SANTA FE, NEW MEXICO — Abortion Free New Mexico is sounding the alarm following the reopening of a Planned Parenthood facility in Santa Fe offering chemical abortions up to 11 weeks of pregnancy, marking the second Planned Parenthood facility to reopen in New Mexico in recent weeks.
The expansion comes as Planned Parenthood affiliates across the country continue facing financial strain, clinic closures, and federal funding cuts. Reports published over recent years indicate Planned Parenthood facilities nationwide have closed or reduced services following Medicaid funding restrictions and broader federal defunding efforts.
Despite those national struggles, New Mexico political leaders have continued supporting abortion expansion efforts with taxpayer resources. In 2022, the Albuquerque City Council voted to allocate $250,000 to Planned Parenthood initiatives, signaling local government support for expanding abortion access in New Mexico. Abortion Free New Mexico previously documented the Albuquerque City Council funding decision in a public report.More recently, New Mexico lawmakers have advanced taxpayer funding intended to expand abortion access and infrastructure statewide, including publicly funded abortion projects currently under development in Northern and Southern New Mexico.
“At a time when Planned Parenthood facilities across the nation are shutting down under financial pressure, New Mexico politicians continue investing taxpayer resources into expanding the abortion industry here,” said Tara Shaver of Abortion Free New Mexico.
The reopening of the Santa Fe Planned Parenthood facility further expands what Abortion Free New Mexico describes as a rapidly growing abortion landscape throughout the state.
According to Abortion Free New Mexico’s latest analysis, New Mexico now has:
15 freestanding abortion facilities statewide (incudes the two under development)
7 abortion facilities concentrated in Albuquerque alone
2 taxpayer-funded abortion projects under development in Northern and Southern New Mexico
Additional mail-order abortion pill access is offered remotely through the satanic temple
Chemical abortions now account for approximately 63% of abortions both in New Mexico and nationally, reflecting a dramatic shift toward mail-order abortion pills and remote abortion distribution models.
Abortion Free New Mexico warns that the rapid expansion of chemical abortion access is occurring as statewide abortion reporting requirements are simultaneously being dismantled, limiting public visibility into complications, trends, and outcomes. The organization also pointed to an anticipated U.S. Supreme Court ruling expected tomorrow that could significantly impact the future regulation and distribution of abortion drugs nationwide.
Abortion Free New Mexico recently raised concerns about The Satanic Temple’s promotion of abortion pill distribution under so-called “religious ritual” claims operating through telemedicine and mail-order abortion systems.
“If the U.S. Supreme Court allows the Fifth Circuit ruling to stand, it could significantly disrupt the mail-order abortion pill model being used by groups like The Satanic Temple to expand chemical abortion access nationwide — including in New Mexico,” said Shaver. “A ruling restoring in-person dispensing requirements would directly undermine the telemedicine and mail-order system these organizations rely on to operate.”
Shaver continued.
“Chemical abortions have become the driving force behind abortion expansion in New Mexico,” said Shaver. “The question now is whether there will be any meaningful oversight, accountability, or legal limitations moving forward.”
Abortion Free New Mexico recently released a statewide “New Mexico Abortion Landscape” analysis documenting the concentration and continued expansion of abortion facilities and services throughout the state.
Albuquerque, New Mexico- Abortion Free New Mexico has witnessed several mothers choose life and leave the abortion center in recent weeks. Praise God! In fact, yesterday morning our team at the UNM abortion center embraced a young mom that is 8 weeks pregnant, with 4 existing children and is trying to escape a domestic violence situation. This mom approached our team in tears but after speaking with Tara, receiving hope, encouragement and prayer she left joyful.
This is what putting our faith into action produces, changed hearts and lives. Tara is helping this mom find work, safe housing and had diapers and wipes delivered to her doorstep. Your prayers and support are making an impact in New Mexico. Thank you!

Albuquerque, New Mexico- Under the current administration, led by Democrat Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham, Abortion Free New Mexico has obtained very limited data about taxpayer funded abortions through New Mexico Medicaid. In an Inspection of Public Records (IPRA) request on February 6, 2025 made to the New Mexico Health Care Authority (HCA), Tara Shaver of Abortion Free New Mexico asked for a plethora of information regarding the numbers of abortions that were funded through New Mexico Medicaid. The response that the Health Care Authority provided was unprofessional, unclear and incomplete but Abortion Free New Mexico is publishing what has been revealed so far in this investigation.
The following information was requested:
How much money was paid for abortion procedures by New Mexico Medicaid in 2022, 2023 and 2024?
How many abortion procedures were paid for by New Mexico Medicaid in 2022, 2023 and 2024? (Please specify whether the procedure is chemical or surgical.)
Which providers in New Mexico were paid by New Mexico Medicaid for abortion procedures in 2022, 2023 and 2024?
What is the gestational ages of the fetus’ for which abortions were paid for by New Mexico Medicaid in 2022, 2023 and 2024?
How many abortion procedures were paid for by New Mexico Medicaid on undocumented immigrants in 2022, 2023 and 2024?
On March 4, 2025 the New Mexico Health Care Authority public records custodian gave a one sentence reply to Shaver’s initial request which was quite concerning. It simply stated,
“The New Mexico Health Care Authority, $2,980,083.31 was paid in PregTerm through 2022- 2024. The New Mexico Health Care Authority does not have documents responsive to the remainder of this request.”
In a back and forth to clarify, two different dollar amounts were ultimately given, with the final amount being over $3.7 million dollars (Total – $3,768,818.32) for 2022, 2023 and 2024. The letter below dated April 16, 2025 also included a breakdown by year, showing that 2024 had the highest amount paid out for abortions. The lack of transparency regarding this request, however, is a breach of the public trust.
In previous years under a different administration, public records requests were fulfilled completely with all requested data included. Not only did the HCA give a limited repsonse, they also stated that they did not have documents responsive to the rest of the request. Upon reading this, Shaver decided to ask where additional data could be obtained in the interest of public accountability.
Shaver then received the following response via email correspondence with the public records custodian,
“Dear Mrs. Shaver, no we do not know of an government agency that would have this because Medicaid, as we have indicated, does not pay for this. You could try private entities like planned parenthood. Thanks, HCA IPRA Team.”
Tara Shaver, spokeswoman for Abortion Free New Mexico issued the following statement,
“It is very frustrating when a state agency, like the New Mexico Health Care Authority, that is entrusted with public information withholds, denies and even changes the information when it is requested by the public. This is unfortunately the norm in Democrat run states like New Mexico. The New Mexico Health Care Authority denied that Medicaid even pays for abortions but gave two contradicting dollar amounts for PregTerm (short for Pregnancy Termination) which is regarded as medical or surgical abortions. For a state that is so proud to champion abortion, why are they so unwilling to release actual abortion numbers that state taxpayers have funded? Is this an indication that they know how evil abortion really is and are attempting to hide this information from the public?”
Abortion Free New Mexico has reached out to an open government organization for assistance and has submitted another IPRA request to the New Mexico HCA to try and gain the original requested information based on the medical codes used for abortions.
New Mexico is 1 of 19 states that uses state tax dollars through Medicaid to fully fund elective abortions. This use of state tax dollars being utilized to fund abortions through New Mexico Medicaid despite the Hyde Amendment, is based on a New Mexico Supreme Court order.
The New Mexico Supreme Court has ruled that the State must cover all medically necessary abortions in its Medicaid program using State-only funds. The Court based its decision to expand coverage of abortion services on the State Constitution’s Equal Rights Amendment (ERA). Specifically, the Court found that the Medicaid agency’s rule prohibiting State funding for certain medically necessary abortions denies Medicaid-eligible women equal rights. The agency’s rule results in a program that does not apply the same standard of medical necessity to both men and women, and there is no compelling justification for treating men and women differently with respect to their medical needs.”
The cost of a first trimester abortion is typically around $600, whereas a 32 week abortion costs $17,500.
There is a definite trend in New Mexico to promote abortion but keep citizens in the dark about their shameful deeds. During the most recent 2024 legislative session, radical abortion legislators introduced multiple bills to suppress abortion related data. Unfortunately, one bill did pass, SB57 which prevents the public from knowing the names of abortion providers, employed by a public body. It begs the question, why do you want to hide your identity if you are so proud to take the lives of little babies by performing grisly abortions, some up to 32 weeks of pregnancy? The citizens of New Mexico deserve transparency from their government and every innocent life should be protected under the law, born and preborn,” stated Tara Shaver.
Albuquerque, New Mexico- Every week for several years, Abortion Free New Mexico’s (AFNM) sidewalk counseling team has interacted with a security guard at the UNM Center for Reproductive Health (UNMCRH) abortion center. Some days, he has been aggressive and hostile, other times he actually seemed supportive of our efforts. Due to the AFNM team’s public opposition to the University of New Mexico’s radical abortion agenda, he appeared to be struggling with a crisis of conscience.
“A University of New Mexico (UNM) employee attempted to drown out our message. (parked their car and intentionally turned on their car alarm. Our efforts will not be silenced.
He shared at one point, after being educated by the AFNM sidewalk counseling team about the dangers to women posed by this facility, that he would at times encourage mothers to seek help from AFNM volunteers, and in the middle of 2024, he shared that a relative of his, was struggling with cancer.
AFNM volunteers would pray with him regularly and always encouraged him to find work elsewhere.
Praise God, the Abortion Free New Mexico sidewalk counseling team has confirmed that this security guard quit his job from the abortion industry because in his own words,
“I just couldn’t do it anymore.”
The effectiveness of sidewalk ministry is boundless.
Tara Shaver, spokeswoman for Abortion Free New Mexico issued the following statement:
“You just can’t shake abortion stigma. The killing of an innocent child through abortion will never be normalized. Abortion, doesn’t just taint the women seeking abortions, but also the workers at abortion facilities. Shame, regret, and even self hatred haunts those most closely involved in abortions. While we rejoice when a mom chooses life, we also rejoice when abortion workers walk away from the abortion industry. Abortion Free New Mexico applauds this abortion clinic worker who bravely walked away from the UNM free-standing abortion facility (UNMCRH). This testimony is a direct result of our volunteers who prayerfully minister to everyone with love and compassion.”
Section 1. Purpose and Policy. For nearly five decades, the Congress has annually enacted the Hyde Amendment and similar laws that prevent Federal funding of elective abortion, reflecting a longstanding consensus that American taxpayers should not be forced to pay for that practice. However, the previous administration disregarded this established, commonsense policy by embedding forced taxpayer funding of elective abortions in a wide variety of Federal programs. It is the policy of the United States, consistent with the Hyde Amendment, to end the forced use of Federal taxpayer dollars to fund or promote elective abortion.”
The Trump administration will temporarily stop payments on multiple federal programs Tuesday evening [.]”
It was unclear how this freeze on federal funds would impact Medicaid.
Democratic U.S. senators reported Medicaid portals in all 50 states were down on Tuesday.”
However, a subsequent document issued from the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) stated,
“In addition to Social Security and Medicare, already explicitly excluded in the guidance, mandatory programs like Medicaid and SNAP will continue without pause.”
Interestingly though, this document clearly indicated that programs affected by this freeze on federal funds must adhere to President Donald J. Trumps recent Executive Orders including the, “Enforcing The Hyde Amendment”.
New Mexico is one of the most dependent states upon federal funds to cover Medicaid. According to Google AI,
In 2022, the federal government covered 84.6% of New Mexico’s Medicaid costs.
Medicaid is the largest expenditure in New Mexico’s budget.
New Mexico Medicaid 100% funds full-term abortions.
New Mexico Medicaid 100% funds full-term abortions. In fact, in a recent report, Abortion Free New Mexico exposed that the New Mexico Department of Health website indicated that New Mexico Medicaid would fund abortions for minors and even illegal immigrants!
In this bombshell report Abortion Free New Mexico brought the receipts. Here are screen shots from the New Mexico Department of Health website, links therein and related links:
Abortion Free New Mexico took to social media and asked President Trump’s Press Secretary, Karoline Leavitt,
Can President Donald J. Trump and The White House ensure that NO federal funds will continue to fund full-term abortions in New Mexico?”
Tara Shaver issued the following statement,
Abortion Free New Mexico is calling upon President Donald J. Trump and his administration to immediately freeze federal funds to New Mexico that are being used by New Mexico Medicaid to fully fund full term abortions.”
Shaver continued,
New Mexico Democrats have created an ‘abortion free for all’ in our state that has opened the door for minors, illegal immigrants and out of state residents to kill their children via abortion using public tax dollars! Enough is enough.”
Santa Fe, New Mexico- The New Mexico Supreme Court unanimously ruled on Thursday, January 9, 2025 that counties and cities across the state cannot enact pro-life laws to protect pre-born babies. The Sanctuary Cities for the Unborn ordinances that were passed in New Mexico are known as Comstock Only Ordinances. These laws are not explicit abortion bans, but are “de facto” abortion bans. They require compliance with federal statutes specifically, specifically 18 U.S.C. § 1461 and 18 U.S.C. § 1462, prohibiting the mailing and receiving of abortion-inducing drugs and paraphernalia, according to Mark Lee Dickson.According to the New Mexico Supreme Court’s overriding opinion,
The Court wrote that the ordinances did not exactly follow federal law but went beyond the requirements. Several of the ordinances authorized city or county leaders to approve or deny licenses for abortion clinics and providers.
‘Because Respondents’ authority to regulate health care access and physician licensure is entirely preempted, Respondents’ police powers in these areas are extremely limited,’ the Court wrote. ‘To the extent Respondents have any residual authority, they certainly have no power to supplant the will of the statewide electorate in favor of their own.’
The counties and cities affected by the decision are: Lea County, Roosevelt County, Eunice, Clovis, Hobbs and Edgewood New Mexico. These local governments argued that the ordinances constituted a lawful exercise of their powers for protecting the “health and safety” of their residents.Abortion Free New Mexico first reported in 2019 on Lea County becoming first county in New Mexico to take this bold action:
Lea County Board of County Commissioners passed, “A Resolution In Support of the Unborn” making Lea County the FIRST Sanctuary County in New Mexico for the UNBORN! Jonathan Sena, District 4 County Commissioner sponsored the resolution. Thank you and God Bless Lea County, New Mexico!
The other counties and cities soon followed in their footsteps and took swift action to enact pro-life measures to prevent radical pro-abortion expansion into their communities.
As reported by the Las Cruces Sun News, Abortion Free New Mexico has fully supported these efforts.
After each local government in New Mexico voted to adopt a resolution essentially denouncing abortion, the fiercely anti-abortion organization Abortion Free New Mexico, run by Albuquerque residents Bud and Tara Shaver, issued a news release touting the action.”
Tara Shaver, spokeswoman for Abortion Free New Mexico issued the following statement:
In 2022, the United States Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade and ruled that states all across the country can now enact and enforce laws protecting the unborn. The Sanctuary Cities for the Unborn ordinances were based on federal laws that should absolutely be enforceable in every state.
The unconstitutional ruling by the New Mexico Supreme Court just proves that federal protection must be granted to restore personhood to the unborn because it should never be left up to corrupt states to arbitrarily decide who lives and who dies. Abortion Free New Mexico condemns the New Mexico Supreme Court’s decision to undermine federal laws from being enforced in our state where abortion tourism is so rampant. Women and children deserve better, cities and counties should be able to protect their citizens, whether born or unborn.”

Mark Lee Dickson ofSanctuary Cities For The Unbornshared virtually an encouragement to stay involved locally. We heard heartfelt testimonies from several volunteers and had a spectacular silent auction benefitting the Life Fund.

Albuquerque, New Mexico- We are committed to unity and working alongside groups and individuals who share our shared values and who are working toward the goal of making New Mexico thrive.
Abortion Free New Mexico is not a political organization, but we understand the important role of politics in our country to enact justice and protect innocent life! Our leaders matter. Their policies shape our state and country. So it is important in our form of government to elect leaders who best share our values!
We are partners with Better Together New Mexico, see their email below.
Today is the day! It is the day we have been looking for that can change the trajectory of our state and nation.
Remember the 2023 legislative session that took away parental rights? It was the state’s progressive majority who voted for a law that allows a child of any age to get an abortion or transition to another gender – without their parent’s knowledge or consent!
Those people are on this year’s ballot and many of them have an opponent.
And if they voted for that atrocious bill, you can rest assured they are also voting to raise our taxes and take other rights away from us.
This is our opportunity to elect people who will respect all of us and our rights.
It’s our opportunity to vote for or against retaining judges who are putting criminals back on the street to terrorize us and bring harm.
We don’t have to live like this! Our vote is our voice and every vote matters greatly. If you have not voted, please take this decision seriously and exercise your rights to select our leadership. You can get valuable insight into candidates, Constitutional Amendment, Bond issues and much more here: 2024 Election Information.
If you have already voted – thank you for understanding how critical this election is! Please help others to understand the importance of their vote and help them get to the polls.
This is our time! Let’s make the best use of it and make sure our vote is counted.
For New Mexico,
Carla Sonntag President, Better Together New Mexico
Albuquerque, New Mexico- Voting is a powerful way to make your voice heard and influence the future of our state. Single party domination does not work well and the many ‘worst in the nation’ rankings prove it.
Defend Traditional Values: Self-proclaimed “progressives” in New Mexico have passed laws (and want more) that put parental rights, pre-born babies rights, and the values of hard work and personal responsibility under attack. Your vote can help elect leaders who are committed to preserving the principles that strengthen New Mexico’s communities.
Your vote matters – some elections in New Mexico are won/lost by a single vote! Make sure you take time to make your voice heard at the ballot box and help shape the future of New Mexico.
Because ours is a fight for the future, and it is a fight for freedom – for freedom – like the fundamental freedom of a woman to make decisions about her own body and not have her government tell her what to do,” Harris said. “And, again, we’re not going to be gaslighted on this. We remember Donald Trump hand-selected three members of the United States Supreme Court with the intention that they would undo the protections of Roe v. Wade, and they did as he intended.”
Luke Polaske then boldly interjected “abortion is a sacrament to Satan” and then he and his friend Grant Beth proclaimed, “Christ is King, Jesus is Lord!”
Listen to them recount their interaction with Kamala Harris on Fox and FriendsHERE
Kamala Harris instantly responded (off teleprompter) to their bold declaration that Jesus is Lord,
Albuquerque, New Mexico- Charges have been filed with the Albuquerque Police Department (APD) against assailant, Derek Moore, for the altercation that occurred outside of Whole Woman’s Health abortion center, on August 15, 2024 involving Abortion Free New Mexico leader, Bud Shaver.
According to the police report two separate charges were filed against Derek Moore:
Aggravated Assault With Deadly Weapon
Larceny – Miscellaneous Under $250
The larceny charge (under $250) is a petty misdemeanor and the aggravated assault with a deadly weapon charge is a 4th degree felony in the state of New Mexico carrying a maximum sentence of 18 months imprisonment.
Moore admits to swerving his car, toward Bud Shaver, while driving past Whole Woman’s Health abortion center, but claims to have been:
“distracted and accidently pulled to close to a curb, then swerved back into his lane and continued on his way.” [sic]
On the day of the incident however, Derek Moore seemingly admits to attempting to run down Bud Shaver, when confronted on video, he derisively states,
“Call the cops, they aren’t going to do anything.”
Responding to the police concerning the larceny charge (stealing a pro-life sign):
“Derek stated he saw someone (Shaver) obstructing the sidewalk with a bunch of garbage, so he parked his car. Derek stated he then went and picked up a piece of the garbage to ‘throw it out’. Derek stated (Shaver) followed him and called him a communist. Derek stated (Shaver) was having an ‘illegal protest and obstructing the sidewalk’.”
Thankfully, the incident was recorded on video and the evidence speaks for itself. Please pray that justice is served and that Mr. Moore comes to know the Lord Jesus Christ.
Abortion Free New Mexico has daily teams of sidewalk counselors outside of three local abortion centers throughout Albuquerque, New Mexico. Their signs contain positive messages offering help and hope to abortion bound women. They also have tangible help on hand: baby items, Love Boxes, and a vast wealth of resources to offer the mom’s. The teams maintain a peaceful, prayerful, free speech presence while exercising their 1st Amendment rights and abide by all local and state laws.
After publishing the initial report documenting the altercation on August 15, 2024 Abortion Free New Mexico was contacted by other local pro-life sidewalk counselors. Derek Moore was able to be identified, because he apparently has a history of harassing peaceful pro-lifer’s and has allegedly attempted to steal their signs in the past.
(Evidence provided to Albuquerque Police Department by Abortion Free New Mexico)
Tara Shaver, spokeswoman for Abortion Free New Mexico issued the following statement:
“Abortion Free New Mexico would like to thank the Albuquerque Police Department (APD) for responding so quickly to this incident and following through with the charges. Hopefully, the unhinged Derek Moore will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. A strong message needs to be sent to the pro-abortion community that they can’t attack peaceful pro-life Christians for simply living out their Christian faith in the public square. Abortion Free New Mexico volunteers go the the sidewalks outside of local abortion centers with love and compassion. Clearly our peaceful, prayerful presence is having an impact. Our team will not be deterred, we will purchase some more signs and materials and return to Whole Woman’s Health abortion facility more resolute than ever to help pregnant women in need and save precious babies lives.”
By Bud Shaver, Albuquerque, New Mexico- On August 5, 2024, New Mexico Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham announced that her administration launched a $400,000 ad campaign throughout Texas to recruit more abortionists to New Mexico.
“The ad campaign, strewn across five major Texas newspapers and displayed across six billboards around the Houston Medical Center, is aiming to lure doctors to New Mexico, where they will have the ‘Freedom to Provide’ abortion, among other ostensible health services.”
For over eight years, New Mexico has ranked last in the nation for education (the entire tenure of governor Michelle Lujan Grisham) and consistently ranks as one of the poorest states in the country. In addition to using New Mexico tax dollars to recruit abortionists, New Mexico Medicaid fully funds abortions as well. Is it not obvious that tax dollars would be better utilized to help pull children out of poverty and provide them with a good education, not kill them?
Tara Shaver, spokeswoman for Abortion Free New Mexico issued the following statement:
“Using $400,000 of New Mexicans hard earned tax dollars to recruit abortionists to our state is disgraceful. The only thing New Mexico has to offer people is ABORTION under Michelle Lujan Grisham’s tenure as governor. Not a quality education, or a higher standard of life! The New Mexico Democrat controlled legislature couldn’t even deliver public safety measures to the people of New Mexico during its recent emergency special session. ABORTION and only ABORTION is all that the Democrat Party of New Mexico can agree upon. New Mexico has a vast supply of natural resources that should provide a high quality of life to every child in our state, but instead, the leaders only want to use our tax dollars to kill its most greatest asset, our children.”
New Mexico Department of Health Provides Tax Funded Abortions to “Undocumented People”
Abortion Free New Mexico discovered a website highlighted by the New Mexico Department of Health (pictured above) that is also promoting Medicaid funded abortions for (illegal) “undocumented” immigrant women and they emphatically state,
“A social security number is not required to get these benefits.”
In fact, this website boasts how Planned Parenthood of New Mexico intentionally skirts around regulatory requirements to provide abortions to (illegal) “undocumented” immigrant women.
In case there wasn’t enough proof of the abortion free for all in New Mexico, the radically pro-abortion network, “Hey Jane” spells is out pretty clearly:
Tara Shaver continued,
“New Mexico Democrats have created an ‘abortion free for all’ in our state that has opened the door for minors, illegal immigrants and out of state residents to kill their children via abortion using public tax dollars! Enough is enough, New Mexicans must rise up against this corrupt government. Take action, make your voice heard, contact your elected officials and make a plan to vote in November!”
Albuquerque, New Mexico- God saved three babies from abortion today in Albuquerque, New Mexico out at the Alamo Women’s Abortion Facility! All three moms received a Love Box, diapers and blankets. Praise God for the Volunteers that are the hands and feet of Christ on the sidewalk!
“The smiles on their faces – there’s just no mistaking that they know they made the right choice. They are happy! No smiles like that on the faces of the people who didn’t choose life. Thank you God!” Mark, Abortion Free New Mexico Volunteer
These moms arrive to the abortion clinic with no hope for the future with their baby, and are completely unaware of how much support the pro-life community has to offer them. This support extends throughout their pregnancy and beyond. Please pray for all of our volunteers who are out on the frontlines at three abortion facilities in Albuquerque. Pray that more Christians will respond to the call to to rise up and put their faith into action.
Our ultimate goal is to prayerfully cover these abortion facilities EVERY hour they are open.

Albuquerque, New Mexico- Abortion Free New Mexico leader Bud Shaver, and faithful volunteer Mark (pictured above) helped a mom choose life this Thursday at the Whole Woman’s Health abortion center. As soon as Bud set up our new, “Hope & Help” display table, that our sidewalk counseling teams are now utilizing out at THREE abortion centers throughout Albuquerque, a woman approached them and picked up the “We Can Help” sign and stated:
“I just can’t go through with this, this is what I need!” [pointing to the sign]
She said that she just couldn’t go through with the abortion even though she had been to Whole Woman’s Health twice before. She is 17 weeks pregnant and said that she is really looking for help. She was able to connect with our partnering Love Life mentor and she has a meeting scheduled with a local maternity home, Casa de Mariposa.
Praise God that all of you continue to remain on the sidewalks, imagine if Bud and Mark hadn’t been there, she could’ve possibly gone through with the abortion thinking that there were no resources available to her.
Join our team to reach even more mothers by signing up at AbortionFreeNM.com.
Albuquerque, New Mexico- On May 14, Abortion Free New Mexico visited La Cueva high school with the message that life is precious and worthy of protecting. In this affluent neighborhood our team was met with disrespect by several young men who were abortion supporters and a few young women who stopped to ask about abortion in the case of rape. Our team addressed the reasons why abortions should not be allowable even in cases of rape, the fact that both mom and baby are victims of the rape and having an abortion doesn’t undo the rape to name just two. We were also able to share with the young men nearby that abortion after rape protects the rapist when they should be the one criminalized.
On this day, the mother of a student (in the video below) decided to draw more attention to our presence by trying to censor our message.
She did everything she could to block one of our signs, the one showing an abortion victim. When we tried to find out why she would want to block the truth about abortion she refused to dialogue with us. Afterward our team gathered around with this lady still in our midst and we prayed for her. We prayed for her repentance and healing from any involvement in a previous abortion or involvement in another persons abortion. We have learned over the years that it is those who have been profoundly affected by abortion that lash out at us or try to prevent others from being educated about the reality of abortion.
(Ministry happens anywhere! Yes, even at our Pro-Life Rummage Sale, hosted at Providence Presbyterian Church.)
On May 18th, Abortion Free New Mexico hosted its first Rummage Sale for Life to raise funds for The Life Fund which provides emergent financial support to pregnant mothers. The sale was a labor of love that culminated into a very successful event. The ministry raised over $2,000 and had countless opportunities to share local pro-life resources with members of the community.
The team also was able to minister to a woman who is battling loneliness and other issues in her life. She was prayed for and encouraged to attend a Bible study and Sunday services at the church where the sale was held.
A special thanks to Providence Presbyterian Church for hosting the Rummage Sale for Life, all of the volunteers that donated their time and to all who donated items.
“Ministry happens anywhere that we make ourselves available. So many are battling different things in their lives, it could be a past abortion, an unwanted divorce or separation, addiction or simply feeling alone in this world. It was a blessing to be able to bring light into our community at the Rummage Sale for Life, while working together to spread the message that there is hope and help for pregnant women considering an abortion,” stated Tara Shaver.
Join us for an afternoon of fellowship and food as we reconnect just in time for summer. RSVP is required where you can also sign up for a dish to share. We are also asking you to bring a box of size 1 or 2 diapers if you are able.
Albuquerque, New Mexico- On Wednesday, April 10, 2024, Abortion Free New Mexico volunteers documented two abortion related injuries on the same day at the University of New Mexico Center For Reproductive Health (UNMCRH) freestanding abortion facility. This is the EIGHTH abortion injury documented at the UNM Center for Reproductive Health abortion center since Abortion Free New Mexico launched the daily sidewalk prayer initiative, No Sidewalk Without The Savior at UNMCRH in April of 2022.
The first abortion injury occurred at 2:30PM. At that time, a fire engine, police car and 2 ambulances were photographed onsite and a woman was wheeled out of the abortion center on a gurney and placed in an ambulance. Shockingly, the second abortion injury was documented around 4:00PM on the same day! Both women were taken to a local emergency room and their condition after a probable botched abortion injury is unknown.
First and second trimester abortions are performed up to 24 weeks (6 months) of pregnancy at this location. The UNMCRH is also a location which trains resident physicians how to perform abortions through the Ryan Residency Training program.
Tara Shaver, spokeswoman for Abortion Free New Mexico, issued the following statement,
“Abortion at any stage of pregnancy is a brutal violent act. Precious unborn children pay the ultimate price with their lives but many times, as documented twice today, women sustain life threatening injuries because abortions are incredibly invasive and unnatural. Many women seeking abortions are not fully aware of the risks and they are even less likely to be told, by the abortion industry, about the alternatives to abortion. The pro-abortion community doesn’t care about women’s health, they just demand unrestricted abortion regardless of the life threatening consequences.”
Abortion Free New Mexico volunteers continue to be the on the frontlines everyday in front of Albuquerque abortion facilities. They serve as a voice for unborn children who are scheduled to die and as a resource for women who are open to hearing about all of their options.
By Bud Shaver, Albuquerque, New Mexico- Abortion Free New Mexico’s Project Weak Link investigation into the waste hauler, Biocycle/Oncore Technologies is bearing fruit in the state of Texas. The local Albuquerque Planned Parenthood surgical center was utilizing this company that would show up weekly to their facility to take aborted babies away for disposal. Tara discovered their vehicle wasn’t properly labeled but that was only the beginning of their numerous violations. Sanctuary Cities for the Unborn is leading the charge in Texas, trying to put a stop to this practice because of what our initial investigation uncovered.
See the related articles below and stay tuned for more updates. In response to these encouraging developments, Tara Shaver of Abortion Free New Mexico issued the following statement,
Abortion Free New Mexico fully supports the measures that Sanctuary Cities for the Unborn is pursuing in Texas to encourage the Texas legislature to close the abortion trafficking of aborted babies loophole and their proactive measures in Amarillo, TX to become a Sanctuary City for the Unborn, while also addressing the practice of transporting and disposing of babies killed by elective abortions as well as the abortion trafficking of Amarillo residents into pro-abortion states like New Mexico.”
Abortion business ‘waste’ hauled into Texas from across America for disposal
By Tayte Ward | March 13, 2024 (Guest writer at Live Action)
In March of 2021, an unmarked vehicle with Texas license plates was seen receiving material on a weekly basis from a Planned Parenthood in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Tara Shaver, a sidewalk counselor with Abortion Free New Mexico, noticed this and contacted the New Mexico Environment Department (NMED) with photo evidence of large red shipping containers being placed in the vehicle.
Shaver noted state administrative codes require commercial haulers (of infectious waste) to
conspicuously label all solid waste collection vehicles with the company, municipality, or county department name,” as well as “conspicuously label all solid waste collection vehicles with the environment department registration number.”
These violations prompted NMED to investigate. Daniel R. Galasso, the Solid Waste Bureau (SWB) Enforcement Officer, met with Amy Dickson, Chief Operating Officer of Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains. She supplied the SWB with 17 special waste manifests, showing the company Oncore Technology, LLC, received and hauled what was deemed as “infectious waste” from the abortion facility for a brief period of time. Oncore, located in Grand Prairie, Texas, was found to be an unregistered commercial hauler.
(Oncore facility sign)
Thomas Simmons, the Operations Manager of Oncore Technology, told Galasso in August of 2021 that Oncore Health Solutions and BioCycle operated in conjunction for hauling purposes for Oncore Technology, LLC. SWB records determined Oncore Health Solutions was the transporter arriving at the New Mexico clinic; Oncore Health Solutions was also not a registered commercial hauler. These manifests used the registration number for a registered commercial hauler, BioCycle, Inc., located in Amarillo, Texas. As a result of the violations, the New Mexico Environment Department fined Oncore Technology $300 — which was less than the price of the abortion pill regimen administered by the Planned Parenthood in Albuquerque during the time of this investigation. In 2015, prior to abortion being outlawed in Texas, Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast, Inc., located in Houston, released a response to the Department of Health and Hospitals regarding a video seeming to verify the taking part in illegal fetal tissue sales from abortions, which Planned Parenthood denied. In this response, the president and CEO Melaney A. Linton stated products of abortion are defined as “pathological waste” under Texas law.
Linton stated,
[Planned Parenthood Center for Choice (PPCFC)] contracts with a company to dispose of its Special Waste from Health Care-Related Facilities, which includes Pathological Waste from PPCFC… PPCFC contracts with Oncore Technology, LLC for the disposal of Special Waste from Health Care-Related Facilities, including Pathological Waste. Oncore’s address is 2613 Skyway Dr. Grand Prairie, TX 75052.”
As a result of how Planned Parenthood and others were treating the remains of unborn children as “pathological waste,” the Texas legislature passed a fetal burial bill known as Senate Bill 8 (2017). That bill clarified that
Embryonic and fetal tissue remains are not pathological waste under state law” and required health care facilities within the State of Texas that provide “health or medical care to a pregnant woman” to “dispose of embryonic and fetal tissue remains that are passed or delivered at the facility by: (1) interment; (2) cremation; (3) incineration followed by interment; or (4) steam disinfection followed by interment.” The law was clear to say, “The ashes resulting from the cremation or incineration of embryonic and fetal tissue remains: (1) may be interred or scattered in any manner as authorized by law for human remains; and (2) may not be placed in a landfill.”

On Saturday, February 24th, 2024, an employee who was leaving BioCycle Healthcare Waste Management Services in Amarillo, Texas, stopped to answer some questions from a couple of curious bystanders outside of the facility’s gated entrance. One of those bystanders was Mark Lee Dickson, a director with Right to Life of East Texas and the founder of the Sanctuary Cities for the Unborn Initiative.
Dickson asked the employee if the company ever picked up from Planned Parenthood. The employee shared with Dickson that he was picking up from a Planned Parenthood in Wichita, Kansas — over six hours away.
When asked if he picked up from any abortion facilities outside of Wichita, Kansas, the employee answered,
That’s the only one that I know about off the top of my head because it’s the one that I do because I’m just a driver here. So there’s probably more but I just don’t know off the top of my head.”
When asked how often his company picked up from the Wichita abortion facility, the driver responded,
Every month. Once a month.”
Upon being asked if the Amarillo facility was disposal or storage, the driver answered,
It’s both. We store it, and then we dispose of it as well.”
BioCycle/Oncore Technology has a broad service range, providing business to several states, including Arizona, Arkansas, California, Kansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Texas.
I find it utterly demonic that a waste management company in Amarillo, Texas, would be doing business with an abortion clinic in Wichita, Kansas.”
Abortion Free New Mexico missionary Tara Shaver, who filed the initial BioCycle complaint in Albuquerque, New Mexico, shared,
Abortion Free New Mexico firmly believes that biohazard waste hauling and disposal companies are the weak link of the abortion industry. These companies make it possible for Planned Parenthood and other abortion providers across the nation to kill innocent unborn babies and then inhumanely discard their bodies as biohazard waste.”
Shaver continued,
The fact that abortion is illegal in Texas but aborted babies from states including New Mexico can be disposed of, in a pro-life state like Texas, by BioCycle Healthcare Waste Management Services is egregious.”
Texas medical waste management facility types include medical waste autoclave facility, medical waste processor, incinerator, and medical waste transfer station. BioCycle is a medical waste autoclave facility. According to BioCycle’s website
, the process of disposal of medical waste begins by weighing containers on an industrial scale. Then, waste-filled carts are loaded into the autoclave, a device used to sterilize the waste. This process is followed by unloading the materials into a shredder and then placing the shredded waste into a compactor. It is unknown how waste is ultimately disposed of.
Currently, there are no Texas laws prohibiting the hauling of fetal remains into Texas and disposing of those remains.
In 2017, Texas passed a fetal burial law,”
said Mark Lee Dickson.
Unfortunately, that law has a massive loophole. While state law addresses the disposal of remains of unborn children from medical facilities within the state of Texas in §697.004 of the Health and Safety Code, state law does not address: (1) the transportation of the remains of unborn children who have been killed by an elective abortion from an abortion provider in another state, and (2) the disposal of the remains of an unborn child killed by an elective abortion outside the State of Texas at a waste management facility inside the State of Texas.”
Dickson concluded,
BioCycle/Oncore Technology/Oncore Health Solutions have a history of working with baby-murdering cartels across our nation and nothing in the laws of Texas stops them from continuing to have that history of ‘cleaning up’ for the baby murdering industry. In one report, Planned Parenthood Mar Monte, Inc. in California reported giving Oncore Technology, LLC $166,255 for medical services. Organizations like Oncore Technology must stop assisting the baby killers in this work.”
Representative Dustin Burrows, who cosponsored Senate Bill 8 (2017), shared,
“Texas needs to close the loophole; however, Amarillo has the power to close it now.”
Burrows stressed the importance of cities like Amarillo doing their part to address this issue now instead of waiting for over 18 months for a State law to take effect, or in case the Texas legislature fails to pass a bill addressing this loophole.
Citizens of Amarillo are attempting to close this loophole and other loopholes through a Sanctuary Cities for the Unborn Ordinance and their city’s citizen initiative petition process allowed for by their city charter. Volunteers have been working to gather a sufficient number of residents’ signatures in support of the Amarillo Initiative to petition the Amarillo City Council. If they collect enough signatures and the measure is passed by a vote of the city council or the citizens of Amarillo, BioCycle will be forced to cease its interactions with out-of-state abortion facilities.
Albuquerque, New Mexico- During the 2024 Super Bowl LVIII an ad that many are calling “blasphemous” was aired, and it has rightfully sparked outrage among conservative Christians. Here are some examples of the most prominent voices of opposition:
The controversial ad features, in particular, a picture of a woman washing the feet of another woman at an abortion facility with pro-life individuals putting down their signs in the background. Other controversial images depict a Priest washing the feet of a LGBTQ+ individual and a police officer washing the feet of an implied criminal (police lights flashing in the background).
The ad ends with the words in all caps, “JESUS DIDN’T TEACH HATE, HE WASHED FEET.”
Interestingly, according to The Sporting News, “Among the donors behind the [He Get’s Us] campaign is the family of billionaire Hobby Lobby co-founder David Green, whose son is a board member at Come Near.”
The apparent Christian backed propaganda messaging implies, in the scene above, that the Pro-Life community shouldn’t protest abortion or peacefully confront abortion minded women at abortion facilities. To do so is not loving it is, “HATE”. They should instead follow Jesus’ example and “wash their feet.”
MYTH/PROPAGANDA VS. REALITY
Publicly being present at abortion facilities does convict abortion minded women, some of whom are already on the fence about their abortion decision. Some women even arrive looking for a “sign” or a way out and thank us for being there. Those who courageously and sacrificially go to abortion facilities to share the gospel and minister to women are the last line of defense on the frontlines of the battle for life in this country.
Abbey Johnson, a former manager at Planned Parenthood, revealed that upper management complained, “Our no-show rate goes up to 75% when people are outside our clinics praying.”
It has also been documented in the articles below that the use of both fetal development and abortion victim images of abortion violence, do change individuals minds and saves babies lives.
Abortionists at a National Abortion Federation gathering themselves readily admitted that abortion is, “grotesque, it is killing, and it is violent.” Abortion Free New Mexico firmly believes in and has seen the positive effects of the use of signs and especially those depicting what abortion violence does to babies in the womb. Women deserve to know what happens to their baby when they have an abortion and abortion facilities never show these images to them.
WHAT DOES THE NEW TESTAMENT ACTUALLY SAY?
Biblical (New Testament) examples of feet washing include Jesus/Christians washing fellow Christians feet expressing their humility, service and love to one another; and repentant sinners to Jesus as an act expressing their true sorrow for their sins:
In Luke, it was the repentant sinner who washed Jesus’ feet expressing her true sorrow over her sin, Luke 7: 37-38 “A woman in that town who lived a sinful life learned that Jesus was eating at the Pharisee’s house, so she came there with an alabaster jar of perfume. 38 As she stood behind him at his feet weeping, she began to wet his feet with her tears. Then she wiped them with her hair, kissed them and poured perfume on them.”
John 13:2-17 Jesus washes his disciples feet, “Jesus knew that the Father had put all things under his power, and that he had come from God and was returning to God; so he got up from the meal, took off his outer clothing, and wrapped a towel around his waist. After that, he poured water into a basin and began to wash his disciples’ feet, drying them with the towel that was wrapped around him.”
John 13:2–17 recounts Jesus’ performance of this action. In verses 13:14–17, Christ instructs His disciples: “If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet. For I have given you an example, that you should do as I have done to you.”
1 Timothy 5:10 reflects on the godly example set by fellow Christian widows, “and is well known for her good deeds, such as bringing up children, showing hospitality, washing the feet of the Lord’s people…”
Tara Shaver, spokeswoman for Abortion Free New Mexico issued the following statement,
“Abortion Free New Mexico is not motivated by hate, on the contrary, our love for abortion minded women and their babies compels us to act on behalf of our Christian faith and reach them on the sidewalks outside of abortion facilities before they make the tragic choice to take the life of their precious baby. We need more Christians to be willing to publicly pray at local abortion facilities because it does in fact, change women’s minds and saves babies lives. There are currently FIVE abortion facilities in Albuquerque alone. While we have an organized daily/weekly presence at two local abortion facilities the others have limited or no coverage at all.
If our peaceful, public presence was not effective at abortion facilities, then there would not be the need for abortion sympathizers to spend millions of dollars on a Super Bowl ad to thwart our efforts. If any Christian is offended by our pro-life efforts, then Jesus’ example should lead them to wash the feet of their fellow pro-life Christian brothers and sisters, not the feet of unrepentant sinners.”
Please pray for our selfless volunteers and consider joining us on the sidewalk. Training is provided.
Albuquerque, New Mexico- On January 27th, Abortion Free New Mexico volunteers along with our local Love Life Mentor witnessed a mother choose life at the Alamo Women’s abortion center. She was loved on and served, on her way to the airport and has been connected with resources in her hometown. Praise God for this partnership on the sidewalk and for this mom whose heart was open to life. Please pray for her!
Read Karen’s Testimony:
“The Lord gave me the privilege to meet a Mom from Houston- my hometown 🙂 this morning after she walked out of the Alamo Womens Clinic and chose life. She was with her cousin and they were going to walk to McDonalds to wait for an Uber ride back to the airport. A fellow Abortion Free NM volunteer on the sidewalk immediately gave me a blessing box full of goodies and a TX resource guide for this Mom!
I offered to take them to lunch and the airport to find out her needs and how we could support her. There are many physical needs, but I know the greatest need she has is to sincerely know the love of Christ, have a mentor walk alongside her and a church home to adopt her in this journey. She was open to the idea of a mentor helping her along for a year. Within minutes, I had resources from Love Life ABQ for a House of Refuge church and mentor in Houston. I was able to speak to that church today and also refer her to Care Net NW Houston for resources.
What a joy to send her off at the airport with prayer, hugs and all the resources she needs to thrive back home. I hope to stay in touch and am beyond excited to watch how God abundantly provides for this precious Momma and her 8 week baby. I am rejoicing and so thankful for the body of Christ and all the organizations in NM that are unified and fighting so hard for life. They are not just saving physical lives, but also committed to clearly keeping the gospel at the center of that effort. Two lives were richly and eternally blessed today because of all of your prayers and faithfulness. All glory to God for the powerful & good ways He is moving through you in our city! 1 Corinthians 3:6-11″
“Praise God for this collaborative effort on the sidewalk. Lives are spared when we walk in unity together. May more hearts and minds be open to life and to the Lord this year as our volunteers go out daily to the darkest places in our communities, abortion facilities,” stated Tara Shaver, spokeswoman for Abortion Free New Mexico.
Albuquerque, New Mexico- Abortion Free New Mexico is excited to share that the mother, from Cuba seeking asylum in our country, who chose life for her baby and returned to Texas has delivered a beautiful and healthy baby girl! This is the first baby born in 2024 who was spared from abortion when local sidewalk counselors were present to offer hope and help to this immigrant couple from the Republic of Cuba.
For months, Abortion Free New Mexico has partnered with several ministries in Texas to provide groceries, baby items, rent, furniture, dishes and gift cards to this family. It truly has been a collective effort and a powerful example of Christ’s love to this very special mom. Abortion Free New Mexico plans to continue to support this family, through the Life Fund, until they reach financial stability. Thank you to everyone who has given so sacrificially to meet the needs of courageous moms that choose life.

Albuquerque, New Mexico- On January 22, 1984, President Ronald Reagan issued a presidential proclamation designating the third Sunday of January (or close to that) as National Sanctity of Human Life Day. This day is a great opportunity for Pastors, Churches and Pro-life organizations across the United States to bring awareness to the daily attacks against human life through the abortion industry.
Abortion Free New Mexico will be at local churches hosting educational tables on Sanctity of Life weekend and we encourage you to use this time to inform your own Pastor and fellow brothers and sisters in Christ. Here are some tips:

Important Local Pro-Life Events this month:
Dear Pro-Life Advocate,
We are very excited to have a team from Living Waters join us to show the “What is it?” Movie at Calvary Rio Rancho on Sanctity of Life Sunday, January 21, 2024. If you are not familiar with the organization called Living Waters, you probably are familiar with Ray Comfort and his street preaching ministry proclaiming the gospel, fulfilling the great commission.
The movie, “What is it?” takes the same approach of delivering the gospel and logically and biblically describes human life in the womb. It is a powerful example of apologetics being applied to describing a pre-born baby and how God looks at His creation. The movie itself is about an hour long then we will follow with a Q&A session with Emeal Zwayne and Mark Spence of Living Waters to discuss the Pro-Life movement in our nation and in New Mexico.
This will be an opportunity for those who love God and love life to come together in prayer and fellowship. We hope that you, your ministry and anyone else you would like to invite can join other Pro-Life advocates to stand strong for life on January 21, 2024 from 5-7:30pm.

Albuquerque, New Mexico- 2023 has been an amazing year for ministry here in New Mexico. We have seen the Lord move in so many ways and we find comfort in knowing that He ultimately wins in the end. Thanks to your partnership and support we rejoice in all that has been accomplished with 2 babies being born whose moms chose life after speaking with our team. Since October, we have witnessed 9 mothers turn away from abortion centers and choose LIFE! This demonstrates the necessity of being present with hope and resources at these places of death. The Lord has blessed our team with faithfulness, protection, wisdom and love as we are on the frontlines of the battle for lives and souls.
Another silver lining this year was Tara’s ability to be on InfoWars to shed light on the connections between abortion, human trafficking and satanism all of which exploit women and children and are intrinsically evil.
Enjoy our year in review and thank the Lord with us for all He has done in and through us. Please pray for us, our team and for a fruitful 2024. May His light shine through us and may we be ever more bold in proclaiming salvation through Jesus Christ and just how precious human life is.
Be assured of our prayers for you and our deepest gratitude for your partnership as we work to build a culture that loves and values life. God Bless You!
Top 5 Highlights of 2023
#1- As we close out 2023, Abortion Free New Mexico volunteers have seen 9 women choose life since we held our pro-life training weekend, with our ministry partner Love Life, in October of this year. In addition, two babies were born this year with one more arriving in January 2024! We have had the privilege of financially supporting a pregnant mother in Texas which prompted us to launch the Life Fund. This fund specifically serves to help mom’s that our team intercepts at local abortion clinics who choose life and need additional assistance during their pregnancy!
#2- Abortion Free New Mexico continued to host training seminars in 2023. We expanded our efforts to include local high school outreach. Our team also celebrated one year on the sidewalk with No Sidewalk Without the Savior. In addition to our daily presence out at the UNM abortion facility we also expanded our sidewalk counseling outreach to the Alamo Women’s abortion center. In 2023 we partnered with Love Life and hosted a sidewalk counseling training weekend at Praise & Worship Center.
#3- We continued to reach national audiences as our pro-life efforts in New Mexico received diverse coverage from newspapers, TV interviews and were even featured on the front page of Cosmopolitan Magazine! Tara wrapped up 2023 with an extensive interview with Owen Shroyer of Infowars.com. She joined Owen just days after he was released from federal prison for exercising his free speech as a journalist on January 6, 2021.
#4- Due to our daily presence out at the UNM late-term abortion facility, our team was able to document 6 abortion related injuries (in 2023 alone). We also continued our reports exposing New Mexico’s expanding Abortion Clinic Landscape and the radical abortion agenda at the New Mexico Department of Health. Tara was interviewed by local media where Abortion Free New Mexico exposed their unwillingness to promote pro-life resources.
The photo was taken at Sandia Memory Gardens, the only location in New Mexico where aborted babies are buried. Every September we host a memorial service in honor of every unborn life lost to abortion since 1973. This award winning photojournalist did a really good job capturing the heart of our ministry efforts here in New Mexico. Since Roe vs. Wade has been overturned New Mexico has become an abortion magnet for women.
Please keep our ministry efforts in your prayers and if you aren’t already, prayerfully consider supporting Abortion Free New Mexico in 2024!
Albuquerque, New Mexico- This month, Tara Shaver, spokeswoman for Abortion Free New Mexico was the sole pro-life voice featured in an article highlighted on the front page of the November/December edition of Cosmopolitan magazine. The detailed report captioned, “The Devil’s in the… Health Clinic?” highlights The Satanic Temple, their abortion expansion into New Mexico and their legal fight (which a judge has since struck down) claiming that abortions are a necessary component of their religious ritual.
The Satanic Temple is actively capitalizing on New Mexico’s lack of abortion restrictions by promoting and providing the abortion pill by mail. However, the article sheds light on their real agenda which is to use their stated, “religious ritual” of abortion as a desperately insane attempt to overturn abortion restrictions in states where abortion has been banned.
Tara got right to the heart of the issue in her statement below!
“For Tara Shaver, a Christian anti-choice organizer and spokesperson for a group called Abortion Free New Mexico, TST’s [The Satanic Temple] clinic underscored her conviction that abortion is demonic child sacrifice. ‘Do our leaders realize that they have this unholy alliance with Satanists?’ she says. ‘I think it just serves to show the origins of abortion and the type of people that champion it.’”
As Christian missionaries on the frontlines of the battle against the evil of abortion, it is no surprise that Satanists are in the public eye embracing abortion as a key tenet of their self-centered cult.
Since the beginning of time, Satan has been the number one enemy of humanity and abortion (modern day child sacrifice) is the preeminent way Satan is attacking the human family today.
Cosmopolitan, in very dark undertones, spotlights The Satanic Temple, their followers, and even the disturbing chants they encourage women to recite (while looking at themselves in the mirror) before and after their abortion.
(“In TST’s [The Satanic Temple] abortion ritual, the focus is on self-reflection in the context of science.” Picture and quote from Cosmopolitan)
What about the scientific fact that human life begins at conception?
The contrast between the two opposing religions couldn’t be more stark as Christianity encourages sacrificial love, considering others as more important than yourself even to the extreme of loving your enemies. While Satanism embraces self-centered worship to the extreme of killing, even, sacrificing your own child upon the altar of convenience.
There is no question about whether the battle we engage in daily to save precious pre-born lives is one of good vs. evil. Abortion is selfish, evil, demonic and now undoubtedly satanic.
Here are some of the shocked responses to Cosmopolitan’s Satanic article:
“Cosmopolitan Magazine Promotes Satanic Abortion Ritual: ‘This Is the Most Demonic Thing I’ve Ever Seen’”
Albuquerque, New Mexico- Two Safe Haven Baby Boxes were installed in New Mexico just days apart. On October 24, 2023, the city of Belen Fire Station held a ribbon cutting ceremony to debut their newly installed Safe Haven baby box.
On October 21 the Carlsbad Fire Station 1 had their Safe Haven Baby Box blessed at a ceremony that was open to the public.
This makes for the 4th Safe Haven Baby Box installed in the state of New Mexico, the others are located in Española and Hobbs.
The city of Farmington approved a resolution on October 11 of this year for a box to be installed at Fire Station 2 and other cities are considering installations.
Safe Haven Baby boxes provide an alternative to abandoning newborns or disposing of them in dumpsters or trash cans which happens far too often here in the Land of Enchantment. Newborns under 90 days old can be placed in these Safe Haven Baby Boxes or taken to a local church, hospital, fire station or police station with staff on site.
On September 23 of this year, a healthy baby boy was safely placed in the Hobbs Safe Haven baby box. This was the first life that has been saved in New Mexico and serves as proof that these boxes are an effective tool to save lives.
Tara Shaver, spokeswoman for Abortion Free New Mexico issued the following statement,
“It’s beautiful to see that New Mexico has life affirming options for women who are simply overwhelmed or unprepared for motherhood. It is truly a sacrificial act of love that leads these moms to deposit their babies into a Safe Haven baby box, thereby giving them a hope and a future. Abortion Free New Mexico is in full support of these baby boxes and it is our hope that every county will install these as quickly as possible and that more awareness about their availability will spread like wildfire across the state. Every life is beautiful and is worth protecting, both inside and outside of the womb.”
Join Abortion Free New Mexico for our 3rd Annual Year End Finale for Life Appreciation Fundraising Dinner on November 16, 2023. This year’s guest speaker is Troy Newman, President of Operation Rescue, a long time friend and mentor of New Mexico’s Pro-Life Missionaries, Bud and Tara Shaver.
Troy Newman is considered to be “Abortionists #1 Foe” by CNN and is the Founder of the Center for Medical Progress which exposed Planned Parenthood’s aborted baby body parts selling scheme.
In fact, he’s just been unjustly ordered to pay Planned Parenthood 18 million dollars!
This pro-life warrior is coming to New Mexico to give a talk like you’ve never heard before.
You won’t want to miss this unique opportunity to meet Troy and hear from one of the most influential pro-life leaders in the nation- while supporting New Mexico’s Pro-life Missionary family.
Albuquerque, NM– Each week Abortion Free New Mexico volunteers stand in prayer and sidewalk counsel women going into the Alamo Women’s Abortion Clinic. On Saturday, October 7th 27 women entered the abortion facility to kill their children. One couple stopped to talk with a volunteer and was given life saving information and hope before entering the abortion center. It is unknown whether she chose life that day but seeds for life were definitely planted and we are praying that this couple never comes for an abortion in the future.
Abortion Free New Mexico volunteers are compassionate and loving as they call out to each woman who is entering the abortion facility alone or is accompanied by a parent, partner, spouse, friend or family member. However, getting an abortion in New Mexico for a woman coming from out of state is usually FREE and her travel and lodging are also paid for by numerous pro-abortion groups. Needless to say, we are fighting a battle for life when abortions are highly incentivized.
Last Friday, Abortion Free New Mexico held a Sidewalk Counseling Training with 24 people in attendance. We are partnering with Love Life who has a gospel centered approach to reaching these women with hope to choose life but also the truth about a surrendered life in Jesus Christ. This week, a Love Life trainer will be with us on the ground to help us make sure we are being as effective as possible with our positioning and in our conversations. In New Mexico we need wisdom and an army to reach these women and to empower them to make a decision that ensures their child isn’t brutally murdered.
Abortion Free New Mexico is on the frontlines of the battle in Albuquerque. Currently we are present at 2 of the 5 abortion centers offering love and support to abortion determined women. It is a fierce battle, especially since most of these women have come from Texas, some also from Oklahoma and elsewhere. We need your prayers and support as we obey the great commission and plead for mothers to choose life.
You Can Help us Fulfill our Mission for Life in New Mexico!

Another way to learn how the Lord has worked in our ministry this year and what we have planned for 2024 you can attend our Year End Finale for Life for FREE next month.
Albuquerque, NM– Abortion Free New Mexico will be hosting our 3rd Annual Year End Finale for Life Appreciation Fundraising Dinner on November 16, 2023. This year’s guest speaker is Troy Newman, President of Operation Rescue, a long time friend and mentor of New Mexico’s Pro-Life Missionaries, Bud and Tara Shaver.
In fact, Bud and Tara worked for Operation Rescue before arriving in Albuquerque where they learned how to effectively close down abortion facilities and to bring accountability to an unregulated abortion industry. For many years abortionists were shutting their doors and progress was being made as we exposed this grisly industry.
Unfortunately, abortions are now up 220% in New Mexico and we need some reinforcements and encouragement in this battle we are fighting for life. Please join us for our Year End Finale for Life and support our mission to build a culture of life in New Mexico. If you are unable to attend please make a year end gift to our ministry by clicking HERE.

Albuquerque, New Mexico- On Wednesday, July 19th Abortion Free New Mexico volunteers documented the sixth abortion injury of 2023 at the UNM Center for Reproductive Health abortion center. A fire engine and an ambulance were photographed onsite and a woman was taken to a local emergency room. It is unknown what injuries were incurred because the City of Albuquerque refuses to release redacted 911 calls to Abortion Free Mexico leader, Tara Shaver. First and second trimester procedures are performed up to 24 weeks (6 months) of pregnancy at this location. This abortion injury occurred just weeks after New Mexico Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham launched a Reproductive Health Hotline to connect women with abortion providers throughout the state. Abortion Free New Mexico confirmed through a recorded phone call that this hotline is only referring women to pro-abortion organizations and offers little to no help to women who want to continue their pregnancies. Spokeswoman, Tara Shaver issued the following statement,
One thing is for sure, the abortion industry is determined to kill children in the womb no matter what harm may come to the women seeking these grisly invasive procedures. It is a shame that women are not told about potential complications and sometimes irreversible damage that can occur at the hands of local abortionists. Abortion is not healthcare, there is no healing involved in an abortion only death, guilt, shame and regret.”
Abortion Free New Mexico volunteers continue to be on the frontlines everyday in front of Albuquerque abortion facilities. They serve as a voice for unborn children who are scheduled to die and as a resource for women who are open to hearing about all of their options. These volunteers see first hand that the New Mexico abortion cartel is actively thwarting opportunities for women to learn about other positive alternatives to abortion. The UNM Center for Reproductive Health has recently installed a gate to prevent sidewalk counselors from interacting with women in a nearby alley and have also modified their scheduling procedures to have all abortion patients enter the abortion center during a one hour time frame each day. Abortion Free New Mexico is currently serving two women that have chosen life for their babies. Volunteers and your support are needed to reach these women with the love and hope they deserve to continue their pregnancies. To support our work please donate here and fill out our get involved form here.
Albuquerque, New Mexico- Last week, Abortion Free New Mexico asked the pro-life community to help with a last minute donation to help pay rent for a mother who turned away from Southwestern Women’s Options and chose life for her baby. Within 24 hours YOU provided all of the money needed to cover the cost of one months rent. Tara has been in contact with the couple’s landlord, and mailed the rent check which is due to arrive today, July 3rd.
We are grateful to have you partner with us to meet the needs of women who choose life for their babies, yet face uncertain circumstances. This is the beauty of the pro-life movement, the desire to provide vital tangible resources for life’s problems so that moms don’t have to suffer the consequences of abortion. Your giving proves this to be true and also demonstrates that we are a community that loves all women no matter their country of origin or status of citizenship, every life is a beautiful gift worth fighting for.
This couple is so grateful that they offered to place the name of our organization on the father’s boxing uniform, boxing is his passion. We told them that the only name that should be honored is Jesus Christ. It’s a beautiful gesture knowing their situation and that this is the absolute most they have to offer to show their gratitude.
As Abortion Free New Mexico has plans to increase our sidewalk outreach we have decided to start a “Life Fund.” The Life Fund will serve to meet the financial needs of women that we encounter at local abortion centers that choose life. We want to be prepared the next time a woman needs a hand up paying rent, utility bills, childcare and other miscellaneous needs that often make women feel like an abortion is the only answer.
If you would like to give a special gift you may do so by clicking here. Please use the Abortion Free New Mexico Tab and in the comment box type: “Life Fund”.
Currently in New Mexico pro-life groups primarily rely on state programs to provide financial assistance which take time and don’t meet the emergent needs of women at an abortion center door. Sometimes paying a bill is what saves a life and empowers a hopeless woman in crisis and we want to be a resource for them in this way.
Please pray that the Lord gives us more opportunities to speak to and serve women seeking abortions. Pray also for the Lord to open the hearts of the women that they would view their babies as blessings instead of burdens.
Volunteers are needed Monday-Saturday. To get involved on the sidewalks or in another capacity please fill out our volunteer form here.
Albuquerque, New Mexico- On March 26, the Albuquerque Journal reached out to us and spoke with Tara Shaver, spokeswoman for Abortion Free New Mexico to get our perspective about how the overturning of Roe vs. Wade has impacted pro-life efforts in New Mexico.
For years now, New Mexico has been an abortion magnet because of the horrific and barbaric 3rd trimester abortions that have recently halted. However, Abortion Free New Mexico along with other pro-life groups saw the number of abortions steadily decline year after year. It’s no surprise that with Roe overturned and New Mexico’s extreme Democrat legislature, that abortion facilities are on the rise and out of state women traveling to obtain abortions are a daily sight.
Thankfully, the pro-life community has stepped up in many ways to combat this evil that seeks to overtake our state. Abortion Free New Mexico is grateful that the ABQ Journal was willing to extensively capture and report about the heart of our ministry.
Our efforts were highlighted in two articles featured on the front page of the Albuquerque Journal, Sunday edition (3/26/2023).

As more abortion patients travel to New Mexico, the number of people holding prayer vigils and protests — carrying signs that offer to adopt a baby or quote Bible verses — to try to dissuade people from entering the clinics has grown, too.
Tara Shaver a self-described “pro-life missionary” who founded Abortion Free New Mexico with her husband, Bud Shaver, said the group used to have about 10 or 15 volunteers. Now, she said, they have about 70 and they have established a program to have people out on the sidewalks more regularly.
“It’s interesting to see how New Mexicans have responded in the wake of Roe v. Wade being overturned,” Shaver said. “Of course it kind of puts a fire under people to realize that there’s so much more that needs to be done on a daily basis.”
The volunteers pray and hold signs if they want to — the Shavers offer one that simply says “Pregnant? We can help” and provides a phone number.
“We really just care for these women, we believe that every woman deserves to know the truth and deserves to know that there are other options, viable options, to abortion,” Shaver said. “Women should never feel pressured or put in a corner that abortion is their only option.”
She pointed out that the rate of abortions in the state had been low in the years before Roe was overturned. Data provided to the Journal from the state Department of Health shows a steady decrease from 3,761 in 2011 to 2,618 in 2021, the most recent year for which complete data was available.
As Shaver and her volunteers started seeing more people with Texas license plates in the parking lots of Albuquerque clinics, they began reaching out to those who provide resources in that state in order to offer “positive alternatives to what could be a very traumatic abortion experience.”
Shaver touts two success stories: women who had come to New Mexico in October and November and ended up changing their minds, giving birth to a girl and boy this year.
“To see them now holding their babies is just a reward in and of itself,” Shaver said. “We’re just really happy for the moms and proud of them because they have something to show for their unplanned pregnancy, so to speak, and their crisis situation.”
New Mexico is one of six states plus Washington, D.C., where there are no restrictions on when an abortion can be done during a pregnancy. But the only clinic in the state to provide the procedure after 24 weeks stopped doing so earlier this year.
Among the best known “pro-life missionaries” are Tara and Bud Shaver and their group — now called Abortion Free New Mexico. They moved to New Mexico because of Southwestern Women’s Options.
“Our part whenever we first moved here in 2010 was really to do investigative research and undercover projects and just to kind of paint the picture of what the abortion industry looks like,” Tara Shaver said in an interview last week.
She said they would obtain 911 calls — with personal identifying information redacted — and use them “to show people the kinds of injuries that could occur in an abortion facility.” They have filed complaints to the state Medical Board and succeeded in getting it to launch formal reviews into providers from Southwestern Women’s Options.
Their ranks of volunteers conducting prayer vigils and protests on sidewalks outside of clinics grew after the U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade in June, Shaver said. They document when ambulances come and go.
“We really want to make doing abortions in New Mexico as uncomfortable as possible and we want to document the reality of what’s happening in these places,” Shaver said. “The pro-abortion side says that abortion should be safe, legal and rare. But they’re never safe for the unborn child.”
Shaver called Southwestern Women’s Options pause of abortions after 24 weeks a “small victory, certainly, for the third trimester babies” and said she does not believe there should be any exceptions for fetal abnormalities.
“If their baby has a fetal abnormality then we’re going to be there and support them through the whole process,” she said. “If their baby is not going to survive very long outside the womb at least she’s going to have a chance to hold her baby, bond with him or her and have a chance to meet them as opposed to taking their life prematurely, and always wondering what may have been.”
Now is the best time to get more involved. Please consider partnering with us by being on the frontlines, joining our team of volunteers, or by becoming a monthly donor. Women deserve better than abortion and unborn children should have the right to life outside the womb. We have an unprecedented opportunity to be the hands and feet of Jesus in our community, so we hope you’ll join us!

Albuquerque, New Mexico- For almost one year now, Abortion Free New Mexico’s, No Sidewalk Without the Savior, prayer initiative has brought volunteers to the UNM Center for Reproductive Health (UNMCRH) abortion center each day to be a living witness for life. We may never know the full impact of our presence but we sometimes have women who come and show us their babies years down the road who kept driving the day of their abortion appointment. However, it is moms that we have the privilege of serving and walking alongside in their journey through pregnancy that we celebrate in this article.
We are proud to announce that two of the Texas women that our volunteers worked with have delivered their babies! Two moms are whole today and full of joy, as they bond with their beautiful babies, and this is our living proof that when we pray and make ourselves available, women are empowered to receive the beautiful blessing of motherhood.
Abortion Free New Mexico will routinely get emails with questions like, “Will anyone be on the sidewalk at the abortion clinic?” “My daughter, granddaughter or friend has an abortion appointment” is usually what follows in the correspondence. When a woman is considering having an abortion it impacts so many people, it’s not just the mother’s “choice.” Fathers, grandparents, siblings and other extended family and friends are often wrought with concern over the life of the child and are equally concerned for the well being of the pregnant mom who is sometimes positioned to drive hundreds of miles for an invasively violent abortion procedure.
Here is Ashley’s story: “Will Someone Be There?”
Ashley’s mom emailed Abortion Free New Mexico the day before her daughter’s abortion was scheduled at the UNMCRH abortion center. She desperately wanted to know if anyone would be on the sidewalk to talk with her daughter who had traveled from the Dallas area to end her first pregnancy. After communicating off and on, Tara was given contact information to reach out and see if Ashley would be willing to meet. Thankfully she was willing and they met at around 9:00pm the night before her scheduled appointment.
Upon meeting, Ashley was visibly sad, emotionally detached and seemed hopeless. Ashley shared that she was not with the baby’s father and that she didn’t think the timing was right at this point in her life to have a child because she wasn’t sure which direction to go in. Tara encouraged her to consider that having this baby could be the very thing that could stabilize her and give her life a purpose. Tara also shared all of the risks and real life stories of women who have been harmed by abortion followed by visual proof of what abortion does to children in the womb. Ashley simply needed someone to hear her story and help her see the possibilities and good that could come from having the child that was already living inside of her.
They departed that evening and shortly thereafter, Ashley told Tara on the phone, that she would be choosing life, getting an ultrasound when she returned home to Texas and that she was going to place the baby for adoption.
Ashley later shared that being told about her baby, the pain he/she would endure and seeing what abortion actualy does to children ultimately made her realize that putting her baby through that would haunt her the rest of her life.
On March 9, 2023 Ashley gave birth to a healthy baby boy and she has decided to co-parent with the baby’s father. She is full of joy and has received so much support from her family. She has accepted the beautiful gift of life, to nurture and cherish, even though she initially thought abortion was the only choice for her.
Here is Faith’s Story: “If you Hadn’t Been There…”
One Tuesday morning a gentleman pulled into the parking lot of the UNMCRH abortion center, his eyes locking with a volunteer standing in prayer. As he pulled around to drop Faith off for her appointment he initially felt defensive, but as he drove away leaving Faith behind he started to feel conviction. He went over and spoke with the prayer volunteers and they encouraged him to be a voice for the little one scheduled to die and to be a support person for Faith.
Faith was too far along to get the abortion that day, although in Texas she was told that she was only 15 weeks pregnant, the UNMCRH told her she was 28 weeks. She ended up with a referral for Southwestern Women’s Options and left the clinic to later meet with Abortion Free New Mexico’s volunteers who encouraged her to choose life and not let her fears take control of her life. Her driver also became an instrumental voice for life and they decided to go back to the El Paso area to continue her pregnancy. On February 4, 2023 she gave birth to a beautiful healthy baby girl named Maria de Jesus (Mary and Jesus). Faith and the person who drove her that day are so grateful to have this little one in their lives.
Upon reflection, the driver of the vehicle later told volunteers that even though he felt defensive at first seeing them he realizes now that, “If they hadn’t been there and taken the time to speak with me, Faith most likely would have had the abortion.” He also shared that it was a picture of Jesus that caught his eye out of all the signs posted that day by volunteers.
You Are Vital in the Fight for Life
It is the pregnant moms who were brave enough to speak with us and to choose life that prove our prayerful, visible and vigilant presence on the sidewalk is effective. They are the heroes!
Your prayers and support make all of our efforts possible and it is our amazingly faithful volunteers who stand in the gap each day as the last line of defense for these precious unborn children. Thank you to all who make our work possible and to those who are on the sidewalks each day.

Albuquerque, New Mexico- Due to the increasing number of abortion facilities in Albuquerque, the body of Christ must rise to the occasion to pray and minister to women seeking abortions at these new locations. In response to this, Abortion Free New Mexico is expanding our prayer initiative, “No Sidewalk Without the Savior” to include Alamo Women’s abortion clinic every Saturday!
Alamo Women’s is only open from 9:00AM-1:00PM on Saturdays. To sign up for a one hour prayer slot, click HERE to sign up online.
Alamo Women’s Clinic is a San Antonio based abortion facility that opened a new location in Albuquerque, New Mexico after Roe vs. Wade was overturned. In Albuquerque, Alamo Women’s abortionist and facility owner, Alan Braid, is performing abortions up to 18 weeks of pregnancy. The majority of their clientele is made up of Texas women and they have a list of over 300 organizations on their website that will help pay for these out of state women’s abortions! Some of these abortion fund organizations will pay for a round trip airplane ticket and/or lodging and gas for a woman to travel out of their home state for an abortion.
“Abortion Free New Mexico cares for every woman seeking an abortion, we sympathize with them in their dire situation and we value their pre-born children who are worthy of life outside the womb. Therefore, we must increase our prayerful presence at these places of death, but we can’t do it alone and that’s why we’re asking for your help to fill the Saturday prayer slots. The abortion bound women traveling here from out of state visually need to see that the people of New Mexico are present for them, are praying for them, and willing to help them. Every woman considering an abortion, no matter how far she has travelled, deserves to know that she has positive alternatives to abortion, stated Tara Shaver of Abortion Free New Mexico.”
In addition to Saturday’s at the Alamo Women’s abortion clinic, Abortion Free New Mexico has a vibrant community of volunteers that faithfully pray at the UNM Center for Reproductive Health abortion facility on Monday-Friday from 8am-5pm. There are still open hours for those who do have availability during the week to pray.

“No Sidewalk Without The Savior,” is a ministry effort of Abortion Free New Mexico. We believe in the power of prayer to change hearts and minds, as we reflect the love of Jesus by extending grace and truth, at our city’s darkest and most hopeless places, abortion facilities. When two or more of God’s people gather for prayer, Our Savior is present and is able to light up the darkness and bring hope. Will you join us in shining the light of Christ in our city? Just one hour of your time can save a baby’s life.
Take Action to Stop Chemical Abortions- Saturday’s 2PM-3PM at Two Locations: Albuquerque & Rio Rancho
(February 4th CVS Protest, Albuquerque)
WHY PROTEST?
Walgreens and CVS pharmacies are now dispensing the chemical abortion drug- Mifepristone. Mifepristone is the first of the two pills used in a chemical abortion. The drug works by cutting off nutrients necessary for a fetus to continue developing. The second drug, misoprostol, is taken 24 to 48 hours later and induces contractions that expel the dead unborn child.
Rio Rancho Location Date: Saturdays Time: 2Pm to 3PM Location: TBD Contact: Gwen- 505-366-4494 (Landline)

TAKE ACTION:
1. Here’s the call to action– If you purchase your prescriptions at CVS or Walgreens—TELL your local pharmacy that you are no longer patronizing the store and tell them why. You can make a copy of one of the articles below—see links—and give the pharmacy manager a copy of the article. And of course URGE that the particular pharmacy make a decision to NOT be one of the stores that WILL dispense the killer drugs.
Albuquerque, New Mexico- Abortion Free New Mexico has confirmed that the notorious Southwestern Women’s Options abortion facility is no longer performing third trimester abortions. Citing staff shortages and overwhelming clientele from out of state, they are now referring to other abortion facilities in Colorado, Maryland and Washington D.C.
Southwestern Women’s Options is the abortion facility where the late Carmen Landau specialized in providing third trimester abortions. Her sudden death is presumably in part the reason for this abrupt change.
Southwestern Women’s Options is, however, still offering abortion pills in clinic, and by mail, as well as first and second trimester abortions through 23.6 weeks of pregnancy. This means that Albuquerque currently has two abortion facilities that offer abortions up to six months of pregnancy, Southwestern Women’s Options and the University of New Mexico Center for Reproductive Health.
Tara Shaver, spokeswoman for Abortion Free New Mexico issued the following statement,
Since 2010 Abortion Free New Mexico has worked to see the day when Curtis Boyd and Southwestern Women’s Options would no longer give New Mexico the reputation of being the late-term abortion capital of the nation. After years of public exposure, relentless pressure and lots of prayer, t
hat day has finally come. This is a small victory, especially for third trimester babies, that Southwestern Women’s Options is no longer equipped to kill. Every abortion is a tragedy because it takes a human life but late-term abortions are particularly disturbing because they are performed on viable babies in the latest stages of pregnancy. We hope and pray that this is just the beginning of the end of all abortions in our state and we will keep fighting to be a voice for unborn children and to help women choose life with compassionate life affirming resources.”
Albuquerque, New Mexico- In the wake of Roe vs. Wade being overturned, the Satanic Temple is the latest group that has expressed their intention to expand abortion services in New Mexico.
For its new facility, the temple said anyone in New Mexico seeking to perform its abortion ritual will be able to receive online medical services free of charge. Patients undergo a screening and virtual appointment before having their prescriptions sent to the clinic’s pharmacy partner, who will mail the medications in a discreet package, it said.
Since Roe vs. Wade was overturned on June 24, 2022, two abortion facilities have set up shop in New Mexico, one in Las Cruces and one in Albuquerque, New Mexico. This brings the total number of active abortion facilities in New Mexico to nine with at least four others (including (1) the “virtual” Satanic Temple clinic and (2) a $10 million dollar facility pledged by New Mexico Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham) expressing the desire to provide abortions in New Mexico.
(3) On December 7, 2022 Whole Woman’s Health announced that it had purchased a building in (Albuquerque) New Mexico and plans to provide abortion services.
Whole Woman’s Health is grateful to announce that we have purchased a building and we will soon offer a full range of abortion and sexual health care in New Mexico.”
(4) Valley Abortion Group, founded by Carmen Landau, announced its intention to open a facility in New Mexico to provide abortions at all gestational ages. However, it is uncertain if their plans to open a new late-term abortion clinic in Albuquerque will succeed after the recent sudden death of abortionist Carmen Landau.
Valley Abortion Group will be the first 100% employee-owned, majority-BIPOC, women- and nonbinary-led abortion care facility in the US. We are a group of practitioners who are local to New Mexico, who have worked as a team for years. We provide expert, compassionate abortion care at all gestational ages.”
Tara Shaver, spokeswoman for Abortion Free New Mexico issued the following statement,
The Satanic Temple is, unfortunately, the latest group to capitalize on New Mexico’s abortion extremism. Satanists, extreme feminists and progressive Democrats are opening our state to the worst elements of society. Not only is New Mexico a destination for abortion tourism, it is now the destination for ‘religious abortion rituals’. It’s a sobering reality that the leaders of this state, who continue to push their radical pro-abortion agenda upon the people, have made an alliance with sinister forces.
In stark contrast to the pro-death agenda being foisted upon New Mexico, the pro-life community is working to empower women, protect children and build a culture of life.”

The Governor Wants to Use Your Tax Money to Build an Abortion Clinic
In herState of the State speech, Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham stated she wants to use $10 million of taxpayer dollars to build an abortion clinic in southern New Mexico. This facility would allow abortions in any term of pregnancy, even abortions up to birth!
In light of abortion restrictions in neighboring states, the proposed clinic is already being touted as a potential magnet for those seeking abortions from other states. Do we really need to be paying for abortions for people from other states?
New Mexico currently has 2 communities that don’t even have an OBGYN! The money could be used there for real healthcare for these women. We need every New Mexican who cherishes life to speak out boldly against this proposal.

NM Attorney General Sues Sanctuary Cities and Counties
On January 23rd, KOAT Action 7 News reported that New Mexico Attorney General Raul Torrez filed an emergency petition with the New Mexico Supreme Court to “push back” and essentially sue the Board of County Commissioners for Lea and Roosevelt Counties as well as the City of Clovis and Hobbs for the ordinances they have put into law to protect their cities from the grisly abortion industry.
Torrez is quoted as stating that,
“This, ladies and gentlemen, is not Texas. In this state, a woman’s right to choose is guaranteed by the New Mexico Constitution.”
New Mexico is not Texas, but New Mexicans could certainly learn from Texas’ actions to make abortion illegal since every abortion kills a human being.
It’s important to note that counties and cities independently have the authority to decide whether or not to permit the sale of alcohol and whether to restrict the sale of cannabis – both, ostensibly for health reasons, so why should they not be permitted to restrict the taking of a human life within their jurisdictions? Will the New Mexico Supreme Court recognize their authority to protect unborn childrens lives?
These localities will ultimately have the opportunity to appeal the AG’s actions and Abortion Free New Mexico stands with these leaders to be able to protect their citizens, born and unborn.
