With Roe v. Wade Overturned, Americans Gather September 10th To Mourn Preborn Victims

    By Bud Shaver

Albuquerque, New Mexico- In the wake of Roe v. Wade being overturned, abortion has become a major issue in the 2022 midterm elections. Over a dozen states have enacted abortion bans, while other states are expanding abortion, and voters across the country are being bombarded with political ads on the abortion issue. But on Saturday, September 10, local residents will gather to remind the community that abortion is not just a political issue. They will be marking the tenth annual National Day of Remembrance for Aborted Children with a graveside memorial service at 10AM at Sandia Memory Gardens 9500 San Pedro NE. Albuquerque, NM 87113.

“Visiting the graves of aborted children really puts these political battles into perspective,” said Tara Shaver of Abortion Free New Mexico, organizer of the Day of Remembrance in Albuquerque. “In fact, you may be surprised to learn that some of those victims have been buried right here in Albuquerque.”

Fr. Stephen Imbarrato of Life Ministries U.S. obtained the aborted babies, Eve and Ryan, and with the help of Abortion Free New Mexico buried them at Sandia Memory Gardens. This location also has memorial headstones for local babies lost to abortion along with babies lost to miscarriage.

Shaver continued, “In the 49 years that Roe v. Wade was the law of the land, more than 60 million unborn children suffered the violence of abortion. All the angry protests, overwrought political ads, and self-serving corporate grandstanding fade into silence when you realize that actual victims of abortion are buried right beneath your feet. These tiny children were never born. Never learned to walk. Never had a first day of school. They were never even given names.”

Of the over 60 million victims of abortion since Roe v. Wade was handed down in 1973, only a tiny fraction have received a proper burial, at gravesites scattered throughout the country. But all of them will be mourned on September 10 during memorial services at those gravesites and dozens of other memorial markers set up in their honor.

The Day of Remembrance is being organized by three national pro-life groups—Citizens for a Pro-Life Society, Priests for Life and the Pro-Life Action League—to humanize the unborn victims of abortion by raising awareness of their burial places. The bodies of tens of thousands of aborted children have been retrieved from trash bins, landfills and other locations and buried at more than 50 gravesites across the country.

Join Abortion Free New Mexico in Albuquerque, at the only location in New Mexico where two aborted children are buried, for the National Day of Remembrance for Aborted Children and ensure that our unborn brothers and sisters will not be forgotten.

By participating in the National Day of Remembrance, visiting these solemn memorial places at other times of the year, and spreading the word about this prayer campaign, you are helping to humanize our aborted brothers and sisters and deepening your own commitment to ending the injustice of abortion. The National Day of Remembrance also offers hope and healing to women who have had abortions and others who have been hurt by abortion.

  • New Mexico Medicaid Spent Nearly $1,000,000 of Taxpayer Money To Fund Abortions From 2020-2021

New Mexico Medicaid Spent Nearly $1,000,000 of Taxpayer Money To Fund Abortions From 2020-2021

    By Bud Shaver,

    Albuquerque, New Mexico-
Abortion Free New Mexico has obtained the most current Medicaid data from the New Mexico Human Services Department which shows how much state tax dollars are being used to fund abortions through New Mexico Medicaid.

    • New Mexico is currently one of 16 states that, due to a court order fully funds all abortions, even those in the third trimester.

In a public records request submitted on July 13, 2022, Abortion Free New Mexico’s Tara Shaver asked for information that is a matter of public record which included:

“1. Total number of abortions abortions paid for by New Mexico medicaid in 2020 and 2022. 2. Please include with specificity the week of pregnancy in which each abortion was performed and also the medical provider who was reimbursed for the procedure. 3. Total dollar amount that was paid for these procedures.”

Unfortunately, under the current administration only the total number of abortions and the total dollar amount reimbursed by New Mexico Medicaid in 2020 and 2022 was provided. This lack of transparency is in stark contrast to previous years that Abortion Free New Mexico has made public requests in order to inform the public about how their money is used to fully fund abortions using state tax dollars.

    • In 2020, New Mexico Medicaid funded 3,372 abortion procedures that resulted in expenditures to abortion providers totaling $386,096.06.
    • In 2021, the numbers rose as New Mexico Medicaid funded 3,955 abortion procedures that resulted in expenditures to abortion providers totaling $421,026.90.
    • This amounts to almost $1 million tax dollars funding 7,327 abortions over the course of two years alone!

On Wednesday, August 31, 2022 Governor Lujan Grisham signed an executive order pledging to designate $10 million dollars to fund a borderland abortion center in Dona Ana County. By signing this order she has vowed to use New Mexico tax dollars to fund out of state abortions, primarily for women who cross state lines to kill their unborn children. For her to be able to foist this radical agenda upon New Mexicans she would have to be re-elected and be able to get the funds approved through the state legislature. Abortion Free New Mexico has been working tirelessly to make sure this doesn’t happen by helping to get out the vote for pro-life candidates.

“Nearly $1,000,000 of our tax dollars that are already being paid out by New Mexico Medicaid over the past two years alone for 7,327 abortions should alarm us all and motivate us to act! While we can’t stop New Mexico Medicaid from funding abortions, we can work to prevent Michelle Lujan Grisham’s latest attempt to force us as New Mexican citizens to pay for an abortion center that will cater to out of state women seeking to kill their children by voting pro-life. It is vital that each New Mexican of conscience is mobilized to help get pro-life candidates elected in November. Early voting is right around the corner so time is of the essence to volunteer your time, talents and treasure to the candidate of your choice who will stand for life and make sure that Lujan Grisham’s nefarious plans don’t come to fruition,” stated Tara Shaver, spokeswoman for Abortion Free New Mexico.

HIJACKED: ABQ City Budget Funds $250,000 To Planned Parenthood Only $100,000 To Barrett House

    By Bud Shaver

Albuquerque, New Mexico- Albuquerque City Councilor Renee Grout’s effort to re-appropriate $250,000 away from Planned Parenthood was hijacked Monday night, August 15, 2022, and ultimately failed. The Albuquerque City Council voted to approve an amended version of R-22-46 which will now give $250,000 to Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains as well as $100,000 to the Barrett House and $100,000 to the Community Energy Efficiency Project.

The amendment that hijacked Grout’s original intent to prevent $250,000 taxpayer dollars from funding the nations largest abortion provider was sponsored by Councilors: Tammy Fiebelkorn (D), Trudy Jones (R) and Klarissa Pena (D). Once again a Republican, Trudy Jones, voted with liberal progressive democrats to ensure that Planned Parenthood will receive taxpayer dollars which violates the consciences of many residents in the city of Albuquerque.

There were many present in support of Councilor Renee Grout’s amendment to re-approppriate the Planned Parenthood funds to the Barrett House, they spoke very rationally about the need to use those funds to help homeless women and their children which would alleviate some of the crisis our city is currently experiencing. Many shared that it makes more sense to use the funds for the immediate needs of our community and that taxpayers should never be forced to pay for abortions.

Most of those who spoke in favor of  funding of Planned Parenthood were members of the Party for Socialism and Liberation. They called for an increase in funding to Planned Parenthood due to the increased traffic the state anticipates in the wake of the overturning of Roe v Wade. The original sponsor of the bill, Tammy Fiebelkorn, agreed with their call for additional funds and she made it clear that she is an unapologetic supporter of the business that kills over 300,000 babies in the womb each year.

Councilor Dan Lewis rightly pointed out,

“Planned Parenthood of New Mexico performs surgical dismemberment abortions up to 5 months gestation and brings in an annual revenue of  $4.7 million dollars!”

Lewis raised the question as to why Planned Parenthood need additional money from Albuquerque taxpayers. This unfortunately did not sway the 5 members of the council that ultimately voted to pass the bill.

    • Isaac Benton, (D) District 2
    • Klarissa Peña, (D) District 3
    •  Pat Davis, (D) District 6
    • Tammy Fiebelkorn, (D) District 7
    • Trudy Jones, (R)  District 8

“Abortion Free New Mexico is grateful for Councilor Grout’s effort to re-appropriate the funds away from Planned Parenthood and into the hands of organizations that provide real help for homeless women and children. Elections have consequences and the residents of Albuquerque must work to replace council members like Trudy Jones who depart from their party platform and refuse to listen to their constituents. Last night’s vote was unconscionable, reckless and should motivate us to change the makeup of our city council, ” stated Tara Shaver spokeswoman of Abortion Free New Mexico.

If you live in District 8, which includes Albuquerque’s Far Northeast Heights and Foothills, please consider running for that City Council position to unseat Trudy Jones in November 2024.

Albuquerque, New Mexico- On August 15, 2022 the Albuquerque City Council will discuss and vote on reappropriating the $250,000 tax payer dollars that were approved in the city’s budget in May. Albuquerque residents have the opportunity to let their voices be heard in support of the reallocation of funds, either in person or by email using links below.

City Councilor Renee Grout is the sponsor of R-22-46 which will reallocate these funds to the Barrett House and Youth Homeless Shelters. Abortion Free New Mexico has referred numerous homeless women to the Barrett House over the years for shelter and assistance.

Tara Shaver, spokeswoman for Abortion Free New Mexico issued the following statement:

“The decision made by the Albuquerque city council to give taxpayer money to Planned Parenthood sets an unconscionable precedent, tax paying citizens should never be forced to fund businesses that perform abortions or advocate for the killing of pre-born children. Abortion Free New Mexico is grateful to councilor Renee Grout, who proudly signed Abortion Free New Mexico’s a pro-life pledge, for taking a pro-active approach to redirecting these funds.”

Let’s support Councilor Grout’s efforts to redirect these funds. Please let your voice be heard as a resident of Albuquerque and respectfully ask these city councilors to support the reallocation of these funds so that they may be used to benefit women, children and youth.

    Please Support R-22-46

    Dear Council Member,

As a concerned citizen in New Mexico, I urge you to support R-22-46 reappropriating the funds originally designated to Planned Parenthood in the city budget. Planned Parenthood is a private, billion-dollar organization providing services that violate the consciences of many taxpayers. I believe it is a better use of taxpayer dollars to fund solutions to real and current issues such as our women, children, and youth homelessness.

    Thank you

Battles Are Not Won From The Sidelines!

    By Bud Shaver

Albuquerque, New Mexico- Abortion Free New Mexico believes in the power of prayer to change hearts, minds and to transform our culture! This is why we launched No Sidewalk Without the Savior in April of this year. Our goal is to have an unbroken chain of public prayer, on location, every hour that the UNM late-term abortion facility is open.

This is the most basic thing we as the pro-life community can do. We get to pray at our cities most darkest location and make ourselves visible to our community and available for women seeking abortions.

“Now more than ever, we need to pray collectively, publicly, and strategically. Our presence has the ability to reform The University of New Mexico – UNM so that they get out of the abortion business!” Bud Shaver, Abortion Free New Mexico

It is now more important than ever to get involved.

Abortion Free New Mexico invites YOU to sign up for the month of August and to pray for one hour a week. Our volunteers have shared with us what the Lord is doing in and through them during this time of prayer. Some have shared that they are full of so much joy while standing for such a worthy cause.

  • Roe Overturned! Democracy Restored

    By Bud Shaver,

Albuquerque, New Mexico- In a 5-4 ruling, the U.S. Supreme Court has overturned Roe v. Wade! Power has been restored back to the people, states all across the country can now enact and enforce just laws protecting the most vulnerable lives, those living and developing in their mothers womb.

Tara Shaver, spokeswoman for Abortion Free New Mexico issued the following statement,

Today’s SCOTUS decision will save countless lives and ushers in a new era of building a culture that loves life across this nation.

The Supreme Court of the United States has finally reinstated democracy with the overruling of Roe v. Wade by restoring the legislative power back to the states. For far too many years the states have been prohibited from enacting life saving legislation that would protect babies and their mothers from the horrors and long term effects of abortion. The unjust halting of pro-life legislation across the nation by the lower courts and by judicial activism can now come to an end.

Abortion Free New Mexico is grateful that the States will now be able to enact and enforce life saving legislation that will protect the most vulnerable lives in our community, pre-born lives.

In New Mexico, our battle for life continues as we must now work harder than ever to support Pro-Life Candidates and take back control from the radical pro-abortion Democrats that have seized all levels of power, thwarting any common sense Pro-Life measures from being passed. New Mexico has been and will continue to be ground zero in our country for abortion tourism and a destination for the most extreme and barbaric abortions through all nine months of pregnancy.

Abortion Free New Mexico stands with the local Pro-Life community to build a stronger alliance to meet the needs of pregnant women and we renew our call for candidates on the 2022 election ballot to sign our Pro-Life Pledge as we work together to build a culture that loves life in our state.”

Tara Shaver of Abortion Free New Mexico was featured today in this LA Times article highlighting how New Mexico is ground zero and how we need to support pregnant women in a post Roe America:

As Roe vs. Wade falls, New Mexico braces for a steep rise of abortion seekersExcerpt:

While abortion advocates consider the coalition a sort of underground railroad for women in crisis, those who oppose the work — like Tara Shaver, a local antiabortion missionary — say the system affirms Albuquerque’s reputation as the “late-term abortion capital of the world.”

“The term ‘abortion’ has lost all meaning, and this place brings it back,” Shaver said. “We don’t need to shuttle women into New Mexico. We need to meet these women where they are and provide enough support that they don’t need to choose between their child’s life and their own.”

Shaver organized a schedule with other local Christians to ensure that at least one person is praying during every operational hour of local abortion clinics.

    Remembrance Headstone at Local Cemetery

    By Bud Shaver,

Albuquerque, New Mexico- Every September Abortion Free New Mexico holds a memorial service for the National Day of Remembrance for Aborted Children at the only cemetery in the state where aborted children are buried. Over the last few years we have helped men and women place their aborted and miscarried babies names on remembrance headstones, in order to give them a place to grieve and heal from the loss of their beloved children.

Having an abortion weighs heavily on the hearts of many women. There is, however, healing through Christ as well as specific programs that can help prevent future abortions and also provide closure for both men and women impacted by abortion. Many healing programs include the naming of the aborted child.

Abortion Free New Mexico is acquiring another headstone for the Sandia Memory Gardens and is gathering names from the community to be placed on the remembrance stone.

    • If you or a loved one would benefit from this ministry and would like to have a baby’s name engraved on a remembrance stone please have them reach out to us by phone: 505-319-7825 or email: ShaverMissions@gmail.com before the end of June to submit their baby’s name.

We would also like to let our community know that there are numerous post abortion healing programs available and Abortion Free New Mexico highly recommends going through one of these programs to find healing from an abortion.

Here are some of those resources:

2022 Primary Election Analysis: Pro-Life Pledge Signers

    By Bud Shaver

Albuquerque, New Mexico- Now that the New Mexico primary election is over, here is Abortion Free New Mexico’s analysis of the candidates election results who signed our pro-life pledge and will  be on the November 8th general election ballot. These candidates have made a firm commitment to stand for life which has energized the pro-life community. All across the state the primary election results held on June 7, 2022 revealed that republicans are getting more engaged and many of the races in the upcoming general election on November 8, 2022 are winnable (when the republican primary voter turnout is compared with their democrat opponents).

Abortion Free New Mexico will continue to provide candidates an opportunity to sign our simple yet solid pro-life pledge to assure their constituents that they will defend life from conception to natural death.

“I pledge to defend life from conception to natural death. In making and keeping this pledge, I am committed to ending all abortion and all assisted suicide in the state of New Mexico.”

Tara Shaver of Abortion Free New Mexico issued the following statement,

“It is encouraging to have so many republican voters rise up to support pro-life candidates and to see that in several of these races pro-life pledge signers have outright leads or are in a head to head race with their democrat opponents.

The pro-abortion community wants nothing more than to expand abortion in New Mexico. Abortionists from across the nation have their sights set on our state for abortion tourism that will bring big profits to their businesses. We stand with everyday New Mexicans who don’t want our state to be known as the late term abortion capital of the nation and we will work to elect new leaders who stand strong for our children in the womb. Abortion on demand is not a New Mexican value and is not healthcare for women.”

Together we can make a difference and change the direction of New Mexico.

UNM Committed To Expand Abortion Services In New Mexico with Assistance from the Federal Government

    By Bud Shaver

Albuquerque, New Mexico- On Thursday May 26, 2022 transgender Assistant U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary “Rachel” Levine toured the UNM Center for Reproductive Health free-standing abortion facility and pledged that the Biden Administration was committed to expanding abortion services in New Mexico in light of the leaked Supreme Court memo revealing the potential overturning of Roe v. Wade.

This visit came just nine days after Tara Shaver of Abortion Free New Mexico appeared on the Infowars War Room with Owen Shroyer detailing how New Mexico is currently the late term abortion capital of our nation and is poised to be, “ground zero for abortion period” once Roe v. Wade is overturned.

All-American Women Give Life To Their Children from Abortion Free New Mexico on Vimeo.

Levine, the Biden Administration representative, spoke to KOB 4 news and revealed the federal government’s radical abortion expansion agenda:

“It is absolutely critical for New Mexico to continue to allow the full range of reproductive health services that women need, including abortion services,” Levine said.

UNM officials told KOB 4 they’re committed to taking on extra patients.

“If the decision follows the outline of the draft, then it’s going to severely impact women’s reproductive health rights and the ability to receive the full range of services in many states,” Levine said. “To be able to provide those services for women in New Mexico, and for many other states, they need to look to expand those services. We’ll work to support them.”

Tara Shaver of Abortion Free New Mexico issued the following statement,

“While many Americans oppose the use of federal funds to pay for abortions, and this is prohibited by the Hyde Amendment, it is egregious that the Biden administration has plans to work with the University of New Mexico to prop up the collapsing abortion industry and to utilize federal assistance to fund abortion tourism. These actions will only serve to further the culture of death in our state and the devaluing of human life in the womb.

Just as the federal government is desperately working to enable the University of New Mexico to expand abortion in our state, Abortion Free New Mexico is equally committed to meet the real needs of women in our community. Every day volunteers prayerfully position themselves outside the University of New Mexico abortion center and are prepared to let women know that there is hope and an abundance of pregnancy resources available to them.”

Abortion Free New Mexico is on the Front Lines

The pro-life community has an amazing opportunity to grow together as a powerful life saving force. Abortion Free New Mexico’s daily prayer campaign, No Sidewalk Without the Savior, is a practical way to bring the body of Christ onto the sidewalks in front of the UNM Center for Reproductive Health abortion facility.

Here are a few glimpses of how Abortion Free New Mexico’s prayerful presence is making a difference:

    • From a Tuesday Volunteer: “A gentleman pulled up to the stop sign and called out to us telling us that he was not going to abort his baby, that he was going to keep his baby. He then did the sign of the cross and seemed so full of joy.
    • From a Thursday Volunteer: “We spoke with a gentleman about the Roe vs. Wade decision that so many are thinking and talking about right now. He seemed like maybe he was from another country but was very open to learn about the implications of this ruling. I know we gave him food for thought.
    • Dinah Vargas and Tara Shaver encountered a woman who was leaving the nearby motel. In a divine appointment she disclosed that she is pregnant, living in hotels and in desperate need of housing. We were able to give her resources and are keeping in touch with her to make sure she gets all of the help and support she needs. Please pray for the moms with housing needs as it can be a very long drawn out process for them.

NEW DETAILS: Republican City Councilors Must Resign After Voting To Fund Planned Parenthood

    By Bud Shaver

Albuquerque, New Mexico- Abortion Free New Mexico has obtained additional information, including video and documentation, outlining how the Albuquerque City Council voted to give Planned Parenthood of New Mexico $250,000 for fiscal year 2023.

The vote in question was an amendment to the city’s operating budget. Each amendment requires a separate vote to be either approved or denied. The final outcome for Floor Amendment 13 below specifically states, that it “adds $250,000 for a Council directed sponsorship to Planned Parenthood of New Mexico” and was sponsored by Councilor Tammy Feilbelkorn. The  amendment also shows exactly who voted for it and who voted against it and two republicans voted for its passgage.

Vote on Amendment 13 Giving… by Bud Shaver

This amendment vote was taken separately from the overall budget vote. The budget vote passed by a 7-2 margin and the entire step by step process can be seen in the Albuquerque City Council twitter feed below.

Albuquerque City Councilors: Isaac Benton (D-District 2), Klarissa Peña (D-District 3), Brook Bassan (R-District 4), Pat Davis, (D-District 6), Tammy Fiebelkorn (D-District 7), and Trudy Jones (R-District 8) voted in support of Amendment 13 and demonstrates to their constituents where they stand on the issue. These Councilors voted to give funds to the nations largest abortion provider and the organization that is at the forefront of promoting depraved sex education to minors as well as recently began offering gender affirming hormone therapy. Planned Parenthood has a radical anti-family and anti-life agenda that targets women and children and should never receive one dime from taxpayers.

Abortion Free New Mexico would like to thank City Councilors Dan Lewis (R-District 5), Renée Grout (R-District 9) and Louie Sanchez (D-District 1) for voting against Amendment 13 in order to prevent the citizens of Albuquerque from forcible funding of the New Mexico abortion industry.

“Abortion Free New Mexico is renewing the call to republican City Councilors Brook Bassan and Trudy Jones to resign immediately and to issue a public apology to their constituents. There must be accountability for leaders that have made the citizens of Albuquerque involuntarily responsible for the atrocities occurring at Planned Parenthood of New Mexico. I’m sure that the constituents in City Council Districts 4 and 8 are not happy about this misuse of funds and should contact Bassan or Jones immediately to express disapproval and ask for their resignation,” stated Tara Shaver of Abortion Free New Mexico.

BREAKING: ABQ Votes to Give $250,000 to Planned Parenthood

    By Bud Shaver

Albuquerque, New Mexico- In an unprecedented move the Albuquerque City Council voted on Monday night, May 16th to amend the City of Albuquerque’s Operating Budget to include $250,000 to Planned Parenthood of New Mexico.

In a 6-3 vote, two republican councilors, Brook Bassan and Trudy Jones, sided with pro-abortion liberal democrats and the abortion industry to approve the funding which will now be sent to democrat Mayor Tim Keller for his signature.

Planned Parenthood as a 501c3 nonprofit organization already receives hundreds of millions of federal tax dollars each year, in spite of the fact that most Americans don’t want their tax dollars being used to prop up the abortion giant. Planned Parenthood aborted 354,871 children in the 2019-2020 fiscal year.

In a press release sent from Julian Moya, public information officer for the Albuquerque City Council, it is noted that the $250,000 to Planned Parenthood is a Council-directed sponsorship and was achieved by removing funds from other projects.”

Tara Shaver of Abortion Free New Mexico issued the following statement,

“The city of Albuquerque is already in crisis mode so it is completely absurd that the city council is stripping the funding of other city projects to prop up a failing abortion industry that is on the verge of collapsing nationwide with the potential overturning of Roe v. Wade. The city of Albuquerque is facing so many crisis situations that it is absurd to give $250,000 to the nation’s largest abortion provider. The taxpayers of Albuquerque should not be forced to foot the bill for Planned Parenthood’s non-essential abortion business. Abortion is not healthcare for women and women don’t need Planned Parenthood. The Republican city councilors, Brook Bassan and Trudy Jones, who voted to appropriate these funds should resign immediately and publicly apologize to their constituents for not properly representing our fiscal or social conservative values.”

Abortion Free New Mexico urges you to contact councilors Bassan and Jones to express your disapproval of their actions and to urge them to resign immediately.

  • UPDATE: New Mexico Facility And UNM Settled Wrongful Abortion Death Suit For Total Of $1.26 Million

UPDATE: New Mexico Facility And UNM Settled Wrongful Abortion Death Suit For Total Of $1.26 Million

Operation Rescue assisted Abortion Free New Mexico with the initial investigation and exposure of this tragedy.

By Cheryl Sullenger, (Republished with the permission of Operation Rescue)

Albuquerque, NM – Southwestern Women’s Options, a full-term abortion facility located in Albuquerque, New Mexico, has settled a major medical malpractice/wrongful death suit for $900,000.  According to the Albuquerque Journal, the settlement agreement was reached with the abortion facility last fall.

“Southwestern Women’s Option clinic, in settling its part of the lawsuit, sought a confidentiality provision to bar the parties from discussing the settlement. They are specifically not permitted to disparage the clinic or its doctors, according to the settlement agreement, which was filed as an exhibit in the lawsuit,” the newspaper reported.

Last month, the University of New Mexico agreed to pay the family of Keisha Atkins $365,000 to settle their part of the lawsuit that alleged UNM negligently referred Atkins to Southwestern Women’s Options where Atkins received a fatal multi-day abortion.  That settlement resulted in a full dismissal of the wrongful death suit in April.

That brings the total payout to Atkins’ mother, Tina Atkins, and her sister, Nichole, to over $1.26 million.

Southwestern Women’s Options’ owner, Curtis Boyd, reached the settlement during mediation in relation to allegations that “its subsequent treatment of Atkins fell below the standard of care and was negligent,” according to the Albuquerque Journal.

Atkins was 23 years old and six months pregnant when she sought an abortion at the UNM Center for Reproductive Health early 2017. That abortion facility determined that Atkins was too far along for a procedure there, so she was referred to Southwestern Women’s Options, which is one of the few abortion facilities in the U.S. that openly conducts abortions through all trimesters of pregnancy.

Once at SWO, Atkins underwent a multi-day late-term abortion. Before the process could be completed, Atkins was taken to UNM Medical Center where she died on February 4, 2017.

The Albuquerque Journal reported that Tina Atkins described during a deposition meeting her daughter in the hospital that fateful day when Keisha was still alive and talking.

Keisha was combative, and ‘a little bit delirious,’ Atkins said. But she could still talk. “The first thing that came out of her mouth was, ‘Mom, I’m going to die.’”

An autopsy was done at the University of New Mexico that listed Atkins’ cause of death as “Pulmonary Thromboembolism due to Pregnancy.”

Tara Shaver of Abortion Free New Mexico, who was initially tipped to Atkins’ death, was among the first to receive a copy of the autopsy report. Suspicious that the cause of death blamed Atkins pregnancy instead of the abortion, Shaver asked Operation Rescue to review the autopsy results.

Operation Rescue’s staff, which is experienced in analyzing autopsy reports, found that the listed cause of death was untrue, and suspected that UNM was attempting to cover up the liability of UNM and SWO in Atkins’ death.

Operation Rescue discovered that the autopsy report itself noted that Atkins developed an infection during the multi-day abortion that turned septic. As a complication of the septicemia, she developed a clotting disorder. It was a blood clot found in her lung caused by the abortion process that eventually took her life – not her pregnancy.

At the time, Curtis Boyd commented in the Albuquerque Journal attacking Operation Rescue’s discovery:

For those who oppose women’s reproductive justice to exploit this sad event by putting forward lies about abortion and the patient’s care is sickening. We trust the citizens of New Mexico to be compassionate and understanding of the needs of women and to see through this inflammatory attack on women’s reproductive rights and on us.”

In the end, the settlements vindicated Operation Rescue’s findings and proved that it was Boyd who was lying to cover up his clinic’s negligence in Atkins’ death.

We are glad that the Keisha Atkins wrongful death case is now closed and that her family will receive a large settlement. I know that no amount of money will compensate them for the death of their loved one, but I pray it will bring closure to the family,” said Operation Rescue President Troy Newman.

“These agreements confirm a fatal level of negligence that wrongly cost a woman her life. Southwestern Women’s Options and the UNM Center for Reproductive Choice should be closed by the state to protect the public from any continued negligence.  Given the leftist nature of the current state government, I know that seems unlikely, but it was also unlikely that anyone would ever discover the truth about Atkins’ death that UNM’s autopsy tried to cover up. Yet we did uncover that truth, which eventually led to this $1.26 million payout, so anything is possible,” Newman concluded.

The case was handled by Abortion on Trial. More information about this case is available on their website.

Tara Shaver, spokeswoman for Abortion Free New Mexico issued the following statement:

“Abortion Free New Mexico is thankful for the collaboration with Operation Rescue who assisted us with the initial investigation and exposure of this tragedy. Our hope is that the family of Keisha Atkins can find closure and peace and that her death will help serve to deter other women from choosing abortion. This $1.26 million dollar settlement should set a precedent that late-term abortions pose serious life threatening risks to women and that UNM should refrain from their participation in referring and providing abortion services. New Mexico tax dollars are funding these risky procedures through medicaid and now the tax payers are footing the bill for the abortion deaths of women.

    When will this insanity end?

Abortion Free New Mexico continues to be on the front lines ministering to vulnerable women targeted by the New Mexico abortion cartel, and also works tirelessly researching, investigating, and ultimately exposing the tragic consequences of an unregulated up to the day of birth abortion industry that is totally out of control in our state.”

BREAKING: Leaked Draft Ruling Reveals Supreme Court Voted To Overturn Roe v. Wade

    By Bud Shaver,

Breaking news as reported from Politico:

The Supreme Court has voted to strike down the landmark Roe v. Wade decision, according to an initial draft majority opinion written by Justice Samuel Alito circulated inside the court and obtained by Politico.

The draft opinion is a full-throated, unflinching repudiation of the 1973 decision which guaranteed federal constitutional protections of abortion rights and a subsequent 1992 decision – Planned Parenthood v. Casey – that largely maintained the right. “Roe was egregiously wrong from the start,” Alito writes.

‘We hold that Roe and Casey must be overruled,’ he writes in the document, labeled as the ‘Opinion of the Court.’ ‘It is time to heed the Constitution and return the issue of abortion to the people’s elected representatives.’

The immediate impact of the ruling as drafted in February would be to end a half-century guarantee of federal constitutional protection of abortion rights and allow each state to decide whether to restrict or ban abortion. It’s unclear if there have been subsequent changes to the draft.”

    Politico noted,

No draft decision in the modern history of the court has been disclosed publicly while a case was still pending.”

Tara Shaver, spokeswoman for Abortion Free New Mexico issued the following statement,

If this is the end of Roe v. Wade in America, it will open the door for more states to pass life saving legislation and outlaw abortion outright. This decision will save countless lives and will give the states the ability to decide for themselves which laws can best protect women and their pre-born children. However, at the local level this is an even more urgent call to action in New Mexico, as abortion on demand will remain the status quo. We must work harder than ever from now until November to oust the democrats that have hijacked New Mexico with their radical pro-death agenda and have kept our state in bondage for over 90 years. Unless Republicans are elected across the state, late-term abortion through all nine months will continue unabated. In fact, New Mexico will become an even more targeted destination for abortion tourism.

If you are not currently involved in supporting candidates by volunteering or giving financially, time is of the essence. We must elect pro-life candidates in order for our state to be in a position to pass laws that will protect innocent life in the womb.”

  • BREAKING: UNM Must Pay Settlement After Woman is Killed in Botched 6-Month Abortion

BREAKING: UNM Must Pay Settlement After Woman is Killed in Botched 6-Month Abortion

By Micaiah Bilger, (This article originally appeared on LifeNews.com)

Albuquerque, New Mexico- Lawyers for the late Keisha Atkins, who died along with her unborn baby after a late-term abortion in New Mexico, achieved a victory this spring when the University of New Mexico agreed to pay a settlement in the case.

The pro-life organization Abortion on Trial said the university paid Atkins’ estate $365,000 after the UNM hospital was accused of negligently referring her to a late-term abortion facility that led to her death.

UNM should have never referred Keisha to Curtis Boyd’s outpatient abortion facility, Southwestern Women’s Options,” said Jamie Jeffries, executive director at Abortion On Trial. “It is unacceptable medical care to perform an induction abortion outside of a hospital. Practitioners everywhere should be aware that referring women to private abortion clinics can result in legal action and subsequent liability.”

In 2017, Atkins, 23, died shortly after her unborn baby was aborted at Southwestern Women’s Options in Albuquerque; she was six months pregnant. Her lawyers said she died of sepsis after the abortion facility gave her “inconsistent and dangerously addictive drugs for days” and delayed transporting her to a hospital.

Abortionists Carmen Landau, Curtis Boyd and Shannon Carr also were sued for negligence in Atkins’ death.

Click here to sign up for pro-life news alerts from LifeNews.com

Jeffries said Atkins’ elective, late-term abortion was paid for by New Mexico taxpayers through Medicaid, and the settlement also will be paid for by taxpayers because the University of New Mexico is a public institution.

Attorney Mike Seibel with Abortion on Trial said they donated part of their attorneys’ fees from the settlement to help other mothers and babies in need.

Of the attorneys’ fees generated from the UNM $365000 settlement, I donated a good amount to pregnancy centers, sidewalk advocates, pro-life candidates and pro-life causes,” Seibel told the Pinon Post. “The money man intended to use for evil God turned to good. It’s time to win this battle.”

The case has prompted calls for state lawmakers to enact new safety regulations for abortion facilities. New Mexico has almost no regulations or restrictions on abortion. It does not require women to be informed of abortion risks or alternatives before an abortion, and it allows unborn babies to be aborted for any reason up to birth.

“The New Mexico Legislature has chosen many times to ignore the safety of the mother during a late term abortion,” state Rep. Rebecca Dow, R-Grant, said in a statement provided to LifeNews. “While I believe there are many alternatives to abortion, the simple truth is that a woman who opts to receive an abortion should receive the same information of the risks of the procedure that is afforded in every other medical environment.”

Atkins’ mother, Tina, and sister, Nicole, filed the wrongful death lawsuit on her behalf.

According to KOB News 4, Atkins went to the abortion facility Feb. 1, 2017, where her unborn baby was aborted. She was about six months pregnant.

Two days later, according to the lawsuit, she went back to the abortion facility complaining of breathing trouble and a high fever. After 10 hours, the abortion facility called for an ambulance to take Atkins to the hospital, and she died there a short time later, according to the lawsuit.

The lawsuit accused the University of New Mexico Hospital and Southwestern Women’s Options of medical malpractice, wrongful death and civil conspiracy in the lawsuit.

The late-term abortion facility also allegedly violated the New Mexico Unfair Trade Practices Act by telling Atkins not to go to the emergency room but to contact the abortion facility if she experienced a medical emergency.

Operation Rescue and Abortion Free New Mexico also suspected a cover-up. The groups obtained Atkins’ autopsy report along with a CAD printout of a 911 call from the abortion facility on the date of Atkins’ death. The groups said both documents raised serious questions about the mishandling of Atkins’ medical emergency, and aroused suspicions of an attempted cover-up involving the hospital, with which lead abortionist Curtis Boyd is connected.

REPORT: New Mexico Leads The Nation With The Highest Percentage Of Late Term Abortions

The Republican Party of New Mexico shared our report across all social media platforms!

According to the most recent data, published in 2019 by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), New Mexico unfortunately leads the nation with the highest percentage of late-term abortions. The CDC report, “Abortion Surveillance — United States, 2019” published on November 26, 2021 confirms what Abortion Free New Mexico has been sounding the alarm on for many years…

Great turnout to Abortion Free New Mexico’s screening of the Pro-Life Movie to Movement movie, Voiceless. • Guest Article- UNM: From Heartbreak to Hope

Guest Article- UNM: From Heartbreak to Hope

    By Lloyd Powell,

Albuquerque, New Mexico- Abortions are nothing new in the state of New Mexico. Most notably, Planned Parenthood has been one of front runners. The second lesser known option is Southwestern Women’s Options. Both of these clinics perform abortions not just for New Mexico but other states such as Texas and California. Despite the fact that these clinics are regularly opposed by Pro-Life organizations, the clinics still run effectively every day to end pregnancies through pill and surgical procedures.

Most surprising in support of abortions comes from a name very familiar with New Mexico residents and students. The University of New Mexico operates their own free standing abortion center. The clinic named “UNM Center for Reproductive Health,” offers family planning and birth control options including late term surgical abortions through 24 weeks or 6 months of pregnancy. From their own web site they proudly declare that they are, “UNM Medical Group Clinic of the Year 2017, 2019, 2020.” It might be surprising to note that a clinic who has won so many awards for giving life and improving life would also offer services to end lives.

On the affirmative side in preserving the lives of unborn babies are various Pro-Life organizations. These groups have offered alternatives to abortion by providing mobile ultrasound technology to show parents their unborn child, counseling, and free resources to help undecided parents make the best decision. Further, medical technology can now demonstrate evidence of active life of the unborn with heart beat and other substantiation that this is a baby, not a mere pile of random cells. In many cases, providing these resources and visible proof has resulted in women continuing their pregnancy for the full nine months and rejecting abortion, the death alternative.

If you have been following some of the recent news regarding increased Pro-Life activity, you cannot avoid being drawn to realize the growing change in attitude among the population of the United States against unregulated abortion clinics and especially late terms abortions. In some states the legislatures have moved to curtail abortions. Further, in some of the local elections, politicians are pledging their support for a Pro-Life stance in their campaigns.

In a recent move, the Pro-Life organization “Abortion Free New Mexico” has organized people from over a dozen churches from a wide variety of Christian groups and denominations to begin praying on the public sidewalk each day in April, May and June at the UNM abortion clinic near the airport when it is open. Some of the topics of prayer include praying for local and national laws to change, to help the families understand there are resources available to help with the baby if they are permitted to live, and to help abortion practitioners to turn from the act of abortion.

Anyone who wants to participate in Pro-Life prayer can join Abortion Free New Mexico at the UNM Center for Reproductive Health Clinic at 2301 Yale Blvd SE. in Albuquerque daily in April, May and June. You can obtain more information by visiting AbortionFreeNM.com.

    • Where: Meet at the parking lot of Isleta Church of Christ: Iglesia De Cristo located at 2424 Miles Rd SE, Albuquerque, NM 87106.
    • Event Details: 10AM for prayer, special speakers and a short (0.5 mile) prayer walk to the UNM Center For Reproductive Health abortion facility concluding at 11AM.

In Matthew 18:20 Jesus tells us that, “For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.” Will you join us on the sidewalk at one of the darkest places in Albuquerque?

“No Sidewalk Without the Savior” is an effort to make sure that two people are prayerfully present outside of the UNM Center for Reproductive Health abortion facility every hour that they are open, because where two or three gather in the name of Jesus, He is present in their midst. When the body of Christ is present and availible,  God is able to open hearts and minds to the reality of what is happening in our community and to also bring conviction to the women seeking abortions there.

Abortion Free New Mexico is asking the pro-life community to come together and volunteer for just a one-hour weekly or monthly commitment at a location where the hope of Christ is so desperately needed. Will you join us to make sure that Jesus Christ is brought the sidewalk at one of Albuquerque’s darkest places?

Can YOU spare one hour and bring a friend or family member out to simply pray for the moms considering abortion and the precious babies in their wombs?

“Over the years we have had countless women come and tell us that because we were present, they chose life. Your presence is sometimes the sign that these women are looking for when they go for an abortion. You are essential and your prayers are necessary to make our city and state Abortion Free,” stated Tara Shaver of Abortion Free New Mexico

  • REPORT: New Mexico Leads The Nation With The Highest Percentage of Late Term Abortions

REPORT: New Mexico Leads The Nation With The Highest Percentage of Late Term Abortions

    By Bud Shaver

Albuquerque, New Mexico- According to the most recent data, published in 2019 by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), New Mexico unfortunately leads the nation with the highest percentage of late-term abortions. In other words, late-term abortions represent 11.6% of all abortions performed in New Mexico. TABLE 10 of the CDC Abortion Surveillance — United States, 2019 report shows that New Mexico performed 406 late-term abortions (over 21 weeks gestation) which was 11.6% of the total number of abortions performed in the state (3,485) that year. By comparison, of the 43 states that met the CDC’s reporting requirements, (Nine states, California, District of Columbia, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York State, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin either did not report, did not report by gestational age, or did not meet reporting standards) Florida performed the most abortions according to TABLE 10 with 71,914 in 2019, however, 217 or 0.3% of the total number of abortions performed in Florida were over 21 weeks gestation.

Since 2010, Abortion Free New Mexico leaders Bud and Tara Shaver have reported (and coined the designation) that Albuquerque, New Mexico is the, “late-term abortion capital of the country” based on the groundbreaking research and undercover investigations that they have conducted. Virtually every major news source in the country has reported on this fact.

The New York Times was one of the earliest to report that Albuquerque, New Mexico is known as the “late-term abortion capital of the country” in 2013:

Albuquerque has become the latest flash point in the abortion wars, with Operation Rescue, the militant group based in Kansas, calling it the “late-term abortion capital of the country.” This is because a private clinic, Southwestern Women’s Options, is one of only a few nationwide that offers abortions after the sixth month of pregnancy.

The drive for a city referendum has been led here by a couple who trained with Operation Rescue in Kansas and moved here three years ago as anti-abortion “missionaries.”

“We felt called to come and serve in Albuquerque,” said Tara Shaver, 29. She and her husband, Bud, moved here largely to find a way to shut down Southwestern Women’s Options, she said.

The CDC report Abortion Surveillance — United States, 2019 published on November 26, 2021 confirms what Abortion Free New Mexico has been sounding the alarm on for many years.

It is important to note that while New Mexico performed the second highest number (406) of late-term abortions in 2019 behind New York City (1,096) only 2.2 percent of the total number of abortions performed (49,784) in New York City were late-term abortions. Additionally, according to a survey conducted by Abortion Free New Mexico, in conjunction with this report, no abortion clinic in the entire state of New York will perform an abortion beyond 24 weeks gestation. New Mexico on the other hand will perform full-term abortions up to the day of birth. In fact, Abortion Free New Mexico conducted an undercover investigation in 2017 that revealed that late-term abortionists at Southwestern Women’s Options located in Albuquerque, New Mexico will perform a full-term abortion at 37 weeks of pregnancy.

Undercover At 37 Weeks- Pressure to Abort! from Abortion Free New Mexico on Vimeo.

The designation that Albuquerque, New Mexico is the “late-term abortion capital of the country” takes into consideration not only the high number of late-term abortions performed after 20-21 weeks gestation, but also the fact that New Mexico has become the hub for abortion tourism where women travel to New Mexico for full-term abortions well into the third trimester because their state has either:

    1. Enacted common sense legislation prohibiting late-term abortions, or
    2. As is the case with the handful of radically pro-abortion states, where there aren’t necessarily laws restricting abortions, abortionists regulate themselves by refusing to perform abortions beyond a certain point.

For example, while New York performs abortions over 21 weeks gestation, women travel from New York to New Mexico to obtain third trimester abortions. In fact, in 2013 Abortion Free New Mexico leaders, with the help of Operation Rescue brought national attention to the fact that a woman was severely injured after traveling from New York to obtain an abortion at 35 weeks gestation at Southwestern Women’s Options, located in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Southwestern Women’s Southwestern Women’s Options, owned and operated by Curtis Boyd who specializes in third trimester abortions, is drawing women from all across the nation, and even the world, for the latest possible full-term abortions. Disturbingly, Albuquerque based late-term abortionist, Curtis Boyd, takes great pride in this. A fact that he openly admitted when asked in a 2017 interview,

So when he’s asked about what he thinks when he hears Albuquerque described as “the late-term abortion capital of the nation”—a term the Shavers take credit for coining—Boyd responds wryly.

“A great sense of pride,” he says.

It is necessary to note that both Maryland and Colorado are also destinations for third-trimester abortions, however Maryland did not meet the CDC reporting requirements and according to the CDC data, Colorado performed 173 late-term abortions (1.3 percent of the total abortion rate) in 2019 compared to 406 late-term abortions performed in New Mexico.

Late-term abortions are performed over a 3-4 day period. It includes an injection into the mother’s womb on the first day which causes a fetal heart attack. Over the course of the next few days, the cervix is artificially dilated so that the mother can be induced to deliver her stillborn child. This is called the induction method and occurs at an out patient clinic setting or in a local hotel. Late-term abortions are never performed when the mother’s life is at risk, the procedure alone takes too much time to benefit a woman who is in a dire situation. In fact, this abortion method has many risks and is responsible for the death of at least one local New Mexico woman, Keisha Atkins in 2017. A late-term abortion in New Mexico can cost as much as $17,000.

The University of New Mexico (UNM) also performs late-term abortions up to 24 weeks of pregnancy at their free standing abortion facility in Albuquerque, NM. This location in particular is the the focus of Abortion Free New Mexico’s “No Sidewalk Without the Savior” prayer campaign that is launching on April 1, 2022. For more information and to sign up click here.

Tara Shaver of Abortion Free New Mexico issued the following statement,

“New Mexico currently has zero laws protecting pregnant women and their unborn babies from dangerous and barbaric late-term abortions. It is the absence of laws and the unwillingness of our legislators to come to the table to seek the wellbeing of both mother and child that has made us an abortion magnet, even in the latest stages of pregnancy. Abortion Free New Mexico is working many angles to build a culture that protects life, because every life is unique, precious and unrepeatable.”

    Act Now for Judicial Candidates

    Dear Pro-Life Friend,

As you may already know, 2022 is a huge election year, as even many democrats are fed up with MLG and want change. We are expecting to turn New Mexico RED and expect to elect a full republican ticket for the State of New Mexico. We have four of the five same outstanding candidates running for state judicial positions who ran in 2020.

We all know how important the Courts are. Judges’ rulings affect everything from our religious liberties to our gun rights to criminals being let back out on the streets. Judges’ rulings are something businesses, professionals and doctors consider when deciding whether to stay in or move to New Mexico. Our judicial candidates will stand strong to guard the Constitution and enforce the law not rewrite the law.

For your information, judicial candidates are not permitted to use personal funds in their campaigns, they cannot ask for donations of any amount, nor can they accept contributions from large interest organizations. Our four state judicial candidates have elected to access public election funds, but in order to do this we must collect 1353 $5.00 contributions per candidate. Additionally, all four of our state judicial candidates are running for separate positions, not against each other, so each of them can win their race and we are working diligently every day to be sure that happens.

    Contributors can be ANY registered voter, not just republicans, but it is imperative that they print their name and address on the form as registered with the secretary of state. As previously mentioned, the issues that are likely to come before the NM Court of Appeals and the NM Supreme Court affect ALL New Mexicans;

Therefore, we must make the contribution deadline of March 10, 2022, or our republican candidates will not have the resources to fight the democrat’s deceitful ads and negative publicity. With the public election funds, we intend to run commercials with real court cases and rulings that have occurred in our state which the public has no idea about because the media ONLY reports the stories that support their narratives, which either undermines the truth or the ruling is never reported in the first place. One of several examples includes the ruling just last week by the NM Supreme Court where a serial rapist was freed because a justice did not like how a former judge conducted the case before. I hope you will agree that the time has come to elect more republican judges to the NM Court of Appeals and Nm Supreme Court.

Your qualifying contributions to all four of our state judicial candidates is greatly appreciated. Please feel free to collect contributions and accompanying forms from family members and friends as we need as many contributions as possible to qualify for the public financing as the SOS will try I am sure, to disqualify as many as she can.

Please mail all forms with accompanying contributions to THIS WEEK to campaign treasurer, Clara Cates at 5150-A San Francisco, NE Albuquerque, NM 87109 Please note, 4 separate checks or money orders for $5.00 must be made to public election fund with name of candidate on the memo line or you can send cash. We are not set up to accept electronic transfers. The deadline again for us to reach our goal is March 10th, 2022.

UPDATE: More Statewide 2022 Candidates Sign Pro-Life Pledge

    By Bud Shaver,

Albuquerque, New Mexico- This weekend the Republican Party of New Mexico will hold its pre-primary convention to select the candidates that will be on the June primary election ballot. Abortion Free New Mexico leaders are delegates and will be present to cast votes representing Bernalillo County.

Abortion Free New Mexico is pleased to release its most up to date list of candidates who have signed a simple yet solid pro-life pledge. This pledge serves as a tangible declaration that defending life is a priority to each candidate that signs it. It is an assurance for the voter to know where each candidate stands.

Candidates who sign Abortion Free New Mexico’s pro-life pledge are not receiving an official endorsement. Abortion Free New Mexico does not endorse candidates, we simply let you know who stands for life and entrust you, the voter, with the responsibility to see where the candidates stand on other important issues. Life, however, is the preeminent issue when choosing a candidate to vote for because without life, nothing else matters.

Abortion Free New Mexico provides the candidates an opportunity to solidify their pro-life position by signing the pro-life pledge but the voters, their constituents, ultimately have to make the final decision who best represents them. Abortion Free New Mexico would love for every candidate to sign a pro-life pledge regardless of party affiliation. Please contact the candidates and see where they stand on other issues that are important to you. Vote your values and refuse to be silenced.

Abortion Free New Mexico’s Pro-Life Pledge states:

I pledge to defend life from conception to natural death. In making and keeping this pledge, I am committed to ending all abortion and all assisted suicide in the state of New Mexico.”

2022 Candidates who have signed Abortion Free New Mexico’s Pro-Life Pledge:

Tara Shaver spokeswoman for Abortion Free New Mexico issued the following statement,

We have worked hard over the years to encourage all of the candidates to boldly stand for life. We are thankful that so many candidates in virtually every elected office are not shying away from boldly declaring their pro-life position. “No Sidewalk Without the Savior” and Pro-Life Movie Screening

    By Bud Shaver

Albuquerque, New Mexico- “No Sidewalk Without the Savior,” is a new ministry effort of Abortion Free New Mexico. We believe in the power of prayer to change hearts and minds, as we reflect the love of Jesus by extending grace and truth, at our city’s darkest and most hopeless places, abortion facilities. When two or more of God’s people gather for prayer, Our Savior is present and is able to light up the darkness and bring hope. (Matthew 18:20)

The namesake of this initiative is in honor of our late friend and fellow pro-life abolitionist, Kortney Blythe Gordon. Kortney was the leader of our team while we served with the Survivors of the Abortion Holocaust, where Tara and I began our pro-life journey, and her passion for pro-life activism was contagious. Kortney loved the Lord, His children and couldn’t wait to become a mom herself. Her dream came true when she married and conceived her daughter, Sophy (named in honor of Sophie Scholl). Tragically, she and Sophy went to be with the Lord after being hit by a drunk driver, while pregnant. Kortney told us that if she had her own sidewalk ministry, “No Sidewalk Without the Savior” is what she would call it. This has stuck with us all of these years and we are proud to honor her memory in this very special way.

“No Sidewalk Without the Savior” is being organized as a month to month prayer initiative where our goal is to have two people praying every hour that the UNM Center for Reproductive Health is open. Abortion Free New Mexico is utilizing day coordinators to recruit prayer volunteers, and there is still a great need for coordinators as the goal is to launch this prayerful presence on April 1, 2022.

We are committed to continue our work to make New Mexico Abortion Free, as we increase our efforts in Albuquerque, by establishing a stronger pro-life presence in our city.

Albuquerque is home to three surgical abortion facilities, Planned Parenthood, Southwestern Women’s Options and the University of New Mexico (UNM). Over the past decade we have worked to expose the fact that Southwestern Women’s Options is performing late-term abortions through all nine months of pregnancy. In fact, New Mexico has the national notorious reputation as, “The Late-Term Abortion Capital of the Country,” a designation we coined. As a result, there is a faithful sidewalk advocacy presence there, and thankfully CareNet brings their mobile ultrasound unit there weekly to help reach abortion minded women. Planned Parenthood in known as the nation’s largest abortion provider and is home to 40 Days For Life twice a year. In addition, the Catholic pro-life organization, Women’s Pregnancy Options (formerly known as Project Defending Life) is located next door and has a faithful sidewalk advocacy presence throughout the rest of the year.

However, the University of New Mexico (UNM) has been flying under the radar with a minimal pro-life advocacy presence (only our Faith To Action Friday presence once a month). Unbeknownst to many, the University of New Mexico runs its own free standing abortion facility, UNM Center For Reproductive Health, that performs late-term abortions up to 24 weeks of pregnancy, that’s 6 months! As a tax funded institution, UNM has an endless supply of our tax dollars to fund their radical abortion agenda. In fact, according to our research, UNM is the heart of the abortion cartel here in New Mexico and in a shocking admission, openly celebrates abortion!

“This year Abortion Free New Mexico wants to organize a constant prayerful presence starting with the UNM Center for Reproductive Health abortion facility for every hour that they are open. This is one of the darkest places in our city, but it can become a beacon of hope as Christians rise up to be a voice for the voiceless and their mothers. Will you partner with us in 2022 to make this a reality?” stated Tara Shaver of Abortion Free New Mexico.

Faith To Action Friday Postponed, Join Our Team Meeting 2/15

    By Bud Shaver

Albuquerque, New Mexico- Faith To Action Friday has been postponed this month (2/4/22) due to extreme weather and unsafe driving conditions from New Mexico’s first winter storm of 2022. Faith To Action Friday will resume next month on March 4th. In the meantime prayerfully consider joining our team. Abortion Free New Mexico will be hosting our next team meeting on February 15, 2022.

    • Click HERE or the button below to fill out our online survey. After you do we will notify you of the event location and more details.

This year, in 2022, Abortion Free New Mexico wants to organize a constant prayerful presence starting with the UNM Center for Reproductive Health abortion facility for every hour that they are open. This is one of the darkest places in our city but it can become a beacon of hope as Christians rise up to be a voice for the voiceless and their mothers.

We will not only need daily prayer volunteers but we also need day coordinators that will help us recruit people from their own churches or network of influence. The pro-life community has a crucial opportunity to meet minded women where they are and that is at the local abortion facilities.

“According to New Mexico vital statistics the abortion rate among New Mexico residents is on the decline. This affirms that as our efforts to expose the horrors of the abortion industry and reach out to women in crisis, New Mexico women are rejecting abortion and choosing life. That being said, as more New Mexico women are rejecting abortion, Albuquerque is GROUND ZERO for late-term abortion and is home to three surgical abortion facilities in New Mexico. One of which is run by the University of New Mexico and funded by our tax dollars,” stated Tara Shaver of Abortion Free New Mexico.

Other opportunities for involvement include helping with event coordination, fundraising and since this is an election year there is much to do to help our pro-life candidates and more.

If you are looking to get more involved in 2022 we’d like to ask you to fill out our get involved form and tell us where you’d like to serve.

We are committed to continue our work to make New Mexico Abortion Free, as we increase our efforts in Albuquerque by establishing a stronger pro-life presence in our city.

This just the beginning of making 2022 our best year yet and in making sure that every woman has the resources she needs to make a decision for life. We are stronger together.

We know that the moms and babies that we fight so hard for are worthy of protection because every life is God’s masterpiece.

Let’s work together to build a culture of life in New Mexico. With you on our team we will be able to do so much more in our city to help moms, save babies, educate the community and be a shining light in the darkness.

When we moved to New Mexico in 2010 there were 8 abortion facilities. Today 6 remain, but one will be closing within a matter of months, Lord willing. After years of unified collaboration and a concentrated faithful pro-life presence along with savvy investigative work, accountability and high pressure public exposure, Franz Theard’s abortion days are numbered in Santa Teresa, New Mexico.

Our friends in the borderland at the Southwest Coalition for Life announced at the end of last year that Franz Theard’s current landlord does not plan to renew his current lease. This means that he will likely be forced to close his killing business and retire.

This will be an amazing victory, and will prove that hard work and perseverance pays off in the battle for life in New Mexico. In fact, the latest abortion numbers from New Mexico vital statistics reveals a steady decrease in abortions among New Mexico residents!

“According to New Mexico vital statistics the abortion rate among New Mexico residents is on the decline. • Abortion Free New Mexico Whistleblower Investigations Named #1 Top Pro-Life Reports of 2021

Abortion Free New Mexico Whistleblower Investigations Named #1 Top Pro-Life Reports of 2021

    By Bud Shaver,

Albuquerque, New Mexico– Our whistleblower investigations at Abortion Free New Mexico, exposing adverse vaccine related pregnancy complications, was named Operation Rescue’s #1 top Pro-Life Reports of 2021!

Thank you Operation Rescue for helping to expose the truth.

“Abortion Free New Mexico was one of the first national groups to sound the alarm regarding the experimental COVID-19 injections and the risks posed to pregnant women and their babies. It is now common knowledge that there are major concerns about these shots, except among those who are willfully turning a blind eye to what is clearly unfolding before us,” stated Tara Shaver, spokeswoman for Abortion Free New Mexico.

When Abortion Free New Mexico released our initial report on March 2, 2021 there were 35 adverse pregnancy outcomes (preterm birth, miscarriage, spontaneous abortion) reported to the Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System, VAERS after receiving the COVID-19 shot. As of December 17, 2021 that number has risen to 3,365! This is over 9,500% increase!

Another concern is the troubling occurrence of ectopic pregnancies post COVID-19 injection which has increased 60 times the national average in the last year. Over the course of the last 30 years there was about one ectopic pregnancy per year reported to VAERS after all other vaccines. An ectopic pregnancy occurs when a newly formed human being grows outside of the uterus and in most cases implants in the fallopian tube. This can lead to excessive bleeding and even death if not caught early enough. An increase of ovarian cancer, infertility concerns and more are causing alarm bells to go off all around the world.

It is important to note that the data compiled via the Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS) website, is obtained through a voluntary reporting system run by the United States HHS, and is co-managed by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The VAERS website clearly states that,

“Underreporting’ is one of the main limitations of passive surveillance systems, including VAERS. The term, underreporting refers to the fact that VAERS receives reports for only a small fraction of actual adverse events.”

So this just the tip of the iceberg, the actual number of adverse events could be far, far greater!

Government Safety Studies Have Not Even Been Completed!

There are currently 13 required safety studies underway by the FDA, many of which will not be completed until 2022-2026, which confirms our assertion that those who take these shots, are in fact, the experiment! Several of these yet to be completed studies pertain to the documented incidences of pericarditis and myocarditis as well as the injections impact on minor children, even those under 6 months old. One of these studies #7 on page 29 shows that they are trying to determine the pregnancy and infant outcomes post vaccination, but the final safety studies won’t be completed until June 2025!

    7.  Study C4591022, entitled “Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 Vaccine Exposure during Pregnancy: A Non-Interventional Post-Approval Safety Study of Pregnancy and Infant Outcomes in the Organization of Teratology Information Specialists (OTIS)/Mother To Baby Pregnancy Registry”

Final Protocol Submission: July 1, 2021 Study Completion: June 1, 2025
Final Report Submission: December 1, 2025

If these experimental vaccines haven’t even been proven to be safe yet, why the push for vaccine compliance and even mandates? Please share this information with others and be a voice of reason and truth about the dangers of these shots.

    CALL TO ACTION

“How will the novel COVID vaccine rollout affect the future of human health? Help us find out.

This study–the people’s study—will investigate: the Microbiome And Vaccine (Vx) Effect/Response Including gut-brain-CrosstalK, important parameters that have not been formally investigated, but anecdotally appear to be affected by novel COVID vaccines.

We have gathered a group of world-renowned scientists and physicians to perform this critically needed study to identify possible systemic effects of the mRNA (Pfizer and Moderna) and adenovirus vector (Johnson & Johnson) vaccines in volunteers.”

Abortion Free New Mexico’s whistleblower is asking for both monetary and prayer support for a groundbreaking research project that will be conducted by the Microbiome Foundation. This research is vital to know the effects of these experimental injections on what is known as the human body’s second brain, the microbiome. This is a powerful way that we can fight back by supporting efforts that will produce real results showing the truth about these experimental shots.

Abortion Free New Mexico’s whistleblower issued the following statement,

“The MAVxERICK Study is an unbiased assessment of the COVID-19 vaccine effects on the body. We are not employed by any of the vaccine manufacturers. Donations are tax deductible and greatly appreciated.

Free Speech Is Under Attack In Albuquerque

    By Bud Shaver

Albuquerque, New Mexico- The slippery slope infringing on free speech reached a new low in Albuquerque. The latest attack on free speech was delivered on December 3, 2021 when the city Ethics Committee ruled unanimously to reprimand the “Stop The Stadium” leaders for failure to file as a Measure Finance Committee (MFC). The grassroots “Stop The Stadium” efforts soundly defeated the city’s $50 million soccer stadium tax bond hike at the polls on November 2, 2021.

In a complaint filed by Joaquin Baca, Board Director of MRGCD, Baca referenced a past ruling by the Ethics Committee where they reprimanded us and fined us $1,000.00 back in 2015.

Baca stated in his complaint that,

”Prior decisions by the Board on the same issue will generally be followed and the parties are urged to refer to prior rulings on identical or similar issues. The Board of Ethics heard nearly the same set of facts in Alex Curtas vs. Tara Shaver, Henry “Bud” Shaver, [Fr.] Stephen Imbarrato, and [Protest] ABQ (BOE Case No. 01-2015). The Board found Bud Shaver and Tara Shaver qualified as a Measure Finance Committee, and failed to comply with requirements imposed on Measure Finance Committees under both the City Charter and the Board Rules.”

In their defense, the “Stop The Stadium” group’s attorney argued that,

“Any sanction awarded against her [Stop the Stadium] violates the U.S. Constitution, the First Amendment, the Equal Protection Clause, and the Due Process Clause, and the corresponding provisions of the New Mexico Constitution.”

On December 3, 2021, the Board of Ethics voted unanimously to reprimand the “Stop The Stadium” leaders but chose not to punish them with a fine.

According to an article that covered this ruling,

“It is unclear exactly why the board chose not to fine Hampton, but her attorney Nicholas Rimmer had argued that any such punishment would violate her rights to free speech under the state and federal constitutions.”

The ethics board apparently agreed with that argument.

However though, in our “similar or identical issue” the Board of Ethics DIDN’T think that a punishment would violate our free speech rights in 2015 when they fined us $1,000.00! It begs the question, “Why the Board of Ethics chose to punish us with a fine but not the “Stop The Stadium” leaders?

Tara Shaver, spokeswoman for Abortion Free New Mexico issued the following statement,

”In this latest infringement upon free speech, the Board of Ethics ruled that you can’t oppose or support candidates or political issues if you spend more than $250.00 to do so. This unconstitutional Measure Finance Committee (MFC) mandate for free speech activity imposed by the city upon the general public forces heavy handed compliance to arbitrary rules which discourages political speech and political involvement. There are many reasons why people may not want to jump through the City’s (MFC) hoops. We formed a MFC back in 2013 when we worked to get a 20 week late-term abortion ban on the Albuquerque city ballot. During that campaign we jumped through all the city’s hoops which actually made us a target for violence!”

IN FACT, KRQE NEWS 13 REPORTED AT THE TIME:

When they [Albuquerque Police Department] discovered the sign shop had been hired to print anti-abortion campaign posters, they called in the feds. The director of the ABQ Voters for Late Term Abortion Ban says the time and place of the explosion is no coincidence. [Tara Shaver] says it’s possible that someone thought the address printed on all their signs was their campaign headquarters. “It’s really scary to think people will go to such lengths, especially when we’re following the process of the City Charter and doing everything legally and lawfully.”
