With Roe v. Wade Overturned, Americans Gather September 10th To Mourn Preborn Victims

Albuquerque, New Mexico- In the wake of Roe v. Wade being overturned, abortion has become a major issue in the 2022 midterm elections. Over a dozen states have enacted abortion bans, while other states are expanding abortion, and voters across the country are being bombarded with political ads on the abortion issue. But on Saturday, September 10, local residents will gather to remind the community that abortion is not just a political issue. They will be marking the tenth annual National Day of Remembrance for Aborted Children with a graveside memorial service at 10AM at Sandia Memory Gardens 9500 San Pedro NE. Albuquerque, NM 87113.

“Visiting the graves of aborted children really puts these political battles into perspective,” said Tara Shaver of Abortion Free New Mexico, organizer of the Day of Remembrance in Albuquerque. “In fact, you may be surprised to learn that some of those victims have been buried right here in Albuquerque.”

Fr. Stephen Imbarrato of Life Ministries U.S. obtained the aborted babies, Eve and Ryan, and with the help of Abortion Free New Mexico buried them at Sandia Memory Gardens. This location also has memorial headstones for local babies lost to abortion along with babies lost to miscarriage.

Shaver continued, “In the 49 years that Roe v. Wade was the law of the land, more than 60 million unborn children suffered the violence of abortion. All the angry protests, overwrought political ads, and self-serving corporate grandstanding fade into silence when you realize that actual victims of abortion are buried right beneath your feet. These tiny children were never born. Never learned to walk. Never had a first day of school. They were never even given names.”

Of the over 60 million victims of abortion since Roe v. Wade was handed down in 1973, only a tiny fraction have received a proper burial, at gravesites scattered throughout the country. But all of them will be mourned on September 10 during memorial services at those gravesites and dozens of other memorial markers set up in their honor.

The Day of Remembrance is being organized by three national pro-life groups—Citizens for a Pro-Life Society, Priests for Life and the Pro-Life Action League—to humanize the unborn victims of abortion by raising awareness of their burial places. The bodies of tens of thousands of aborted children have been retrieved from trash bins, landfills and other locations and buried at more than 50 gravesites across the country.

Albuquerque, New Mexico- Now that Roe v. Wade has been overturned, it is crucial that we continue to mourn the millions of lives lost to abortion, and repent of the national sin of abortion, even as we begin the project of extending legal protection to unborn children in every state we can.

On Saturday, September 10, 2022 pro-life Americans all across the country will honor the memory of the more than 60 million unborn victims of abortion during the National Day of Remembrance for Aborted Children.

Solemn prayer services will be held simultaneously at gravesites where abortion victims have been buried, as well as at many other memorial sites dedicated in their honor.

    Remembrance Headstone at Local Cemetery

    By Bud Shaver,

Albuquerque, New Mexico- Every September Abortion Free New Mexico holds a memorial service for the National Day of Remembrance for Aborted Children at the only cemetery in the state where aborted children are buried. Over the last few years we have helped men and women place their aborted and miscarried babies names on remembrance headstones, in order to give them a place to grieve and heal from the loss of their beloved children.

Having an abortion weighs heavily on the hearts of many women. There is, however, healing through Christ as well as specific programs that can help prevent future abortions and also provide closure for both men and women impacted by abortion. Many healing programs include the naming of the aborted child.

Abortion Free New Mexico is acquiring another headstone for the Sandia Memory Gardens and is gathering names from the community to be placed on the remembrance stone.

    • If you or a loved one would benefit from this ministry and would like to have a baby’s name engraved on a remembrance stone please have them reach out to us by phone: 505-319-7825 or email: ShaverMissions@gmail.com before the end of June to submit their baby’s name.

We would also like to let our community know that there are numerous post abortion healing programs available and Abortion Free New Mexico highly recommends going through one of these programs to find healing from an abortion.
