UPDATE: Texas Poised To Close Abortion Trafficking Loophole Exposed by Abortion Free New Mexico

    By Bud Shaver,

Albuquerque, New Mexico- Abortion Free New Mexico’s Project Weak Link investigation into the waste hauler, Biocycle/Oncore Technologies is bearing fruit in the state of Texas. The local Albuquerque Planned Parenthood surgical center was utilizing this company that would show up weekly to their facility to take aborted babies away for disposal. Tara discovered their vehicle wasn’t properly labeled but that was only the beginning of their numerous violations. Sanctuary Cities for the Unborn is leading the charge in Texas, trying to put a stop to this practice because of what our initial investigation uncovered.

See the related articles below and stay tuned for more updates. In response to these encouraging developments, Tara Shaver of Abortion Free New Mexico issued the following statement,

Abortion Free New Mexico fully supports the measures that Sanctuary Cities for the Unborn is pursuing in Texas to encourage the Texas legislature to close the abortion trafficking of aborted babies loophole and their proactive measures in Amarillo, TX to become a Sanctuary City for the Unborn, while also addressing the practice of transporting and disposing of babies killed by elective abortions as well as the abortion trafficking of Amarillo residents into pro-abortion states like New Mexico.”

Abortion business ‘waste’ hauled into Texas from across America for disposal

By Tayte Ward | March 13, 2024 (Guest writer at Live Action)

In March of 2021, an unmarked vehicle with Texas license plates was seen receiving material on a weekly basis from a Planned Parenthood in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Tara Shaver, a sidewalk counselor with Abortion Free New Mexico, noticed this and contacted the New Mexico Environment Department (NMED) with photo evidence of large red shipping containers being placed in the vehicle.

Shaver noted state administrative codes require commercial haulers (of infectious waste) to

conspicuously label all solid waste collection vehicles with the company, municipality, or county department name,” as well as “conspicuously label all solid waste collection vehicles with the environment department registration number.”

These violations prompted NMED to investigate. Daniel R. Galasso, the Solid Waste Bureau (SWB) Enforcement Officer, met with Amy Dickson, Chief Operating Officer of Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains. She supplied the SWB with 17 special waste manifests, showing the company Oncore Technology, LLC, received and hauled what was deemed as “infectious waste” from the abortion facility for a brief period of time. Oncore, located in Grand Prairie, Texas, was found to be an unregistered commercial hauler.

    (Oncore facility sign)

Thomas Simmons, the Operations Manager of Oncore Technology, told Galasso in August of 2021 that Oncore Health Solutions and BioCycle operated in conjunction for hauling purposes for Oncore Technology, LLC. SWB records determined Oncore Health Solutions was the transporter arriving at the New Mexico clinic; Oncore Health Solutions was also not a registered commercial hauler. These manifests used the registration number for a registered commercial hauler, BioCycle, Inc., located in Amarillo, Texas. As a result of the violations, the New Mexico Environment Department fined Oncore Technology $300 — which was less than the price of the abortion pill regimen administered by the Planned Parenthood in Albuquerque during the time of this investigation.

In 2015, prior to abortion being outlawed in Texas, Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast, Inc., located in Houston, released a response to the Department of Health and Hospitals regarding a video seeming to verify the taking part in illegal fetal tissue sales from abortions, which Planned Parenthood denied. In this response, the president and CEO Melaney A. Linton stated products of abortion are defined as “pathological waste” under Texas law.

    Linton stated,

[Planned Parenthood Center for Choice (PPCFC)] contracts with a company to dispose of its Special Waste from Health Care-Related Facilities, which includes Pathological Waste from PPCFC… PPCFC contracts with Oncore Technology, LLC for the disposal of Special Waste from Health Care-Related Facilities, including Pathological Waste. Oncore’s address is 2613 Skyway Dr. Grand Prairie, TX 75052.”

As a result of how Planned Parenthood and others were treating the remains of unborn children as “pathological waste,” the Texas legislature passed a fetal burial bill known as Senate Bill 8 (2017). That bill clarified that

Embryonic and fetal tissue remains are not pathological waste under state law” and required health care facilities within the State of Texas that provide “health or medical care to a pregnant woman” to “dispose of embryonic and fetal tissue remains that are passed or delivered at the facility by: (1) interment; (2) cremation; (3) incineration followed by interment; or (4) steam disinfection followed by interment.” The law was clear to say, “The ashes resulting from the cremation or incineration of embryonic and fetal tissue remains: (1) may be interred or scattered in any manner as authorized by law for human remains; and (2) may not be placed in a landfill.”

    (BioCycle facility sign)

On Saturday, February 24th, 2024, an employee who was leaving BioCycle Healthcare Waste Management Services in Amarillo, Texas, stopped to answer some questions from a couple of curious bystanders outside of the facility’s gated entrance. One of those bystanders was Mark Lee Dickson, a director with Right to Life of East Texas and the founder of the Sanctuary Cities for the Unborn Initiative

Dickson asked the employee if the company ever picked up from Planned Parenthood. The employee shared with Dickson that he was picking up from a Planned Parenthood in Wichita, Kansas — over six hours away.

When asked if he picked up from any abortion facilities outside of Wichita, Kansas, the employee answered,

That’s the only one that I know about off the top of my head because it’s the one that I do because I’m just a driver here. So there’s probably more but I just don’t know off the top of my head.”

When asked how often his company picked up from the Wichita abortion facility, the driver responded,

    Every month. Once a month.”

Upon being asked if the Amarillo facility was disposal or storage, the driver answered,

It’s both. We store it, and then we dispose of it as well.”

BioCycle/Oncore Technology has a broad service range, providing business to several states, including Arizona, Arkansas, California, Kansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Texas.

Troy Newman, president of Operation Rescue, said,

I find it utterly demonic that a waste management company in Amarillo, Texas, would be doing business with an abortion clinic in Wichita, Kansas.”

Abortion Free New Mexico missionary Tara Shaver, who filed the initial BioCycle complaint in Albuquerque, New Mexico, shared,

Abortion Free New Mexico firmly believes that biohazard waste hauling and disposal companies are the weak link of the abortion industry. These companies make it possible for Planned Parenthood and other abortion providers across the nation to kill innocent unborn babies and then inhumanely discard their bodies as biohazard waste.”

    Shaver continued,

The fact that abortion is illegal in Texas but aborted babies from states including New Mexico can be disposed of, in a pro-life state like Texas, by BioCycle Healthcare Waste Management Services is egregious.”

Texas medical waste management facility types include medical waste autoclave facility, medical waste processor, incinerator, and medical waste transfer station. BioCycle is a medical waste autoclave facility. According to BioCycle’s website

, the process of disposal of medical waste begins by weighing containers on an industrial scale. Then, waste-filled carts are loaded into the autoclave, a device used to sterilize the waste. This process is followed by unloading the materials into a shredder and then placing the shredded waste into a compactor. It is unknown how waste is ultimately disposed of.

Currently, there are no Texas laws prohibiting the hauling of fetal remains into Texas and disposing of those remains.

In 2017, Texas passed a fetal burial law,”

    said Mark Lee Dickson.

Unfortunately, that law has a massive loophole. While state law addresses the disposal of remains of unborn children from medical facilities within the state of Texas in §697.004 of the Health and Safety Code, state law does not address: (1) the transportation of the remains of unborn children who have been killed by an elective abortion from an abortion provider in another state, and (2) the disposal of the remains of an unborn child killed by an elective abortion outside the State of Texas at a waste management facility inside the State of Texas.”

    Dickson concluded,

BioCycle/Oncore Technology/Oncore Health Solutions have a history of working with baby-murdering cartels across our nation and nothing in the laws of Texas stops them from continuing to have that history of ‘cleaning up’ for the baby murdering industry. In one report, Planned Parenthood Mar Monte, Inc. in California reported giving Oncore Technology, LLC $166,255 for medical services. Organizations like Oncore Technology must stop assisting the baby killers in this work.”

Representative Dustin Burrows, who cosponsored Senate Bill 8 (2017), shared,

“Texas needs to close the loophole; however, Amarillo has the power to close it now.”

Burrows stressed the importance of cities like Amarillo doing their part to address this issue now instead of waiting for over 18 months for a State law to take effect, or in case the Texas legislature fails to pass a bill addressing this loophole.

Citizens of Amarillo are attempting to close this loophole and other loopholes through a Sanctuary Cities for the Unborn Ordinance and their city’s citizen initiative petition process allowed for by their city charter. Volunteers have been working to gather a sufficient number of residents’ signatures in support of the Amarillo Initiative to petition the Amarillo City Council. If they collect enough signatures and the measure is passed by a vote of the city council or the citizens of Amarillo, BioCycle will be forced to cease its interactions with out-of-state abortion facilities.

BREAKING: Babies Aborted In New Mexico Transported To Texas For Disposal

    By Bud Shaver

Albuquerque, New Mexico– Abortion Free New Mexico’s latest investigation has uncovered that Oncore Health Solutions (a conglomerate of Oncore Technology LLC and BioCycle Inc.) is transporting babies that are aborted in New Mexico across state lines to be disposed of as biohazard waste in the state of Texas. These disposal facilities are located in Amarillo and Grand Prairie, TX.

Due to the recent SCOTUS decision, Texas law now bans babies from being aborted. However, no law currently exists preventing aborted babies from the neighboring state of New Mexico from being transported to Texas and disposed of as, “biohazard waste”

“The fact that babies can’t be killed in Texas but aborted babies from New Mexico can be disposed of as biohazard waste in Texas by companies like Oncore/BioCycle must be remedied by the Texas legislature,” stated Tara Shaver of Abortion Free New Mexico.

This alarming discovery has come after months of documentation and several complaints with the New Mexico Environment Department.

In November 2020, local sidewalk advocates began sending Abortion Free New Mexico pictures of an unmarked waste hauler vehicle that routinely picked up the biohazard waste containers full of aborted babies that were killed at the Planned Parenthood surgical center in Albuquerque. Planned Parenthood performs abortions up to 19.6 weeks of pregnancy.

Abortion Free New Mexico filed a complaint with the New Mexico Environment Department (NMED) based on the statute, NMAC 20.9.5.14 (A) (7) and (8) which, requires commercial haulers of infectious waste to:

    • (7) conspicuously label all solid waste collection vehicles with the company,municipality, or county department name;
    • (8) conspicuously label all solid waste collection vehicles with the environment department registration number.

After a six month investigation the NMED determined that the company servicing Planned Parenthood was, “Oncore Technology LLC”, a waste hauler with an expired registration as of March 2019.

According to Thomas Simmons, the Operations Manager for Oncore Technology, they purchased BioCycle and no longer operated under the name “Oncore Technology” but are also known as Oncore Healthcare Solutions, LLC. However, they failed to re-register with the state of New Mexico and had been operating with multiple violations.

The NMED noted the following manifest violations with both the waste generator (Planned Parenthood) and the waste Hauler (Oncore Technology LLC.) These manifests accompany each pickup and transport of biohazard waste and document how much waste is being transported. On average there were two to three 28 gallon containers that were collected weekly from the Albuquerque Planned Parenthood surgical center between January-April 2021.

Of the 17 manifests Planned Parenthood submitted to NMED, all of the

“generator blocks of the special waste manifests were insufficiently completed.”

Oncore Technology LLC’s specific manifest violations are as follows:

    1. Oncore Technology LLC is currently an unregistered commercial hauler.
    2. The manifests used were in Oncore Technologies LLC’s name but BioCycle’s NMED commercial hauler registration number was used.
    3. The treatment facility block information required on the manifests was not completely filled-in and lacked the:
    • telephone number of the facility
    • total weight deposited/unloaded
    • printed name of the facility’s representative
    • the date of the signature
    • section, instead of an actual hand-written signature.
    • a signature stamp was used to “sign” the manifests in the treatment facility block

Oncore Technology was ultimately also found to be in violation of the following:

    1. Failure to re-register as a commercial hauler (unregistered commercial hauler), violation of 20.9.3.31.A NMAC, seventeen (17) instances of violation, occurring on or before January 8, 2021 to April 30, 2021;
    2. Misrepresentation of information on special waste manifests (used BioCycle’s NMED commercial hauler registration number), violation of 20.9.8.19.C NMAC, seventeen (17) instances of violation, occurring on or before January 8, 2021 to April 30, 2021;
    3. Failure to properly complete special waste manifests, violation of 20.9.8.19.C NMAC, seventeen (17) instances of violation, occurring on or before January 8, 2021 to April 30, 2021; and
    4. Failure to properly label vehicles for infectious waste removal, violation of 20.9.5.14.C (4) NMAC, seventeen (17) instances of violation, occurring on or before January 8, 2021 to April 30, 2021.

Just a Slap on the Wrist

In a letter dated May 19, 2021 from NMED Enforcement Officer Daniel Galasso to Amy Dickson, Chief Operating Officer of Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains, he simply instructs Planned Parenthood to begin filling out the special waste manifests properly to document chain of custody. Regarding Oncore Technology LLC, BioCycle and Oncore Health Technologies violations, they were instructed to correct the violations within 10 days. This amounts to nothing more than a slap on the wrist from the NMED even though there are legitimate documented violations of New Mexico statute that have occurred.

2nd Complaint Filed- Aborted Babies illegally transported in the Front Seat

(THESE RED BINS CONTAIN THE HUMAN REMAINS OF ABORTED CHILDREN.)

On April 7, 2022, Abortion Free New Mexico’s Tara Shaver filed an additional complaint with the New Mexico Environment Department after volunteers outside of the Albuquerque Planned Parenthood took pictures and video of Oncore/BioCycle waste haulers illegally placing biohazard containers in the front seat of a pickup truck. These red bins contained the human remains of aborted children. The vehicle still lacked proper identification in accordance with New Mexico statute.

Dan Galasso, Enforcement Coordinator and Environmental Scientist informed Tara Shaver that the company has been instructed to correct these items of non-compliance but at this time, there has been no disciplinary action taken.

Abortion Free New Mexico has sent letters to Oncore/BioCycle’s President, Otley Smith, CEO Vernon Wells and Vice President, R. Mason Bryant to urge them to sever ties with Planned Parenthood of New Mexico. The Project Weak Link initiative that Abortion Free New Mexico has teamed up with Created Equal to implement in New Mexico believes that,

“If abortionists are going to kill babies, they should be forced to dispose of the bodies by themselves. The abortion industry does not exist by itself. It is deeply ingrained in cultural institutions, norms, and economies. To end abortion, we must decrease the industry’s relevance by socially and financially isolating it from other industries.”

It’s time to implement the next phase of this initiative because the New Mexico Environment Department has failed to properly discipline Oncore/BioCycle for their violations. Abortion Free New Mexico may be calling on the public in the coming weeks to let their voices be heard by Oncore/BioCycle leaders as well as leaders in the Texas Legislature.

    Tara Shaver continued,

“Not only is Abortion Free New Mexico sounding the alarm about the transportation and disposal of aborted babies across state lines, we are also calling for the U.S. Congress to address the constitutional crisis that is looming for pre-born babies. How is the right to life lost by crossing a state line? This crisis is very reminiscent of the earliest days in this nation when free states and slave states existed. Surely we are not going back into that dark place where your place of residence determines your value. Pre-born babies all across America need and deserve constitutional personhood from the moment of conception.”

Guest Article- UNM: From Heartbreak to Hope

    By Lloyd Powell,

Albuquerque, New Mexico- Abortions are nothing new in the state of New Mexico. Most notably, Planned Parenthood has been one of front runners. The second lesser known option is Southwestern Women’s Options. Both of these clinics perform abortions not just for New Mexico but other states such as Texas and California. Despite the fact that these clinics are regularly opposed by Pro-Life organizations, the clinics still run effectively every day to end pregnancies through pill and surgical procedures.

Most surprising in support of abortions comes from a name very familiar with New Mexico residents and students. The University of New Mexico operates their own free standing abortion center. The clinic named “UNM Center for Reproductive Health,” offers family planning and birth control options including late term surgical abortions through 24 weeks or 6 months of pregnancy. From their own web site they proudly declare that they are, “UNM Medical Group Clinic of the Year 2017, 2019, 2020.” It might be surprising to note that a clinic who has won so many awards for giving life and improving life would also offer services to end lives.

On the affirmative side in preserving the lives of unborn babies are various Pro-Life organizations. These groups have offered alternatives to abortion by providing mobile ultrasound technology to show parents their unborn child, counseling, and free resources to help undecided parents make the best decision. Further, medical technology can now demonstrate evidence of active life of the unborn with heart beat and other substantiation that this is a baby, not a mere pile of random cells. In many cases, providing these resources and visible proof has resulted in women continuing their pregnancy for the full nine months and rejecting abortion, the death alternative.

If you have been following some of the recent news regarding increased Pro-Life activity, you cannot avoid being drawn to realize the growing change in attitude among the population of the United States against unregulated abortion clinics and especially late terms abortions. In some states the legislatures have moved to curtail abortions. Further, in some of the local elections, politicians are pledging their support for a Pro-Life stance in their campaigns.

In a recent move, the Pro-Life organization “Abortion Free New Mexico” has organized people from over a dozen churches from a wide variety of Christian groups and denominations to begin praying on the public sidewalk each day in April, May and June at the UNM abortion clinic near the airport when it is open. Some of the topics of prayer include praying for local and national laws to change, to help the families understand there are resources available to help with the baby if they are permitted to live, and to help abortion practitioners to turn from the act of abortion.

Anyone who wants to participate in Pro-Life prayer can join Abortion Free New Mexico at the UNM Center for Reproductive Health Clinic at 2301 Yale Blvd SE. in Albuquerque daily in April, May and June. You can obtain more information by visiting AbortionFreeNM.com.

June 2017 Newsletter: Abortion Free New Mexico Partners with Priests for Life to Expose Late Term Abortion

    Dear Friends,

We are excited to be working together with Priests for Life to raise national awareness about late term abortion. This month we released two undercover recordings which reveal that late term abortions are easy to obtain in New Mexico… for any reason and that the abortion cartel is more concerned about the profits they can make off of lucrative late term abortions than minors being exploited by sexual predators.

Fr. Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life, stated, “This latest undercover call continues to rip the veil off the abortion industry and show our nation what even most ‘prochoice’ people oppose: late term abortion of healthy babies, paid for by taxpayers, and conducted by an industry which provides cover for sexual predators. What we need to know to end abortion is found in the abortion industry itself. We just need to continue exposing it, and we will.”

New Mexico is the land of unrestricted abortion but with your help, prayers and support we are working toward an Abortion Free New Mexico. Thank you for standing with us for the babies.

Abortion Free New Mexico Going Through the Manual

This month we held two meetings to discuss the first half of the Abortion Free book that is the manual we are using to guide us in our efforts to make New Mexico abortion free.

We are going to need as many people involved as possible to accomplish all that we have planned to bring accountability and exposure to the New Mexico abortion cartel.

These meetings serve as a place of concentrated prayer, brainstorming and community as we begin to implement this strategy. If you would like to be involved in these meetings and need a book please contact us at our address below.

We are looking for opportunities to introduce this manual and vision to others. Please let us know if you’d like us to come to your church, Bible study or home group to share and let others know how they can be a part of making your community abortion free.

Bud also had the opportunity to speak at the annual CSA National Day of Prayer week. He shared one of our latest undercover videos and the vision of Abortion Free New Mexico with those in attendance.

Abortion Landscape Shift in New Mexico since 2010

Abortion Free New Mexico introduces a 6 Part Series exposing the NM Abortion Cartel…

Part 1: In 2010 when we were invited to New Mexico as pro-life missionaries by Fr. Stephen Imbarrato, the abortion landscape was a lot different than what it is today. The three of us in conjunction with Operation Rescue quickly coined the title “Late Term Abortion Capital” to describe Albuquerque and designated New Mexico as the “Abortion Capital of the Southwest.”

An article in the Albuquerque Journal quoted radical pro-abortion activists who, “[Ranked] New Mexico No. 1 in the nation for providing equal access to sexual and reproductive health services.” We, however, were determined to push back against the New Mexico abortion cartel that was eager to expand it’s killing business even deeper into New Mexico.

In no time at all we began to put the pieces together and uncovered the corruption that has permeated the state and kept abortion unrestricted for so long. We outed abortionists and made sure everyone knew who is willing to kill pre-born children for a profit. We began to expose horrific abortion injuries at Southwestern Women’s Options late term abortion center and at the University of New Mexico.

Since 2010 three abortion centers have closed!

Now only five abortion centers remain in the state and Albuquerque alone is home to the state’s three last remaining surgical abortion killing centers.

“Since the Shavers have been working to end abortion in New Mexico, they have made great strides in exposing rampant abortion abuses, helping to close abortion businesses, and saving lives. To achieve the goal of an abortion-free state, it takes the wisdom that comes from experience and gritty determination. The Shavers are certainly up to the task of building an Abortion Free New Mexico.” Cheryl Sullenger, Senior Vice President of Operation Rescue

Part 2: Planned Parenthood of New Mexico is on Life Support

In addition to the revelation that Planned Parenthood (PP) NM will be closing 3 referral clinics at the end of September 2017, we uncovered that the only PP in the state providing surgical abortions is currently without an abortionist! This is possibly due to our complaint filed against a PP nurse practitioner who was performing abortions in violation of New Mexico law…

Albuquerque, NM- In Part 1 of Abortion Free New Mexico’s series documenting the Abortion Landscape Shift in New Mexico, the report highlighted how the abortion cartel is in full retreat and that their plans of expansion have been stifled. In part 2 of this series AFNM will reveal how Planned Parenthood is facing a crisis of their own in New Mexico.

Planned Parenthood NM Closing Three Referral Clinics

According to a breaking report by KOAT,

“Three out of New Mexico’s six clinic locations will close in September, according to Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains Chief Experience Officer Adrienne Mansanares. ‘We are making some difficult decisions about the best way to stay in New Mexico into the future,’ Mansanares said. The clinics in Farmington, Rio Rancho, and Nob Hill in Albuquerque will close.”

These three Planned Parenthood locations are referral centers that provide contraceptives, the morning after pill and abortion referrals.

Planned Parenthood of New Mexico Has No Legitimate Abortionist on Staff

In an undercover call placed to the last remaining Planned Parenthood in New Mexico providing surgical abortions which is located in Albuquerque, the caller was informed that typically this location does provide abortions up to 18 weeks but that they are currently not offering surgical abortions since they are struggling to keep an abortionist on staff.

Their lack of an abortion provider could be the result of a New Mexico Nursing Board complaint filed in 2016 by Abortion Free New Mexico’s Tara Shaver based on state medicaid data showing that Nurse Practitioner Vivianne Clark was paid by New Mexico medicaid for performing abortions between 17-24 weeks, which is illegal for a non-physician to do in New Mexico. The second part of the undercover video reveals that Clark continues to provide medical RU486 abortions in Santa Fe despite being under investigation.

AFNM has long suspected that Santa Fe Planned Parenthood Nurse Practitioner, Vivianne Clark, is the primary abortionist in Albuquerque. While we wait for the result from the New Mexico Nursing Board investigation, we are hopeful that in the meantime this complaint has halted Clark’s potential illegal activity.

Listen to the undercover call: Planned Parenthood of New Mexico is on Life Support

Another key factor that is possibly hampering Planned Parenthood’s ability to keep an abortionist on staff is directly linked to the Center for Medical Progress’s (CMP) videos that exposed the true nature of Planned Parenthood’s abortion business. Legitimate physicians simply aren’t willing to work for Planned Parenthood.

An additional result of the CMP videos was local and national protests calling for the defunding of the abortion giant. This has ultimately been the catalyst for the momentum we are now witnessing and has culminated with President Donald J. Trump recently signing an executive order giving states the ability to defund Planned Parenthood locally.

According to Cheryl Sullenger, Senior Vice President of Operation Rescue, “Planned Parenthood is in a panic to reorganize as their federal funding dries up. They must jettison their centers that aren’t making money. For Planned Parenthood, abortion, and the money it produces, is their number-one priority.”

While much of what we see regarding the shift in New Mexico’s abortion landscape is good news, we must remain vigilant. Fr. Stephen Imbarrato reflects upon a national trend that he has witnessed in his national ministry with Priests for Life, “It is important to understand that Planned Parenthood’s operational strategy all over the country has been to consolidate its operations and build state or regional megacenters. We will be researching and monitoring what next step Planned Parenthood is planning here in New Mexico.”

The three of us in conjunction with Operation Rescue quickly coined the title “Late Term Abortion Capital” to describe Albuquerque and designated New Mexico as the “Abortion Capital of the Southwest.”  An article in the Albuquerque Journal quoted radical pro-abortion activists who, “[Ranked] New Mexico No. 1 in the nation for providing equal access to sexual and reproductive health services.” We, however, were determined to push back against the New Mexico abortion cartel that was eager to expand it’s killing business even deeper into New Mexico.

At that time Albuquerque was home to four surgical abortion killing centers. Santa Fe was home to two abortion facilities one of which performed surgical abortions and Southern New Mexico was home to Santa Teresa based abortionist Franz Theard.

Due to New Mexico’s lack of common sense abortion restrictions, notorious late term abortionist Curtis Boyd, who owns Southwestern Women’s Options, had effectively expanded his child killing empire into New Mexico and abortionist Franz Theard had expanded his abortion business across the border into New Mexico to evade Texas abortion laws. The University of New Mexico, which we have since identified as, “The Heart of the New Mexico Abortion Cartel” was aggressively expanding its radical abortion agenda and Whole Woman’s Health opened and set up shop in Las Cruces, NM in 2014.

As a result we saw the  New Mexico Medical board hold a disciplinary hearing against late term abortionist Shelley Sella for a botched 35 week abortion. The layers of the cartel began to peel away so that we could see things more clearly.

Since 2010 three abortion centers have closed!

Now only five abortion centers remain in the state and Albuquerque alone is home to the state’s three last remaining surgical abortion killing centers.

    1. Planned Parenthood (Albuquerque, NM)- Offering surgical abortions through 19 weeks gestation.
    2. UNM Center for Reproductive Health (Albuquerque, NM)- Offering surgical abortions through 24 weeks gestation.
    3. Southwestern Women’s Options (Albuquerque, NM)- Offering third trimester surgical abortions through all 9 months of pregnancy.
    4. Planned Parenthood (Santa Fe, NM)- Only offering RU-486 medical abortions.
    5. Hill Top Women’s Reproductive Clinic (Santa Theresa, NM)- Only offering RU-486 medical abortions.

The New Mexico abortion cartel is facing immense pressure. Southwestern Women’s Options and The University of New Mexico are currently under investigation by the New Mexico Attorney General. They have, in the past year, been under scrutiny by the congressional Select Panel on Infant Lives. In addition, we have an active complaint with the New Mexico Nursing board regarding what we believe to be illegal abortions performed by a Planned Parenthood abortionist.

Tara Shaver, spokeswoman for Abortion Free New Mexico issued the following statement,

“Over the past seven years, new pro-life organizations have begun and there has been a dramatic reversal and public policy shift in New Mexico. Great strides have been made and now we see the New Mexico abortion cartel being stifled instead of continuing their expansion throughout New Mexico. The abortion industry is in full retreat!”

During the coming weeks Abortion Free New Mexico will be releasing in-depth reports on the New Mexico abortion cartel.

In addition to Operation Rescue, Abortion Free New Mexico is also working with Priests for Life to raise national awareness about late term abortion:
