HUSH Film at UNM: Overcoming BIAS concerning Women’s Health

By Bud Shaver,

Albuquerque, NM- Abortion Free New Mexico and Students for Life UNM hosted a FREE screening of the HUSH – Feature Documentary and held a Q&A session afterwards at The University of New Mexico – UNM.

This event was not Pro-Choice vs. Pro-Life… but PRO-INFORMATION!

We extended an invitation to several pro-abortion student groups at UNM and even asked them to include a physician of their “Choice” for the Q&A session…but they only showed up to protest and steal ALL of our information off our table!

IRONICALLY the Director of HUSH, Punam Kumar Gill, is a Pro-Choice feminist who produced the HUSH film to begin a healthy conversation about how LEGITIMATE fact-based scientific research proving the harmful effects of abortion is being suppressed by the “Pro-Choice” community. She saw that the BIAS among her own base must be addressed if there will ever be a chance to truly #StartAHealthyConversation about abortion and women’s health…

Despite Abortion Free New Mexico and Students for Life UNM’s willingness to reach out to the “Pro-Choice” community in Albuquerque, they refused to participate in a healthy conversation surrounding the facts presented in HUSHfilm.com

(Pictured- Fr. Stephen Imbarrato, Tara Shaver, physician Maryrose Turner, and Emily President of Students for Life UNM)

Tara Shaver issued the following statement,

“Abortion always ends the life of a child, but women have no idea how abortion will effect them in the years to come. The majority of ‘pro-choice’ proponents and abortion mills in this nation are not informing women of the true nature of abortion when it pertains to women’s health. This is why I applaud Punam Kumar Gill, the director, of HUSHfilm.com and the producers who had the courage and strength to go against the tide amongst her own ‘pro-choice’ community.

The information presented in HUSH is invaluable and relevant in today’s culture where abortion is used as birth control and is often the only choice that women with unplanned pregnancies are offered help for among the radicalized ‘pro-choice’ community.

I’ve witnessed this firsthand. A few months ago I took a teenage pregnant mother to her first OBGYN prenatal appointment at a University of New Mexico health clinic. That morning right before her appointment she had an argument in the waiting room with her teenage boyfriend and when we were taken back to visit with a doctor this mom was visibly upset. Pregnancy can be a difficult and emotional time for any woman, but how do you think the doctor responded to this situation?
Instead of providing positive reinforcement that this too shall pass, the University of New Mexico doctor immediately questioned if she wanted to keep the baby and assured her that she still had options and could terminate the pregnancy! If life throws the smallest curveball at a young mom who is pregnant the ‘pro-choice’ world tells her that having an abortion will somehow remedy her situation. However, all the abortion will do is rob her from indescribable joy and potentially leave her scarred both physically and emotionally in ways that are never explained to her beforehand.
When women are 20 and have an abortion they don’t think about how it will negatively effect their physical or mental health when they are 30, 40 or 50. All women need to unite together and stand for the truth about how abortion profoundly impacts those who obtain them. I proudly stand with those like Punam who are willing to use their voice for what is best for women despite any presuppositions.”

📢 HUSH Screening at UNM #Start A Healthy Conversation

📢 HUSH Screening at UNM #Start A Healthy Conversation

By Tara Shaver

Albuquerque, NM- Monday, April 16, 2018 Abortion Free New Mexico and Students for Life UNM is hosting a free screening of the groundbreaking documentary, HUSH, at the University of New Mexico Student Union Building theatre. This event is open to the general public and has the potential to be life changing for those who attend and hear due to the fact that both sides of the debate are interviewed, the research presented is clear that having an abortion effects women’s health in many ways.

  • After the viewing of the HUSH documentary there will be public Q&A period where Abortion Free New Mexico and Students for Life UNM will have a Pro-Life doctor available to field questions.
  • An invitation was extended to several Pro-Choice groups to provide a physician of their choice to join the Q&A panel to field questions as well.
Abortion Free New Mexico and Students for Life UNM have invited numerous student groups to this screening including pro-abortion, medical, women specific, and Christian groups. HUSH has the ability to break down the barriers that prohibit having a healthy conversation, it is truly a pro-information film. However, it is interesting to see how some groups like Advancing Women in Science at UNM have responded to our invitation to see the film.
“This is not of interest to my student group, we do not support pro life efforts. Please take us off your email list.

Thank you –

Stephanie
President, Advancing Women in Science”
Many are not willing to examine facts and discuss how abortion impacts women for a lifetime. Some even feel the need to restrict others from doing so by speaking for every member of the group like the President of Advancing Women in Science has done. But is this type of attitude really helping to ADVANCE women; especially when the HUSH documentary is presenting sound scientific data…about women’s health?

“In ‘Pro-Life’ circles, hearing about the negative effects of abortion is a common thing. Churches and Crisis Pregnancy Centres will tell you about the psychological trauma, potential for physical damage, and even breast cancer, that abortion may cause.

On the other hand, in ‘Pro-Choice’ circles, and at abortion clinics it is commonly told that the procedure is much safer than childbirth, that the psychological effects are the same as if you deliver the child, and the breast cancer connection is a closed case.

One way or another, someone is lying to women.” Producers of  HUSHfilm.com

Invitation Extended To Local Pro-Abortion Groups To HUSH Screening at UNM

Invitation Extended To Local Pro-Abortion Groups To HUSH Screening at UNM

By Bud Shaver

Albuquerque, NM- Abortion Free New Mexico and Students for Life UNM have extended an invitation to several local pro-choice groups to attend a FREE screening of the award winning documentary HUSH at the University of New Mexico on Monday, April 16, 2018. HUSH takes an honest and compelling look at the effects of abortion on women’s health in many areas that the pro-choice community continues to ignore. All are invited and encouraged to attend this screening.

After the viewing of the HUSH documentary there will be public Q&A period where Abortion Free New Mexico and Students for Life UNM will have a pro-life doctor available to field questions. Local pro-choice groups have also been invited to provide a doctor of their choosing to answer questions as well.

Here is an excerpt of the invitation that was extended,

“Abortion Free New Mexico and Students for Life UNM would like to invite the Student Alliance for Reproductive Justice, Nursing Students for Sexual and Reproductive Health, Medical Students for Choice, UNM Women’s Resource Center, and NM Religious Coalition for Reproductive Choice to a FREE screening of the full-length film, HUSH.

Following the screening of the film will be a discussion with at least one physician with knowledge and experience about abortion and women’s health related to the content of the film. We would like to find one more physician who would be willing to speak on this panel and answer questions that members of the audience may ask during this time. If any of you should have a recommendation, please have them contact us.”

HUSH is an internationally acclaimed, award winning documentary that will be playing on campus on Monday April 16th, at the University of New Mexico SUB theatre, and doors open at 6:00pm. HUSH is directed by Pro-Choice Canadian, Punam Kumar Gill, and is a well-researched, “pro-information” examination of the health effects of abortion and miscarriage on women. Following the screening of the film will be a discussion with at least one physician with knowledge and experience about abortion and women’s health related to the content of the film.

“Hush, which seems to me an objective overview of the situation, should be seen by pro-choice women, pro-life women and women who are simply concerned about themselves or their daughters achieving their reproductive goals with optimal chances for long-term health. That is to say, by pretty well all women.” BARBARA KAY, NATIONAL POST

Tara Shaver of Abortion Free New Mexico issued the following statement,

“The scientific evidence presented in the Hush documentary is relevant to every woman, especially those who will face an unplanned pregnancy and consider the possibility of having an abortion. Abortion can have devastating consequences on the health of women who obtain them but no one is talking about it. Now is the time to start a healthy conversation and make sure that every woman is fully informed about what she may face if she chooses an abortion. This documentary can also provide answers for women who face health issues years after their abortions.”

THE HUSH DOCUMENTARY PROVIDES COMPELLING EVIDENCE OF THE FOLLOWING:
  • Preterm Birth & Breast Cancer Risk
  • Abortion & Premature Birth Studies
  • Abortion & Psychology Studies
  • Sex Selective Abortions and Female Infanticide
  • Late Term Abortion Significantly Increases Risk of Complications Versus Early Abortions

Tara Shaver obtained a consent form in 2012 from a woman injured by a late term abortion at Southwestern Women’s Options (SWO) that clearly states:

“The risk of terminating a pregnancy gradually increases throughout the course of pregnancy. These comparative risks become approximately equal at 16-18 weeks of pregnancy and increase so that pregnancy termination at 18 weeks and above involves a greater risk than carring the pregnancy to term.”
