an abortion at 30 weeks of pregnancy. The young woman traveled with her radically pro-abortion father by her side, he said, who was pressuring her to have the abortion.

    ultrasound4d58The woman’s mother sought help within the UK and then Priests For Life became involved once the woman was on her way to the United States.

    Janet Morana, Executive Director of Priests For Life, issued an urgent plea yesterday to pro-life activists before the abortion with more details about the situation.

    “Urgent prayer needed! A 20-year-old woman from Great Britain is on her way to New Mexico to abort her baby. She is 30 weeks pregnant. Her mother in Great Britain and her uncle in Spain have reached out to Priests for Life for our help and prayer. She is in Atlanta now, aware that she and her father will be prosecuted when they return home, because it is illegal in the UK to go to another country for an abortion. She is going to pay $12,000 to kill this almost full-term baby at Southwestern Women’s Options in Albuquerque on Tuesday. Please pray for Emily and her baby.”

    Fr. Stephen Imbarrato, a local priest in New Mexico who is also a leading local pro-life activist, also tried to help the family find abortion alternatives. Fr. Imbarrato worked tirelessly with the family to make the best resources available to this young woman and her father and offered to pay allof the costs of flying the family to a maternity home willing to take in the young woman and provide for her.

    Sadly, as Shaver tells LifeNews, the young woman went ahead with the abortion.

    “Unfortunately it appears that the young mother did end up killing her child despite all of our best efforts. Please keep her and her family in your prayers, they will need your prayers now more than ever,” he said.

    A local pro-life sidewalk counselor at the late-term abortion clinic in New Mexico that did the abortion yesterday reported from the scene.

    “It breaks my heart to tell you that it seems Emily went through with the abortion. Every possible effort was made by our pro-life community to save this baby & her mother from the pain abortion WILL cause her,” the local pro-life advocate said.

    The sidewalk counselor indicate the woman would return today to complete the abortion.

    “If you would, please continue to pray. Because Emily was 30 weeks along, she will need to return to the clinic tomorrow to have her cervix artificially softened in order to deliver her dead baby. She will labor as if she is full term & her as if her baby were alive. I cannot fathom how painful this will be. Not to mention the lifetime of regret & suffering Emily will endure because of this choice,” the counselor said.

    2014 Year In Review

    It’s hard to believe that it’s that time of year again, a time to reflect and praise God for all that He has done. As pro-life missionaries we strive to heed God’s prompting and the Holy Spirit’s leading. This year has been chock full of EXPOSING and PROTESTING those who perpetuate abortion in New Mexico.

    We continue to be amazed by how He refocuses our efforts and gives us the strength and endurance to continue moving forward to END the injustice of abortion.

    Just this month as we arrived for family photos, we were surprised by who our photographer was. You may remember the story we shared back in 2010 about a 17 year old girl who was being pressured into an abortion by her family. Tara obtained the girl’s number and began texting her in the clinic, texting truth into her life along with pictures of what babies look like in the womb at 6weeks old.

    This mom bravely walked out of Planned Parenthood and now her son is 3 years old with a one year old sister to boot! How awesome is our God that He works in the lives of the desperate and gives them a hope and a future. What a blessing for us to come face to face with living proof of the effectiveness of being faithful and obedient to God’s call.

    Breaking Video! Ambulance Transports Woman from Late Term Abortion Facility

    Albuquerque, NM- Protest ABQ just received footage from December 19, 2014 documenting an ambulance arriving at the controversial late term abortion clinic Southwestern Women’s Options (SWO), to transport a woman to the hospital during a botched abortion.

    Abortionists Susan Robinson and Shelley Sella fly in alternate weeks from California to perform risky late term abortions which culminate in labor and delivery of a dead baby on Friday of each week.

    Tara Shaver, of Protest ABQ confirmed that Shelley Sella was the abortionist on duty when this most recent call for paramedics occurred. This injury adds to Sella’s history of abortions that have gone seriously wrong, in fact on May 12, 2011 Sella sent a woman to the hospital from SWO during a 35 week abortion that ruptured the woman’s uterus. The New Mexico Medical Board failed to bring disciplinary action against Sella since there is no standard of care for abortion in New Mexico.

    Abortion clinics in New Mexico fly under the radar of inspection and oversight since they are unregulated by the NM Department of Health.

    This is the 17th known woman that has been transferred to the emergency room during a botched abortion from SWO since 2008. New Mexico has no minimum safety standards for abortion facilities.

    “While abortion is never safe for mother or child, those who champion abortion in New Mexico cannot claim to care about women seeking abortions when these injuries continue to pile up without consequence,” stated Bud Shaver, Executive Director of Protest ABQ.

    New Mexicans will have the opportunity to pass pro-life legislation in January 2015 after over 50 years of obstruction by radical pro-abortion politicians in the legislature. It is the hope of Protest ABQ that reasonable legislation will be introduced and sent to Governor Martinez’s desk to sign.

    Dear Friends,

    In the spirit of thanksgiving we want to reiterate to all of you how grateful we are for your continued support of our ministry here in New Mexico. It is our mission to expose the deeds of darkness in Albuquerque together with saving the lives of precious babies AND their moms, while proclaiming the name of Jesus Christ.

    Even though beginning January 1, 2015 we will no longer be under Project Defending Life’s (PDL) banner, we will still be working alongside Fr. Imbarrato (Founder and former Director of PDL) maintaining his vision of Protest ABQ with the sole mission of ending abortion in New Mexico. Bud is still maintaining a presence at both the late term abortion clinic as well as UNM’s killing center AND organizing weekly high profile public awareness efforts to oppose and expose the radical abortion agenda entrenched in our city and state.

    We will continue to pursue the “Abortion Free” strategy that Operation Rescue commissioned us here to implement. In fact, our efforts here in New Mexico are featured in their new book, Abortion Free: Your Manual for Building a Pro-Life America One Community at a Time.

    Next year we ALSO plan to expand our outreach to the local school campuses, both high school and college, in an effort to reach the up and coming generation.

    All that we do for the sake of saving lives from the atrocity of abortion, we do in the name of Jesus and to the glory of the Father. We are earnestly seeking to create a life affirming culture for OUR children. We will continue to run the race with confidence knowing that we did ALL that we could to righteously pursue justice in this state.

    Albuquerque, NM- New Mexico is the late term abortion capital of America and is drawing women from all 50 states and beyond for abortions through all nine months of pregnancy. Due to this fact Albuquerque is also the protest capital of America because of the sustained efforts of Protest ABQ.

    On November 18, 2014 Protest ABQ, along with other major pro-life groups, announced it’s national call to action consisting of two days of protest and the first ever national strike throughout the pro-life community. Protest ABQ has been protesting and exposing those in New Mexico who support, condone and profit from the abortion industry. These protests will continue and culminate to the national protest and strike on January 22-23, 2015.

    The term “protest” sometimes bears negative connotations, but as can be seen from the simple dictionary definition, “protest” serves a noble purpose: “to declare by speaking out with words or action, expressing earnestly our disapproval.”

    Fr. Stephen Imbarrato, Founder of Protest ABQ is encouraging all like-minded people of conscience to begin their protests now and issued the following statement, “There is no reason why every community across this nation does not begin protesting those who support, condone and profit from the abortion industry today and everyday.  In fact, everything I do in my pro-life ministry, I do in protest of pre-born child killing.”These protests should be peaceful and prayerful and ultimately culminate in the national protests and a strike on January 22-23, 2015.

    Protest ABQ is reaching out to pro-life groups and realizes that together, we must endeavor to promote national protests and a national strike in order for this to send the strongest message possible to our leaders.     Albuquerque, NM- Protest ABQ is joined by national Pro-Life organizations, including Operation Rescue, Created Equal, and Survivors of the Abortion Holocaust in declaring a national call to action: a National Strike and Protests on January 22-23, 2015.

    America has endured 41 years of legalized abortion, now is the time to stand together in solidarity as a people of conscience to end the killing of children in the womb, says Fr. Stephen Imbarrato, founder of Protest ABQ in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

    The use of strikes in various venues have been and continue to be effective in producing change. This one-of-a-kind call for two days of national strike and protests has the potential of sending a resounding message to the leaders of this nation that the American people want abortion to end.

    The yearly anniversary of Roe vs. Wade continues to be a day of mourning across the pro-life community. Each year thousands gather in Washington D.C. to protest against this evil.

    However, to step up our call to end abortion, we are encouraging all like-minded people throughout the country not to go to work or school nor spend money on Thursday, January 22nd and Friday, January 23rd, 2015, but instead to join together for prayer, fasting and PROTEST in their localities.

    All participants must commit to following the model of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. in their protests.”Even if we were to be beaten, screamed at, or abused, we will not respond in kind,” stated Fr. Imbarrato.

    Protests will be held in front of state capitol buildings, busy intersections, and abortion facilities. No place is off limits and no one who profits from, supports, or condones pre-born child killing is immune from these protests.

    Together, we are calling on national religious and pro-life leaders to join us and encourage all like-minded people to participate in a national strike.

    Fr. Imbarato stated, “Let January 22, 2015, be the start of the national strike, which shuts this country down so that our government and the American people understand the urgency of ending legalized pre-born child-killing. It is time that the successful strategies of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and the Polish Solidarity Movement led by Lech Walesa and Fr.Jerzy Popieluszko be implemented in the United States to end this injustice!”

    We will not condone violence of any kind by anyone in this National Strike. Indeed, we are protesting the use of violence — against children in the womb. We will peacefully and prayerfully protest this violence.

    In the coming weeks and months leading up to January 22-23, 2015 Protest ABQ will be calling on all Pro-Life groups to commit to joining this historic effort.

    Sometimes the fruit of our efforts is SIMPLY being the catalyst for a conversation about abortion. When abortion is brought to light in any public way, especially through the media, WE ALWAYS WIN! Abortion is after all…indefensible.

    This month, unexpectedly, our steadfast and faithful efforts have caused both a local…and a national storm! The whole city was buzzing about a sign  that has been used outside of the the late term abortion clinic for 4 years. The local news media even covered the story and we thought the coverage was fair.

    Several other Christian and secular media covered the story as well. People are talking about and considering their position on abortion as a result. God is good and always at work.

    On a national level, the Protest ABQ efforts reached a pro-abortion journalist for COSMOPOLITAN who wanted to write a piece about governor Martinez being a potential GOP candidate in 2016. We’ve included the article below and praise God with us for the fairness of the article in light of the author.
