By Bud Shaver,
We hope this newsletter finds you and your families well and blessed by the Lord. Thank you for your continued prayers and support as we continue to stand in the gap for the babies whose lives (like the Churches and small businesses) in New Mexico have been deemed “non-essential” by our governor. Our cry against injustice must never cease, for the babies who needlessly die everyday across our nation. May we all heed His call to be righteous just as He is. God bless you and thank you for blessing our family and pro-life ministry!
“But the day of the Lord will come like a thief. The heavens will disappear with a roar; the elements will be destroyed by fire, and the earth and everything done in it will be laid bare. Since everything will be destroyed in this way, what kind of people ought you to be? You ought to live holy and godly lives as you look forward to the day of God and speed its coming.” 2 Peter 3: 10-12
While Churches, non-essential businesses, and elective surgeries have been halted in the state, late term abortions continue to bring women here to New Mexico from all across the nation, who by the way, are not quarantining for 14 days after their arrival as New Mexico Governor Michelle Lujan has mandated by executive order. Instead they leave within 4-5 days to return home with empty wombs.
- Gov. Lujan Grisham orders travelers to New Mexico to self-quarantine for 14 days (Local News KRQE 13 report)
On March 25, a spokesperson from New Mexico Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham’s office issued the following statement by phone to Tara Shaver of Abortion Free New Mexico,
“We have discussed this matter and the clinics are not going to close. Some people are claiming that abortions are elective surgeries and we are not considering them as elective surgeries.”
Abortions are absolutely elective and non-essential and have no place in a civilized society. The fact that it is tolerated is a shame to our state and our nation.
In southern New Mexico, Franz Theard was busy moving his grisly abortion machine across state lines to defy the state of Texas’ orders to stop the killing of unborn children, and at least one woman has been injured, during her abortion, on the New Mexico side.

Of course, the UNM Center For Reproductive Health is still performing late term abortions up to 24 weeks and EVERY Friday the clinic parking lot is PACKED! (Notice the packed parking lot below)
If abortions are deemed “essential services” during the CV-19 pandemic, then our prayers and protest presence are EQUALLY essential!
While New Mexico Governor, Michelle Lujan Grisham claims to be taking extreme measures to “save lives” during this pandemic, Fr. Stephen Imbarrato, director of Life Ministries US sums it up best…
“Over 125,000 abortions are occurring DAILY all across the world. The governments of the world don’t care about people dying. They kill the unborn, they kill the elderly, the disabled, and the medically vulnerable all the time. They are involved in all types of immoral experimentation all the time. They don’t care about people apart from political power. How is this not obvious to anyone paying attention? And of course these immoral governments know they need to neutralize the Church to succeed in their immoral endeavors.”
NEWS FLASH: OUR RIGHT TO PEACEABLY ASSEMBLE SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED UPON
We launched Faith to Action Friday in March of 2019, now after a year, the media decided to publish a news report on our prayerful protest presence out at The University of New Mexico’s free-standing abortion facility UNM Center For Reproductive Health (UNMCRH).
It took a global pandemic for the media to take notice!
According to the report,
“The anti-abortion group Abortion Free New Mexico called the protest, “Faith to Action Friday.” According to the groups’ website, protestors were asked to gather from noon to 1 p.m. to protest the fact that abortion is considered an essential service in New Mexico.”

Tara Shaver, spokeswoman for Abortion Free New Mexico, issued the following statement to local media concerning our Good Friday Protest:
“If Governor Lujan Grisham is going to insist that abortion services are essential in New Mexico, our prayer and protest presence outside of these facilities is equally essential. Every life has value, and if she refuses to protect the lives of the smallest New Mexicans, those in their mothers’ wombs, then we have an obligation and the right afforded by the U.S. Constitution to do so. Our right to the freedom of speech and to peaceably assemble shall not be infringed upon.”
While the media was trying to make our prayerful protest an act of “defiance” against our governor, we were simply being faithful to our weekly commitment to stand up for the babies that are being killed. Thank you to those who stood with us this month for the babies.
Michelle Garcia Holmes (R) who is running for U.S. Congress (CD-1) issued the following statement on social media in response to this article,
“Abortion clinics are still open during the lock down. What’s wrong with this picture my friends? This story is a must read. Is Abortion an essential business? Our top elected officials think so, from Congress to Governor (BTW-all Democrats). Your vote has consequences, our Congressional Delegation to include, Deb Haaland, who I’m running against, believe that this is an essential business. As you read the story you will read that people are coming in from out of state to have their abortions. Other states have chosen to shut down their abortion clinics due to the virus. Planned Parenthood has over 48 million dollars to spend to ensure they will have a congress that votes in their favor this election cycle. So when I say your vote has consequences, this is proof that it does. What would be the harm of stopping the termination of innocent children for one month, two months, maybe even three? It might just give a woman the opportunity to rethink her decision, there are numerous nonprofit organizations willing to help the mother and child. Tara Shaver, thank you for your thoughtful comments in the article. We do have religious freedom to pray anywhere. We also have a constitutional right to freedom of speech. The only ones who don’t have a voice are the unborn, thank you for being a voice for the unborn.”

This month, Abortion Free New Mexico joined hundreds of concerned New Mexicans and small business owners on April 24, 2020 at Civic Plaza in Downtown Albuquerque for the NM Freedom Rally – Operation Gridlock NM.
Bud Shaver of Abortion Free New Mexico joined the protest to stand for life and to protest the fact that New Mexico Governor, Michelle Lujan Grisham (D) has deemed abortion clinics as “essential” businesses and has kept them open. This despite the fact that in New Mexico, all other businesses that provide elective surgeries have been deemed “non-essential” and are not allowed to see patients!
Bud’s sign stated, “Life Is Essential Abortions Are Not! AbortionFreeNM.com“
- The rally was organized in response to the governor’s stay-at-home order which has been extended to May 15.
Albuquerque, New Mexico- In Jesus’ parable of the prodigal son, it took a nationwide famine to finally bring the wayward son to his senses.
Jesus continued: “There was a man who had two sons. The younger one said to his father, ‘Father, give me my share of the estate.’ So he divided his property between them. “Not long after that, the younger son got together all he had, set off for a distant country and there squandered his wealth in wild living. After he had spent everything, there was a severe famine in that whole country, and he began to be in need.“When he came to his senses, he said, ‘How many of my father’s hired servants have food to spare, and here I am starving to death! I will set out and go back to my father and say to him: Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you.” (Luke 15: 11-32)
With the economy shut down due to the current pandemic, like the prodigal son who wasted his great wealth on wickedness, will New Mexico finally come to its senses and stop wasting our wealth funding abortion before we go bankrupt both spiritually and financially?
“It’s important for us to remember that even in the midst of a crisis we must maintain our inalienable rights as American citizens. We forfeit these rights if we don’t use them. It only takes an hour to make a lasting difference and have an impact for LIFE. Now more than ever, we need to pray collectively, publicly, and strategically. Our presence has the ability to reform The University of New Mexico – UNM so that they get out of the abortion business!” Bud Shaver, Abortion Free New Mexico

We are a Christian missionary family serving in Albuquerque, NM. Putting our faith into action, for the past 9 years we have exposed Albuquerque as the late term abortion capital of the nation and have worked to bring accountability to an unregulated abortion industry that is killing children in their mothers wombs up to the day of birth.
In order to be the most effective in our pro-life ministry, we do this important work full time while homeschooling our children and raising them to have a biblical worldview. We rely solely on the provision of the Lord and individuals like you to provide for our daily needs.
We are pursuing and working toward an abortion free New Mexico, where every pre-born child is valued and protected.
- We couldn’t do this important work without God’s calling and hand upon us as well as your faithful prayers and support.
We would be blessed to have you partner with us in this ministry. Your prayers and support are invaluable.
