    Albuquerque, New Mexico- As 2020 comes to a close, we would like to thank you for helping us to finish strong! This past week Michelle Garcia Holmes for Congress (CD1), Dinah Vargas for NM House of Representatives (District 10) and Tara Shaver of Abortion Free New Mexico testified during the final UNM Board of Regents meeting of 2020 which also included UNM President Garnet Stokes.

    They asked this governing body to immediately remove the “Heroes Work Here” banner, and for UNM to close down their late term abortion facility (UNMCRH) because the intentional taking of an innocent person’s life should never be associated with our state’s flagship university’s policies or mission. Please pray that UNM leadership will take action to become an institution that values all life.

    The 2020 Election is Not Over Yet!

    Michelle Garcia Holmes has filed a lawsuit funded by the Republican Party of New Mexico to validate the votes cast in Congressional District 1. As a result, all of the ballots cast have been impounded and are currently being examined after several allegations were raised over potential voter fraud in the 2020 election. This has the potential to overturn not only her race, but also other Republican state district races in Bernalillo County, Valencia County and a portion of Sandoval County!

    An interesting development is materializing that may give Michelle Garcia Holmes a special election and another opportunity to represent us and our values in the United States Congress…

    What does this mean if Deb Haaland joins (worst-case scenario) a Biden administration? Michelle Garcia Holmes will get a special election and the opportunity to run AGAIN against another Democrat opponent!

    FLASHBACK: Bill Redmond won his congressional seat in a special election after losing to Bill Richardson in 1996. Three months later, Richardson resigned to become United States Ambassador to the United Nations. Bill Redmond was a candidate in the special election for the balance of Richardson’s term. He was initially considered an underdog, but won by 3,000 votes.

    President Donald Trump has also filed a lawsuit in New Mexico regarding ballot drop boxes that may have been used illegally in New Mexico during the 2020 election.

    According to the Pinon Post,

    “The lawsuit focused on “drop boxes” for the deposit of absentee ballots and alleged fraud that occurred. The suit claims Democrat Secretary of State Maggie Toulouse Oliver created an election that was not constitutional.”

    In addition, President Donald Trump has also filed an IPRA request for information on Dominion equipment used in New Mexico election!

    ​Also, in another amazing turn of events, New Mexico was one of 7 states that submitted dueling electors to the Electoral College on December 14th. By doing so, this has the potential to invalidate Joe Biden’s claims to the presidency. On January 6th the official results will be certified. By submitting dueling electors in these 7 states, it creates a challenge that must be resolved in Congress where Vice President Mike Pence will preside over in the United States Senate that may give President Donald Trump a path to victory and re-election!

    This election has caused us to pause and reflect on our 10 years of ministry in New Mexico. When we moved here a decade ago, our mission was uniquely focused to oppose late term abortion and expose New Mexico as the, “Late Term Abortion Capital” a designation we coined back in 2010 when we moved here after interning with Operation Rescue. 

    Our ministry efforts over the past 10 years  ironically can best be summarized by The New Mexico Political Report, (a subsidiary of Progress Now New Mexico):

    “New Mexico for nearly a decade has been the declared ‘mission field’ for some of the country’s most strident activists opposed to abortion. Bud and Tara Shaver, an activist couple with ties to Operation Rescue, relocated to Albuquerque in 2010 upon invitation from Father Stephen Imbarrato, a Catholic Priest.
    ​
    The Shavers publicly labeled Albuquerque the ‘late-term abortion capital of the world,’ centering many of their networked efforts on the University of New Mexico and the medical practice of abortion provider Southwest Women’s Options. With a stated goal of making New Mexico ‘abortion-free,’ the Shavers have continued to work with Imbarrato, whose rhetoric and activism overlaps theirs in both urgency and focus.”

    Politics in New Mexico when we moved here, was characterized by those running for office not wanting to make abortion a major campaign issue, and once elected, an even more neglected priority. We have worked tirelessly the past 10 years to remedy this political travesty. Our efforts on this front, can best be summarized by this Cosmopolitan article regarding our efforts to solidify the dismal legacy of republican Governor Susana Martinez who took office in 2010 the year we moved here.

    After ten years of “crying out in the wilderness” for political leadership to take a bold stand against abortion, our cries finally reached the heart of one political party in New Mexico in the 2020 election. Opposing late term abortion became a primary focus of the Republican Party both nationally and locally, in fact, Republican candidates in New Mexico vowed to work to end late-term abortion when elected. Even the state’s largest newspaper, The Albuquerque Journal used this issue as a litmus test for the US Congressional candidates, asking each of them this question, 

    • “Do you favor or oppose limits on late-term abortion, and do you believe tax dollars should or should not be used to fund abortions?”

    All of these facts have proved to us that we have been effective in changing the narrative in New Mexico politics. In spite of dismal election day results for local legislative races here in New Mexico (likely due to election fraud), the tide has certainly changed and the preservation of life has become a central theme.

    Each local candidate that we had the privilege to work with on the campaign trail gave it their all and worked every political strategy to ensure a better New Mexico. They did what has never been done before and presented voters with a choice. The choice was for freedom over government control, life instead of death and real solutions to improve the lives of all New Mexicans.

    Thank you for standing with us as we have also given it our all to stand with godly candidates for a better New Mexico during this election cycle. We were blessed to meet so many new people, support the candidates with door to door efforts, organizing campaign mailers and so much more. We do all that we can and leave the rest up to the voters and to the Lord. What happens next for us and for this state is truly in His hands.

    Elections Have Consequences

    The statement “elections have consequences” could not be more true as we await the conclusion of the 2020 election in New Mexico and across the nation. As President Trump mounts a legal challenge to the overwhelming treasonous election fraud, New Mexico has also been implicated.

    According to Rudy Giuliani, Attorney for President Donald J. Trump, 

    “The state that we’re looking at that would surprise you is—we have a very, very significant amount of fraud allegations in the state of New Mexico.” 

    Now that our elections have gone big tech with voter machines tabulating our votes, Dominion Voting Systems has gained national scrutiny as another attorney, Sidney Powell, has made alarming allegations regarding this vote tabulating system, 

    “One of (Dominion’s) most characteristic features is its ability to flip votes. It can set and run an algorithm that probably ran all over the country to take a certain percentage of votes from President Trump and flip them to President Biden.” 

    Low and behold, according to the Pinon Post, 

    “New Mexico uses Dominion Voting Systems to tabulate votes, the same software which has “glitched” in states like Michigan that changed thousands of Republican votes in swing districts to Democrat. It is unclear if similar irregularities happened in New Mexico elections, as just minutes after the polls closed at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 3, Joe Biden was prematurely declared the winner of New Mexico, despite zero votes being counted yet.” 

    One response to the massive voter fraud that has come to light in the aftermath of the November 3rd election, organic “Stop The Steal” protests have been organized across the country. On Saturday, November 7, 2020 Bud joined Fr. Stephen Imbarrato: The Protest Priest at the Roundhouse in Santa Fe along with Cowboys For Trump, Bikers For Trump and hundreds of fellow patriots to protest the open treason being conducted by anti American, anti-God, anti-Life forces determined to steal this election and to destroy our state and country.

    According to the Santa Fe New Mexican, 

    “Some with guns and rosaries, protesters screamed claims of election fraud in New Mexico and across the country. Members of both Cowboys For Trump and Bikers For Trump also spoke, as did anti-abortion and Second Amendment activists.” 

    UNM Petition Is Striking A Nerve

    Abortion Free New Mexico launched an online petition campaign four months ago demanding that the University of New Mexico take down the offensive, “Heroes Work Here Banner.” This month we recieved a call from UNM Medical Group stating that due to the massive numbers of emails they are receiving it is overwhelming their inboxes and disrupting their email services internally! The tech department asked us to update the contact for our online petition and direct our concerns to the Communications Director of the UNM Medical Group.

    • Your voice is being heard loud and clear and is obviously striking a nerve!

The UNM Center for Reproductive Health performs late term abortions through 6 months gestation!

    The University of New Mexico is an institution of higher learning, in addition to removing the “Heroes Work Here” banner, our hope is that UNM will disassociate the university from this facility because the intentional taking of an innocent person’s life should never be associated with our university’s policies or mission.”…. ​

    The month of October has been very productive and eventful. We are so blessed to serve as pro-life missionaries in a place where the gospel of Christ and a culture of life is so desperately needed. The goal of our ministry is to make New Mexico Abortion Free and supporting pro-life candidates helps us to reach that goal. 

    For over 90 years the democrat party has dominated our state and as a result New Mexico ranks last on every good list and first on all of the bad lists of national rankings. Thankfully, over 101 candidates are running who support our values and are putting their principles first. These candidates are finally giving New Mexicans a choice at the ballot box.

    Jacob Candelaria, who has been an unopposed Democrat Senator for 12 years in Senate District 26, best illustrates the entitled mentality of the average democrat politician who has never faced a republican challenger. His campaign imploded spectacularly this month! Here are some highlights:

    “Senator Candeleria’s childish and self-important behavior is unbecoming of the New Mexico Senate,”New Mexico GOP Chairman, Steve Pearce said in the statement.

    Candelaria is vying for reelection to his West Albuquerque district against Republican challenger Manuel Lardizabal, who is running a tough-on-crime campaign that highlights his opposition to abortion and support for government austerity.

    Pray for our friend Manny Lardizabal (who was one of the first people we met 10 years ago when we first moved to Albuquerque) to win his race on November 3, 2020. If Manny can pull it off with God’s favor, it will be one of the biggest upsets to the Progressive Democratic Party’s stranglehold on New Mexico!

    Project Weak Link New Mexico

    According to the abortion industry’s own experts, medical waste companies such as New Mexico Waste Recovery are the abortion industry’s weak link. The abortion industry is on record stating that, “We are all one incinerator away, or one incineration company away, from being closed.”  

    Abortion Free New Mexico is partnering with Created Equal to expose New Mexico Waste Recovery, the medical waste disposal company that is enabling the largest late-term abortion facility in the nation, Southwestern Women’s Options, located in Albuquerque, NM. In a recorded phone call to Chris Morton, Owner of New Mexico Waste Recovery, Tara Shaver gives him a chance to hear our perspective. 

    We are Turning New Mexico Red!

    This month leading up to election day has by far been the busiest campaign season for us yet. We’ve had the privilege to organize volunteers, mailers and have spent time at voting locations during early in person voting.

    Pictured above our family helped candidates Dinah Vargas HD13 and Lisa Meyer-Hagen SD12 to put up signs and by going door to door. Pictured below, we did the same for our friend Manny Lardizabal and have also utilized our truth truck in his district at voting locations.

    We also put up signs and knocked on hundreds of doors for Kayla Marshall running in HD13. Below, we are outside the Hispanics for Trump office getting more literature. We need every seat to turn red on election day to ensure a super majority so that pro-life legislation has a chance of passing during the legislative sessions in 2021 and 2022.

    As pro-life missionaries we have prayed with and for the candidates as well as helped them to reach voters in their districts. We need this win for an Abortion Free New Mexico and we are hopeful that New Mexicans are ready to change the direction of our state. It’s time to stop being the late-term abortion capital of the world and dead last on every good list. 

    40 Days For Life

    This month we stood with our friends from Holy Child Parish in Tijeras for their assigned 40 Days for Life prayer day. Planned Parenthood is the nation’s largest abortion provider and operates 2 killing centers in New Mexico. 

    Please join us in praying that these two centers are closed and that moms will daily choose life for their babies.

    Pre-Election Prayer Vigil at the New Mexico Capitol

    Abortion Free New Mexico was asked to co-host a prayer vigil at the Santa Fe roundhouse, less than two weeks before election day. On October 24th we gathered with about 40 others who travelled from Gallup, NM to cover the capitol in prayer. 

    After many months of campaigning it was time to saturate our leaders, our current pro-life candidates and our state in prayer.

    This month we also joined Michelle Garcia Holmes at the amazing South Valley church, Praise and Worship Center, to share about how important this election is. The sleeping giant, that is the church, must rise up and vote on November 3rd across this nation. Reports of victories coming next month…

    Election day, on November 3rd, is right around the corner. We have been working tirelessly to help candidates during this final stretch. As you know, this election is incredibly important and will not only determine which way our nation will be led, but it will determine whether or not New Mexicans will finally be free from the bondage of the democrat party. For 90 years one party has called the shots and as a result New Mexico is dead last on every good list of national rankings. We are ready for New Mexico to rise above its dismal statistics to a thriving land of hope and life. Thank you for all you are doing and for standing with us in this battle for a better New Mexico.

    Today was the last (recommended) day to mail in your absentee ballot. (After today it’s best to hand deliver it to a polling location)

    Manuel “Manny” Lardizabal for New Mexico Senate District 26 was introduced at all 3 services this Sunday at Legacy Church located in his district. Legacy Church is the second largest Evangelical Church in the entire state of New Mexico. Manny received a standing ovation! 

    Over the weekend, Manny’s opponent, Jacob Candelaria (D-Albuquerque), known for his far-left extremism, took to Twitter to bully citizens peacefully protesting Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham’s public health orders in Santa Fe, as well as others on a variety of issues. 

    Michelle Garcia Holmes for US Congress (CD1) has run a very strong campaign to defeat Deb Haaland on election day. She was endorsed by the Albuquerque Journal, over her incumbent opponent, because she is the right candidate for the right time. Currently she is running a NEW campaign ad on TV this week.

    Lisa Meyer-Hagen for Senate District 12 has a great campaign video out as well and has run a very good targeted campaign in her district. Lisa’s Senate district overlaps with Dinah Vargas’s House district and is home to 2 abortion facilities, UNM Center for Reproductive Health (UNMCRH) and Southwestern Women’s Options!

    Dinah Vargas for House of Representatives District 10 has been joining us EVERY Friday for Faith To Action Friday. The University of New Mexico late-term abortion facility (UNMCRH) is located in her district and she is committed to working to close it permanently when she is elected! In fact, she made a campaign video this past Friday with our Faith To Action Friday family.

    As November 3rd draws near we want to make sure you have all of the important election information that you need. Today is the last day to register to vote online or update your registration with a voter registration agent. You can do both here.

    Today, early voting has begun at one location in Albuquerque (1500 Lomas Blvd. NW, 87104) and tomorrow absentee ballots will begin hitting mailboxes. If you would like to vote absentee you can still request your ballot by clicking here.

    Early in person voting will begin on Saturday, October 17th and ends on October 31st. You can find the Bernalillo County voting locations here. Election Day is November 3rd, Bernalillo County locations here.

    We are doing everything we can to turn New Mexico Red in 2020. 

    This week our family is going door to door in the final election stretch and putting up yard signs around town for some of our friends who are Respect New Mexico candidates.     Dear Friends,

    We hope that September was a very blessed month for you and your family. This month has been fruitful as we continue to work several strategies to make New Mexico Abortion Free.

    One thing that struck us this month was just how far New Mexico has come over the last 10 years of our ministry. As we listened to candidates speak this month about their passion for life and the realization that until we address the abortion crisis our state is facing that nothing else will change. It confirmed for us that our work to educate and inspire others on the issue of abortion, is helping to transform New Mexico in many other relevant ways as candidates are stepping up to build every component of the culture of life.

    Sometimes it is hard work and frustrating in the moment but we are now witnessing how important perseverance truly is. We really have the opportunity to change the direction of the late term abortion capital of the nation so that babies and their mothers are protected from the brutality of abortion.

    Thank you for standing with us as we serve New Mexico as pro-life missionaries. Everything we do helps us to get closer to our goal of an abortion free state. You are a blessing and together we are a stronger voice for the Lord and His precious children.

    A perfect storm created by formal medical and nursing board complaints filed against abortionist Franz Theard and his clinic manager, Gloria Martinez, in addition to Texas deeming abortions non-essential, has caused Hill Top Women’s Reproductive Clinic, an abortion facility in El Paso, TX to close its doors for good!

    Exactly one year ago (September of 2019) Abortion Free New Mexico announced Hill Top as the weak link of the abortion cartel in New Mexico. Franz Theard, an abortionist of 36 years, has dominated the borderland region of New Mexico and Texas with his abortion businesses in El Paso, TX and right across the border in Santa Theresa, NM. While his New Mexico facility will remain open, it is an answer to prayer and the fruit of a lot of hard work done by the pro-life community, that his El Paso facility will no longer be killing innocent children.

    Hitting The Streets, Mobilizing Districts Throughout Albuquerque, To Get Out The Vote for Pro-Life Candidates and President Trump.

    This month we went door to door in an area of Albuquerque, that overlaps for pro-life candidates Dinah Vargas for HD10, Lisa Meyer-Hagen for SD12,  Michelle Garcia Holmes for Congress CD1 and the conservative judges. These NM House and Senate Districts are home to Southwestern Women’s Options the nation’s largest late-term abortion mill and the UNM Center for Reproductive Health the UNM’s tax funded abortion mill. By flipping these crucial seats in November, it will have the greatest impact of building a culture of Life in New Mexico.

    Tara continues to plan district meetings across Albuquerque to help mobilize get out the vote efforts for several pro-life candidates. Getting our base to the polls is crucial on November 3rd.

    The “Women For Trump” get out the vote bus stopped in New Mexico, one of only 10 states visited during the tour. President Trump has invested so much into our state and his team is mobilized with statewide door to door and several other get out the vote efforts that are sure to turn New Mexico RED!

    Press Conference: Sign The Petition, UNM Take Down That Banner 

    Abortion Free New Mexico will be held a press conference this month,September 11th at 10:30am at the UNM Center for Reproductive Health located at 2301 Yale Blvd. SE. Local candidates including the Garcia Holmes for Congress campaign, Dinah Vargas for House District 10, and  Manuel Lardizabal for Senate District 26 will spoke and called for the University of New Mexico (UNM) to remove the “Heroes Work Here” banner from their free-standing abortion facility. This banner was placed on the building within the last few months as abortions were deemed essential services in New Mexico.

    “The banner that currently hangs at the University of New Mexico’s free-standing abortion clinic is simply promoting a falsehood that abortionists are heroes. Just the opposite is true, abortionists have betrayed true medicine and take innocent lives everyday. Join us in contacting UNM President Garnett S. Stokes, UNM Medical Group and the UNM Regents by signing our online petition. When you do, an email will be sent to them requesting that the banner be removed. This is a small step in letting leadership at UNM know that the pro-life community expects more from the states flagship university,” stated Tara Shaver spokeswoman for Abortion Free New Mexico.

    The petition reads in part, ​

    “We the People of New Mexico, citizens, taxpayers, University of New Mexico Alumni, are disgusted that the University of New Mexico, our state’s flagship institution, has publicly deemed abortionists heroes by means of a banner attached to one of its buildings with the message “Heroes Work Here”. This facility is located at 2301 Yale SE in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Heroes do not work at abortion clinics.

    For an abortion facility, whose main purpose is to take life, to blatantly compare itself to hospital medical staff caring for COVID-19 patients is shocking and insulting. We do have medical heroes, saving lives every day while risking their own safety and well-being, however, they are not working at this abortion clinic. The UNM Center for Reproductive Health performs late term abortions through 6 months gestation!

    The University of New Mexico is an institution of higher learning, in addition to removing the “Heroes Work Here” banner, our hope is that UNM will disassociate the university from this facility because the intentional taking of an innocent person’s life should never be associated with our university’s policies or mission.”…. ​

    National Day of Remembrance for Aborted Children Recap

    On Saturday, September 12, 2020 at the burial location of two aborted babies, Ryan and Eve, 70 participants in Albuquerque, NM gathered for a time to remember and honor the victims of abortion throughout our nation. 

    This annual event was sponsored by Abortion Free New Mexico, and those in attendance were blessed to hear from passionate speakers such as Michelle Garcia Holmes for CD1, Lisa Meyer-Hagen for SD12, Dinah Vargas for HD10 and Mary Ingham for SD14.

    These women are such an inspiration and an answer to prayer for godly leaders to rise up in New Mexico.

    Correction: New Mexico Taxpayers Funded 5,889 Abortions At $791,106.50 From 2017-2019

    Albuquerque, New Mexico- On August 18, 2020, Abortion Free New Mexico published a report detailing information obtained from the New Mexico Department of Human Services related to Medicaid funded abortions in New Mexico from 2017 through 2019. In the report, we identified Dr. Steven Gough as the medical director for Women’s Specialists of New Mexico and reported that he had performed 8 abortions between 2017 and 2019.

    Dr. Gough has contacted us and states that two of the statements contained in our article are incorrect. Dr. Gough tells us that he is neither the medical director of Women’s Specialists of New Mexico, nor has he performed any abortions. 

    • Dr. Gough’s official title according to the Women’s Specialists of New Mexico website is, Medical Director (Cosmetics), – Physician.

    We are happy to learn that Dr. Gough does not perform abortions. Apparently, the Medicaid information provided by the state was incorrect, and we apologize to Dr. Gough for the error.

    As a result, we are also following up with a request for additional information from the New Mexico Department of Human Services to ensure that this does not occur in the future.

    NEW MEXICO TAXPAYERS FUNDED 5,889 ABORTIONS AT A STAGGERING $791,106.50 FROM 2017-2019

    Newly obtained Medicaid data by Abortion Free New Mexico reveals that from 2017-2019 state tax payers paid $791,106.50 for 5,889 abortions. The data was acquired through a public records request and also includes the names of 94 doctors, midwives and nurses who were paid by the state for the procedures. In addition to free-standing abortion facilities, nine hospitals were also paid for abortions through New Mexico Medicaid.

    New Mexico is one 16 states that uses state tax dollars to fully fund abortions, because of the supreme court ruling in New Mexico Right to Choose/NARAL v. Johnson. The court ruled, in part, that the life of the unborn child is not compelling enough to outweigh the special interest of the mother. For this reason, New Mexicans are forced to foot the bill for low income women who qualify for New Mexico Medicaid and choose to have an abortion. It is a reality that infuriates many people of faith and conscience who would rather see their hard earned money used to promote life and provide legitimate help and resources to low income women with unplanned pregnancies.

    Bud Shaver of Abortion Free New Mexico issued the following statement,

    “New Mexico tax payers should be outraged that our hard earned tax money from 2017-2019 was spent to fund 5,889 abortions at a staggering cost of $791,106.50! American’s fought to gain our independence from tyrants in 1776, in part, due to taxation (of 3 pence per pound on tea) without equal representation. How much more egregious is it that our tax dollars are being used to fund the killing of innocent children without our ability to refuse? The New Mexico Supreme Court ruling, New Mexico Right to Choose/NARAL v. Johnson foisted a tyrannical precedent upon the tax payers of New Mexico without any due recourse to remedy this unjust burden. Furthermore, with New Mexico ranked as one of the poorest states in the country, surely there are better ways that New Mexico tax dollars could be spent to help low income mothers rise up out of poverty then simply providing them with abortions. Instead of providing reasonable solutions, the New Mexico Supreme Court, unfortunately, has misappropriated our tax dollars to eliminate poor children through Medicaid funded abortions.”

    Dishonorable Mentions

    Southwestern Women’s Options, Albuquerque’s late term abortion facility, where abortions are performed through all nine months of pregnancy received the most money $340,773.61 out of the five abortion facilities in the state. Southwestern Women’s Options employs abortionists Shelley Sella who received $147,697.50 and Carmen Laundau who received $102,874.50 both of whom are at the top of the list in terms of abortion numbers and payments received. Sella is a resident of California who travels to New Mexico to abort babies in the latest stages of pregnancy. Landau lives in New Mexico, but received her medical degree from Communist Cuba. Abortionists at Southwestern Women’s Options performed 1,957 Medicaid funded abortions, each one representing a innocent child’s life. 

    The University of New Mexico- UNM, which has its own off-campus free standing abortion facility, received the second highest payments totaling $300,858.91 but actually performed 2,686 abortions, which was 729 moreabortions than Southwestern Women’s Options during the same three year period. The data showed many medical doctors that were affiliated with UNM, presumably residents, who have since moved on from New Mexico and now practice in other states. This confirms what Abortion Free New Mexico has stated for years, that UNM is at the heart of the New Mexico abortion cartel. Their abortion training and residency training programs are a catalyst for what the abortion industry hopes will be responsible for raising up the next generation of abortion providers. 

    Thankfully, the numbers of abortion providers continues to be on the decline. Not every OB-GYN doctor is willing to betray true medicine by offering abortions in their offices.

    Planned Parenthood, which is the nations largest abortion provider, was next in line performing 761 abortions and receiving $67,408.98. Vivianne Clark, a registered nurse and Lucia Cies, who closed her private abortion practice in 2011, appear to be the primary abortion providers of the Planned Parenthood facilities that are located in Santa Fe and Albuquerque. 

    The Women’s Specialists of New Mexico practitioners that  were reimbursed for 73 medicaid funded abortion procedures in addition to the physicians affiliated with Lovelace Medical group were the most surprising. One doctor alone at Lovelace, Regan Riley performed 70 abortions! Lovelace has been known to be more pro-life friendly and many were under the impression that abortions were not performed in their facilities. This medicaid data proves otherwise and should be cause for concern in the pro-life community. 

    • Franz Theard’s [Hill Top] Women’s Reproductive Clinic in Santa Teresa, NM did not appear in this Medicaid report because they are a cash only abortion clinic and do not accept Medicaid clients.

    Here are the hospitals where abortions occurred and their abortion totals:

    1. UNM Hospital (161)
    2. Lovelace Health System (86)
    3. Holy Cross Medical Center Taos, NM who employs Rameet Singh who alone performed (85)
    4. Northern Navajo Medical Center- Shiprock, NM (38)
    5. Miners Colfax Medical Center- Raton, NM (8)
    6. Presbyterian Hospital (7) 
    7. Gila Regional Medical Center Silver City NM (3)
    8. Alta Vista Regional Hospital, Las Vegas, NM (1) 
    9. Clovis Plains Regional Medical Center (1)
    • In addition to hospitals, several midwives are performing abortions throughout New Mexico violating their mission to help mothers bring their babies into the world safely.
    • There were doctors that are not licensed to practice in New Mexico, from Colorado, Wyoming and the furthest coming in from New York who were reimbursed by New Mexico Medicaid for abortions they performed. 

    Abortion Numbers Statewide Are On The Decline 

    Over the course of the three year period, abortions that were covered by New Mexico Medicaid did decline each year. In 2017, there were 2,285 performed. In 2018, the number dropped to 2,109 and in 2019 was the steepest drop with 1,495 abortions that Medicaid covers. Tax payers can only hope that the numbers continue to decrease as more women choose life for their babies.

    New Mexico tax payers deserve to know how their tax dollars are used as well as which practitioners in the community are willing to provide abortions. Each abortion takes a child’s life and this report should encourage the pro-life community to be even more diligent in working to build a culture of life in New Mexico.

    Breaking: Hill Top Abortion Facility Closes in the Wake of Complaints and COVID Shutdown

    Albuquerque, New Mexico- A perfect storm created by formal medical and nursing board complaints filed against abortionist Franz Theard and his clinic manager, Gloria Martinez, in addition to Texas deeming abortions non-essential, has caused Hill Top Women’s Reproductive Clinic, an abortion facility in El Paso, TX to close its doors for good. Southwest Coalition for Life announced this weekend that after many months of seeing hints at the facilities closure, they have confirmed that Hill Top Women’s Reproductive Clinic of El Paso is for sale and will not reopen. 

    Exactly one year ago (September of 2019) Abortion Free New Mexico announced Hill Top as the weak link of the abortion cartel in New Mexico. Franz Theard, an abortionist of 36 years, has dominated the borderland region of New Mexico and Texas with his abortion businesses in El Paso, TX and right across the border in Santa Theresa, NM. While his New Mexico facility will remain open, it is an answer to prayer and the fruit of a lot of hard work done by the pro-life community, that his El Paso facility will no longer be killing innocent children.

    For years, Theard has utilized his Santa Theresa, New Mexico location to circumvent Texas abortion laws by directing minors to obtain abortions without their parents knowledge across state lines. Abortion Free New Mexico exposed this with documentation obtained by an undercover investigation and recorded phone calls.

    Abortion Free New Mexico’s investigations brought much scrutiny to Hill Top and prompted further investigations into these abortion businesses on both sides of the border. In another undercover investigation conducted by Abortion Free New Mexico it was discovered that Gloria Martinez, a registered nurse was performing illegal medical abortions. This was being done in defiance of Texas laws that state that only licensed physicians may perform abortion procedures, both medical and surgical. The formal complaint filed against Gloria Martinez with the The Texas Board of Nursing, by Abortion Free New Mexico, is currently ongoing.

    Southwest Coalition for Life filed a separate Texas medical board complaint against Franz Theard in March of this year for circumventing Governor Greg Abbott’s order that deemed abortions non-essential. After Hill Top in El Paso could no longer operate, Theard was seen moving his surgical abortion machine across state lines to his New Mexico clinic. He subsequently injured a woman during an abortion procedure and she was taken to a Texas hospital for emergent care.

    One Year Ago This Month

    Abortion Free New Mexico was blessed to travel to Santa Theresa, NM and El Paso, TX last September for a public awareness campaign to expose Franz Theard and Hill Top’s grisly abortion business. Pictured below.

    In addition to a public presence on the ground in El Paso, TX and Santa Teresa, NM Abortion Free New Mexico mailed over 2,000 postcards throughout the two borderland communities letting them them know about Franz Theard’s double life as an abortionist and OBGYN doctor delivering babies at TWO local hospitals!

    “The closure of Hill Top Women’s Reproductive Clinic in Texas can only be attributed to the relentless efforts of the borderland pro-life community, with whom Abortion Free New Mexico was thankful to collaborate with, as well as the mounting pressure of two formal Texas complaints filed against Theard and his clinic manager Gloria Martinez. This compounded with the actions of both the Texas Governor and Lieutenant Governor to deem abortion clinics non-essential highlights how perseverance, formal complaints and strong political leadership matters and can permanently shut down abortion clinics and save lives,” stated Tara Shaver, spokeswoman for Abortion Free New Mexico.

    Unfortunately, due to New Mexico’s lack of accountability by state agencies and the fact that the New Mexico Governor has deemed abortion facilities essential, Franz Theard has moved his abortion business across the border from Texas into New Mexico and will continue to kill babies until the leadership in New Mexico drastically changes.

Over 200 supporters greeted the “Women For Trump” campaign bus as it stopped in Albuquerque on Wednesday on its way through New Mexico which is one 10 states that the Women For Trump Bus is visiting in an effort to flip them Red and elect Donald J. Trump on election day November 3rd.

    “I believe the Senate has put together a very good package,” said Michelle Garcia Holmes, a former police detective who is running against first-term U.S. Rep. Debra Haaland in the 1st Congressional District the encompasses Albuquerque. “I think it’s time to start getting the American people back to work and start moving forward and jump back in to Trump’s economy.”

    The political rally was part of a three-day tour by Garcia Holmes and other GOP political candidates and officials in a pink bus emblazoned with the slogan “Women for Trump.”

    The Associated Press reported back on September 10, 2018,

    “The Albuquerque Journal reports Tara and Bud Shaver, of Abortion Free New Mexico, asked Dr. Paul Roth, chancellor of the University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center, to transfer 72 ‘aborted baby remains’ to an Albuquerque mortuary “so that they may receive a proper burial. Roth told the Shaver group that he couldn’t agree to turn over the “tissue,” which was anonymously donated by women who sought abortion care at an “outside facility.”

    Unfortunately, the University of New Mexico did not see humanity in these children and refused to allow us to give them a resting place.

    It is heartbreaking to realize that abortion victims are often simply disposed of, as Abortion Free New Mexico reported on last week. Companies like New Mexico Waste Recovery and Stericycle make a good living off of the discarding of these children as “biohazard waste.” We, however, must see these babies for who they are, precious masterpieces created in the image of God.

We do have medical heroes, saving lives every day while risking their own safety and well-being, however, they are not working at this abortion clinic. The UNM Center for Reproductive Health performs late term abortions through 6 months gestation!

    The University of New Mexico is an institution of higher learning, in addition to removing the “Heroes Work Here” banner, our hope is that UNM will disassociate the university from this facility because the intentional taking of an innocent person’s life should never be associated with our university’s policies or mission.”…. ​

    It is a humbling experience to work to obtain aborted babies and to arrange their burial. The pro-life community has worked diligently since before Roe v. Wade so that some of these precious pre-born babies have been given proper burial places all around the country. In a world where babies are killed behind sterile clinic doors, we often don’t think about what happens to them after their brutal deaths.

    You may recall that Abortion Free New Mexico sought to provide a proper burial for aborted babies in the possession of the University of New Mexico, that had been harvested for medical experiments. ​

    In addition, we have a memorial headstone, at the same location, for babies that have been lost due to miscarriage and this year we will be remembering them as well.

    Dear Friends,

    May we never forget the faithfulness, compassion and justice of our God. He is in fact doing amazing things even in the midst of the intense spiritual battle that is currently raging in this nation and across New Mexico. Good and evil, light and darkness has never been more clearer.

    May we always be thankful for what He is accomplishing and always be eager to further His kingdom purposes. This month we are feeling encouraged in spite of the fear and dread that so many others are experiencing. We know how the human story ends and so we rejoice and continue to serve the King knowing that He will have the final victory.

    New Mexico needs to start from the ground up district by district to ensure that our conservative candidates win on November 3rd. 

    Tara was recruited a few months back to help organize grassroots district meetings in order to educate and mobilize republicans on an ongoing basis. This month she was blessed to have the opportunity to organize meetings for our candidate friends Manny Lardizabal SD26 and Lisa Meyer-Hagen SD12 and Kayla Marshall HD13. In addition, we are also helping Dinah Vargas HD10 who is a fierce pro-life warrior. Tara is on her Pro-life Advisory Team.

    One pro-lifer does not believe the voters in her state approve of their tax dollars funding abortions — especially considering the staggering rate that it’s occurring.

    Tara Shaver of Abortion Free New Mexico tells OneNewsNow The Land of Enchantment is among the 16 states that are allowed to use state taxpayer dollars to fully fund abortion.

    “Our Supreme Court ruled back in 1999 that essentially women have equal rights as men, and therefore the state should pay for their abortions,” Shaver explains. “But we do believe that the taxpayers of New Mexico deserve to know just how much of their hard-earned tax dollars are being used to fund abortions.”

    So with a public records request, Abortion Free New Mexico has obtained the data from 2017-2019, discovering some alarming information.

    “Over the three-year period, almost 6,000 abortions were paid for by taxpayers, and it cost the taxpayers almost $800,000,” the pro-lifer relays.

    New Mexico is a poor state that ranks number one in child poverty, which means it is a welfare state where many people rely on the government. Shaver submits that the problem that needs to be challenged is child poverty – an issue that killing preborn children does not resolve.

    While New Mexico is a left-leaning state, Shaver says the voters tend to be conservative on a lot of issues, and one of them is tax money funding abortions. The current system could only begin to change if those conservative voters show up at the polls in November.

    Albuquerque, New Mexico- Newly obtained Medicaid data by Abortion Free New Mexico reveals that from 2017-2019 state tax payers paid $791,106.50 for 5,889 abortions. The data was acquired through a public records request and also includes the names of 94 doctors, midwives and nurses who were paid by the state for the procedures. In addition to free-standing abortion facilities, nine hospitals were also paid for abortions through New Mexico Medicaid.

    New Mexico is one 16 states that uses state tax dollars to fully fund abortions, because of the supreme court ruling in New Mexico Right to Choose/NARAL v. Johnson. The court ruled, in part, that the life of the unborn child is not compelling enough to outweigh the special interest of the mother. For this reason, New Mexicans are forced to foot the bill for low income women who qualify for New Mexico Medicaid and choose to have an abortion. It is a reality that infuriates many people of faith and conscience who would rather see their hard earned money used to promote life and provide legitimate help and resources to low income women with unplanned pregnancies.

    Bud Shaver of Abortion Free New Mexico issued the following statement,

    “New Mexico tax payers should be outraged that our hard earned tax money from 2017-2019 was spent to fund 5,889 abortions at a staggering cost of $791,106.50! American’s fought to gain our independence from tyrants in 1776, in part, due to taxation (of 3 pence per pound on tea) without equal representation. How much more egregious is it that our tax dollars are being used to fund the killing of innocent children without our ability to refuse? The New Mexico Supreme Court ruling, New Mexico Right to Choose/NARAL v. Johnson foisted a tyrannical precedent upon the tax payers of New Mexico without any due recourse to remedy this unjust burden. Furthermore, with New Mexico ranked as one of the poorest states in the country, surely there are better ways that New Mexico tax dollars could be spent to help low income mothers rise up out of poverty then simply providing them with abortions. Instead of providing reasonable solutions, the New Mexico Supreme Court, unfortunately, has misappropriated our tax dollars to eliminate poor children through Medicaid funded abortions.”

    Dishonorable Mentions

    Southwestern Women’s Options, Albuquerque’s late term abortion facility, where abortions are performed through all nine months of pregnancy received the most money $340,773.61 out of the five abortion facilities in the state. Southwestern Women’s Options employs abortionists Shelley Sella who received $147,697.50 and Carmen Laundau who received $102,874.50 both of whom are at the top of the list in terms of abortion numbers and payments received. Sella is a resident of California who travels to New Mexico to abort babies in the latest stages of pregnancy. Landau lives in New Mexico, but received her medical degree from Communist Cuba. Southwestern Women’s Options performed 1,957 Medicaid funded abortions, each one representing a innocent child’s life. 

    The University of New Mexico- UNM, which has its own off-campus free standing abortion facility, received the second highest payments totaling $300,858.91 but actually performed 2,686 abortions, which was 729 more abortions than Southwestern Women’s Options during the same three year period. The data showed many medical doctors that were affiliated with UNM, presumably residents, who have since moved on from New Mexico and now practice in other states. This confirms what Abortion Free New Mexico has stated for years, that UNM is at the heart of the New Mexico abortion cartel. Their abortion training and residency training programs are a catalyst for what the abortion industry hopes will be responsible for raising up the next generation of abortion providers.

    Thankfully, the numbers of abortion providers continues to be on the decline. Not every OB-GYN doctor is willing to betray true medicine by offering abortions in their offices.

    Planned Parenthood, which is the nations largest abortion provider, was next in line performing 761 abortions and receiving $67,408.98. Vivianne Clark, a registered nurse and Lucia Cies, who closed her private abortion practice in 2011, appear to be the primary abortion providers of the Planned Parenthood facilities that are located in Santa Fe and Albuquerque. 

    The Women’s Specialists of New Mexico practitioners that  were reimbursed for 73 medicaid funded abortion procedures in addition to the physicians affiliated with LovelaceMedical group were the most surprising. One doctor alone at Lovelace, Regan Riley performed 70 abortions! Lovelace has been known to be more pro-life friendly and many were under the impression that abortions were not performed in their facilities. This medicaid data proves otherwise and should be cause for concern in the pro-life community. 

    • Franz Theard’s [Hill Top] Women’s Reproductive Clinic in Santa Teresa, NM did not appear in this Medicaid report because they are a cash only abortion clinic and do not accept Medicaid clients.​

    Here are the hospitals where abortions occurred and their abortion totals:

    2. Lovelace Health System (86)
    3. Holy Cross Medical Center Taos, NM who employs Rameet Singh who alone performed (85) 
    4. Northern Navajo Medical Center- Shiprock, NM (38)
    5. Miners Colfax Medical Center- Raton, NM (8)
    6. Presbyterian Hospital (7) 
    7. Gila Regional Medical Center Silver City NM (3)
    8. Alta Vista Regional Hospital, Las Vegas, NM (1) 
    9. Clovis Plains Regional Medical Center (1)
    • In addition to hospitals, several midwives are performing abortions throughout New Mexico violating their mission to help mothers bring their babies into the world safely.
    • There were doctors that are not licensed to practice in New Mexico, from Colorado, Wyoming and the furthest coming in from New York who were reimbursed by New Mexico Medicaid for abortions they performed. ​

    Abortion Numbers Statewide Are On The Decline

    Over the course of the three year period, abortions that were covered by New Mexico Medicaid did decline each year. In 2017, there were 2,285 performed. In 2018, the number dropped to 2,109 and in 2019 was the steepest drop with 1,495 abortions that Medicaid covers. Tax payers can only hope that the numbers continue to decrease as more women choose life for their babies.

    New Mexico tax payers deserve to know how their tax dollars are used as well as which practitioners in the community are willing to provide abortions. Each abortion takes a child’s life and this report should encourage the pro-life community to be even more diligent in working to build a culture of life in New Mexico. 

    ​*Correction 9/27/2020: On August 19, 2020, Abortion Free New Mexico published this report detailing information obtained from the New Mexico Department of Human Services related to Medicaid funded abortions in New Mexico from 2017 through 2019. In our original report, we identified Dr. Steven Gough as the medical director for Women’s Specialists of New Mexico and reported that he had performed 8 abortions between 2017 and 2019.

    Dr. Gough has contacted us and states that two of the statements contained in our article are incorrect. Dr. Gough tells us that he is neither the medical director of Women’s Specialists of New Mexico, nor has he performed any abortions. 

    • Dr. Gough’s official title according to the Women’s Specialists of New Mexico website is, Medical Director (Cosmetics), – Physician.

    We are happy to learn that Dr. Gough does not perform abortions. Apparently, the Medicaid information provided by the state was incorrect, and we apologize to Dr. Gough for the error.

    ​As a result, we are also following up with a request for additional information from the New Mexico Department of Human Services to ensure that this does not occur in the future.

    A pro-life group in New Mexico is working to shut down what it considers to be a racist abortion facility.

    Abortion Free New Mexico has researched and kept a watchful eye on the University of New Mexico (UNM) Center for Reproductive Health, an off-site late-term abortion facility where more than half of the abortions are done on Hispanic women.

    Pro-life spokeswoman Tara Shaver tells OneNewsNow UNM is the state’s flagship taxpayer-funded university.

    “For years they have been what we consider to be the heart of the abortion cartel in New Mexico because they train abortionists, they were harvesting fetal baby body parts and using them for vaccine research, and things like that,” Shaver reports. “They’re very deeply entrenched in the abortion industry.”

    UNM’s Eve Espey, professor and chair of the Department of OB-GYN and medical director at the abortion facility, has a sordid history. In 2014, for example, she was awarded the Margaret Sanger Award for her eugenic population control efforts targeting the Hispanic community.

    “Earlier in her career she really focused on … abortions done on women in South America and also in the Native American tribes here in New Mexico,” Shaver notes.

    Abortion Free New Mexico is calling on the university, which is currently $13 million in debt, to close its free-standing abortion facility, which performs abortions through the six month of pregnancy. The pro-life organization is also calling for Espey, who receives an annual salary of $505,388 for her work at UNM, making her the school’s sixth highest paid employee 2019, to step down.

    Albuquerque, New Mexico- Planned Parenthood, in an effort to address systemic racism within its organization, is distancing itself from their founder, Margaret Sanger by removing her name off of their flagship abortion facility in New York City and according to Yahoo News, 

    “Planned Parenthood will also work with the City Council and community members to strip nearby Margaret Sanger Square of that name—a designation they had initially pushed for.”

    Yahoo News states why this drastic measure is needed,

    “Sanger, who devoted her life to legalizing and increasing access to contraception, coined the term “birth control” in 1914. After being arrested for opening the nation’s first birth control clinic in 1916, she founded the American Birth Control League, the predecessor to Planned Parenthood, just four years later. But during her crusade, Sanger also aligned herself with the then-popular eugenics movement, which supported attempting to ‘improve’ human populations by controlling reproduction. In the years before the Holocaust made it impossible to ignore where that notion could lead, ideas from eugenics were often wielded in the service of white supremacy and other forms of discrimination.”

    In 2014 Eve Espey, the Medical Director of the UNM Center for Reproductive Health, was awarded the Margaret Sanger Award for her eugenic population control efforts targeting the Hispanic population.

    Eve Espey receives an annual salary  at of  $505,388 for her work at UNM! In fact, she was the sixth highest paid employee at UNM in 2019.

    Tara Shaver of Abortion Free New Mexico issued the following statement,

    “As the racist history of Margaret Sanger and her ties to eugenics comes to light, it’s time for the University of New Mexico to end the systemic racism within the state’s flagship institution by firing Eve Espey and shutting down the UNM Center for Reproductive Health. As an avid promoter of abortion expansion in New Mexico and worldwide, Eve Espey received the 2014 Margaret Sanger award at the New Mexico Planned Parenthood’s 50 year celebration. Espey has also worked on the faculty of the Health Sciences Global Health Program (GHP), which collaborates with the United Nation’s World Health Organization (WHO) on education, service and research. Espey’s focus with the GHP was family planning and abortion in Mexico and Central America.” 

    Tara Shaver went on to state,

    “As documented in previous reports, the University of New Mexico has a sordid reputation of targeting Hispanics for elimination by abortion thanks to UNM’s Eve Espey, Professor and Chair of the Department of OB-GYN, and Medical Director at UNM’s off-site abortion facility, the UNM Center for Reproductive Health. At a time when UNM is currently 13 million dollars in debt, let’s start with firing Eve Espey, defunding and closing the UNM Center for Reproductive Health late term abortion facility.”

    FLASHBACK REPORT: Hispanics Targeted for Death by Abortion According to 2013 New Mexico Vital Statistics

    Minority Hispanic women are disproportionately targeted by the [New Mexico] abortion cartel, accounting for 53% of all abortions in the state while Hispanics account for only 42.1% of the population. 

    In addition, abortions rose amongst Hispanic women by 9% from 1,643 in 2012 to 1,798 in 2013. This represented a larger percentage than the overall statewide trend.

    Pro-abortion organizations like Planned Parenthood, Young Women United and even the University of New Mexico have exploited this demographic in the worst possible way by targeting them for elimination by abortion.

    ACTION ITEM: Encourage the University of New Mexico to end systemic racism!

    Dear Friends,

    Another month of ministry has come and gone but we are building momentum. There is so much positive energy right now in New Mexico as more people are getting involved in the pro-life movement. This is all building hope for life affirming change when we finally have the opportunity elect a historic 101 pro-life leaders all across New Mexico in November.

    Even though New Mexico is known as the late term abortion capital, we only have 5 abortion facilities statewide. While we continue our investigative research, look for weak links, file complaints that bring accountability, pro-life legislation is the final piece of the puzzle.

    Please pray with us that godly candidates win the overwhelming majority on election day so that we can get a super majority to override our current radical pro-abortion governor’s veto power and pass 100% pro-life legislation, because Baby Lives Matter (BLM).

    When the UNM Center for Reproductive Health placed a banner over their building stating, “Heroes Work Here” Bud and I didn’t really think too much of it. After so many years of ministry we have come to understand the mentality of those in the abortion industry. Abortionists operate as if they are above the law and any accountability, which is no surprise, since they have lost their moral compass and have betrayed true medicine.

    Michelle Garcia Holmes (R) who is running for US Congress (CD1), however, was taken aback and very disturbed by this message that was being sent into the community. She took it upon herself to do facebook live videos with the message that heroes do not work in abortion clinics. It was really a God thing that she became so passionate and launched a petition to the President of UNM to ask to have the banner removed. 

    After several weeks of the petition, which we helped to circulate, a press conference was scheduled featuring Michelle and other pro-life legislative candidates. Within 24 hours of sending out a press release about the press conference we received word that the banner had been taken down. So, on Friday, July 10th we held a press conference believing that UNM was taking a step in the right direction and listening to the people.

    The press conference was awesome as Dinah Vargas who is running in House District 10 (HD10) where this UNM abortion clinic is located and Stefani Lord (HD22) shared their hearts about why they are pro-life and running for office in New Mexico. Michelle Garcia Holmes, in her speech, called for the defunding of UNM as the next step. UNM is in a financial crisis and it makes perfect sense for them to take funding from their abortion facility that takes lives and put those funds where they can be used to save lives.

    Unfortunately, the next Friday, the banner was back up. We are drafting a new petition where emails will be sent to both UNM president Garnett Stokes and the Board of Regents.

    Albuquerque, New Mexico- Over the past decade we have worked tirelessly as pro-life missionaries to build the foundation on which an abortion free New Mexico is possible. One of the biggest obstacles we have faced over the years is the makeup of the New Mexico legislature. Pro-life bills get tabled in committee and never have a chance to be heard on the house or senate floor much less be signed by the Governor. All of this can change in November and if conservatives gain a supermajority in November they will even be able to override any veto our democrat governor imposes.

A record breaking 101 republican candidates (all of them are solidly pro-life) have been recruited by a movement called Respect New Mexico to take back our legislature and turn the state red in November. The time to change the direction of our state is long overdue, we know that New Mexico shouldn’t be at the top of every bad list and bottom of every good list of national ranking statistics. We have such a great opportunity, like never before, as the pro-life community to make sure that strong godly leaders are elected in New Mexico. 

    Let’s make sure that we did all that we could to help these 101 statewide candidates get elected.

    The hard truth is that democrats outnumber republicans in New Mexico right out of the gate. Most democrats don’t lift a finger to get elected because they either have never had an opponent-many of them actually haven’t faced a republican challenger ever, or they rely on the fact that democrats are militant voters. This means that republicans have to campaign harder, be smarter and more dedicated in order to win. Reaching swing voters is imperative, those who are independent and conservative democrats need to hear from us and know that they don’t have to vote for a progressive leftist candidate on November 3rd.

    Albuquerque, New Mexico- On Friday, July 10, 2020 Abortion Free New Mexico joined Michelle Garcia Holmes for U.S. Congress, Dinah Vargas for New Mexico House of Representatives District 10 and Stefani Lord for New Mexico House District 22 on location at the UNM free-standing abortion facility to let the community know that abortionists are not heroes. Within 24 hours of announcing a press conference at the UNM Center for Reproductive Health, launching an online petition with emails going directly to UNM President Garnett Stokes, in addition to weeks of overflowing public outcry, we received word that the “Heroes Work Here” banner had been taken down!

    “We are once again going to take our plea to the people and encourage them to call, write, email all of the UNM Board of Regents. The University of New Mexico is an institution of higher learning, our hope is that the regents disassociate the university from this facility because the intentional taking of an innocent persons life should never be associated with our university’s policies or mission. Let’s keep the fight going, let’s shut this clinic down, let’s defund this facility. The University of New Mexico is currently thirteen million dollars in debt, let’s start here.”

    Dinah Vargas, candidate for New Mexico House of Representatives District 10, where the UNM Center for Reproductive Health is located, issued the following statement today, 

    “It’s real simple for me, I’m against abortion because God is against abortion. For far too long it seems that New Mexicans have been pushed around and been told that the unborn aren’t human beings and all that the world hears about New Mexico is that we kill the unborn in great numbers. This abortion clinic happens to be in my district and I want to end abortion. I am ready to do my part in ending abortion. Today I commit myself to never be silent, never to be passive and never to be forgetful of the unborn. I commit myself to be active in the pro-life movement and to never stop defending life until all of my brothers and sisters are protected and we are a nation that is about liberty and justice, not just for some but, for all. As a campaign promise I will do my part to end abortion.”

    As a strong woman and pro-life defender, Stefani Lord, candidate for New Mexico House of Representatives District 22. shared her personal testimony. She is opposed to abortion because her birth mother went to an abortion facility to abort her life, but the state in which she was born had restrictions that prevented her from being killed, unlike New Mexico where you can be aborted through all nine months. She shared how her adopted mom was the abortionist who would have killed her and that she grew up and saw first hand the devastation that abortion took on women’s lives. She stated, 

    “My adopted mom was an abortionist, and she was no hero. It tore her up inside, I saw their faces and I saw their tears. I know exactly first hand from birth on, how abortion affects people including the doctors, the nurses and the staff that are doing it. They can pretend all they want, but it is eating them up inside. No matter how much they want to say that killing a child is normal, it’s not normal. I want to be very clear, abortion doctors are not heroes and this abortion facility should never have had that banner on there. It’s an insult to people like me. It’s offensive. Abortion is not normal and abortionists are not heroes.”

    For 10 years Abortion Free New Mexico has exposed UNM as the heart of the New Mexico abortion cartel. The removal of the “Heroes Work Here” banner was the first step in the right direction and it is our hope that UNM will abandon it’s radical abortion agenda.     The University of New Mexico tax payer funded abortion clinic, (University of New Mexico Center for Reproductive Health) is claiming that they are heroes for providing abortions during the Covid-19 crisis. The clinic hoisted a large banner with the message “Heroes Work Here” covering their permanent sign. Our Congressional Campaign found out the clinic proudly posted the banner several weeks ago. The clinic is located at 2301 Yale SE in Albuquerque, New Mexico. 

    Michelle Garcia Holmes said, “My shock quickly turned to sadness when I saw this banner.” “I know so many heroes in our community who are fighting to save lives amidst this pandemic. The work our doctors, nurses and healthcare professionals have been doing, has been challenging, high-risk and a huge personal sacrifice. Many are working long hours and have been separated from their families for extended periods of time.” 

    From the start of the Covid-19 lockdown, our Governor deemed abortion clinics as essential businesses. “I disagree, at a critical time such as this, I believe the clinics should have been closed and deemed non-essential.” “We have had numerous people coming in from out of state to visit the abortion clinics in our state, because they are open and will do abortions up to a baby’s date of birth.” 

    “For an abortion clinic, whose sole purpose is to take life, to blatantly compare itself to hospital medical staff caring for covid-19 patients is shocking and insulting.” Garcia Holmes continued, “We do have medical heroes, saving lives every day while risking their own safety and well-being, however they are not working at these abortion clinics. I have the highest respect for our medical community and the work they have done to protect all New Mexicans during these difficult times.” 

    The Garcia Holmes Congressional Campaign and our supporters have notified by telephone and mail, asking the University of New Mexico President, Garnett Stokes, to immediately have the management of the UNM sponsored abortion clinic to take down that banner. As of today, the offensive banner remains posted. Garcia Holmes stated, “This attempt for the UNM abortion clinic to steal the honor and praise of truly dedicated medical staff at our hospitals and clinics should stop now. The intentional taking of another innocent person’s life should never be rewarded, celebrated or honored.”

    Albuquerque, New Mexico- In a comprehensive post and statement made by Progress Now New Mexico on June 25, 2020, ProgressNow New Mexico disavowed their former Executive Director Pat Davis and threw him under the #CancelCulture bus. 

    ProgressNow New Mexico issued the following statement,

    “This week, new details have surfaced regarding former ProgressNow New Mexico Executive Director and Albuquerque City Councilor Pat Davis’ shooting of a Black man while working as a cop in Washington D.C. Davis originally founded ProgressNow New Mexico but left the organization in 2017 and while his name is attached to the organization and its beginnings, we want to state clearly that his past and present actions are not reflective of ProgressNow New Mexico values.”

    Pat Davis made national news and was featured on Tucker Carlson’s show when he ran for U.S. Congress (CD1) in 2018 for his “F— The NRA” campaign. At that time Pat Davis stated,

    “[Pro-gun] policies resulted in dead children, dead mothers and dead fathers. Being polite hasn’t made our schools any safer or protected officers like I used to be.”

    Tucker Carlson fired back,

    “How many NRA members have committed mass shootings?”

    While Pat Davis could not name any questionable NRA member shootings at the time, ironically now City Councilor Pat Davis is under fire politically for his own questionable shooting of a black man!

    Thirteen years ago, in 2007, our lives were forever changed! Tara and I were working in an evangelistic apartment ministry in Flagstaff, Arizona. That summer we went to Spirit West Coast in southern California with a group of college students, and after watching our favorite Christian bands…  

    Tara visited a pro-life booth, took some information, and the rest is history! 

    Driving back to Flagstaff, AZ our hearts were awakened to the reality of the Abortion Holocaust that has killed 1/3rd of our generation! 

    We prayed a simple prayer, 

    “Lord we commit our lives to your service to work to end this grave injustice until you call us home with you, or until abortion is ended in America. Use us as you see fit we humbly pray.”

    The pro-life organization, Survivors of the Abortion Holocaust, hosted a booth that summer where Tara received eye opening information and an invitation to their annual pro-life training camp. We attended their camp later that summer and our lives have never been the same. We never looked back and have been fulfilling our commitment to God, pursuing an end to abortion, ever since! 

    After attending their pro-life training camp we moved to Riverside, California in 2008 to work with Survivors as assistant Directors of the Campus Life Tour where we toured the country visiting over 180 college campuses and high schools from 2008-2009. 

    Then we moved to Wichita, Kansas to work as interns with Operation Rescue from 2009-2010 and have been full-time pro-life missionaries working in Albuquerque, New Mexico from 2010 until the present.

    Abortion supporters in New Mexico are actually making the pro-life movement look good.

    LifeNews reports that a far-left group in New Mexico has posted a billboard near Albuquerque claiming that “rape is about power and control and so are abortion bans,” suggesting laws protecting the lives of preborn children are similar to the violent act of rape. Tara Shaver of Abortion Free New Mexico disagrees with that comparison.

    “The progressive pro-abortion liberals they think that this type of language resonates with New Mexicans, but it doesn’t,” she asserts. “New Mexico is a state that values families; it values children, and so this messaging just doesn’t resonate with the average person in New Mexico whatsoever. It really only resonates with those who champion abortion.”

    Since this is an election year, candidates on the left are fighting against any thinking that might cost them votes. Nevertheless, Shaver’s organization will continue on track with its goal – “an abortion-free state where every child is protected and valued.”

    “The type of rhetoric that the pro-abortion community is trying to use right now is just not going to help them at all,” the pro-lifer continues. “It just makes them seem more radical, and it makes us look more reasonable.”

    She adds that anyone who wants to fight for human rights should fight against abortion, because it is a violent act against a tiny, defenseless human being.

    BREAKING: 35th Woman Injured at Southwestern Women’s Options

    Albuquerque, New Mexico- On Tuesday, June 9, 2020 sidewalk counselors outside the notorious late term abortion facility Southwestern Women’s Options (SWO) witnessed a woman being rushed into an ambulance and transported to a nearby hospital. Shockingly, this is the 35th documented abortion injury at SWO since 2008!

    According to eye witnesses, the patient was in a vehicle with California license plates.

    Late term abortions are, unfortunately, performed through all nine months of pregnancy in New Mexico. Every Tuesday at Southwestern Women’s Options the barbaric 3-4 day long late term abortion procedure is started on women who come to New Mexico (from all across the world) for what is known as Abortion Tourism. The barbaric procedure begins with an injection of digoxin into the woman’s uterus which causes the baby to die from a fetal heart attack that reportedly takes several hours for the baby’s heart to finally stop. Each day thereafter, the woman’s cervix is artificially dilated so that she can give birth to her dead child on a Friday or Saturday. 

    Tara Shaver issued the following statement, 

    “At a time when businesses and Churches have been forced to close, abortion facilities remain open and at least two women have been injured. These injuries confirm that abortion is not healthcare and that these facilities are not even equipped to handle the complications that arise during such invasive elective procedures. Women and their children deserve better than abortion and Abortion Free New Mexico is working to provide accountability and a culture where these barbaric procedures are intolerable.”

    This is the second woman injured during a botched abortion in New Mexico since Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham refused to close non-essential abortion facilities during the COVID-19 pandemic. On March 25, 2020 Southwest Coalition For Life witnessed a woman injured in Santa Teresa, New Mexico at Hill Top abortion facility run by abortionist Franz Theard.

    That injury occurred two days after New Mexico Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham’s office released the following statement to Tara Shaver of Abortion Free New Mexico in response to our call to close non-essential elective abortion facilities,

    “We have discussed this matter and the clinics are not going to close. Some people are claiming that abortions are elective surgeries and we are not considering them as elective surgeries. All the clinics are sanitizing very well and they are not going to close.”

    In addition to the 35 abortion injuries documented at Southwestern Women’s Options, and the recent abortion injury documented in Santa Teresa, Abortion Free New Mexico has also documented an additional four botched abortions at the University of New Mexico’s free-standing abortion facility UNM Center for Reproductive Health.

Our family attended the watch party /victory celebration on election night and after attending several political watch parties over the past ten years, it was nice to finally celebrate a victory for New Mexico!

    Michelle’s #1 issue during the campaign has always been to protect the sanctity of life 100%. As she moves forward to face the radical pro-abortion extremist incumbent Deb Haaland (D) she will keep LIFE at the core of her campaign.

    Michelle spoke to several local Democrat voters who weren’t able to vote for her during the Republican primary election, but committed their vote to her in the general election on November 3, 2020 because she will defend LIFE in Washington, D.C.! ​

    The Battle Continues

    November is still a long way off and Michelle Garcia Holmes has a tough battle before her, but with hard work to get out the vote, our prayers and support, and with God on her side, we really believe that she can accomplish ultimate victory on November 3rd!
