    Blasphemous Super Bowl Ad

    Albuquerque, New Mexico- During the 2024 Super Bowl LVIII an ad that many are calling “blasphemous” was aired, and it has rightfully sparked outrage among conservative Christians.  
    ​
    Here are some examples of the most prominent voices of opposition:

    The controversial ad features, in particular, a picture of a woman washing the feet of another woman at an abortion facility with pro-life individuals putting down their signs in the background. Other controversial images depict a Priest washing the feet of a LGBTQ+ individual and a police officer washing the feet of an implied criminal (police lights flashing in the background).

    The ad ends with the words in all caps, “JESUS DIDN’T TEACH HATE, HE WASHED FEET.”

    Interestingly, according to The Sporting News, “Among the donors behind the [He Get’s Us] campaign is the family of billionaire Hobby Lobby co-founder David Green, whose son is a board member at Come Near.”

    The apparent Christian backed propaganda messaging implies, in the scene above, that the Pro-Life community shouldn’t protest abortion or peacefully confront abortion minded women at abortion facilities. To do so is not loving it is, “HATE”. They should instead follow Jesus’ example and “wash their feet.” 

    MYTH/PROPAGANDA VS. REALITY

    Publicly being present at abortion facilities does convict abortion minded women, some of whom are already on the fence about their abortion decision. Some women even arrive looking for a “sign” or a way out and thank us for being there. Those who courageously and sacrificially go to abortion facilities to share the gospel and minister to women are the last line of defense on the frontlines of the battle for life in this country.

    Abbey Johnson, a former manager at Planned Parenthood, revealed that upper management complained, “Our no-show rate goes up to 75% when people are outside our clinics praying.”

    It has also been documented in the articles below that the use of both fetal development and abortion victim images of abortion violence, do change individuals minds and saves babies lives.

    Abortionists at a National Abortion Federation gathering themselves readily admitted that abortion is, “grotesque, it is killing, and it is violent.”  Abortion Free New Mexico firmly believes in and has seen the positive effects of the use of signs and especially those depicting what abortion violence does to babies in the womb. Women deserve to know what happens to their baby when they have an abortion and abortion facilities never show these images to them.

    WHAT DOES THE NEW TESTAMENT ACTUALLY SAY?

    Biblical (New Testament) examples of feet washing include Jesus/Christians washing fellow Christians feet expressing their humility, service and love to one another; and repentant sinners to Jesus as an act expressing their true sorrow for their sins:

    • In Luke, it was the repentant sinner who washed Jesus’ feet expressing her true sorrow over her sin, Luke 7: 37-38 “A woman in that town who lived a sinful life learned that Jesus was eating at the Pharisee’s house, so she came there with an alabaster jar of perfume. 38  As she stood behind him at his feet weeping, she began to wet his feet with her tears. Then she wiped them with her hair, kissed them and poured perfume on them.”
    • John 13:2-17 Jesus washes his disciples feet, “Jesus knew that the Father had put all things under his power, and that he had come from God and was returning to God; so he got up from the meal, took off his outer clothing, and wrapped a towel around his waist. After that, he poured water into a basin and began to wash his disciples’ feet, drying them with the towel that was wrapped around him.”
    • John 13:2–17 recounts Jesus’ performance of this action. In verses 13:14–17, Christ instructs His disciples: “If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet. For I have given you an example, that you should do as I have done to you.”
    • 1 Timothy 5:10 reflects on the godly example set by fellow Christian widows, “and is well known for her good deeds, such as bringing up children, showing hospitality, washing the feet of the Lord’s people…”

    Tara Shaver, spokeswoman for Abortion Free New Mexico issued the following statement,

    “Abortion Free New Mexico is not motivated by hate, on the contrary, our love for abortion minded women and their babies compels us to act on behalf of our Christian faith and reach them on the sidewalks outside of abortion facilities before they make the tragic choice to take the life of their precious baby.
    We need more Christians to be willing to publicly pray at local abortion facilities because it does in fact, change women’s minds and saves babies lives. There are currently FIVE abortion facilities in Albuquerque alone. While we have an organized daily/weekly presence at two local abortion facilities the others have limited or no coverage at all.

    If our peaceful, public presence was not effective at abortion facilities, then there would not be the need for abortion sympathizers to spend millions of dollars on a Super Bowl ad to thwart our efforts. If any Christian is offended by our pro-life efforts, then Jesus’ example should lead them to wash the feet of their fellow pro-life Christian brothers and sisters, not the feet of unrepentant sinners.”

    HIJACKED: ABQ City Budget Funds $250,000 To Planned Parenthood Only $100,000 To Barrett House

    Albuquerque, New Mexico- Albuquerque City Councilor Renee Grout’s effort to re-appropriate $250,000 away from Planned Parenthood was hijacked Monday night, August 15, 2022, and ultimately failed. The Albuquerque City Council voted to approve an amended version of R-22-46 which will now give $250,000 to Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains as well as $100,000 to the Barrett House and $100,000 to the Community Energy Efficiency Project.

    The amendment that hijacked Grout’s original intent to prevent $250,000 taxpayer dollars from funding the nations largest abortion provider was sponsored by Councilors: Tammy Fiebelkorn (D), Trudy Jones (R) and Klarissa Pena (D). Once again a Republican, Trudy Jones, voted with liberal progressive democrats to ensure that Planned Parenthood will receive taxpayer dollars which violates the consciences of many residents in the city of Albuquerque.

    ​There were many present in support of Councilor Renee Grout’s amendment to re-approppriate the Planned Parenthood funds to the Barrett House, they spoke very rationally about the need to use those funds to help homeless women and their children which would alleviate some of the crisis our city is currently experiencing. Many shared that it makes more sense to use the funds for the immediate needs of our community and that taxpayers should never be forced to pay for abortions.

    Most of those who spoke in favor of  funding of Planned Parenthood were members of the Party for Socialism and Liberation. They called for an increase in funding to Planned Parenthood due to the increased traffic the state anticipates in the wake of the overturning of Roe v Wade. The original sponsor of the bill, Tammy Fiebelkorn, agreed with their call for additional funds and she made it clear that she is an unapologetic supporter of the business that kills over 300,000 babies in the womb each year.

    Councilor Dan Lewis rightly pointed out,

    “Planned Parenthood of New Mexico performs surgical dismemberment abortions up to 5 months gestation and brings in an annual revenue of  $4.7 million dollars!”

    Lewis raised the question as to why Planned Parenthood need additional money from Albuquerque taxpayers. This unfortunately did not sway the 5 members of the council that ultimately voted to pass the bill.

    “Abortion Free New Mexico is grateful for Councilor Grout’s effort to re-appropriate the funds away from Planned Parenthood and into the hands of organizations that provide real help for homeless women and children. Elections have consequences and the residents of Albuquerque must work to replace council members like Trudy Jones who depart from their party platform and refuse to listen to their constituents. Last night’s vote was unconscionable, reckless and should motivate us to change the makeup of our city council, ” stated Tara Shaver spokeswoman of Abortion Free New Mexico.

    If you live in District 8, which includes Albuquerque’s Far Northeast Heights and Foothills, please consider running for that City Council position to unseat Trudy Jones in November 2024.

Our family is humbled to serve the Lord in New Mexico as pro-life missionaries and to be the voice for the children the Lord loves so much. We couldn’t do this important life saving ministry without you! This month we have continued to light up the darkness with our prayer campaign outside the UNM abortion center, every day at least one person is present but we need more people to sign up for one hour. 

    We also called for accountability of our elected officials at the city level when two republicans voted to make sure that Planned Parenthood of New Mexico receives $250,000 of our tax dollars. If these republicans had voted against this funding it would have been blocked.

    IN THE NEWS THIS MONTH:  

    “Tara Shaver with Abortion Free New Mexico spoke with American Family News about the quarter-million dollars given to the local abortion provider. According to Shaver, the city of Albuquerque is already facing many crisis situations financially, so she finds it ‘completely absurd’ to reward a non-essential business. The official minutes from the May 16 meeting indicate the city took a half-million dollars from ‘affordable housing’ and gave half of that to Planned Parenthood to free up more of the abortion company’s budget for abortions.”

    As Ward 29 Chairman, Bud would like to thank everyone who came to our first ward meeting at Lava Rock Brewing Company. We had an amazing turnout with about 60 people present. There is great potential to flip this district and take New Mexico back from the liberal Democrats.

    Abortion Free New Mexico wrapped up another successful month of prayer with our No Sidewalk Without the Savior Campaign. We have our amazing team of volunteers to thank for making sure that each day people were present and praying for an end to abortion at the University of New Mexico. One of our volunteers shared this testimony,

    “I need to tell you what happened yesterday when praying at the clinic with Tom. A young lady walked all the way up the hill, started with ‘I am a Christian’ and told us she has 3 kids and just found out she is pregnant. She is barely making it now and is concerned about another baby. Her name is Samantha. Does not want an abortion but… Did not say she is married. We were struck with her concern for the future. We panicked to some extent. It is easy to pray “shut down this clinic” but tough to help someone going thru a real challenge. We prayed with her and gave her one of the resource packets.”

    This story demonstrates the importance of being present at the places where women seeking abortions are.

    If our team had not been there, this woman wouldn’t have local resources to pursue and she most likely wouldn’t have reached out for prayer because of the shame and stigma that is inevitable for women considering an abortion. It is a blessing to know that when the body of Christ is present opportunities arise and we can be the light in this dark world.

    Here’s another sidewalk testimony confirming how Abortion Free New Mexico’s prayerful presence is making a difference:

    From a Tuesday Volunteer: “A gentleman pulled up to the stop sign and called out to us telling us that he was not going to abort his baby, that he was going to keep his baby. He then did the sign of the cross and seemed so full of joy.”

    NEW DETAILS: Republican City Councilors Must Resign After Voting To Fund Planned Parenthood

    Albuquerque, New Mexico- Abortion Free New Mexico has obtained additional information, including video and documentation, outlining how the Albuquerque City Council voted to give Planned Parenthood of New Mexico $250,000 for fiscal year 2023.

    The vote in question was an amendment to the city’s operating budget. Each amendment requires a separate vote to be either approved or denied. The final outcome for Floor Amendment 13 below specifically states, that it “adds $250,000 for a Council directed sponsorship to Planned Parenthood of New Mexico” and was sponsored by Councilor Tammy Feilbelkorn. The  amendment also shows exactly who voted for it and who voted against it and two republicans voted for its passgage.

    This amendment vote was taken separately from the overall budget vote. The budget vote passed by a 7-2 margin and the entire step by step process can be seen in the Albuquerque City Council twitter feed below.

    Albuquerque City Councilors: Isaac Benton (D-District 2), Klarissa Peña (D-District 3), Brook Bassan (R-District 4), Pat Davis, (D-District 6), Tammy Fiebelkorn (D-District 7), and Trudy Jones (R-District 8) voted in support of Amendment 13 and demonstrates to their constituents where they stand on the issue. These Councilors voted to give funds to the nations largest abortion provider and the organization that is at the forefront of promoting depraved sex education to minors as well as recently began offering gender affirming hormone therapy. Planned Parenthood has a radical anti-family and anti-life agenda that targets women and children and should never receive one dime from taxpayers.

    Abortion Free New Mexico would like to thank City Councilors Dan Lewis (R-District 5), Renée Grout (R-District 9) and Louie Sanchez (D-District 1) for voting against Amendment 13 in order to prevent the citizens of Albuquerque from forcible funding of the New Mexico abortion industry.

    “Abortion Free New Mexico is renewing the call to republican City Councilors Brook Bassan and Trudy Jones to resign immediately and to issue a public apology to their constituents. There must be accountability for leaders that have made the citizens of Albuquerque involuntarily responsible for the atrocities occurring at Planned Parenthood of New Mexico. I’m sure that the constituents in City Council Districts 4 and 8 are not happy about this misuse of funds and should contact Bassan or Jones immediately to express disapproval and ask for their resignation,” stated Tara Shaver of Abortion Free New Mexico.

    BREAKING: ABQ Votes to Give $250,000 to Planned Parenthood

    Albuquerque, New Mexico- In an unprecedented move the Albuquerque City Council voted on Monday night, May 16th to amend the City of Albuquerque’s Operating Budget to include $250,000 to Planned Parenthood of New Mexico.

    In a 6-3 vote, two republican councilors, Brook Bassan and Trudy Jones, sided with pro-abortion liberal democrats and the abortion industry to approve the funding which will now be sent to democrat Mayor Tim Keller for his signature.

    Planned Parenthood as a 501c3 nonprofit organization already receives hundreds of millions of federal tax dollars each year, in spite of the fact that most Americans don’t want their tax dollars being used to prop up the abortion giant. Planned Parenthood aborted 354,871 children in the 2019-2020 fiscal year.

    In a press release sent from Julian Moya, public information officer for the Albuquerque City Council, it is noted that the $250,000 to Planned Parenthood is a “Council-directed sponsorship and was achieved by removing funds from other projects.”

    Tara Shaver of Abortion Free New Mexico issued the following statement,

    “The city of Albuquerque is already in crisis mode so it is completely absurd that the city council is stripping the funding of other city projects to prop up a failing abortion industry that is on the verge of collapsing nationwide with the potential overturning of Roe v. Wade. The city of Albuquerque is facing so many crisis situations that it is absurd to give $250,000 to the nation’s largest abortion provider. The taxpayers of Albuquerque should not be forced to foot the bill for Planned Parenthood’s non-essential abortion business. Abortion is not healthcare for women and women don’t need Planned Parenthood. The Republican city councilors, Brook Bassan and Trudy Jones, who voted to appropriate these funds should resign immediately and publicly apologize to their constituents for not properly representing our fiscal or social conservative values.”
